Click to report rating    8/6/13   5     5     5     5     5   My daughter attended this camp in 2011 for the 1st week and again, this year (2013) for the "feature film" segment. What I really appreciate about this camp is that I have notice a definite increase in her self-confidence.(She was 8 yo in '11 and 10 yo this year) RID: 45532

Click to report rating    8/2/12   5     5     5     5     5   My daughter just returned from a whirlwind 10 days at the young actors camp. She had an amazing time and is already begging to go back next summer for all the sessions! She did the glee experience and learned more about acting and performing than I had imagined. She had incredible performing opportunities and came home with awesome resumes and a lot of training and classes to add to her resume. The care she got from the staff was excellent. She got sick and the care she received was great. I could never have asked for a better environment. She made new friends from around the world and actually cried when she had to leave Yac and return home. I would definitely recommend this camp for any aspiring actor! RID: 42198

Click to report rating    7/24/12   5     5     5     5     5   Thank you YAC staff for giving my son the opportunity to attend the camp. My son couldnt be happier and the experiences and friendships he shared with the other kids and staff will last him a life time. I highly recommend this program to anyone in the show bussiness industry, whether you a dancer, singer or actor. My son is dancer that is also looking in to combining his dancing skills along with acting. This program has given him the tools, knowledge and point him in the right direction to understand the acting environment. not to mention that their incredible staff made him feel at home. he can't wait to go back to the camp. Thank you YAC. RID: 42059

Click to report rating    7/14/12   5     5     5     5     5   We had an amazing time. YAC program execeeded my expectations! We cannot stop telling people about it. Parent camp taught me what to do and not to do. I highly recommend it. My daughter who is 14 loved the camp and made friends from around the world. She now realizes what needs to be done to get in to the business. Agents, managers and actors gave the campers and parents an in-depth look at the industry. As a parent camper I got to join them during a special presentation at the Academy Of Arts and Science. Learning how to audition will be one of the best practical skills that she learned. Great program! RID: 41702

Click to report rating    7/2/12   3     4     1     2     1   This camp is nothing like it is advertised. It is a camp mainly for younger kids who are not serious about dating. There is hiking and water activities. It is not a camp for older teenagers and the camp is extremely strict. I do not recommend sending a serious aspiring actor or older teen to this camp. RID: 41538

Click to report rating    7/8/11   4     3     3     4     2   The camp was less than expected, based on what was advertised on their web site. This said, my daughter still had a good time and would like to attend again. However, if she returned, we would search for the discount programs that we later discovered were available online for day classes. The camp advertised that the kids would go behind the scenes of Hollywood. This did not happen and they never visited a working set. Only two of the three promised celebrities actually made an appearance. The kids did a lot of sightseeing around Hollywood, but nothing 'behind the scenes' or different from standard tours. Much that was advertised did not materialize. Management is weak on paperwork and details. RID: 36322

Click to report rating    4/26/11   5     5     5     5     5   My child had an amazing experience at this camp. He is 11 and it was his 1st overnight experience. I was really worried he wouldn't stay as we live in Texas. Not only did he stay, he signed up for 2 weeks in 2011 before we even left. All the staff were incredible and he met people from all over the world. He still is in contact with many of them. The kids went to movie sets, worked with professional animals, green screens and just had a great time. The director of the camp has continued to keep in touch with us throughout the year. Truly an incredible experience for all of us! RID: 35743

Click to report rating    4/23/11   5     5     5     5     5   My daughter attended YAC for two years in a row. Both times she went to the three week camp. She had an amazing time both years and has met friends from all over the world. The staff are friendly and fun, the food is good and the activities are wonderful. The acting classes are top notch and she learned more than we expected. She was critiqued by actual Hollywood agents and received good feedback. This is by far the best acting camp you can attend. YAC is ONE big happy family. My daughter wanted to return this year but because she has prior obligations she won't be going this year. She WILL be returning in 2012!!! RID: 35722

Click to report rating    4/22/11   5     5     5     5     5   This camp was worth every penny! My daughter stayed three weeks last summer as a 13-year old & loved it so much she has asked to return. She met friends from all over the WORLD, expanded her acting experience & created a phenomenal resume & reel. I would highly recommend it to any pre-teen or teenager interested in starting their acting career. We found many students were on their 2nd/3rd time attending the camp even. For me as a parent, I dragged my feet, but finally chose to attend the parent camp at the last minute. I am so glad I did! It was incredibly informative and got down to the nuts and bolts of the industry from a parent's perspective. I learned so much from meeting and talking with the other parents in attendance as well. My daughter is now moving to LA this June to attend acting workshops and audition as she was just signed by an agent and manager. We are from Iowa and this is incredibly exciting! We both still credit YAC for setting us in the right direction! RID: 35714

Click to report rating    4/22/11   5     5     5     5     5   What a great choice we made for my child's first overnight camp experience. The website was easy to navigate and informative, which is key when you are sending your daughter out of state to attend camp. Last year, she attended the acting camp and the pre-professional program. She enjoyed the activities and the classes and felt so much more prepared for what the industry is looking for. By the end of the two weeks, she was begging to stay for the movie camp. She was able to transfer what she learned to take advantage of local opportunities and even apply these skills to become more interactive in school. That's why we are returning this summer, to build on the skills she developed last year and attend the Casting Call camp. While she learned quite a bit from a skills base and industry knowledge perspective, most of all she had fun and made some good friends from all over the world. RID: 35713

Click to report rating    4/21/11   5     5     5     5     5   The staff were AMAZING!! She learned more there in one week, than in an entire semester of acting classes at home. She made lifelong friends from around the world and is looking forward to going back again soon! Her time spent at camp was invaluable in her quest to gain knowledge and experience about acting and the business. I would highly recommend the camp to any and all kids whether they are serious about acting or it is just a hobby. Best money we ever spent on a summer camp!!! RID: 35705

