Four members of my family have gone to Tohko. It is hard to say enough about the way that this staff understand and mentor boys. I watched as my very nervous and suspicious wife came to appreciate the staff and experiences that they gave to our son. We were really moved to see him after a few weeks at camp - happy, confident, full of stories and completely off of electronics. He did not want to leave.

Attended Tohko (and then became a counselor) 30 years ago and have kept in touch. It is still the norm to have former campers move up the ranks to counselor, directors. This keeps the culture of the place alive. The experiences and the values that this place teaches stays with you for a lifetime. Outside of family, there not been a more significant, positive impact on my life. Beautiful setting on Purity Lake.

I went here as a kid, was a counselor, and have been back since. The memories and lifelong friendships from camp are a part of me. Also probably saved me from Juvie Hall. Have your kids go there, whatever it takes.

Our son started going to Tohko at age 10 and he has had five terrific summers so far. It has a great mature staff who love kids and the tradition of camp. They return year after year, as do many of the counselors who are in high school, college or graduates.
What sets it apart is its emphasis on hiking and the mountains. Weekly hiking or canoeing trips give kids a choice of difficulty/challenge. Most are day trips but as they get older they go on some epic multi-day camping trips in New Hampshire and Maine. There’s a whitewater canoe trip on the Androscoggin River and trips to local rivers and waterfalls. Every week of the summer Tohko groups are hiking somewhere in the White Mountains, especially the 48 mountains on the NH 4000’ list. The cabins and buildings are simple and basic but the camp doesn’t skimp on fun or activities for the kids. Purity Lake is a private lake owned by the camp and it’s pristine. There are many camps to choose from. I can truly say we love Tohkomeupog.

As a traditional boys camp Tohkomeupog has and still is giving my boys an awesome camp experience. Unlike specialty/sports camps there are many many activities for a child to find where they can excel. My 14 year old has summited 28 of NH's 4000 foot mountains and plans on doing them all. From archery to waterskiing, the boys are challenged on a daily basis with great outdoor activities. The bonds of friendship developed are amazing! Camp has helped my boys become totaly comfortable with who they are, which shows itself daily in their relationships with adults and peers. Peer pressure becomes less and less of an issue with their years at camp. My boys love camp which makes me love it too.
