My daughter and I had a very traumatic experience at Camp Weequahic. After several reassuring early conversations with the Director, it was as if there was a switch and he was no longer communicative and my child experienced abuse there. She came home with emotional scars. After such experience. AVOID this camp!!! I still can’t believe what they did and poorly they treated her!! they have no idea how to treat children or care at all. I would give it a minus 5, much below zero. I see I am not the only one with negative ratings--I should have seen those before. They are totally irresponsible to the adolescent camper and to the parent.

I have now been going to camp for 7 years. I cannot begin to form a sentence on how amazing this camp is. It has given me the best friends I could possibly ask for. The activities are out of this world and the staff and counselors make you feel like family. After going to Weequahic for 7 years I truly know what it is like to have a forever home with people who love you so much. Campfire on Friday nights is the most meaningful activity on camp because we all gather together as one down by the glistening and shining lake to reflect on the past week. I truly would give camp as many gold stars as possible. Weequahic will forever be my home! Cole and Kate, thank you for the summers I will remember for the rest of my life.

I have been a camper there for 5 years. My first year I was homesick, but the counselors offered so much support. I have gone back every year even more excited. The camp has made me become a better person!

We have seen Weequahic grow from a small camp with just ok facilities into one of the prettiest, most engaging, and fun camps around. Our third child started this past summer and we could not be happier with the whole experience. The directors talk a lot about their values and then live them based on everything we see. The staff are incredibly friendly, handle concerns quickly, and really know how to help the kids have a great time. Best of all, the kids are really 'down to earth' and from all over the US (and world! One of our sons had a boy from Spain and a boy from China in his bunks this past summer.) The food is good, the program is just what we want (choice but in set up so that boys are with boys their same age group), great evening activities and lots of deep tradition. We can't rate Camp Weequahic highly enough.

My son is 9 1/2 and going into 4th grade and attended Weequahic this Summer 2016. This camp is extremely well run and the counselors and staff are kind and attentive. The director knows each child personally. This camp has something for everyone..from sports to a beautiful waterfront. But more importantly, this camp is caring and really gets to know your child so they can help them become their best selves. A++ and we will be back again and will send our other son too!

Camp Weequahic has provided me with the best summer of my life. After working there for 9 weeks, I can honestly say that I have never seen a better camp. Cole and Kate Kelly are two incredible directors who put the camp first in everything they do. Not once this summer did I see them make a decision that didn't benefit their campers. They are the best employees I have ever had and treated me like family from the moment I stepped off the bus back in June. Both Kate and Cole know every staff member and camper by name and are always seen with a smile on their face. They always say "you choose your attitude everyday" and it is clear that they both live by that mantra. Their positivity is so infections that you cannot help but become more of a positive person during camp. They have helped me become a better person and I can honestly say that they have helped every staff member their too. Weequahic is now a second home to me and to so many campers and counsellors. I can't wait to return!

Older son just returned from his 5th summer and younger just enjoyed his first. Haven't stopped talking about what a great experience it was. Made great friends, ate good food, learned new skills and gained more independence. The youger, a picky eater came home with some new favorites that I can add to my repertoire and the older one has a new interest in cooking as this is one of the activities that he enjoyed. This summer, he made pickles, among other things. The water activities are the highlight for my kids and there are plenty - a beautiful lake with tubing, water skiing, kayaking, row-boating, canoeing and paddle boarding as well as some bouncy things to jump off of. There is also a pool so the kids get plenty of time in the water. Traditions and structure are mixed with freedom to explore. The staff and counselors are detail oriented and very skillful. The kids build fires, go fishing, act, dance, make art and camp outdoors. Truly a great experience for both of them!!

As a camper of 5 years all i can say is this a home. Ive been treated like family for 5 years and a part of my soul is there. The camp has had the largest impact on me as a boy and i will always remember it as a home. the kids here are just spectactular, there is so much variety in every bunk and everyone no matter what age just gets along. the consulers just seem to make camp one hundred times better, its awesome having a college friend who is always so nice and so kind and like a true friend. the directors are amazing and nice as can be and parents the bunks are nice but not the nicest and so what if the toliet breaks everyday, this place is the most loving and most fun place on the planet. my friends will last me a whole lifetime.