Click to report rating    4/19/11   5     5     5     5     5   I have gone to Young Actors Camp for two years, and I plan on going this summer as well. The training is great for all acting levels (inexperienced and experienced). Each camper has the option to choose which elective classes to take, which is awesome! While acting classes involve work they are still fun. The things I've learned at camp continue to help me in my acting and the friends I have made at camp are still some of my closest friends. Click to report rating    4/17/11   5     5     5     5     4   My daughter LOVED this camp! She attended the 10 day "Glee Experience" in 2010 and will be back for the full 5 week session in 2011. Yes, it is expensive (although no more so than most other private residential camps), but it was worth every penny. Not only did she learn lessons pertinent to acting, she learned important life lessons in tolerance (campers from all over the world and different backgrounds), perseverance, and personal responsibility (no mommy telling her what to do!). The staff were pleasant and knowledgeable. I felt very comfortable leaving my 11 year old in the care of Nichelle and the counselors. She may not be the next big star, but my daughter has learned important life lessons from her time at YAC. RID: 35676

Click to report rating    11/4/10   5     5     5     5     5   My son visted this camp for the first time this summer (2010). I also attended the parent training and found it to be very resourceful. The agent panel were top agencies and managers. My son auditioned for this panel and the feedback was provided with one interested in him. He also audioned in front of casting directors and got good feedback. My son got a lot out of the three week camp. The staff has continued to work with me and answer questions since I have returned home. My son returned home one week and went back for another week. It is a great experience he is scheduled to return this summer and is part of the pilot season program they are offering at the beginning of the year. I also paid the extra money for the labels of agents and casting directors. We have had a good response from agencies and have scheduled several auditions for representation through Nov. 2010. My son made lots of friends from all over the world that he cont. to keep in touch with POSITIVE Experience. RID: 34356

Click to report rating    3/14/10   5     5     5     5     5   My daughter is 10 years old and this was her first overnight camp experience. She had a fabulous time and has built friendships with the other campers from all over the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. She continues to stay in touch with her camp friends through e-mail, i-chat, and skype. I cannot say enough about the YAC staff. They are caring, experienced, highly skilled, and well-connected with Hollywood and the acting industry. Nichelle, the camp director was very present. She created a safe environment and scheduled a variety of classes and activities that my daughter will remember for a lifetime. The YAC experince helped my daughter to become confident and independent. I attended the parent camp run by a casting director from Hollywood. She gave us the tools and resources necessary to get our children into the acting industry. One of the highlights of my daughter's YAC experience was meeting and taking classes with the Brenda Song and Anna Sophia Robb. I highly recommend this camp! RID: 32355

Click to report rating    3/7/10   1     3     1     1     1   It is very hard to find a camp that you will comfortable in, especially when your parents are not around. The staff were so selfish that my child did not want to speak to any of them. The price is just way over the limits for what this camp is offering. Hopefully, this year will be better but they were not organized AT ALL. The only good thing is that the kids are educated and friendly although some left others out. The activities were pointless, talking does not help a child learn. The attention given to the kids by the staff is absolutely horrible! Sometimes, you feel like they pay attention to other kids, or the "more talented" kids for some reason. It is good to be around L.A if you decided your child should go to this camp. Otherwise, I would recommendgoing to another camp. RID: 32296

Click to report rating    2/21/10   5     5     5     5     5   It is with great pleasure that I post this comment regarding Young Actors Camp. My daughter found this camp. Out of all the options in the world she chose to make it her primary trip this last year. We are from Spain. It was quite comforting knowing that every call from her was thrilling and joyful. I had to call the office a few times to advance her money and change flight plans. The office was on top of each request and change immediately. I hope all young actors have an opportunity to experience this program. It was honestly the one opportunity for my daughter to TOUCH and live her dream. RID: 32225

Click to report rating    2/16/10   5     3     5     4     4   My daughter enjoyed this camp. The training and off-site activities are appropriate and pertinent. I feel the staff managed her and my expectations realistically. Their objectives are genuine. If I needed to reach Nichelle, she was accessible and truly cared about her campers. The movies they produced are done well and provided a real-life experience for aspiring actors. The panel did lead to representation for us. I am not familiar with other acting camps but I would recommend this camp without reservation. RID: 32206

Click to report rating    2/16/10   5     5     5     5     5   I love this camp. My daughter feels at home at this camp. The staff is dedicated, upbeat and honestly want to see all the kids succeed with their dreams of becoming actors. Nichelle Rodriguez the camp director offers assistance and guidance all year long. She never stops working for you. My daughter's whole world turned around after going to Young Actors. If I could give it 10 stars I would. RID: 32205

Click to report rating    12/15/09   1     3     1     1     1   Horrible, horrible scam. There are so many better acting camps in LA and it takes some research to find them. YAC uses flashy advertising and reels starry eyed kids in by telling them lies. The agent panel only consisted of four barely known agents, the movie ended up going no where, and the camp itself wasn't even taught by actors. Stay away from this camp! RID: 31727

Click to report rating    11/1/07   1     5     3     2     2   Well YAC was a camp with good intentions, but badly organized. It took them 45 min. to come get me in the airport and I stood thier waiting 4 someone. Everything that fallowed at YAC was the same. The agents pannel was a rip off u payed 50 extra dollars added to the 5,000 dollar camp. Also u had to shell out 100 extra a week just to cover basic needs ie: food and stuff! To have agents tell you you are akward and 2 skinny. The only reason I would suggest going there is if u REALLY REALLY need a movie on your resume! Also my friend got kcked out for saying the F-word! The counslers gave u punishment if u missed ur number in roll call, strict camp and overpriced! RID: 16675
