Thank you for making this summer so special for Isaac. We appreciate all your hard work and look forward to returning next year! RID: 54265
Click to report rating    4/27/25   5     5     5     5     5   Although my years of sleepaway camp did not begin at Camp Waziyatah, summer camp gave me a strong sense of independence, introduced me to people from around the world, taught me many new activities, and brought me years of unforgettable memories. My first year at Wazi was Counselor in training (CIT) summer, which I can confidently say was the most positively influential summer of my life. Being a CIT brought me newfound skills such as leadership and lifeguarding, but I also gained many lifelong friends. Camp Waziyatah has become my favorite place on earth and as a counselor I hope to pass on my love for this place to my campers. Being a staff member at Wazi is one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever been a part of. The most fulfilling part of this job is the relationships I have been able to form with the campers in my cabin and at camp as a whole. My time at Wazi as a CIT and staff member has given me some of my most cherished memories, and some of my greatest friends. RID: 54190
Click to report rating    4/12/25   5     5     5     5     5   I started going to Wazi when I was 12 years old. My parents signed me up for six weeks and I did not mesh super well with the girls in my cabin immediately. Despite feeling nervous and not included in the beginning, at the end of those six weeks, I sobbed about leaving all of my friends. Even though being a camper was incredible, being a Counselor in Training (CIT) was the most pivotal summer of my life. I was never very confident in my leadership skills nor my planning skills, but via being a CIT, I learned how to hold my own in positions of leadership and the skills I learned that year are skills I’ve taken with me in my everyday life. Being a counselor is definitely more responsibility than being a camper or a CIT, but it is the best job anyone could have. Because I love camp so much and have loved it since I was 12, I try to give that love back into the camp and help kids feel as a part of the community as I did and feel accepted in themselves, however they may come. Click to report rating    2/17/25   5     5     5     5     5   I would highly recommend Camp Wazi. Our daughter absolutely loved it there! It was the first time she went to sleepover camp for a month. We were at first concerned, but when Nate and Gregg met with me before camp began I was well assured that she would be in great hands. They were both so warm and welcoming! When our daughter was at camp, she felt the wonderful family atmosphere and enjoyed all the fun and interesting activities that were offered. She especially loved the wakeboarding and really bonded with all her fellow camp mates and camp counselors. From a parent perspective, I loved the no cell phone policy. Kids can just be kids. RID: 54167
Click to report rating    8/23/24   5     5     5     5     5   Our 11-year-old daughters traveled from China to Wazi, their first time ever traveling alone. We were initially concerned about the language barrier, but those worries quickly faded. They came back full of excitement, singing camp songs, and sharing stories about the fun they had and the new friends they made. The camp’s welcoming environment made them feel completely at ease. We’re thrilled to see them so happy and grateful for this amazing experience that Wazi provided. RID: 54089
Click to report rating    8/20/24   5     4     5     5     5   We sent our rising 2nd grader here and he had the most positive experience. He came back excited and confident from his time at Wazi. As a parent I was very impressed with his cabin counselors. The staff/camper ratio was excellent and I was happy with the camp leadership. They were very accessible in the lead up process before camp started and alleviated any fears that I had with sending my young child to camp for 4 weeks! RID: 54085
Click to report rating    5/21/24   5     5     5     5     5   I have two boys that attend Wazi. One is going into his 4th year and the other his 3rd. It's by far their favorite part of summer. They made friends instantly, love that they can choose their activities and really enjoy all of the people (campers and staff) that make Wazi what it is. I love seeing the daily photos and feel at ease knowing they are in good hands and having a great time. RID: 54012
Click to report rating    4/16/24   5     5     5     5     5   My son loves Wazi! This will be his third summer! He can not wait to go back and my daughter is so excited for her first experience. The communication with the camp is the best - they are available all the time to answer my questions. MY son always comes home full of excitement and energy. I love to hear about all the fun things they do. RID: 53993
