Click to report rating    8/25/13   5     5     5     5     5   There is NO camp like Driftwood! No other camp can match the spirit, enthusiasm, and communication that is the essence of Driftwood. This family knows camp! Thanks to everyone for the best summer of our child's life! RID: 45852

2/11/13   2     2     2     2     2   I once went to Driftwood day camp and it was awful disorganized camp, rude staff members and shows way more favoritism to grownups and mean. Force you to do what you do not like, NEVER GO TO THIS 'camp' RID: 43645

1/13/13   1     1     1     1     1   i am a former lifeguard/counselor staf member at driftwood. i was treated like a slave and sabotaged by my bosses and co-workers as well as verbally abused and threatened. i had the worst experience of my life. the disgracful and somewhat illegal treatment that goes on at this prison is disgusting and unethical. ATTENTION ALL PARENTS AND POTENTIAL STAFF MEMBERS: do not, i repeat, DO NOT, send your child to this so-called day camp, unless you're trying to punish them. i speak out to all adults and children to not let what happened to me, happen to you at this "day camp". the kids aren't even allowed to have fun as it is because it "breaks the rules". the staff are fired if anything is potentially done wrong, even if it's a false claim and they're well-liked by the kids. as a former employee and friend of many people who had an awful experience with this camp, i beg you to AVOID DRIFTWOOD DAYCAMP at all costs. thank you for your time. Click to report rating    12/13/12   1     4     3     2     3   The counselors are lazy, arrogant and continuously gossip about the families who are paying their salaries. Too many counselors and bus drivers work there so their children can go to camp for free, and their lack of commitment to their job shows. Truly a disappointment to those us who pay, and entrust our children to these shrews. If the staff was better, the camp would be quite good. RID: 43209

9/29/12   5     5     5     5     5   Driftwood is an incredible camp. My children and their friends all have the most amazing time during the summer and it is all down to them! The staff are great, I always feel comfortable leaving my kids in their care. If there is ever anything I need to bring to their attention I am always able to reach the owners and directors, and they communicate with us too which is great! They let me know what my kids grups have been doing every day. The variety of activities is out of this world. From recording studios to flying trapeze, ropes course and every possible sport you can think of, thats just the start! All equipment is up to date, and every area of camp seems so well staffed! I really cannot recommend this camp highly enough! RID: 42773

7/13/12   1     2     1     1     1   My children used to go here. A couple great activities but the rest of the children, while waiting, are SO bored. ( trapeze and bungee, for example.) Paid a lot of money for mediocre trips and scheduled activities such as 'Game Tent' (board games), ping pong and playing with legos. Head staff show a lot of favoritism to parents and other staff. Would definitely not recommend. RID: 41692

Click to report rating    7/11/12   5     5     5     5     5   This is my 7 year old son's second summer going to Driftwood. He absolutely loves it! They offer so many activities and they also apply sunscreen to your child through out the day. I love the fact that none of the counselors are allowed to bring any electronic devices on the grounds. Their focus is solely on the children. The counselor to kid ratio seems to be 3 kids to each counselor and in some cased 2 to 1. I feel that my child is safe there and well cared for. I asked him if he would like to miss camp one day to go to the beach with friends visiting from out of town and he replied - no! Another thing I like is the head counselor calls once a week to give a verbal update on your child. We also get daily email's stating the activities the kids had that day and a recorded message at night stating what to expect the following day. This is in addition to the lunch menu sent out 2 weeks in advance and the monthly Calendar of events. We love Driftwood and highly recommend it! RID: 41652

7/29/10   1     1     2     2     1   My kids went to Driftwood this year and expected great things but got the opposite. They have 4 good activities and the rest is filler. 3 very small pools. Food was terrible. Most of the days were very disorganized. emails and phone calls were confusing and even with all of that contact, it seems we were still left in the dark with regard to many issues like field trips and late nights. These guys don't really seem to know hoe to run a camp. I guess we expected too much from the tour they gave us. Looked pretty good at first glance but turned out to be way below average. We will not be sending our kids back here. RID: 33558