My 2 girls had a great time at Camp Weequahic! The kids in their bunks were so nice and their counselors were amazing! My girls were at a different overnight camp for 3 summers...and we are all so glad to have made this change. They are both looking forward to going back next summer!!!

Camp Weequahic is awesome! Two of my children went for three weeks this summer for their first camping experience. They had an absolute blast!! They still talk about it every day. They enjoyed so many neat activities and adventures. The staff is phenomenal and the directors are incredibly involved with everything. They cannot wait to go back next year and want to stay for 6 weeks!

I was a counselor this past summer (2014) at Camp Weequahic. I've never been to a summer camp, as a counselor or camper, so this was my first time being exposed to something like this. It turns out that Camp Weequahic was much more than just a job for me. I'm from California and I didn't know a single person when I arrived to camp, but by the end of just 4 weeks I had a second family. The time I spent with the campers and my fellow counselors made this job the most memorable experience of my life. As a Camp Weequahic counselor, I want families to know that we care a lot about the children, teenagers, and young adults that stay with us. All of us do. There is so much effort put into the organization of this camp and I had a blast seeing it all unfold. From the special event days to the evening activities to just hanging out in the bunk with my campers... I'll miss it all.

CAMP WEEQUAHIC IS ONE OF THE BEST OVERNIGHT CAMPS! My daughter will attend her 4th summer this year...she talks about and looks forward to CW all year long! I spent a lot of time researching CW before sending my daughter to an out of state overnight camp. Everything I learn after talking to an abundance of CW parents and the director gave me the confidence to send her.The camp is beautifully set along a lake, maintained very clean, and geared towards the kids having fun! There are an abundance of activities for the kids to choose. I can not say enough great things about the directors Cole and Kate,how loved they are,how smoothly things are run,because of their personal attention. The counselors are equally loved by the kids and help with everything and anything. My daughter loves everything and even thinks of CW as family! I would highly recommend Camp Weequahic to anyone thinking about sending their children for an awesome summer experience and lifetime memories! SL Jupiter Florida

Every summer since 2007 I have stepped on the bus knowing that I will create memories that will last me a lifetime. I come home to Weequahic every summer because I have developed these bonds over the years with boys and girls that I now call my brothers and sisters. I visit those who I call my family throughout the year but its not the same as living with them for 6 unforgettable weeks in the same bunk as 10 boys or girls. This summer I was a CIT and I got to lead a color war and tribal war team where I have developed responabilities and leadership roles that will help me in my near future. I have been waiting for my CIT summer since 2007 when I was a junior at camp. This summer those juniors looked up to me and it was a dream come true. There are no words to describe Weequahic but all I can say is camp is something every kid should experience and its even more memorable when its at Weequahic. I can't seem to let go of Camp Weequahic because its as if I'm letting go of my family.

Three weeks ago i left the place that I call my home. The place where i feel the most safe and the most comfortable. It was my sixth summer at camp and unfortunately my last. I can honestly say this camp has made the biggest impact on my life. I made sisters and brothers here that I know will remain in my life forever. I stepped of the bus in 2008 as a scared little girl not knowing what to expect and now, I'd do anything to step off that bus just one more time. If I didn't go to Camp Weequahic I would not be the person I am today. If you're a parent contemplating whether or not your kid should go here... send them. There is no doubt that your kid will have the time of their life just like I did. This camp will forever hold the biggest place in my heart. I am so thankful to be apart of the Weequahic family and I know one day that I will return.

Weequahic is truly a community that lives by their values of gratitude, attitude and courage. We have 4 children that attend camp and all were surrounded by great role models. They were polite, respectful, caring, fun and thoughtful. The Directors are clearly committed to hiring a great staff and creating a very safe and fun summer! The programming was also a great balance between choices and spending time with your bunkmates. We can not say enough good things about the culture at Weequahic. We are thrilled to have our children spend their summers at such a special place.