Click to report rating    4/10/24   5     5     5     5     5   My daughter has been attending Wazi for three years now and I cannot speak highly enough about this camp. When she left for her first year she was introverted and quiet when she came back she was confident and the little girl I always knew she could be. She has made her best friends and counts down the days all year until she can be back with them. As a parent, I can confidently say I feel very comfortable leaving my daughter with the wazi staff and have even signed my son up for this upcoming season! Me and my husband can’t thank wazi enough for giving us some alone time over the summer and my children there home away from home. I would highly recommend camp waziyatah to any family and my kids would say the same! RID: 53988
Click to report rating    4/10/24   5     5     5     5     5   Camp Waziyatah has been my home away from home for 12 years. Since I was 9 years old, I looked forward to coming to my favorite place every summer. From my first year at camp, the staff and campers at Wazi immediately brought me in and made me feel like a member of the family. The dedicated counselors and staff at Wazi have created a comfortable and safe environment for campers to step out of their comfort zones and try something new. I remember being hesitant to try waterskiing my first year, but the second I got to the ski docks, the counselors' reassuring presence calmed my nerves and it became my favorite activity. I had role models I could look up to and learn from every day, and I made best friends who I now have for a lifetime. Beyond mastering new activities, my time at Wazi instilled in me a sense of confidence and honed my social and communication skills, all of which continue to serve me well to this day. RID: 53987
Click to report rating    4/2/24   5     5     5     5     5   This year I’ll be going into my 6th year at Wazi. I can still remember my first day, and I remember how welcomed I felt. I had bad separation and social anxiety when I was younger, but the counselors and campers helped me come out of my shell, and I became extroverted, and they all helped me get over the fear of being without my parents. I remember being picked up, so glad to see my parents, but also being so sad that I would have to leave camp and go home. I begged my mom to sign me up for the next summer as soon as she possibly could. Every year I count the days until camp, and constantly text my friends throughout the school year. I’m so excited to return this year, and I always look forward to trying new things, making new friends, and bonding with all the campers. I can’t wait to continue to go to Wazi, and I’m so glad to bring a friend this year. Getting Order of the Otter (Pines camper through Senior Staff) is my personal goal, and I cant wait to fulfill it. RID: 53985
Click to report rating    4/2/24   5     4     5     5     5   As someone about to go into their 9th year at Wazi, the true highlight of my camp experience has been the counselors and staff. They've always made me feel at home and listened to, and made activities fun even on the rainest of days. I could go on and on about the history displayed on cabin plaques or the fun times I've had on the basketball courts, but the real gem here is the people. I've made lifelong friends here. I tried several other camps before Wazi, but once I spent a summer here I knew I'd stay. RID: 53984
Click to report rating    8/25/23   5     5     5     5     5   We LOVE Camp Waziyatah! My three kids have attended this camp for several years and each summer is better than the last. They come home talking about how they can't wait to go back and they spend all year talking about things they learned and new activities they tried. We love that there is no technology and the focus is being outdoors and with friends. My kids have learned to waterski, participated in the camp play, come oh-so-close to winning color war, and memorized countless camp songs and dances. They have also made friends for life. Situated on a stunning lake in the middle of the woods of Maine, this camp is truly a special spot. RID: 53858
Click to report rating    4/5/23   5     5     5     5     5   I started my camp journey at Wazi and I really don't know where I would be without those magical summers. I have never seen a more inclusive group of staff members and even campers! It is more than just a home away from home, it is a place that lets you be the best version of you. The owners are so in love with camp that their energy radiates through the beautiful campus! Thank you Wazi for giving me everything and more. I wouldn't be the person I am today without my summers at Wazi. RID: 53695

