This is THE GREATEST camp ever! Take it from me, I just finished my third time here! Some people say that the camp doesn't do fun things, but that's prob just because they were too busy being a hater. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the staff and how we can choose our own activities! MINIWANCA FOREVER!

First time camper two week session, he said many were "return" campers and knew each other. Felt a little left out many times. They played limited team sports which he didn't play, mostly soccer, he plays baseball. Only did chosen activities 2 hours/day the rest was spent on reflection, assembly and other boring stuff he said. He liked the staff and cabin leader. In retrospect, would have rather did a one week camp saved $.

I have been going to camp here since fourth grade (3 years), and i LOVE it. There are always new things to try, and there is always a place to go when you need to talk to someone. The staff are super kind and caring, and I always find the time to write letters to family. The counselors are amazing. Last year, for example, we had 2 cabin cacti, one named machu piccu, and the other named Paco. I find that the set up is great, when dealing with interest groups (activities) there are a lot of cool things to try, and a wide variety of things for people with a wide variety of interests. Onto the environment. the counselors are so supportive. for example, there are often people who have trouble sleeping, so all cabin leaders are equipped with a guide on how to lead meditation, and address all issues campers are worried about in a circle on the floor of the open air cabins the night before a trip. I would definitely recommend this camp to any parent looking. it is to be the 3rd best camp in MI

My experience at Miniwanca was excellent. I attended in 1975. I still value the lessons learnt there.

This is my favorite place in the whole world! I have been going here since 5th grade and I absolutely love it! Every year I make so many friends from across the country! The counselors are so caring and the kids are great to! You will get an experience like no other at Miniwanca!

Sorry to disagree with other raters, but I still remember my time at this camp with dread-- it was a cliquish environment in which kids, who'd been coming to camp in other years, clustered together, took advantages for themselves and their buddies, and shunned newcomers. There were incidents of physical violence and theft that the counselors and administrators ignored or covered up. I spent six weeks at this camp and left only with a feeling of relief to have gotten away from this place. I'm an avid camper, hiker, and outdoorsman, but this camp had nothing to do with those interests and skills. I can't recommend this camp to any parent who might be considering it.

My daughter has been going to Camp Miniwanca for five years. She loves it and looks forward to returning each summer. She has made friends from all over the country. At Miniwanca, campers are encouraged to be true to themselves and to stretch themselves by trying new things. As the campers get older, they have more opportunities to take on leadership roles and to participate in hiking, biking, canoeing, and kayaking trips. I have attended and worked at a number of camps across the U.S. and think Miniwanca is head and shoulders above the others. The staff is all college-aged or older, and receive good training. The camp overlooks Lake Michigan and campers get to experience stunning sunsets every night. The weather is not too hot or cold, and campers get to spend most of their time outdoors ... with no electronics to distract them. You couldn't find a better place for your child to spend the summer!

Miniwanca is an amazing place! There is not only many activities to try- such as sailing, kayaking, swimming, fishing, running, pottery and theater- but there is a true sense of unity and friendship throughout the camp. You will meet amazing people, the counselors and staff are exremely supportive and they want to help you in any way possible. There are also many traditions that bond campers together, such as Tribal Games and Coucil Circle. The spirit of Miniwanca inspires us to be our own selves, at our very best, all the time, an attainable goal when surrounded by fantastic role models and friends. Miniwanca is not just a camp, it builds self esteem and values. Though you will grow during your time here, you will also do crazy fun things, laugh extremely hard, and love every minute of it. Miniwanca focuses on supporting us through the struggles we face, and there's a reason we all come back. Miniwanca is so much more than just a camp! If there is any chance you can go here, go!

The best camp ever. camp miniwanca changed my life and helped me to grow. I've made many friends at the camp, and people who live around the camp. I was a conference participant for 2 years and worked in the kitchen for 4 years. anyway I go up there for my summer vacations now 16 years later. I still fell the magic when I'm there, it's real !!!

Miniwanca was a great experience! I love it sooo much and cannot wait to go back last year...unlike other camps they really focus on issues that are plaguing girls, like self-esteem and self-love, faith, confidence, and more. Before I went to Miniwanca I was so not confident, I would cry when I looked in the mirror. And though I'm still like that, I experienced 2 weeks of total bliss there where I loved myself inside of out, and cannot wait for these weeks to return this summer! The camp is absolutely magical, and it makes me so happy. The staff are amazing and very helpful. The facilities kinda suck, but it's camp! Who needs doors when you have mosquito netting? I wouldn't have it any other way. The personal attention, if you ask for it, is provided. And the values are outstanding. The activities are great fun and WOW is it beautiful there...The sun melting behind the white crested waves lapping up on the tan shores...nothing more beautiful! I recommend it to all!

All three of my kids love this camp and they want to go back every summer. This camp's motto is My own self, at my very best all of the time. They really encourage kids to reflect and to learn about themselves and their strengths. This builds confidence and competence in kids. Highly recommend this camp. Love it.

I attended this camp in the late '70s. It was awesome! I went back for "Family Camp" last year and it was even better. My 9 year old daughter went this year, and she can't wait to go back next year!

I was both a camper & a counselor @ Miniwanca in the 60's & 70's. It was one of the best times in my life. I real place to mature, be challenge & grow. Three generations in my family have attended, I just noticed we all joined there facebook friends page (unknown to each others actions) That should tell you how it make loyal supporters of us all!

Miniwanca is very fun and has a friendly atmosphere. The only downside is you have to sign up for your daily activities on a weekly basis, so you don't get to to try everything, especially if you are only going for a week or two. But all the fun traditions make it very unique and enjoyable. The beach is beautiful with pure white sand and clear blue water. The extended trips for older campers seem like one of a kind experiences. The whether is amazing up there as well.

Don't be fooled by the extensive buildings and scenic area of this camp. This camp lacks the depth and friendliness of most other camps.

A great all-around experience for boys and girls. The facilities are the truly amazing (how can you beat a Lake Michigan beachfront) and the staff adds to the Miniwanca magic. A little more money than most, but worth it!

Amazing Camp. I attended the Leadership Conference 4 years and then returned as staff for 2 years. THe people are awesome (both campers and staff) and the camp is beautiful... on Lake Michigan. It may look expensive but it is worth it. They used to have some scholarships available too. Check this camp out- I loved it and I miss it!