Camp has been such an important part of our son's life--7 years he has called Weequahic his "home" - we can't even begin to imagine what it will be like for him not to be back with his "crew" next summer. As we embark on the journey with our daughter as she calls Weequahic home, we will take pride in seeing the joy in her eyes and she allows the traditions and memories to live on. What an amazing summer they both had- they have not stopped talking since they have been home. What an amazing way to end his time at Weequahic--an admiral on Navy and leading his team to victory and then to become all around camper--not once, but twice. what can we say other than thank you to Weequahic. Thank you for providing such a wonderful summer home to our kids. Thank you for allowing such incredible friendships to be made. Thank you for such wonderful counselors. And thank you for allowing us to see such tremendous growth in our children. Our kids are 2nd gen campers here-awesome feeling!!

For the past four years, Camp Weequahic has been the ultimate summer experience for my two kids. They’ve smacked baseballs, built robots, woven gimp bracelets, danced in shows, water-skied the lake, and gained lifelong friends. The facilities are first class. The food is tasty. And the enthusiastic counselors are experts in their specialties. But beyond the incredible daily activities, Weequahic gave my son and daughter a chance to grow as they took on new responsibilities and challenges so they came home happy and more mature. As camp directors, Cole and Kate Kelly, lead by example. They are kind, warm, and caring people who know all the kids by name, and pay attention to every detail. Working as a team, Cole and Kate pack in all sorts of activities, trips, and crazy big events, to make the summer zoom by. Camp Weequahic is a very special place and my kids can’t wait to go back every summer.

As parents of three kids, we have been thrilled with the experience Camp Weequahic has provided our children. Certainly, nothing is perfect. However, we have found the staff and director to be very open, honest, and available when we've had concerns (which have been very, very few). We've seen the camp's facility improve a great deal over the past few summers. It's a really pretty property and the bunks and facility are now as good as or better than anything we've seen or heard of in camping. As for the food, our kids say it's really good "for camp food" but talk more about how much fun they are having in the dining hall. Compared to other camps our friends have been to, it seems hard to beat the price - our kids simply live for another summer at Weequahic! All in all, we are very, very pleased and highly recommend Camp Weequahic.

As a parent, feel a responsibility to alert parents of Camp Weequahic. My son came away from this camp under such distress he displayed both physical and emotional scars. No previous history of nervousness or emotional problems. Distress was primarily due to bullying during entire session. Learned of bullying during first phone call home. Phone calls home are not private, in front of other campers/staff so children may not feel the can speak freely to parents. Camp director/staff failed to address/stop bullying despite their acknowledgement of it occurring. Camp director also failed to keep me abreast of son’s well-being. Director took no responsibility, just defended his own actions. Owners defended camp director, took no responsibility. Director and owners showed no concern for my son. Note:owners also own Starlight. See reviews. Also incidents of inappropriate behavior by camp counselors, run-down facilities and terrible food. Now my son refuses to ever attend a sleep away camp.

Kids spent a week at the camp and loved it. Went to second session and maybe there were 5-7 kids per afternoon activity. Owner seems like a Gem. We want to send them back for 3 weeks next year. Wondering what the normal discount is for returning campers. Let me know if you do.

My son just finished the first session at Weequahic and couldn't have ask for a better sleep away camp experience. He loved the campers, counselors, directors, food and activities and can't wait to return next year. Our kids have been going to Weequahic for 3 years. This year, only after one week of camp we received a letter home begging to stay for the second session too...need I say more!? Our kids count down the days until camp, the minute they return home. We went only family day to visit, WOW! Its paradise there, beautful grounds kept up very nicely. Our kids couldn't be happier!! Staff is awesome, caring, loving, and responsive. Great camp, we definitley recommend Weequahic!

