Lanakila is not a camp, it is a state of mind, a collective consciousness of utopian...OK, it's not heaven. But it is the best place I've ever been. It is a place where you ask for help and have to turn some people down because too many have volunteered. There are some people and things that aren't too special, and there are some that you will remember and cherish for the rest of your life. It truly lives up to its motto of creating fine people. Oh, and it's fun. Minibike off the high dive fun. |

Full Disclosure: I have been part of this camp since 1997 as a camper and a counselor. I could write an essay on what this place did for me (I did and it got me into a great college) but for people considering this camp one of the best things we do is have the directors tour the country and host reunions where old camp families meet with perspectives. The reunion I attend every year normally brings in 4-5 old camp families who have sent multiple kids. If you go to the Cleveland Reunion all you have to do is find a Hitchcock, a Reynolds, a Hoyt or a Howell and you’ll get more information than you ever thought possible. I attended Lanakila as a camper for 6 straight years as a camper and loved every moment of it. Its one of those feeling of crying when your parents drop you off because you will miss them, but than crying when they pick you up because you don't want to leave that amazing place. I am now in my third year as a counselor and fully intend to continue working there every summer I can. Lanakila is a great place based on mutual respect, problem management, and most importantly having a great time together! If you are worried about your child making friends, worry no more. Lanakila's system of living makes it easy for everyone to make friends. |

This camp is amazing. I would rate this camp a 10000000000 if i could. i made a lot of cool friends there and there is so much to do there. u are nvr bored and nvr lonely. go to this camp!!!!!!!!!!!! |

This campo was and still is the best experience ive ever had in my whole life. I love everyone here and cant wait to see you. This camp teaches everyone to be a better person combined with amazing staff, activities, and especially, the amazing friends you will have forever. |

The world we live in is becoming more and more materialistic. Lanakila provides young boys a break from the real world. It incorporates the outdoors and activities (such as sailing, wood-shop, and music) with teaching boys kindness and how to have fun without materialistic items. There are very few places like this left in the world, and the experience really is priceless. |

BARNES BOFFEY, THE DIRECTOR OF THE CAMP, IS PROBABLY THE COOLEST GUY YOU'LL EVER MEET. Not only does he have a Ph'D in Cool, but he is also 7'2 and played for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Sign me up for a lifetime of fun at Camp Lanakila! Skol! |

Lanakila is an amazing camp, with tons of great international and local counselors and campers. The everyday activities are terrific, and they also have a great tripping program. Everybody there is friendly and cool to hang out with. |
