I have sent both of my children to Lake Greeley...my daughter for 5 years and my son for 5 years. They absolutely loved the camp and the experience. Despite osme of the negative comments, we have had a wonderful experience. The counselors are great and the kids all have a blast. I think the girls side is a little more "clicky" then the boys with "drama"..but this is kid dependent. My kids are friends with everyone and were taught by us to respect everyone and treat them as you would like to be treated. Also, the camp refunds the money of first time campers who dont like the experience...few take them up on this offer. Overall, it is a nice camp and I think my kids would highly recommend it. |

My son went to this camp last yr for the first time for 2 weeks. He was 13 y/o. All I know is that he came home with bruises on his body from a stupid game they played in the bunk. It's called "door nub". If your child passes gas, he has to say door nub and run to touch it. If he fails to say it or someone else touches the door nub first, then the whole bunk attacks your kid and they punch him, consolers also participate. Also, it's not very organized. I called to find out how my kid is and they told me he went on the trip. The very next day I spoke to my kid on the phone and he told me he never went anywhere. If you have a refund coming to you, you might receive it after several phone calls and months later.Over all my son said it was an ok camp but he didn't want to go there again. Oh, and another thing, the squirrel got in to the bunk and jumped on another kids head, he was petrified. Also, the pipe in the toilet broke outside the bunk and was never fixed so you can imagine the odor. |

LGC is by far the best place on earth. It was my home away from my home for the most amazing three summers of my life.I am now 18 and am considering applying to work there next summer.LGC is fun, exciting, you make great friends, and learn a lot about yourself. After having not been there in a few years I still keep in touch with my counselors from all three summers. The counselors are very attentive and pay attention to campers needs. The Buynaks run the camp unbelievably well and handpick the staff. I was really disappointed to read the negative feedback from people. I have never heard such horrible things about such an amazing place. Some of my bestfriends are from LGC and best memories are from 222Greeley Lake Road, Greeley PA 18425.There are kids who have been going to this camp since age 5 and return yearly to the same group of friends, however everyone is always welcomed! |

I went there like 3 years ago and hated it. My counselor was irresponsible, the younger kids had no freedom, and for the older kids they made no effort to do what the parents had suggested. It was badly run and disorganized, and very un-campy. They had vending machines and the kids bought candy and junk food at the canteen every day. |

My kids attended summer of 2007 and loved it. One girl was mean to my daughter, but that's life. It's expensive, so we couldn't afford to send them in 2008. Wish there were deeper discounts for sending more than one. |

I don't expect any camps to be perfect and being realistic. I don't want to dissuade anyone from the pure camp experience. However, the work that is handed down to the international staff definltely. For the most part, all of the staff is truly wonderful. except for certain directors who shall remain nameless. Alot of sweeping under the rugs, with such issues such as harassment, drugs, and bullying. |

I went to this camp last summer and it was my first time i did a sleep away camp so i dont really have anything to compare it to. but all in all i though it was a pretty good camp. the whole woodsy seen was beautiful and there were a lot of different things to do. but i was placed into a large cabin with 16 other girls and 3 counslers which made it hard to get personal attention. also for the 20 people in our cabin, WE ONLY HAD 3 SHOWERS!! it was terrible! in the 2 weeks i stayed there i think i only got to take 3 showers! but the pool and the lake cleaned me off i guess. i met a lot of great freinds there and we went on a great trip to dorney park. i would definitly recomend this camp and i hope to go back. |

As a returning counselor to LGC I would highly recommend it (in fact a child i babysit for will be joining me this summer for four weeks). The staff is great, and while some are let go throughout the summer, it is due to personal issues of their own or they were at camp for the wrong reasons. It is easy transitions when a counselor leaves, and there is no shortage of camper/counselor ratios. The facilites are being redone every summer. The girls junior cabins (ages 6-5th grade) are brand new and very comfortable. Its not a 5 star bed, but it does its job and with home comforters and blankets is reasonable. The activity choices are abundant. From water sports, horseback, trapeze, and sports there are plenty of daily choices. Each cabin has a minimum of two counselors that live in bunk with the campers, and cabins are always supervised. I have always found senior staff to be accomodating to both children and staff keeping everyone happy. I would highly recommend to anyone! |

