I feel like I owe this to future parents to share this information. Our son ended up breaking his arm on Wed during a rough game of gaga ball. An older boy hit his arm very hard during the game. The counselors took our son to the nurse, but she gave him ice and said he was fine. No other care was given to him the rest of the week. AND NO ONE CALLED US! By Sat, when I him, I knew something was seriously wrong. His left arm was swollen. He was unable to use his arm after this occurred & no adult around our son did anything to help him!? I took him straight to the urgent care after pick-up and we found out his forearm was broken. Now we are in a cast the rest of the summer & all his other camps he can't attend. Those all had to be pre-paid & this is a huge financial stress & strain on our family. What a monumental failure on Camp Cho-Yehs part to keep my son safe, follow appropriate safety measures, & appropriately inform parents of health issues. We will never go back. I need a refund.

Last year was my first year,I personally enjoyed camp cho-yeh I think that they get you closer to god and they don’t pour it all on you meaning they don’t just bore you out with Jesus, the activities are amazing the counselors are great the food is great, and I can tell you memories will be made. Overall I think it’s a good camp and it’s worth it.

I sent my kids to camp cho yeh the first time, their first experience was bad, like others reviews everything was spread out so far that you have to walk for miles to get to something. I spent $1000 per kid to have fun but they made my kids do chores while they their, they made my kids clean the shower, clean the rest room like a slave, sweep floor, wipe benches v.v don't waste your money. And did they ever get permission from parents or advertising on their web site that chores are giving out to kids during their stay? I paid money for them to have fun not to work for them. These should be the counselors job or they should get the money that we paid them to hire people to do the job not the kids, this isn't right. Tomorrow is their departure date we will go there to file complaints and pickup the kids out of that place and will never ever come back, advise to all the parents be careful before you sign up and pay big bucks, save your money for somewhere else. Definitely not recom

This is such a great camp! This will be my second year. It is a bit cliquish but still a lot of fun. The counselors care about you and the cabins are very nice. There is A TON of walking but it's summer camp so it doesn't matter that much. Overall it's AMAZING!!!

My son was highly disappointed with the experience because he did not get to do some of the activities due to the counselors lack of attention. The facilities were ok but not great.

This Camp is okay, I went here last summer and while the location and people were nice, there was something seriously wrong with the drinking water, tasted very metallic. The cabins were relatively new, and were clean however. So if you go, make sure to bring one of those Brita water bottles with the filter inside so you can drink the water. Also the food is not great, so don't get too excited. But the people are nice and there is a good amount of activities to do, I never once got bored.

I have en going to camp cho yeh since I was 5 years old! This year will be my 7th year and I'm officially proud of it! My brother has gone there for at least 9 years and this year will be his 10th but last year he started counceling! This year he will be a counselor again and he's a GREAT one! Camp cho yeh is my 2nd home and a great place to put your child for 1-2-3-however many weeks you want them to go! For the first 4 years of camp I went for one week, 5-6 were both 2 weeks and this year I GET TO GO FOR 3 WEEKS!!! I'm super excited! My mother net to camp cho yeh when it was an I'd rundown camp in the 70s. IT IS MY 2ND HOME! #iloveyoucampchoyeh

I love the way my church and everybody else talks about it. I cant wait to go this year. I already got a letter from one of my councelours. I got a scholarship for $645.00 and my uncle paid a hundred. They even have little care packages that you can get before camp even starts.

The staff and cabin counselors are young, well intentioned, but not well trained and inexperienced. I would say some of the young male staff are wimps and do not know how to handle strong willed kids or conflicts well. They naively think that all the campers will just get along. None of the ones I met were strong, commanding role models. All of them appear to wimpy H.S. kids. One of my sons this year was severely picked on, and became so miserable that he demanded to go home.

my child attended cho-yeh in the summer of 2008 and 2010 with the Camp Kaana group. she loved it so much the first time that she asked to go back, and I let her. She's been to about 7 different church and academic summer camps in Texas, and C-Yeh was her favorite. (carolina creek was her distant second favorite)