Click to report rating    11/30/21   5     5     5     5     5   Camp Waziyatah is an experience I would recommend to any kid of ANY age. My first summer at camp I was 14 years old and nervous because by that time alot of the returning campers already had their friend groups. I was not sure if I would make friends and have the same exoerience those kids that went longer than I got to have. Here I am 11 years later telling you that this place is a second home to me. I had the privilege of growing as a kid and as an adult in this little corner of Waterford. Camp gave me a family, it gave me a place to learn that success comes from persevering through failure. I learned that it takes a daily diligence in putting in 110% effort to slowly inch your way to success. This place changed my life. No doubt in my being that this little patch of land in nowhere Maine helped me extrapolate the values my parents instilled in me as a child. Looking back, I can't imagine having done anything else for the last 11 summers of my life. Truly my home away from home. RID: 53499
Click to report rating    8/22/21   2     1     1     1     1   This camp is absolutely terrible. I went there for one summer and it was probably the worst summer of my entire life. The atmosphere was extremely toxic and the camp itself is nothing like it’s a Disney show, bug juice. RID: 53459

3/18/20   5     5     5     5     5   This camp is a family run organization that has been in business for decades. The camp leadership are a group of professionals who take the well being of each camper as their highest priority, including physical safety and emotional and social development. This high level of dedication is reflected in the behavior of all the staff. It is also evident in the way our son and daughter have become enamored of this camp. For example, they began counting down the days for next summer (which will be their 5th consecutive) as soon as the last session ended! I don't think I've ever seen them so excited about any other activity. My wife and I are extremely pleased with our decision to send our children to Waziyatah! RID: 53177

3/18/20   5     5     5     5     5   The best camp in the U.S.! Our sons have attended for three years now, and we're hoping they become counselors there some day. Truly, a home away from home. I know my boys are safe and having the most fun! So glad they get to unplug and enjoy nature and socializing in a natural, nondevice-central environment. Highly recommended! RID: 53176

He grew so much and had such a great time he will be going every year now! We cant thank Wazi enough for all they do for the kids!! RID: 53174

3/13/20   5     5     5     5     5   I’ve been going to Wazi for 11 years now and have too many amazing things to say about it to even know where to begin. I started as a camper when I was 9, not knowing anyone there or having any experience with sleep-away camp. From the moment I stepped on camp I knew I had found my place. I was able to meet people from all over the world, try new activities, and really express myself and get out of my comfort zone. Wazi has become my home and I consider everyone there family. If you are a parent reading this and are considering sending your child here, I would highly, highly recommend it! Being a staff member now, I see how much care and thought gets put into ensuring that every camper is well cared for and has the best summer possible. I can’t wait for this upcoming summer where I know I’ll get to make more incredible memories and see all the campers, returning and new, have the summer of their lives! This camp is my favorite place in the world and the best thing to ever happen to me! RID: 53173

3/12/20   5     4     5     5     5   Wazi has been the best summer experience for our daughter. It has helped helped her grow in confidence and try new activities such as improv and theater. Every year she looks forward to going back and seeing her Wazi friends. As a parent I found Wazi staff to be very attentive and supportive. They helped our daughter adjust to camp life her first year and were responsive to us as parents. There's no shortage of activities at Wazi and it's interesting to see how she's migrated from one cluster of favorite activities to another throughout her three summers there. At one point it was all about horseback riding and the adventure camp; then next year it was all about swimming and other water sports. This summer she'll be returning for her fourth year and we've been following camp updates. She's so happy to see the instructors she knows return! All in all, we couldn't ask for a better summer experience - lots of new and old friends; out in nature and away from desks and electronics. RID: 53172
Click to report rating    3/12/20   5     4     5     5     4   Wazi is simply put the best camp around. Having gone here for one year myself, i was excited to send my kids hoping they would have a similar experience. And Wazi did not disappoint. Great people, a wide range of activities including water skiing and horse back riding plus the unmatched Maine location. My 13 year old has been there the past 4 years and my 10 year old went for the first time last year and both come back have had the best experiences of their lives and look forward to returning every year. If you are looking for a camp...look no further than Wazi! RID: 53171

8/21/19   5     5     5     5     5   2019 was the first summer my daughter (12) and son (9) attended and they had a phenomenal experience. They grew in every way imaginable through pushing themselves to experience new things and forming unique and memorable relationships. On the trip back from the airport when they arrived home, first thing said was cannot wait for next year! Thank you RID: 52844

8/19/19   5     5     5     5     5   Wazi is simply amazing! We are from Germany, so sending our son (11) and daughter (9) to a summer camp in the US seems like a big step to take. Our kids are just back, and they simply loved every Minute of it! Wazi combines a beautiful location (just check out the lake on their website) with highly professional and caring staff and a bunch of fantastic activities to choose from (our son recommends the white water rafting excursion!) We would always recommend Wazi to our friends - all thumbs up for a clear 5 star rating! RID: 52833

8/5/19   5     5     5     5     5   Thank you so much for giving my daughter this amazing experience! I knew that Wazi was a superior camp, but I never imagined the first thing my daughter would say to me, upon seeing me after 6 weeks, to be ‘I want to go again next summer’! I am grateful to Gregg and the entire Wazi staff for keeping Leena in their tender care. She has made life-long friendships, gained skills that will benefit her throughout her life, and above all...had fun! We will definitely be seeing you again next summer!! Camp Waziyatah has exceeded my expectations on ALL levels! RID: 52795

