I volunteered here as a C.I.T. for 2 summers back in the early 1990's, and I loved it! They offer a great program, and the campers get lots of attention. There are usually 2 or 3 counselors assigned to each group, plus 1 or 2 C.I.T.'s. Camp Hope is all about the campers and meeting their needs. If a camper was afraid to go in the pool, we were right by his/her side. If a camper didn't want to do the day's art project, we just gave him/her crayons and paper to color with. If a camper had trouble with something, we lent a hand. More importantly, the staff was extremely responsible. We always kept a close eye on the campers to make sure no one wandered off. If a camper had even the smallest cut , or the slightest bit of stomachache, he/she was taken right to the nurse. Finally, we had the basic activities, plus special days on Fridays, like Carnival Day. Besides camper safety, having fun was our top priority.
