7/25/17   2     2     1     1     2   I visted this camp for 4 nights through a "Sleep-A-Week" program with my old day camp. And let me tell you, it almost scared me off sleepaway camp for life! The bunks were disgusting and cramped, and the showers had mold. The pool was foggy, and the activities were... less than desirable. There were barely any water refiling stations around camp, and I was almost dehydrated! About half of the activities were held in little hut lke things. But, the icing on top of the cake was the food. It was awful! One day they sevred mac-and-cheese. Almost half of my cabin got sick, and one girl had to sleep in the infirmary! Tjis was not while I was there, but ONE BOY LITERALLY DIED FROM "GASTROMINAL ISSUES! DIED! If you care about your children and want to give them a valuable camp experience, DO NOT send them to camp Nah Jee Wah. RID: 51080

We all think its because of either the food or there was a virus already going on there. I am sorry but I don't like this much! I loved the big swing activity and the banana boat, but that's all I liked. the rooms and bunks were OK. But I am sorry I don't like this camp from the virus! RID: 45470

Click to report rating    1/12/13   4     4     4     4     5   I've been going to nahjeewah for 2 years and I love it. I don't know where to begin! Well first of all, the activities are soooo much fun. Activities include: creramics, cooking, games, newspaper, arts and crafts, den, lake, pottery, woodshop, athletics, drama, den, high ropes, chemistry, biology, astronomy, dance, and even more! We eat 3 meals a day with 2 snacks. Sure the food isnt te best by camp isn't all about the food! There is a wide variety of food: breakfast-any cereal you can imagine, eggs, bagels, French toast, French toast sticks, ect.... Morning drinks include hot cocoa, orange juice, and water. Lunch-Mac n cheese, pasta, salad bar, pb+j sandwiches, pizza, grilled cheese, ect.,.... Dinner- lasagna, baked ziti, sloppy joe, Chinese food, pasta, salad bar, pb+j sandwiches, ect.. On a scale of 1-10 the food gets a 7. Bunks: on a scale from 1-10 bunks get a 8.5. The only problem is that the bunks aren't so spacious. I think there isn't enough room but we manage. I ? NJW!!! Click to report rating    10/2/12   3     3     4     3     4   Being a non for profit camp, nah jee wah is not going to dig too deep into your pockets. The food is quite acceptable for camp, and the medical attention is pretty good. After sending my child there for one summer we have decided to give it another try. My one major complaint is the camp director, Anne Tursky, is very unapproachable, and not friendly. RID: 42789

I'm going to CLC for my first year but i hear its FANTASTIC! the food is good for a sleep away camp and two of my best camp friends are gluten free and they say the gluten free food is actually not bad, its pretty good! i suggest NJW or CLC! the activities are super fun the counselors are so nice and if u don't feel good the Big I (the infirmary) is great and all the nurses so sweet! i have had a great time every year! i have made amazing friends! hope you go, you won't regret it! Click to report rating    7/15/12   1     1     1     1     1   If you like the taste of prison food then you'll enjoy this camp. I used to send my children here but once I visited the camp it totally changed the way I thought about it. To start, it doesn't feel like a camp. The kids are set up in bunks with electricity and bathrooms! The camp my kids go to now they have "shelters" which is basically a roof with screen around it. Now that's a fun and authentic camp experience. When we visited the kids on visiting day the food was disgusting. They say this is usually what they eat. BLECHHHH! GROSS! My children also spoke of "too many activities". It was hard to choose what you wanted and everything was always filled up. The "lake" is more like a pond. It smells bad and the water is red with plenty of duck feathers. Not good swimming water. RID: 41725

Click to report rating    4/7/09   5     5     5     5     5   My older son went for three years and has now moved up to CLC. My younger one went to First Step last year and will be going to NJW this summer for one session. They both LOVE the camp. More things to do then there is time to do them...food? yeah, it's camp...but for camp it's not bad! Great responsiveness from camp staff for us parents (we had a medical issue that needed attention and were very pleased with the way it was handled). Can't say enough good things. I would never send my kids anyplace else. RID: 29445

Click to report rating    8/7/07   5     5     5     5     5   This was ou daughter's first year at camp. She was so happy. The facilities are great. She loved the lake and the ceramics. She said the relgious aspect was made to be fun. The only problem was that the bunk was a little tight, but that was because there were five staff members in the bunk for 15 kids. The bunks were brand new. She said the food was fine and that there was always something to eat even if you are picky. She is excited to go back next year! RID: 13728
Click to report rating    8/6/07   4     4     5     4     4   Wonderful camp!! My daughter is in her third year - absolutely LOVES it. She even enjoys celebrating Shabbat - she tells me "they make it fun". Has made friends for life. Had no issue addressing problems with Director if any arose. Food - not so great, but it's camp. RID: 13692
Click to report rating    6/11/07   1     3     2     1     1   My kids were verty homesick and did not have the attention that was needed. Now they will be attending a more upscale camp that is actually worth the money you are going to spend on a summer sleepaway camp. In my kids words they said it stunk and they hated it!!! RID: 11878