7/28/19   5     5     5     5     5   Our two children were referred to Camp Wazi by friends- their 4 weeks there were marked by postcards describing the warm welcome, caring staff, clean crisp air, beautiful lake, and a wonderfully planned balance of activities. They swam, boated, rode horses, read, and more, balancing time between small and large groups. The emphasis on balance between a very active schedule and time to make new friends is healthy and welcome. We are really appreciative of the work Wazi has put in to create this. Kids can't wait to get back. RID: 52778
Click to report rating    7/11/19   5     5     5     5     5   It's her 3rd summer experience at camp Wazi and she enthusiastically shared in her postcard that besides loving camp, she learned to slalom ski and is now hitting all targets in archery. Every single year she comes home from Camp Wazi, she is more confident in herself, has learned new skills, made more friends, and has become more empathetic with others. Three years ago she was 11 and joined Camp Wazi not knowing anyone. While I thought I had chosen a wonderful place, it took a leap letting her go. Gregg Parker, the Director told me I could call him any time, the counselors read my notes about by daughter, and at drop off, ensured me they would take care of her. The counselors and Director are as consistent in person as they are on the telephone with me and with my daughter. Camp Wazi makes camp so special, building a joyous, caring community,, that is safe for children to develop in athletics, arts, and leadership. Invaluable experience for all of us, but mostly her.  12/1/18   5     5     5     5     5   I have 3 children who go to Camp Waziyatah. It is also where my wife went as a child. My children look forward to the experience all year and count the days as they get close to returning. The facilities and activities are great with a beautiful private lake and everything from horseback riding, to several plays to, target shooting, to fencing, to water skiing, and many other more traditional camping activities. They also get off the camp at times and make it to water parks, white water rafting, and camping. The counselors are fun but professional and the camp directors, really make the camp feel like a second home. Wazi really gives my children a safe place to gain some independence and make a whole lot of new friends and positive memories. I would strongly recommend Wazi to anyone looking for a summer adventure for their children and can't imagine what they could do better. RID: 52349

9/17/18   5     5     5     5     5   This camp is pure magic, in a down-home, good-natured, old-school, super fun and energetic way. My two daughters have attended the past two summers, and came home raving about it. They dream about it, can't wait to return next year, and talk about it regularly, even two months after camp ended. They've made lasting friendships, and learned many new skills. The variety of activities is tremendous, everything from horseback riding to climbing walls to whitewater rafting to sailing and waterskiing. The activities are fun and so engaging, and the social life is lovely, warm, and inclusive, with events like dances, Capture the Flag, old-time campfire sing-alongs. We had high expectations going into our first year, and Camp Wazi surpassed them. Our second year, we thought they had a lot to live up to--and they did it again! Just as amazing, or even more so. Truly magical. RID: 52259

8/23/17   5     5     5     5     5   I am truly grateful for the extraordinary camp experience that Camp Waziyatah provides to all its campers. Click to report rating    8/17/17   5     5     5     5     5   I had high expectations for Camp Waziyatah after reading so many positive reviews. Now that my daughter is back home, I can say that Camp Wazi far exceeded every one. My daughter is 14 and my husband and I felt she needed to develop some independence. Knowing how much she loves the outdoors and being active, we felt a traditional summer camp experience would be ideal. We selected Wazi after months of meticulous research. If I was going to design the perfect summer camp, this would be it. The grounds are gorgeous. The staff are caring, fun, and extremely well-trained. The campers come from all over the world (my daughter made friends with cabin-mates from Italy and France), and the activities are fun and confidence-building. And the food! My daughter raved about the food (she even said the toast was amazing!). If you want a traditional summer camp experience for your son or daughter, look no further than Camp Waziyatah. We are already planning for our daughter's return next summer! RID: 51250

4/14/17   5     5     5     5     5   I spent four amazing summers at camp Waziyatah that I will never forget. Wazi is truly one big family, making every camper feel included and loved. The time I spent there has given me some of my best friends and favorite memories. Having Crohn's Disease, I was a bit nervous to be away from home for so long, but the people and staff there are so caring and understanding that it left me begging my parents to let me stay longer each summer. I highly recommend spending a summer (or four) at camp Waziyatah because I can guarantee it will become your home away from home. RID: 50624

