Click to report rating    5/21/12   1     1     1     1     1   My daughter's came home with story of how there group was being punished for something 1 person did and were told they could not go back to their cabins not even to use the restrooms! They were made to go in the words! This is a co-ed camp!! Counselors are 18-19yrs. old and the are in charge of teens the same age! I will never recommend this camp! RID: 41095

Click to report rating    3/4/12   5     4     5     5     5   I went to visit at the open house today even though my kids were already signed up. We were greeted by the directors with a smile. Each year the program changes so my kids can't wait to go back. This is our third summer and there is always new things to do. My kids do the count down every year and we never worry about our boys when they are there. RID: 40446

Click to report rating    12/30/11   4     3     3     2     3   I went for 6 years and just quit this year due to the camp getting more people and the camp really couldn't contain that many people. I always felt like someone wanted to bump into me especially near the pools. A lot of the kids are from the Marlboro, Monroe, and Manalapan area so most of the kids were quite cliquey. They have a pretty strict no bullying policy and have seen many kids banned due to it. Most of the bullies go on to different camps. As you get older groups get bigger due to lack of counselors as all of them are in the younger divisions and then at one point the whole group is a mix of 7th and 8th grade girls. You get what you pay for and is a great camp overall I recommend this to people who want a very traditional and family atmosphere. I never really saw a kid frowning on eagle river property. Click to report rating    12/28/11   2     4     3     3     4   ok so iv been going to this camp since i was 11 and i had a great time as a camper! of course i was bored at points but there was always something to do and places to go. when i was a camper i didnt really like the lake and noone made me go in. my counseler under stood my fear and sat with me untill the activity ended so i wasnt lonley! i worked last summer as a junior counseler and i had a great time working with my division. THe camp has also expanded thier trip policy to 2 trips a week i beleave? but anyway i would deffinatly send you child here! i made new friends that i still talk to even though camp for us ended 2 years ago. the directors are always ontop of their staff to make sure your kids are having a blast. sure the days feel long when your not feeling so hot but someone is always smiling and trying to cheer you up!  10/8/11   2     2     3     2     3   It is an okay camp but for older kids forget it. This is a camp for littler kids and it's easy to see why. Little kids get to have arts and crafts, ceramics, computers, woodshop, cooking, music, nature, mad science, dance, ropes course, soccer, gaga, DDR, and so much other stuff that's makes the day with their groups so much fun. Older kids have 2 day trips a week and have electives when not on a trip. The electives have the same things as younger kids but only get a few per time period. There aren't a lot of upper campers and there really aren't any new kids. Most kids when they get older leave camp or go on to others such as black bear lake, frogbridge, (the one I'm going to), and rolling hills. Look into this program for little kids, older kids... Try else where. RID: 37039

5/16/11   5     5     5     5     5   I'm sending my kids here this summer for the first time. They had a bad experience at another local camp and when we visited Eagle River they made us feel at ease. Ruth Ann, one of the directors, is warm and caring and the group size is very small. something I like as a parent. Definitely check out this camp! The lake is beautiful! RID: 35911

Click to report rating    9/30/09   1     2     2     1     3   This is not a place I would recommended. My child came home and complained to me everyday. The only thing that he did not complain about was his camp counselor and he was fired for a reason that is still unknown to me. RID: 31146

Click to report rating    9/24/08   5     5     5     5     5   You have no idea how wonderful this place is. It is the clanest place you will ever go to, there is the nicesest staff and the directors are so kind. There is over 450 kids that go to camp and the directors know all of them. EVEN THEIR NAMES!!!! I definitly think you should send your kids here. It is the best camp, and trust me, I have seen many. I love eagle river. EVERYTHING there is about the campers and staff. Everyone helps everyone and its just to great for words......... RID: 26706

Click to report rating    2/6/07   4     4     4     4     4   My son went to this camp last summer and we were satisfied. We will be sending him here this summer also. The only issue I had were the children eat their lunch outside under a pavillion so there are a lot of flies around the food. If they could do something to remedy this then all would be well. Perhaps in the future they could have some type of inside air conditioned facility. RID: 7579

Click to report rating    7/14/06   5     4     4     3     2   well, this camp is very nice. but it does have its down sides. I have been going for 2 years (since it opend}. the first year was better because there werent as much campers as the second year. the staff is friendly, and they are willing to help. They have many things to do, such as, a man made lake, with a enormous water trampoline in the middle, and A LOT of other things. The campers are relitivley nice. Of coarse, the older campers are more mature, but everyone gets around the younger campers. The upper camp, grades: 5,6,7, 8, L.I.T(leader in training) and C.I.T's(councular in traning) go on trips once a week, to places like the beach, tubing down the deleware or a trenton thunder baseball game. We have a great time. However, the money is quite expenicve. we are talking roughly $2,00, but you rather leave your camper knowing that they are safe, and having fun, so i think its worth it. Overall it is a clean, and safe and fun place to be. RID: 1405