It is the most amazing camp in the entire world (to me) and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The staff is thoughtful, helpful and caring. The facilities are spectacular and the activities always keep your heart rate up and you have a blast there. It a great price for a great camp. *Written by an actual camper*

For me Cho-Yeh is great! Being one of the only african american that go there I was scared that I wouldn't fit in. But everyone treated me equally and not for one second I felt out of place. This will be my 6th year going and I personally never get tired of it. I have meet friends there and we go at the same time every year, I have formed friendship that will last a lifetime. Also you are able to form a amazing relationship with God. Camp Cho-Yeh is what you make it. If you go there thinking with a negative attitude then your experience won't be that great. You have to be open-minded and willing to take new opportunities, then there's not doubt in my mind that you will have the time of your life!

Camp cho yeh is one of my favorite places in the world!! I love it and look forward to going evry year. I am 14 and still love it. The activities are great and the christian environment is awesome. The councelors are great and fun and make you feel good about yourself, and are great listeners. It isnt clique- ish at all. All you have to do is be nice and you will make great friends. And you can really be yourself. I went for 2 weeks last summer and it was amazing. Our cabin got really close and we had so much fun. Camp Cho-Yeh is the bomb.com and I cant wait to go back next year!!!! :)

Like almost everything, cho yeh has its cons and pros. My first impression of cho yeh was that it was small: the lake, the dinning hall, the basketball court, and the cabins, which by the way - if you are in the oldest groups, you get the cheap/old/that literally shake when you walk in. It seems as if they are stealing people's money to make a lot of profit, and use some of the money to buy a lot of cheap stuff. The meals are great. Counselors are amazing, but there are some that will not look at you in the face. In addition, most kids there are not down to earth at all, it made me feel so bad for them, I didn't say anything to them though because who am I right? I told my counselor about it, and he understood. Now a little recap on how focused the camp is on Christianity. I've attened a much more Christian camp than this, so its up to the parents if they want their kids to have fun or find God. They only spend an 1/1.5hr doing praise and worship through the entire day.

I loved this camp:) it taught me a lot about myself, and Christ. I had so much fun with the alpha/omega showdowns, cabin time, bible study, lake, and activities. I loved this camp so much that this year I am going with4 of my friends:) the counselers are younger, so it is easier to bond with them. I made lots of friends when I was there and I give this camp a 10/10. I can not wait for this year camp! yay! cho yeh rocks!

Summer 2008 was my 11th year at cho-yeh and i still love it. I was in CLT while i would recommend to anyone who is 16 years old! They have also started making the activates more "teen friendly" you now can go to Lake Livingston for the day and you get to water ski, wake bored etc. I love the way this camp makes me feel and how much closer I feel to god once i leave. I do not believe it is cliquish at all you just have to talk to the other campers and if you do you will make friends that will last a lifetime. Unfortunately it was my last year as a camper after doing clt thats it...camper wise the next summer you can apply to be work crew and then after that you can apply to be a consoler which is my goal. I love Cho-Yeh, I love the place and I love the people!

This is a well-run camp, and the staff is genuine and caring. It is cliquish, especially for the older kids. I worry about sending your girls there because image is so big.

Good for younger kids, but once you hit thirteen or fourteen, the camp doesn't seem so great. The kids are a bunch of stuck-up rich snobs who go around making each other feel lower than they really are. Plus, they have completely seperated the boys and girls (Housing is a no-brainer, but several activities, meals, program, and other things are now same-gender), so you can't get some healthy interaction. Also, if you are looking for a camp that is the ultimate in Christian teachings and highs, Cho-Yeh is not a safe bet. Yes, we read from the bible and pray, but they don't make you think about yourself, so you leave while dancing around, thinking you are the perfect christian. As I said, it is an excellent camp for the younger set. I am now 15, and this was the first year I did not go in 8 years. The younger kids should fit in if they are upper middle class white kids who make friends easily. Otherwise, they cannot expect to make friends at this extremely clique-ish camp.