2/18/17   5     5     5     5     5   When the opportunity was presented for us to send Gavin to sleep away camp last summer, we gasped and thought we could never do that. We were reluctant, afraid and had no idea what to expect. The days leading up to his departure were filled with anxiety and anticipation. There was a great deal of sadness on our part, we were in no rush to go weeks without seeing or speaking to our son. We were so pleasantly surprised. Camp Waziyatah is a magical place that allowed Gavin to grow in ways that we didn’t even think were possible. Our sons first time at your camp was the highlight of his summer. We want to take this opportunity to express our gratitude and say thank you for welcoming us into the Camp Waziyatah Family. RID: 50447

2/14/17   5     5     5     5     5   What a wonderful experience my son had! We were very nervous as this was his first time away from home going to a camp we knew little about. From the moment we signed up the care and support was evident. I knew they would care for my child and make sure he had the best experience possible. We dropped him at his cabin and met his counselors who were warm and caring and welcoming to my son and all of us. We had lunch and walked around before we said good bye. We felt we were leaving him in good hands. He stayed for 4 weeks and loved it. He made so many good friends. He loved the lake, jumping on the blob, sailing, theater, and more! Went on some amazing trips! Drove home with his dad, walked in the house fell into my arms crying that he wanted to go back. My son never reacts like that. He grew so much! Camp gave him new confidence and independence. Waziyatah is a true Maine camp experience that offers so many activities! We just signed up for this summer and recommend it very highly! RID: 50430

2/6/17   5     5     5     5     5   Camp Waziyatah offered an amazing camp experience to my 2 first-time overnight campers. Not only do they offer an amazing variety of activities for the kids to try, every child is guaranteed to do the activity they have their heart set on doing! That was one of the reasons we selected Camp Waziyatah because our daughter was able to horseback ride any day she wanted. Interestingly enough, we only got the one obligatory postcard from our son (age 11) because he was having so much fun, he didn't feel the need to write home. We also really like the fact that the staff posts photos of the kids on a private Facebook page every day so we could see for ourselves how much fun they were having. RID: 50414

11/2/16   5     5     5     5     5   I have being going to camp for 6 years and it has been the most life changing experience. Before I started camp in 2010 I never understood the hype about overnight summer camps but after going to wazi for even my first day I could tell this camp would impact my life for the better. People who don't experience wazi can't quite understand what it does to you, it gives you so many amazing opportunities to meet people from all across the world, try amazing activities, and form relationships that last a lifetime. Camp Waziyatah is my all time favorite place on Earth and it will stay that way forever. Always remember this is goodnight and not goodbye. Love you Waziyatah forever and always, see you soon!!!!  10/31/16   5     5     5     5     5   I have been going to Camp Waziyatah for 7 years now and it's one of the best things that has ever happened to me. Not only have I met some of my best friends, but it's given me memories that will surely last a lifetime. I will be returning this year as a JC and I countdown every single year from the day I leave until the day I get back. It's my home away from home. I can't think of any other way I would want to spend my summers. RID: 50206

9/14/16   5     5     5     5     5   My 11 yr. old daughter from Mass, was terrified about going away for a whole month and not knowing anyone when she got there. We took 3 days to get to Maine, just to ease her anxiety. Well I can assure you the drive home was done in 4.5 hours, because she was so happy that she talked the entire ride. Her whole cabin (filled with only girls entering the same 6th grade as her, which I love) all extended their 2 week sessions to 4 weeks, like my daughter so these new "besties" could stay together. It is truly a special place and she now considers all these friends from all over the country and world her Wazi friends and we have already early registered for next year. They also offer an AMAZING RATE for MILITARY FAMILIES, ACTIVE DUTY--SO WORTH IT!!! I cannot say enough about this camp. No snobbery, just good old fashioned fun, electronic free and kids being kids like the "good ol days." I can't even think of a bad thing, nor can my daughter--oh she wants cooking classes. haha. Best CAMP! RID: 50102

9/3/16   5     5     5     5     5   My 16 year old daughter just returned from her third summer at Camp Waziyatah and is literally counting the days until she returns. Not only does the camp offer a ton of varied daily activities they also have off camp excursions and nightly "socials" that bring the entire camp together and build a sense of community across all age groups. The staff is supportive, fun and encouraging. At drop off we are greeted by welcoming faces both familiar and new. Wazi is truly a second home. My daughter has made friendships that will last a lifetime with staff and other campers from all around the globe. My only child has become more independent, compassionate and confident. Wazi's supportive environment has allowed her to take initiative and try activities outside her comfort zone (who knew she would excel at riflery?) She feels good about herself, her efforts and her accomplishments. Thank you Gregg, Mitch and the entire Wazi community for the awesome, inspiring experiences! RID: 50065

