Click to report rating    2/10/24   5     5     5     5     5   Our family loves Kamaji! So many fun activities for my daughter to choose from each summer. The directors are also very involved in creating a fun, safe environment for your daughter to have a great experience at Kamaji. RID: 53965
Click to report rating    5/4/19   5     4     4     5     4   I am a current camper at Kamaji, and it is amazing. The food may not be the best overall, but otherwise I have no complaints. The owners of camp (currently Kat and Jason) truly care about campers and train counselors to be the best. Go waubuns!! RID: 52602
2/14/18   1     3     4     1     2   I was severely bullied and the staff did nothing. The camp also did not allow me to be a jr. counselor due to a non-contagious health condition I had no control over (why I still wanted to return after such a bad experience is a mystery). That is discrimination! They also would refuse to admit you to the infirmary. The food was so bad for you, everyone gained a ton of weight. They also forced you to go swimming in the freezing cold lake, and go on a canoe trip even if you did not want to. There is no bathroom or electricity in the cabins. The bathrooms are disgusting. The camp has gotten so expensive, its not worth your money. RID: 51654
Click to report rating    1/8/14   5     5     5     5     5   Kamaji is the best camp ever! You make lifelong friendships, the food is amazing, the activities are so fun; everything is perfect! It's going to be my 4th year at camp this year, and I just can't wait! Counting down the days till camp starts :) RID: 46518
Click to report rating    8/24/13   5     5     5     5     5   I have two girls who love kamaji. They return home full of confidence. Singing and sharing stories about their 4 week adventure. Both girls rave about the food. I have one daughter with food allergies and the kitchen staff does an amazing job making sure her food is safe, delicious and similar to what everyone is eating. Kamaji has been the perfect camp experience for our family. RID: 45832
8/15/13   3     2     2     1     1   The camp leadership is awful. They are intolerant of differences in girls' interest and discriminate against girls who are not "girly". Mike is the worst. This camp is expensive and terrible. We'll be sending our girls to Sanborn from here on out. Lesson Learned. RID: 45697
Click to report rating    7/28/13   5     5     5     5     5   Love, love, love this camp! Perfect for my daughter!! RID: 45413
Click to report rating    6/30/13   5     5     5     5     5   Camp kamaji is much more than a summer camp. It's a second home for girls to be themselves. Camp Kamaji is by far the best place to send your daughter. They will learn things they could never learn at home. They can try waterskiing and windsurfing. They can even try sailing. They are never put into situations where they feel uncomfortable or into something that they don't want to do. The camp is secluded in the woods where the girls are free to wear what they want, and to be the type of person they want to be. It's truly heaven on earth. I wish all girls could experience Kamaji. Click to report rating    5/21/13   5     5     5     5     5   My daughter has attended camp for three years and loves it! When we went to visit her the facilities were nice and the food was great! All of the staff is super nice and the directors are great! She can't wait to go back for her fourth summer this year! RID: 44543
Click to report rating    3/9/13   3     3     3     2     2   It just came up that we where looking for a summer camp for our daughter this evening, and we asked her about returning to Kamaji after last summer. She flat out said no. We where shocked we thought she LOVED it. Turns out the only thing she loved about it was the friends she made and a few of the counselors. News to us. After probing a bit more from her (she's now a full blown teenager) the food was terrible (apparently) the weather was miserable half the time (apparently) the cabins leaked (apparently) and the lake still had ice in it.... I'm thinking her main problem was we sent her in the first half of the summer... She won't be returning Summer Camp should be remembered with happy memories :-) well stick close to home in California this year :-) RID: 43921
Click to report rating    1/6/13   5     5     5     5     5   After 5 years of being a camper there, Kamaji truly became my second home: the place where I matured, where I learned new skills, and (most importantly) where I met lifelong friends. RID: 43326
Click to report rating    10/6/12   5     5     5     5     5   I LOVE this camp, I don't get how people can say they don't. I can't wait to go again! GO METIGS! Great camp for all! RID: 42813