As a parent who sends their children to this camp every summer and is very happy doing so I must respond to the last unfair review. In our experience all the staff are fluent in English, roughly half the staff are not American but from countries such as Australia, the UK and South Africa so to say there were language issues is compete rubbish. The food is what it is: summer camp food, it is never going to be as good as home cooking. My children had no complaints over the food, activities or staff and i would highly recommend this camp to anyone. The staff we have come across have been fantastic, caring and responsible individuals. |

This camp treats first timers very well and returnees horribly. The quarters were so cramped on the second time that it actually was dangerous in my opinion. It's a first come first serve to the bunk. One girl who got there late got the last bed which should have been in the recycling years ago. The food is only average at best and they don't go out of their way to accomodate special needs. Most of the counselors from our experience are from Europe and don't necessarily relate well to the kids; in some cases there are language issues. We were much happier with another camp experience than here. I would not recommend this place and in fact suggest that you go elsewhere |

There are many great comments on here, but also a few negative ones I feel the need to address. The one that upsets me the most is about the "counselors that keep getting fired." It is true that there are a couple of counselors who aren't up to snuff, but overall the staff at camp are amazing. I find them all to be caring, compassionate people who genuinely love kids an are there for the right reasons. The food isn't 5 star, but it's also not bad. Personally I enjoy many of the meals they serve, from grilled cheese, to tacos, chicken tenders and BBQs. For those reading this, and considering sending your child to camp, don't be dissuaded by the few negative reviews. Greeley isn't perfect, no camp is, but there is something special about this place that can't be fully explained. I joke that it's something in the water, but it's more than that. It's the people, counselors and staff, we are a family, and anyone who's ever been there knows what I mean. |

I have spent the last four summers at this camp and the first three were good. I made alot of amazing friends and tried some great activities. Also, the staff at this camp are usually great. However, this year some of the staff there made my summer horrible. I was always being punished at and they blamed me for things i was not involved in at all. It was the worst summer of my life. The food is horrible and the cabins are dirty and gross. I will not being attending this camp again next year. |

The camp was much smaller and facilities were not as nice as we expected. Also, certain programs that were offered in the catalogue were not offered at camp. The camp nickel and dimes you -- so many activities are "extra". On visiting day, the kids without visitors are taken "off campus" --this is standard at most camps--but at Lake Greeley they charge you for the activity (visiting a nearby park). Unbelievable! Parents have an option to require kids to participate in certain activities they deem important--good idea--except that the camp does not follow through. The most disheartening thing about this camp is that the Director is completely unresponsive! I called and left 4 messages for him in a period of a week--not one message was returned! Extremely disappointing with respect to facilities, activities, personal attention--not to mention responsiveness to parents. |

this was my first summer there and i swear i wouldnt have stayed through the whole summer if i didnt like it as much as i do. my friends and i keep in touch and we constantly try to plan reunions. i really love the camp, the staff there make you feel so welcome and happy, my friends and i gave the staff nicknames and they were fun loving and nice and caring. And to clarify the road situation, the road doesnt run through the middle of the camp, the camp is on one side and the lake happens to be seperate from the camp. its not just lake greeley camps lake, its shared with other camps and so therefor it cant be on lake greeley cmap property. the only thing i disliked was Add/drop, because it became stressful to find activiites that were open that you could do with your friends and on hot days pool filled up fast. i loved that camp so much and i cant wait to go back. Wren's '06 forever and always. <3 |

i went here for 6 summers and it was by far the best 6 summers of my life. true, the facilities werent greatest and the food wasnt fabulous but it was a small price to pay for the best friends i made and the super fun activities they had. i have been to many camps and none had as many activity choices as greeley. moreover, they let campers chose what they want to do everyday! - definately the best part of the camp. the staff is decent although a lot of them get fired but the staff is really fun and cool and 6 years later i still keeep in touch with many of them. my best friend in the world i also met a lake greeley. best place on earth seriously!! i highly recommend it. i miss it so much everytime i think about it i want to cry. i cant wait to go back and be a couselor |