8/11/16   5     5     5     5     5   We checked out some of the other camps in the same area as WAZI. They were nice, same activities and all. But what struck me different about Wazi was the staff. Everyone seemed like a family, and that's the kind of environment I wanted my son to have from the summer. He made so many friends, and really I was concerned about that because he tended to be a bit of a loner with his computer things at home. There were no electronics for a month, what a relief! He returned a different boy with a list of friends to write until he returns next year. The activities and sports, and comradery with all the campers is going to be something he lives with forever. Hats off to WAZI till next year! RID: 49916

8/3/16   5     5     5     5     5   Three years ago my son asked to go to a summer camp. I thought, ok, great experience, let him try it for a year. I was a wreck dropping him off that first day. Never did I think he would ask to go back summer after summer after summer. I can't even begin to describe in words what this camp has done for my son. The owners are very much involved and have their heart 100% into this camp, Gregg calmed my nerves that first day and even when I see him now he is always there with a smile. His counselors were amazing and the friendships he has formed will last a lifetime. Getting away from technology is also a bonus! With all the activities at camp cell phones aren't even missed. He experienced life, jumping in lakes, climbing rock walls, going on camping trips, connecting with kids from around the world. Being a kid. With the stress of the school year, being able to get away and experience a camp like this is priceless. Thank you camp Waziyatah for another incredible summer! Elsa R RID: 49879

7/23/16   5     5     5     5     5   My son just finished attending Camp Waziyatah and loved every minute of it. He's so bummed out that he couldn't stay longer but I made the mistake of signing up for only a month and it was already booked for the rest of the summer when I tried to extend it. He took loved the activities, great friendships and camaraderie. He enjoyed activities he normally wouldn't try at home like water skiing, archery and wilderness survival. He learned to take responsibility and skill for conflict resolution living closely with his cabin mates/friends. His counsellors were not only mentors but like older brothers that he doesn't have. He says his was the best time he every had. This is no mean compliment for a kid who's gone everyone and done almost everything. He can't wait to go back. RID: 49812

6/20/16   5     5     5     5     5   As a Wazi alum, I went in with very high expectations for my 9 year old daughter's first summer here. Wazi exceeded these expectations and more. My daughter went in hesitant but excited. They very quickly figured her out and what she likes/ how she is most comfortable and pulled her into that comfort zone. She returned from camp a more independent and confident kid. This would not have happened without the excellent management and staff at Wazi. With many campers they were still able to get to know them each individually. While this I feel is what makes a camp great, they also have the best activities, property and camp appropriate amenities that you can imagine. My daughter is a picky eater but loved the food! She was hesitant to try new sports but did so at camp because they made it fun! I can't say enough good things about Wazi! RID: 49687

6/3/16   5     5     5     5     5   My kids LOVE this camp! To have the opportunity to get offline and relax into nature is priceles. They didn't know a sole going into camp, which turned out to be a blessing. It gave them the chance to meet a ton of new kids and try on a new hat or two. A camp is only as good as their counsellors and the counsellors were amazing! For both of my kids, but especially my older one, I was concerned that all of the kids would know each other already and it would be cliquey but the counsellors were beyond fantastic, created a warm environment that encouraged the returning campers to include the newcomers, and knew exactly how to balance the "rules" vs. giving the older ones a little more freedom. They created special experiences for both of my kids that they still talk about months after camp. My kids still keep in touch with many of their camp friends. My only regret is that I didn't find this camp sooner! Mine can't wait to go back this summer!! RID: 49638

3/28/16   5     5     5     5     5   Howdy! Last summer I had the pleasure of spending my first summer at Camp Waziyatah, as a staff member. The camp setting is the most picturesque and natural landscape I've ever seen, the activities are run by highly qualified and dedicated members of staff, and it honestly feels like you've been welcomed into a big, new family. As a staff member, I loved seeing kids challenge themselves to activities outside of their comfort zones and really get to have exciting adventures during their time at camp. The social aspect of camp also allows children to make new, lasting friendships with kids from all over the country, and even the world! The staff is dedicated to the motto, Building Better Kids, and a summer spent at Camp Waziyatah is truly a positive, lasting experience for any child. RID: 49497

