If you send ur child here i feel sympathetic for them. I was here for 2 summers and this personally was my personal hell. My entire family went her and some loved it some wanted to jump in the camp fire. I cried myself to sleep every single night here. These girls are soo evil and happy and mean spirited and racist. So are ALL the staff. I cannot tell you in enough words how miserable i was here. The people who are writing good reviews here i promise you they have a yacht and fit in the jew crowd. I’m jewish and these girls calling me mexican for having olive skin. I got kicked out of here because everything the girls did to me they said i did. to them. They teamed up on me to get me kicked out. The girls slapped me in my face, tried ripping my nails off, said i would shake the floor, push me, talked**** about me in front of me, and so so much more. My terrible counselers couldn’t give less of a flying **** but cared when i defended myself. Please do not go here it’s absolute torcher

This is not a good place to work either. If you are not a camp insider, expect the management to look for ways to get rid of you before the end of summer to avoid having to pay bonus'. And the comments about the staff...Well morale plunges as the summer progresses because of hostile work environment and lack of freedom.

I have to second the other reviews that the owners are just in it for the money. They are from the Hamptons and sit back & collect $12K checks for each camper while minimum wage summer workers do all the work (which many are not qualified for). The facilities are great, but the staff just ruins it. Their cost per child is probably around $2000 per summer, yet they pocket the extra $10K as net profit instead of hiring qualified counselors to help the children and pay for more variety in activities. I will never send my child here again, he was so bored and could not wait to get off the bus and home.

Don't go here, the staff sucks and your child will end up doing the same activities day after day. You also don't get any attention from the staff and if there was a conflict between two campers, they always side with the one who's family is putting more money into this place, no matter how wrong they could be.

2009 was my son's first summer at Camp Equinunk. All of the camps my wife and I visited had impressive facilities and a great program. What truly set apart Equinunk was the extraordinary level of child care provided by Richie, Sheryl, Adam and their counselor staff - as was clearly evident by how well they know their campers when touring us around. No other camp director (the few that actually toured us) even came close to knowing as much about their campers as Richie and Adam did. The personal level of commitment to our family and son this summer was overwhelming. The first week of camp our son certainly had is fair share of tears. Not only did his group head call every night the first week, and then a few times a week after that, Richie and Adam would frequently call. The friendships made with his bunkmates and counselors this summer are truly special and almost everyday we hear the "countdown" until next summer. Furthermore, we will be sending our 7 y/o daughter to Blue Ridge!

if it was not for this camp who knows hat i would have been doing i love this place and its the only place where i fell right and i can just be my self. its a place where reality is no issue. t makes me sad that this year will be my last year as a camper because i would give anything to relive the entire exsprianse over again. if parents you are reading this, i hope you can grasp what im saying its more then just brotherhood and tradition its a paradise and a heaven for me, i could not think of any place that could compare with equinink. the friends you make hear last a lifetime you truly build character at equinunk, there was a time when this great camp was gonna close down and if it wasent for richie who gave this camp one more chance i would never have been a true equinunk man. sure you have home friends who are great but at equinunk there your brothers every one is equal and treated with respect. thats about all i can fit.yours truly Ben S us09RFSus09RF?,GF "seniors unite for equi

If your son is a true athelete than this is not the camp for him. My son attended several summers and became bored with the same routine everyday. The level of play was not very competitive and the sports instruction was fair. The counselors are juniors in high school. These are not experienced staff at all. The counselors where not mature enough to deal with tough situations for example one boy peed on another one while he was in the shower. My son got attention from his head counselor but never got the right time of the day from Richie. When my son was unhappy we never received a phone call from Richie. That truly surprised us because the motto of the camp is that they are truly their for the kids. This is not the case. Just remember that what they are selling you is not the truth. Buyer beware!!!!

Equinunk is the perfect camp for all boys, whether or not their prime interest is in sports, all boys will have fun here. No doubt this camp caters to your every need, and will make your child feel more than comfortable.

Owners are arrogant @$$H.... who only care about the money. If you expect a your child to get extra attention, your absoulutley wrong because Richie is self centered, along with Sheryl. You are wasting time and money if you are sending your children to this camp. If you care please do your children a favor and send them elsewhere!!!

Brotherhood and tradition are the backbone in this camp. However, the kids are spoiled brats and there is definitely not a lot of personal attention to the campers.

Owner is as arrogent as them come. Caters to alumni and although new comers $ is welcomed forget about special attention. Richie refers to himself as King Solomon with all his wisdom. That should say it all.

This camp is pretty good overall, but there are some real spoiled snobby kids there who run around like they own the place to watch out for.

While this camp ahas had a great run under the directtion of Kevin Daley, it appears the camp is going in a different direction. It was a well run camp but quite frankly I would be concerned in what direction they are going. The head counselor was very attentive and had the respect of the counselors. Ownership is phasing out and is very unpopular with staff. Camp has great traditions but I would question their direction with out Kevin. There are other camps in the area that have stability at the administrative level that you may want to look at. There are over 50 camps in the area. They have also raised tuition again this year and cut back another day. There are better values out there.

This will be my boys 2nd and 3rd summers at Equinunk and it has been nothing short of amazing. The attention given by the owners, and also from the boys former head counselors exceeded my expectations. Of the dozens of camps visited when looking for a camp for my family, Equinunk stood out as a camp that would give exceptional care to my children and the direct involvement by the directors. Every summer has been better than the last and the dedication by the adminstration continues to impress me. If you are considering a sleepaway camp for your children you must give then a call.

I went there, my kids went there, my son just went back as a counselor at 19, 2 years removed, to be with 5 of the 6 kids in his bunk his first year. I play golf with my counselor from 34 years ago. It is one of the few camps which becomes a special permanent part of every camper for life. Read the book "Equinunk, Tell Your Story" if you want to truly understand this very special place.

Blue ridge and equinnunk is the most funfilled camp. the activites are fun energetic and great. staff is always topnotch and the food is amazing. the personal attenion is like no other. this camp is brother sister but boys and girls are seperated by the lake the boys and girls see eachother every sunday, socials, disco, cabaray, and canteen. we have a lake thats heated and a pool.the bunks are clean and so are the campgrounds. the mess hall is large and after every meal we sing camp songs. there are no camp bullies, everyone at camp get along. this camp has been is the new york times 2 times and highlights magazine 4 times. every friday we have 10 minute serviecesfor the sabbath.also on sabbath wew get the "B" award. the B award is an award witch 1 kid from eachgroup gets aweek to show care, kindness, campmenship, ect. this camp is awsome funfilled and all thats good i give it a 100!

A strong camp overall. Some cabins were getting run-down, but new ones have been built over the past few years. They consistently add new facilities and activities each year. The administration is very in touch and does a good job providing for both camper and staff needs.