Click to report rating    7/20/12   1     3     1     1     1   DO NOT SEND YOUR KID TO THIS CAMP. I personally attended this camp after going to a different camp for 6 years I decided to change camps because I wanted to try a more woodsy, girl focused camp as opposed to a coed camp. The evening programes were awful We sat in our cabin For the first 7 days of camp it was 50* outside and raining. we did not have activities. and we were forced to swim in freezing cold water. If you were running a fever below 102* they did not admit you to the infirmary. The camp director is a raging lunatic, who should not be allowed around any kids. He yells at the children and sets heinous rule which are only exist for his sake after six years at an amazing camp with loving counselors and great programing including activities I was taken back by the awful quality of kamaji the only reason children like it, is that they are oblivious to the fact that there are better options out there. Do not send your child here when there are other better camp options out there. RID: 41813
Click to report rating    7/17/12   5     5     5     5     5   Camp kamaji is the best summer camp ever! Camp kamaji is diffrent then any other camp. One example is the diffrent tribes. Most camps have color wars but camp kamaji has tribe day. The staff is amazing. I come home every year and rave to my mother about the amazing staff. Every single person is there to better a campers summer. The extensive amount of activities gives every chaper a chance to do what they love. It also gives the campers a chance to try something new. I was in a cabin with 11 girls this year. We had 4 staff members. They were all so amazing. I had a chance to connect with all of the staff members in my cabin. That you for a second amazing summer camp kamaji! If you're looking for an amazing summer camp for your daughter, you're looking atthe right camp! RID: 41756
Click to report rating    5/20/12   5     5     5     5     5   A nurturing environment where girls feel free to be themselves and can truly thrive. RID: 41093
Click to report rating    9/30/11   5     5     5     5     4   My daughter thrived at Camp Kamaji. She came back more confident, happy and carefree. She tried new activities like paddleboarding, waterskiing, archery and horseback riding and made wonderful friends from all over the US and even some from other countries as well. The counselor's letters were detailed and accurate and my phone calls and emails were always addressed promptly, thoroughly and personally by each director (Mike, Kathy and Kat). My expectations for my daughter's summer camp experience were exceeded by Kamaji. RID: 36994
Click to report rating    6/30/11   3     4     4     2     3   I was a staff member about 5 years ago. I saw fellow staff smoking pot after lights out many places on camp grounds. I did bring this issue to the owners and they fired a few ppl, but kept the staff that had been there for years (I assume so they don't lose donations). I didn't think that was right at all. Owners are only in it for the money. RID: 36257

8/11/09   5     4     3     1     1   The camp director puts the kids in tears! On one occasion he told some staff not to worry about working the kids till they cry. Most kids come from the office after a 'Mike talk' in hysterics, no matter what, even if it wasn't there fault your kid is ALWAYS wrong, Mike will not hear otherwise! The food is FULL of fat and sugar, not the most ideal diet for growing kids. RID: 30700

11/10/08   5     5     5     5     4   Kamaji gave my daughter an experience that truly changed her life. She returns from camp each summer happy, healthy, confident and downright effervescent. Kamaji is a safe, fun and caring environment. It's clear the directors concentrate on the campers and what is best for each and every girl. Kamaji values diversity of all kinds. Each summer seems stronger than the one before. I trust the staff and the directors with my daughter, which is the highest compliment I can offer. Do not look any further for a camp for your daughter. RID: 27411
Click to report rating    7/28/08   5     5     3     3     1   for what i was paying, food could be so much better than lots of sugar and carbs! my daughter came back 5lbs heavier! and the director what ever his name was could be nicer to my girls, he seemed a real ass on the phone! RID: 25182
Click to report rating    7/16/08   5     5     5     5     5   We send both of our daughters - it is an amazingly positive experience. You will not find a better collection of kids or staff - our kids return recharged and full of confidence. RID: 24881