3/14/16   5     5     5     5     5   My son Miguel visited this camp for the first time last summer. This was his first time away from home and was a very anxious 7 year old. He came home a mature and confident 8 year old (He spent his birthday at camp, which he says was his "best birthday ever!"). His teachers and coaches this year have have expressed how much he has changed and grown in comparison to last year. I believe that the camp experience along with the staff matured him and allowed him to become more independent. Even now, months later, he speaks fondly of Gentry and Carl who seemed to have had a great impact on him. Camp Wazi was a delightful experience for myself as well. All my phone calls and concerns as a worried mom were answered kindly and promptly. I would recommend this camp again and again. RID: 49471

1/25/16   5     5     5     5     5   My 9 year old son went to Camp Waziyatah for 4 weeks last year and he had a fantastic time! He enjoyed all of the activities he tried, he thought the food was awesome, he loved his cabin counselors (who sent him a handwritten birthday card the following October!) and he made good friends! He didn't experience much (if any) homesickness even though it was by far the farthest and longest he's been away from home -- he said he was too busy doing fun stuff from the very start. When he came home he was full of funny stories, silly songs, dance moves, new games and a general sense of happiness that was a wonder and joy to see. Our family isn't in the financial position to dash off a check for 4 weeks at a 5 star summer camp at the last minute but it's definitely a savings priority for us now. As a parent, Camp Waziyatah is one of the very, very best experiences we could have ever given him and I am so excited to see what next summer brings! RID: 49400

1/5/16   5     5     5     5     5   I'll preface this by saying that I was a camp counselor at Camp Waziyatah. However, with that in mind, I am in no way being compensated for this review. I simply adore Wazi for what it is and I want to share with you why I believe that way. Camp Waziyatah is, without a doubt, a fantastic place. There’s more to do than any person could possibly have time for, and the staff, down to the last person, dedicate themselves to the camp's number one goal: Building Better Kids. It will, I promise, make a positive lasting impression on your child. While at camp, I watched as kids discovered themselves. I watched as they were challenged physically, mentally, and creatively. I watched some kids face down their greatest fears while others totally transformed, coming out of their shell and becoming the lively, confident version of themselves that was hidden deep down. I can guarantee that something as simple as a single summer at Wazi would make a positive lifelong impact your child's life RID: 49362

1/5/16   5     5     5     5     5   I can't say enough about Camp Wazi. Our 11 year old daughter attended last summer for the first time and it was a magical experience for her. If you close your eyes, and imagine every fantastic idea or cliche you've ever had about a camp, you'd be looking at Camp Wazi: Beautiful, peaceful, thrilling, enriching. Moreover, the kids seem to be some of the nicest kids around. We've met a few and heard stories of many more. The staff was always responsive, kind, patient and super enthusiastic. The activities were so varied and of such high quality, our daughter didn't have time to do them all even though she was there for a month. If I could give my number out, I would gladly talk about this camp for hours. We so hope that this camp will be part of our daughter's life for many many years to come. RID: 49360

She went for two weeks, to play it safe, and wishes that she could have stayed four weeks. She enjoyed the many fun activities, said the food was great, the grounds beautiful, the counselors were so engaged and fun to be around and she made so many new friends! She could not stop talking about the great time she had. We were thrilled with the experience! The staff was also so professional, enthusiastic and very nice.  8/21/15   5     5     5     5     5   Exactly what you imagine when you dream of what summer camp can be. Beautiful setting on its own lake, clean cabins, great food (actually better than you dream about, they have an extraordinary chef/kitchen crew), and most importantly, a joyful, supportive, family atmosphere. My sons, 11 and 9, went to sleepway camp for the 1st time this year, 2 weeks with the option of staying another 2 (they stayed). They were happy, energetic, excited and blissfully (for them as well as us) electronics-free. Wazi has the expected (and some unexpected) activities, creating an atmosphere where kids want to try things they've never done before, confident that they will be supported and encouraged (our son who never wanted to try drama says that the play and musical he performed in were the best of camp). A transformative experience! They returned self-reliant, confident, great citizens, who now have an extended family to whom they will return next summer and many more to come. Thank you, Camp Waziyata! RID: 49110