Click to report rating    1/11/08   5     4     4     5     4   First camp experience for my 5 year old - he loved it - never a complaint - he even enjoyed the bus rides - we loved the attention from the owner and senior staff members - really does feel like a family especially since everyone made an effort to be very acmmodating to our needs - with extended hours / and a constantly changing schedule. Click to report rating    11/2/07   3     5     3     4     3   where do people get the idea that ddc is tiny? i went there for 5 years (i left b/c i wanted to go to horse camp)and i always thought, and still to this day think, that the camp is huge. its hilly and picturesque if you ask me, not tiny. the trips are ok, but the facilities are great. there are many days i miss ddc and color war. p.s. somebody complained about a lack of a challenging sports program. its not a sports camp! its a camp with the general activities you expect a camp to have and more. Click to report rating    9/14/07   5     5     5     5     4   hmm where do I begin about Driftwood Day Camp? I was a camper for 6 years and so far a jr. counselor for 1, and every single moment I've spent there is a moment I'll treasure forever. DDC has given me the best times of my life and the best friends I could ever ask for. It's an amazing camp with amazing staff and the most amazing campers. DDC made me who I am today and I absolutely cannot wait until next summer. <3 RID: 15293

Click to report rating    8/18/07   5     5     5     5     5   I worked at Driftwood for many years. After leaving to work at camps closer to home, I have seen what a wonderful camp Driftwood is. I would send my children there in a heart beat. It has a wonderful facility, with an excellent staff. RID: 14157

Click to report rating    12/5/06   5     5     5     5     5   I have worked at driftwood for many years. I am amazed that people would actuallly write things that are not true. The grounds are over 11 acres( I have been told) and for the last several years something has been added each year. I love working at driftwood and my children have had many wonderful summers and have made many wonderful friends. The same adult staff has been there for years. See you in 2007 RID: 5716

8/15/06   5     5     5     5     5   I was a camper for 10 years and I am now a seasoned counselor. The staff is full of licensed teachers and professionals. The grounds are immaculate and children always smile and enjoy their summer. When you break down the vlaue of having such care and individual attention for each and every camper, DDC is a bargain at twice the price. Any review that mentions small grounds or inexperienced staff has obviously not come from the parent of a DDC camper. RID: 2042

Click to report rating    8/12/06   5     3     4     5     1   My Son is a teen at this camp.... and has nothing but great things to say about it. The teen counslers are among the nicest of any other camp and the trips are also top notch. However, I believe that this program is pretty overpriced... other camps around have programs for teens that are around the same price and most of the time include better longer trips. I will definitely send my child back to Driftwood next year because of how much he liked it but the price should be lowered and not raised if the camp wants to help solve a very abundant enrollement issue that the camp has. Click to report rating    8/6/06   5     5     5     5     5   DDC is a personalized camp. It's where everybody knows your name. People smile and have fun and become kids again. It's family oriented and that's the reason I come back year after year! It truly is the place to be and the only place I would be each and every summer! RID: 1859

Click to report rating    6/25/06   5     5     5     5     5   my children have gone here for years. Each day they get off the bus with a smiling face. The staff has been wonderful and caring. THIS CAMP IS about children, not carnival attractions and glitz. The groups my children have been are a nice size but not so big as where they have to wait half a period to get their turn at an activity. I especially like the fact that Gerry the owner is always available to talk to me. I would never send my child anywhere else. RID: 1135

Click to report rating    6/23/06   5     5     5     5     5   My children have attended this camp for several years and I have found that the professional and experienced staff make each child feel special. There are many activities that the children enjoy. The swimming program is well run and small group sizes allow each child a chance to have many opportunities during activities. DDC provides a great camping experience. RID: 1094

Click to report rating    4/10/06   3     2     2     3     2   For the price, there are other camps in the area that offer a lot more. I think the camp could use some updating. RID: 115

Click to report rating    3/20/06   4     2     3     4     2   Small groups so no one has to wait on long lines. Think it is fine for younger children - not very challenging sports program. Facility is in need of a face-lift. Nice swimming instruction with at least 3 pools. Staff is pleasant. Rainy day they take them to movies, bowling, fun zone, etc. RID: 43

Click to report rating    3/12/06   3     4     2     3     3   Nice day camp, featuring small group sizes than the other camps in this area. Activities got a little boring for my child, day after day. Poor indoor facilities for rainy days...they had to go on trips every day it rained. Pretty location. Mediocre staff. RID: 10
