8/1/11   5     4     5     5     5   This camp made me grow some of the confidence I needed. It's small, but that's really how you make friends; you can't do that in a crowded place like other camps. The people there are the nicest, and the activities are fun and the food is great. I've grown so fond of everyone there, and I love coming back to this place. Oh, and they fixed the pool (for those of you who complained about that from year 09), and it's very refreshing after a hot day. The staff was kind, willing to help, and seemed like they enjoyed their time there as well. It's been the case for the 3 years I've been here. This is a great place to be. Much love to the camp and the directors (especially). RID: 36580

7/15/11   5     5     5     5     5   Yes this camp is small. However it is amazing. The food is amazing the events are great. The owner Shelly has such a great heart an want to see the kids grow and her staff too. Your kids would have tons of fun and the safety of the kids is Shelly's first priority. The kids get to go to movies on trips such as rafting on the Delaware and they get to go to Local asumement parks. This camp is amazing and kids should go there. RID: 36407

6/29/11   5     5     5     5     5   unlike the reviews before me, I believe that pocono ridge is a warm, and comforting camp that isn't big, but is family-like I truly love this camp, and have the best memories at pocono ridge, and i'm sure the campers after me will have the same positive feelings as I and many other campers do.  6/19/11   1     1     1     1     1   This camp is dangerous, and I plead with you not to let your children go there. Last summer someone broke onto the premises, because there was no sercurity. The meals are not at all what they claim to be and some of the hiking paths are dangerous.Half the staff counslers quit the first week because they were being treated badly and felt it wasn't an emontionally healthly place. The website has pictures of basketball and tennis courts but those are not onsite, the campers are driven to them at a nearby school. The pictures try to make it look nicer and bigger than it is but its not nice and what most people don't realize is that this isn't the same camp as it was about a couple years ago, its in a different location and is run much differently. Please rethink going there for your own safety. RID: 36159

6/7/11   5     4     5     5     5   I have to disagree with some of the negative reviews here. No, I am not an owner and only know of the camp by sending our child to Pocono Ridge. Our daughter has been going to this camp for several years and loves it. Yes, it's a small camp and some of the facilities are off the camp grounds but that in no way affected our daughter's enjoyment! We do remember the pool being out of order but unfortunately these happen. A new pool was up and ready the next year. The activities are organized but also cater to the campers individual needs. Nothing is set in stone and the director is willing to accommodate the kids requests. I don't think you'd find that in a larger camp. The meals are home cooked and not some industrial frozen or canned junk. The director and her husband are very caring and our daughter feels like they're her second parents. Pocono Ridge is more like a family then a huge camp. We prefer it that way. Our daughter WILL be BACK! RID: 36057

5/31/11   1     1     1     1     1   This so-called camp is a complete and utter sham. The positive reviews are from the so-called camp's owners. No camp in America has only a few campers in attendance. This camp is no longer a camp if it ever was. These people are seriously misleading the public and it's only a matter of time before someone takes legal action. RID: 35999

5/22/11   2     1     1     2     1   In the summer of 2009, I was tricked into going to this camp by the conniving director, Shelly. She led me to believe that this was a real camp with a wonderful facility and many activities; oh boy was she lying. The athletic field was an overgrown pasture, and the pool was broken even though they said they were going to fix it every day. The only thing that swam in the pool were frogs. The meals, cooked by Shelley (The Director) were okay. When I went there, there were only five other boys, two of which were the owner's son and friend. The bunkhouse resembled a dusty, rundown shack. Shelley told us that we would be sleeping in an air conditioned house, but the only air circulation was through the ripped screens. All of the activities that the camp was supposed to have on campus were 40 minutes away. And the worst part was that they said that they were ACC Accredited, but they had lost their accreditation a couple of years ago. If you want to have a good summer, don't go here. RID: 35943

7/25/10   5     5     5     5     5   My advice for perspective campers:Camp Pocono Ridge may not look like the camps you see on TV but you won't be disappointed with all it provides. Bigger is not always better! By the way, the Camp Director's one child is now a counselor and very good at it! RID: 33483

7/24/10   1     1     1     3     1   I went to Camp Pocono Ridge for two weeks in 2009 and I found it truly disappointing -- my time there was possibly the worst two weeks of that year. There were 12 (?!?) campers in the entire camp (two of whom were the owners' children)! There were few activities; the swimming pool was broken the entire time I was there, and I was told to stop doing arts and crafts so that they would not run out of materials for the second session. There was only one bunk for each gender, which meant that all age groups bunked together, despite their differing interests. Luckily, my parents sent me to a REAL camp this year, and it was an amazing experience. I hope to return to THAT camp next year again. RID: 33466

3/9/10   5     5     5     5     5   I spent 8 of the best summers of my life at Camp Pocono Ridge. I love it there. The staff make every activity fun, and the campers are all-around nice and welcoming. The camp itself is beautiful and the food is pretty good too! CPR's program is excellent; campers choose bunk electives in the mornings and individual electives in the afternoon, so they bond with their bunks and can also meet other campers, all while participating in activities they like. CPR is more than a camp; it is a family. I recommend it to anyone who wants their child to have the best camp experience he or she can have. I would not be who I am today without Pocono RIdge; this camp has helped to make me more confident, friendly, and happy. Camp Pocono RIdge is incredible, and any parent looking for a camp for his or her child should strongly consider CPR. RID: 32310

10/1/09   5     5     5     5     5   I agree with everyone here, Camp Pocono Ridge is a wonderful camp for kids and parents too! Our daughter attended CPR for the first time this summer and LOVED it! I was concerned at first because it is a very small camp but it turned out to be perfect. My daughter felt comfortable right away, everyone was friends with everyone. The smaller size gave her greater comfort to be herself and try new things like sports (hurray) without feeling embarrassed. She loved the way she felt there and about it after camp. Its October and still the topic of the day. We signed her up for four weeks next summer and she is counting the days. Shellie and the staff are great about keeping parents in the loop, talking to us even when our daughter was too busy to talk, and keeping the kids safe and comfortable. I highly recommend this camp. Our daughter loves the kids, the counselors, and the FOOD! Great comments about the food! RID: 31160

8/12/09   5     5     5     5     5   Our two grandchildren have just reluctantly returned from Pocono Ridge. This was their second summer at PCR, and they had a wonderful time. The staff is very supportive, and they feel as if it's their second home. There were a variety of activities, kayaking, stream hikes, swimming, special shows in which they participated, and crafts just to name a few. They look forward to returning for a month next summer, and we feel comfortable knowing they will be in good hands. ALSO, they report that Shellie's cooking is top notch, no processed foods! Click to report rating    8/17/08   5     4     4     5     5   Unlike many other camps, Camp Pocono Ridge is committed to personal needs. Being more of an exclusive camps helps CPR maintain a "family" atmosphere while bringing out the best in the individual.Dedicated staff and a very loyal family of campers makes this camp worth while. First times campers will be instantly welcomed and accepted and welcomed as family. In all of my years doing business with this camp and others in NorthEast PA region, I can honestly say this...There is no better camp. RID: 25786