As a former staff member at Camp Weequahic for the past two summers I can objectively say that the way this camp is run is top notch. The directors make a concerted effort to hire only the best staff who exemplify the mission and ideals of the camp. You can tell that they truly care for the kids as well as their families who put them in their care by all the hard work they put in to making camp a great experience for everyone involved. Everyone there is held to the same level of accountability for their actions, no matter what their title. It has been my experience that those in charge live up to, and in many cases, exceed the standards they set for their camp.

I have been going to weequahic for 8 years now. I can honestly say that it was an amazing experience and I would not give it back for anything. If you had been looking for a camp to go to a couple years ago then I would absolutely say this is the place to go. But unfortunately the camp has been bought by a family that should not run a camp. They do not understand warmth and caring and how to treat children. This summer they heard that the CITs had drank a few days earlier (something that happens at many camps). Instead of trying to find out what happened and calmly taking care of it, they locked us in a room for hours to wait and be interrogated one by one. They manipulated us and treated us inhumanely. Unfortunately it was an awful way to leave my summer home. I met incredible people here and the camp used to be a great place to be. Now it is a business and not a family. I would not recommend sending your child here unless you are from the south, not jewish, and not loving.

i've gone to weequahic for 6 years. the first 5 years were amazing and i loved everything about camp. it was my favorite place to be. in 08 the camp was sold and are no longer owned by the same people. on my last summer they kicked out 20 kids who have been going there for years after only 3 weeks and discarded them like garbage for alcohol consumption. there was no proof and did this only out of what people had told them and what they heard. this never would have happened with the old owners who were caring and loving people. the new owners are cold hearted and only care about money. not only did they kick us out of camp, but they gave the parents 2 hours notice to pick up their child at a hotel in NJ. the counselors are great and the camp is beautiful, but i do not recommend you send any child to this camp.

this camp is incredible! i've been going since i was a baby and can't imagine a summer not being there. the staff is great. year by year the facilities are getting better. there is a brand new hockey rink, gymnastics center, and ropes climbing course. the activities, especially color war, are unbelievable. the counselors care very much about their campers and i very highly recommend this camp to others. the sessions make it easy for new campers to experience what its like and not need to stay for the full 6 weeks. Camp weequahic is definitely the camp to choose!!

If i were to sum up Weequahic in one sentence, I would say that you cannot go wrong by attending this camp. I have attended for 12 years and since day one, it has been a huge part of my life. The counselors and key staff are caring, smart, mature, and really the most top-notch staff a camp could find. Although the facilities are not excellent, the new owners are working hard to improve them. With Weequahic being a relatively small camp, personal attention is never an issue. We were, at times, thought of as TOO small, however I know for a fact that the new owners have already increased the attendance greatly for the summer of 2010. Going to Weequahic will DEFINITELY be the right decision for anyone, and you will not be disappointed. I made my best friends here and had the best times of my life here. Now it's your turn.

I have been attending Camp Weequahic for 10 years now and I cannot imagine spending my summer anywhere else. Simply put, Weequahic is a place that makes you feel good. While the facilities are not spectacular, the new owners have been putting a lot of money into adding to and upgrading the campus, and it has never looked better. On that note, past campers have often had complaints about the directors being old and out of touch. The new directors, Marc and Missy, are young parents of three and as retired teachers, they have had ample experience working with children. Weequahic does not have too many campers, which allows for a very personal summer camp experience that is not found in too many other places. We also have a rich tradition here. Each summer I leave thinking camp can't get any better, and the next year it always does. If you are looking for a camp that will leave you with a life-long feeling of warmth and comfort whenever the topic is brought up, then Weequahic is for you.

