The camp is very run down and desperately needs renovations. The soccer nets are broken, the pool slide wasn’t working, the bathrooms are filthy. The hockey coach quit, so there wasn’t any hockey offered. For the amount of money you pay, I’d expect a whole lot more. The pools look very old. The lake was covered in a huge overgrowth of algae and looked unusable. The equipment looks old and broken down. I also felt the supervision was poor. Kids were allowed to misbehave and bully others without consequences. When I called the director about my concerns, he was rude and dismissive. He tried to blame my son for “not getting the story straight”, so to speak, because he has a minor speech delay. Everything my son told me was the truth. He also got hurt several times, went to the nurse, and I never got a phone call. I do not recommend this place, we won’t be back, that’s for sure.

This camp is to expensive for what you get. My daughter says the camp counselors play favorites and there are so many people in her group that they never paided attention to her. She said that she was bullied and when she told an adult they told her to not be so sensitive. I do not recommend if your child is young and or timid..for older children and teens it is a blast and keeps them busy..but you can find a cheaper, cleaner camp with better care

I went to Brookhaven Country Day Camp when I was a kid and I absolutely loved it. I met my best of friends there where we are still friends to this day. I have so many great memories and now my children are building their memories and friendships. They have been attending the camp for the past 6 years and they love every minute of it. They look forward every summer to seeing their camp friends and councelers. BCDC is a great place to send your kids. They are busy from the minute they get there to the minute they leave! My daughter has gone here for 3 years. The 1st year Nursery. 2nd year GK and 3rd is G1. It is VERY VERY expensive! 113 per day! We pay about 9/day for food! Ridiculous! We have 1 child and here is the thing. The 1st 2 yrs we paid as we went. We would add on weeks/days. But this year we paid for the full 8 weeks and we paid payments. Its hard for us to pay over 3k upfront! During swim time she told the counselors she had to go potty and the counselor told her "we just took all of you! You have to hold it" She didnt tell them it was #2. But for 113.00 per day if she has to go they SHOULD TAKE HER!She went in her pants-1st time in her life! She was mortified! 2nd incident-she needs h2o due to the heat. 2 counselors in parent pick up time refused to let her go to the water fountain! Meanwhile when i got there she told me she needed a drink and RAN TO IT! They were all chit chatting. Why couldnt they let her go? we tried to cut back days and we wldnt save much. ADD ON-dont schdule up front

Make sure your kids can take care of themselves.I sent my 5yr old son thinking this place was great. He was very excited.Next thing I know I'm picking him up and he is alone-staring at the ground swaying back and forth.I thought he was physically exhausted, little did I know he was emotionally exhausted, like he'd been "defeated".He didn't speak to me for almost 1hr.That's when I knew he was depressed.Never saw him like that before. After some probing I found out that when it was swim time they told the kids to jump in. The depth was only 2 ft.but he still went under. This must've led him to not trust them. They forced him to go back to pool in afternoon, though not into it,thank goodness. What bothered me was that I had to call the camp,to my surprise the head of the camp said she was with him most of the day(probably because he was having a nervous breakdown)She said he was crying asking for mommy(never mentioned the pool incident). Why didn't they call me?My kid's instincts were right.

I have 3 kids at this camp for the last several years and it is an amazing place. The owners and the director are always available and go way out of their way to accommodate their customers. The grounds are beautiful and the staff smiles and seems to enjoy their jobs. Top notch!

I sent my daughter here for two years. She was not happy at all. She said the counselor played favorites and allowed bullying. She is very friendly yet didn't make friends. It could be cleaner. She caught a disease from the pool and had a terrible rash for one month. She will never go back.

My daughter has gone for the past two years and I'm about to sign her up again for 2012. She loves it. A lot of activities and different fun days. She has loved all her counselors and makes nice friends each year. She comes home exhausted but very happy. The camp grounds are woodsy and rustic. Pools could use some updating. I love the fact they have boating for the kids. I like the fact they update pictures daily to their website and put out a video each year. We have fun looking for our daughter in them. All in all a good camp and my daughter is looking forward to going again soon.

My son has attended Brookhaven Country Day Camp for the past three summers. Every year gets better. He can't wait to go every day, and he's sad at the end of every summer when camp is over. To be honest, I was skeptical when we signed him up 3 years ago; I went to Pierce Country Day Camp when I was a kid and felt that nothing could compare to that. While the facilities may not be the same, the overall experience has been phenomenal for my son, and for my wife and I as parents.

Both my sons were hurt at this camp. One bruised head and the other a broken arm both due to the negligence of the counselors. The nurse never contacted me on my one son's bruised head, but insisted that my 2nd son's arm wasn't broken. After stating I didn't want him leaving her office I was on my way to pick him up (I still didn't know about my other childs injury). I arrive to find that "NO ONE" knows where my son is with the injured arm - oh & the nurse has left due to an er. "I" find my son sitting holding his arm crying while other counselors and campers are walking by him w/o questioning him. After going to the er for both and speaking to the owners and head counselor the next am, I pulled both boys out immediately. Three years later we're going to court. Out of the $2800 I paid in camp fees minus the short time they attended I have received $750 refund. Kids will get hurt...don't lie, hide, or deny the facts. Don't attend

This camp is barnone the most exciting camp on long island. The staff is exceptional, especially the director who by the way, looks like Crocodile Dundee. I wish I could be a kid for ever. One craft at Brookhaven summer camp that's fun and popular is making a tie dye t-shirt. It’s certainly a classic thing to do but no T-shirt comes out the same. Outdoors activities, like the one night twilight camping, are one of the things I always really look forward to at camp. The staff is wonderful, the activities are exciting and luckely they add new ones EVERY year)...The owners are caring and considerate people that ALWAYS put the children first. This is my 9th summer there and I'm looking forward in the future to be a counselor. Thank you for everything.

I went to summer adventures travel camp years ago. We got to go on day trips all day in Long Island and Queens. The monetary value paid for itself. The trips were great. Just be placed with people you like.