Honestly, i have never had a summer better than those i spent at lake greeley. The activities are awesome. The instructors are helpful to everyone, newcomers and seasoned campers. I am an extremely picky eater and even i have to say that the food is pretty decent. The only time i have ever seen a boy on the girls side is on the last day, when campers were being piscked up. As for the roads, they are well supervised by couselors all day, and are not at all 'major roads'. There are about two cars every ten minutes, and campers only cross these roads if they are headed to lake activities, quads, paintball, horseback, or, my absolute favorite, ROCKWALL. This was my last year at greeley, since i'm now too old, but i definitely plan on returning as a couselor. |

After spending the manysu mmers at Lake Greeley Camp, I have come to realize that it is one of the best camps out there. While it may not be the biggest or the newest, it has a great environment for children to enjoy their summer. The road running through the camp doesn't octually run through the camp. There are hills leading to these roads, just to erase the image of trucks driving right next to the cabins. They are far away from 97% of the camp and campers only need to cross them if they are signed up for lake activities, quad riding, horseback/stables, or rock climbing. The camp is very safe and there are usually 3 college educated counselors in each bunk. The campers arenear a s taff member at all times. The food at camp is very enjoyable, and here is a wide variety of things to choose from. If you are in the middle of searching for a camp, you just found a great one! And no, I don't work for the camp; I just went there as a camper and enjoyed every single part of it. |

we were not happy with the activities. Our 10 yr. old said it was like day care. She had high hopes for the"traditional camp experience". She loved her counselors and made nice friends. She hated the food and she's not a picky eater. 2 of the 3 nurses where mean and told one of the girls in my daughter's cabin she was fat. The African American nurse was very sweet and tried to cheer the girls up. The bath rooms in several cabins would stock up and their were boys sleeping in cabins on the girls side. So much for fun. |

I went to this camp for 7 years. Last year was the last year i could go back as a camper and I definatly want to go back as a counslor. This camp is so great. It has activities for EVERYONE. It has everthing fom arts and crafts to lake to horseback to my favorite ROCK CLIMBING. The staff is really great. I amstill in touch with the friends I made while I was at greeley. I always felt safe at camp and I wish I could go back. Hey Matt Buynak a C.I.T. program would be awesome. |

Just to clarify the last comment, since i have been at the camp for 7 (soon to be 8) years now, the road does not run through the middle of camp. There is a one lane road between the main area (where all cabins, dining hall, and 95% of activities are) and horseback, as well as a one lane road between the camp and the lake. But there is a counselor stationed there all day long and no kids can cross without a staff member. Around one or two cars pass through every 5 minutes, so it isn't really a busy freeway. But i can vouch from personal experiance as a camper and staff member that Lake Greeley is a wonderful place for your kids to spend their summer. You would be hard pressed to find a camp as well run, fun and safe for the kids. And when camp is over, you can't find a kid who isn't so sad the summer is over that they don't go through a box of tissues, so remember to pack those with your campers things. Good luck with your search!!! |

My kids have not attended ths camp -- I only visited. But I DO want to share some info, for those who haven't seen the campus: There is a major road (with lots of trucks!) that cuts right through this camp (REALLY!) The crossing was not well attended when I visited & I thought this was very unsafe! This also makes it easier for outsiders to enter the camp. Other than this "elephant in the room," looked like a nice camp. Perhaps a little more transient than traditional camps with most kids staying for shorter sessions. |
