I give it such high ratings because I made sure I put the most into what I did. For those who don't want to put the effort into an academic camp, then this may not be the best choice. If you are prepared to do the work, then the sky is the limit for how much fun you will have. So go out there and have fun. Just don't read any Vogon poetry. RID: 45126

It is the best camp in the whole world :) I will always remember the great times that I have had, and the amazing friends that I have made over the years. Click to report rating    10/23/06   5     5     5     5     5   Spectacular fails to fully sum up CTY...the classes are on an entirely different level of quality from regular school classes in both variety and depth of material, and are a lot of fun, like that one class you look forward to after an otherwise dull school day, except that it is the whole day every weekday. It's not just the classes, either. CTY has a culture all its own, the end result of what happens when a few hundred nerds get sequestered away from society for three weeks with complete freedom to be nerds without having to worry about being "cool" in any other way. American Pie, canon, Star Crash, lanyard, quad, and meetmarket will all gain enormous significance to you, as CTY veterans well know. The test you have to take to qualify is difficult, but the results are worth a thousand tests. If you have never gone to CTY, get off this website, google Center for Talented Youth, and find where you can start on your way to CTY. I love CTY, and I love the Passionfruit. RID: 4255

Click to report rating    8/22/06   5     5     5     5     5   AMAZING! Anyone who is eligible and hasn't been to CTY, you are soo missing out. There are no words to describe it. If you think it is just a stupid, scholl-like nerd camp you couldn't be more wrong. RID: 2283
Click to report rating    8/18/06   4     5     5     5     5   The Center for Talented Youth at Carlisle, termed "nerd camp," is an amazing experience. Kids may be forced to come by their parents, but by the end of the session, the kids will be begging their parents to come back. There are reasons this happens. The coomunity overall is caring and open. That sense of belonging is crucial for any enjoyable experience. You'll find that the people are tolerant and respectful. Unlike most of my peers, they're also witty and entertaining. It may be just me, but the rules have gotten more restricting every year. However, that will not keep me from going back. The staff was good. There are great RAs and lackluster RAs at every CTY site. At Carlisle, I honestly live for the HUB and its offerings of potato products. My class was amazing. I normally hate school, but I loved every minute of my Philosophy of the Mind class. Mandatory Fun allows students to, well, have fun. I recommend CTY to any eligible student. I love CTY and I love the passionfruit. RID: 2152