i just finished my 7th summer at weequahic and i cant possibly think of enough good things to say about this camp. I have grown up there and i dont go a day without talking to one of my camp friends. The camp is beautiful and hte people are unbelievable. Because it is a smaller camp, everyone knows eachother and it really is one family. The feeling on the last night of colorwar during sing is unbelievable. The emotions that came out of me during sing i didnt even know i had as a read a speech that concluded my time as a camper. Every word said on that night is true. The place and the people are unbelievable and there is a feeling of warmthy that cannot be found in any other camp. The younger girls are well looked after and bond with the cits. highly reccomended if you want to connect yourself into something that you will never be able to part with =]

i have been going to Camp Weeqahic for almost four summers and now i really can't remeber life without it. even though our camp will become a sessions camp i still can't wait for my next summer. today was the last day of camp and one of the worst days of my life. Colorwar is incredible, the food is good, the staff is good, the building and range of activities is improving too. weequahic will always and continue to be my summer. "Camp is the love we'll always remember, friendships we made we'll always treasure, Memories will live now and forever; Weequahic we love you'"

The counslers are generally wonderful, but the directers are rude and cheep and truely do not care about the kids. I absolutely loved this camp though, i attended for 6 years and truely love the people i met there, and will forever keep in touch with them. the owners are the reason that people dont return, not the old facilities. color war is incredible and should never be changed. but it is truely sad that after this year camp weequahic will never be the same considering that it will be a session camp. i love camp and always will. but after this year this camp will no longer really be camp weequahic. RIP

I was disappointed with my summer last year, and will not go back. The 'owners' of the camp are rarely seen, outside of pictures they 'stage' with the kids. The camp counselors are always stressed out, and seem to be fighting with the 'key staff' all the time. It was not a fun summer at all.

this is my summer home. for the past 7 years i have attended this camp and now just finished my AMAZING cit summer. Weequahic is my home. It's my safty blanket and i never could imagine spending my summer anywhere else. You can't rate this camp on the staff or the facilities, you rate it on how your summer was and what you walked away from camp with. The friends, or sisters that you walked out with. I would highly recomend this camp and trust me you wont be dissapointed. this is my home .. " how can summer just end, in our hearts will remain here, camp makes everything alright."

My kids could not return to this camp. There were not enough kids their age. Facilities looked tired and worn. Staff was uninspiring. Directors were unorganized, did not communicate well and just don't get it anymore. Office smelled like mothballs. May be new owners could bring some spunk back to this camp that was probably a great place a decade ago.

As the parent of 2 campers who have attended this wonderful camp for past 5 years, Camp Weequahic is a wonderful home away from home. The grounds, waterfront, facilities are beautiful, the owners truly care about each and every camper, and they truly stand behind " Where caring is a tradition". The food is second to none, and the warm, caring, dedicated staff gets better every year. To those who want a summer camp where you can feel in your heart of hearts that your child is in great hands, well taken care, and having the best time you could possibly want for them, then CAMP WEEQUAHIC is def. the place.We are so grateful that after searching camp after camp 6 years ago that we came across such a wonderful camp.WE LOVE CAMP WEEQUAHIC!!!!

this camp is HORRIBBLE!!!! the owners are old and don't care about the campers, and they are to cheap to fix up the camp so it looks better. It is small and there are only 6 boys that are in my age group. they dont understand kisd, and nobody should have to spend 8 weeks in that dump! the owners hate kids. The only god thing about this camp was the food.

camp weequahic is seriously my secnd home no joke. i have been going there for 6 years and the friends i have made are seriously incredible. my counselors this summer were AMAZING which is quite a shock because usually they suck. yeah i love chrissy perri and kat. and bunk 32 is life xoxoxooxoxoxoxo weequahic is the most amazing place ever and im never going to leave it "this is our home. a family we belong. and our love is everlasting. camp weequahic we'll miss you. our summer must end. but memories last forever more. although we must leave, well never let go" oh yea. and by the way ARMY is amazing the end

This camp gives you the warm fuzzies. It is a real down to earth camp. It has an awesome water front. I highly reccommend it to anyone looking for a real fun camp, but not to stuffy

My son had a wonderful camping experience this summer at camp weequahic.He loved all the sports and the coaches.He also liked the key staff very much.

Had a very bad experience with the camp.I feel I did not get a good value. The campus is run down. The staff that I experienced was not enthusiastic or helpful. Most of the staff seemed to be uninterested. The one positive thing was the basketball program.