6/19/15   5     5     5     5     5   I've gone to the camp for the past four years and I can count on one hand the number of times something went wrong, and the issues were always immended instantly. There was never a single point in time when I wanted to go home. It says on the website that it's camp without cliques, and I can honestly say that is entirely true. Color war at the end of every session has always been my favorite and the friends I've made will always be some of my best friends. To anyone who hasn't been in summer camp...  3/31/15   5     5     5     5     5   Every year as my parents, sister, and I drive up Mill Hill road my sister and I take turns looking out the window waiting to see the camp Waziyatah sign. When we do we look at each other and our faces fill with smiles. The experiences I've had and the friends I've made have helped me to become myself. At camp you don't have to fit in in fact you're encouraged to be unique and yourself. I've been going to camp for 5 years and this with be my 6th and I'll be a C. I. T., but I always hold the soul of the 9 going on 10 year old camper I was my first year. Camp is something I think about everyday. Sometimes I whistle up the tune of an old color war cheer (by old I mean 5 years old). Watching as the Wazi tribe grows each year makes me love camp more and more knowing my 2nd family is growing.  2/12/15   5     5     5     5     5   Working at Camp Waziyatah completely changed my life! Being an international and deciding to work at a camp in America was very nerve racking and didn't know what to expect. Now looking back I don't how those thought ever crossed my mind, as the second I stepped onto Wazi ground it immediately felt like home and I never wanted to leave. It by far was the best summer I have ever had and can’t imagine my summers will ever compete. It’s amazing to see kids grow in just a few weeks and how comfortable they feel soon as they arrive no matter if they are returners or newbies like me. Soon as you drive into camp you immediately have so many friends that will stay in your life forever. Camp friends are friends like no other, they are family too.  2/9/15   5     5     5     5     5   My kids absolutely LOVE camp Wazi. They will be going for the third time this summer, and I need to mention that we live in California, all the way on the West Coast. The camp is a family run business and it feels like one - everyone know everyone else, the kids get a ton of personal attention and campers have been returning for years (this is probably the most impressive part). Grown-up campers become counselors, so they can continue attending. Kids are making memories that will warm their hearts for years to come, and I can only think "I wish my parents had sent me to camp".... Wholeheartedly recommended! RID: 48389

1/28/15   5     4     5     5     5   From first learning about Wazi & meeting directors, we have been pleased with the Wazi experience. I had not considered a 2+wk sleepaway camp before but after a 1-1 mtg with the director, I was reassured it was the camp to try. I appreciate the time he took to answer questions & share his enthusiasm for managing a camp. My son had a great experience. He bonded with cabinmates, counselors & staff. He went beyond his comfort zone & tried new activities he never would have had the opportunity to do like horsebacking riding. He liked being able to choose his activities & change it up during his stay. I valued the change in pace & environment he experienced. Even with all the activities,he relaxed. Cabins were clean & comfortable. Beautiful spot on the lake, tall trees, open fields. Great escape from a hectic schedule of school sports & screens. We felt informed & connected with what was happening while at camp. Pictures posted daily. Have participated in post-camp events. Highly recommend RID: 48337

12/29/14   5     5     5     5     5   It is hard to fit into 1000 characters the impact that Camp Wazi has had on me over these past five years. I have attended Camp as both a camper and as a staff member, and each year, the love I have for this place grows. The staff is dedicated, well trained, and committed to making sure that every child has the best possible summer. These past two years, I have had the opportunity to watch my two siblings attend Wazi, and get a front row seat to watching them mature in both responsibility and character. They are definitely better kids for attending this place. It is truly hard to describe the essence that exists within the magic of Wazi. Maybe its the timeless traditions maintained, or the rustic and beautiful scenery, but there is something in the Wazi air that is indescribable. If I had the chance to return every year, I would take it. Even as an adult, I learn more and more about who I am, and who I want to be on those grounds. It wasn’t like any other camp which I had been to before…it was fresh, new and exciting. They welcome you with open arms and give you love no matter what. They accept all differences and it was a wonderful experience. I felt as if I had been there for years. There were so many fun activities which are one of a kind like “Socials” every Friday, prom, running for Camp Director for the day and lip-synching. There were just so many crazy fun, new experiences which you just won’t find anywhere else but Camp Wazi. I loved it and I now consider Camp Wazi, my home away from home. RID: 47262

Her first summer she was 10 years old and she spend a full 4 weeks there without us visiting, and the first thing that she said when she saw us at the airport was: Can I go back next year ?  3/14/14   5     5     5     5     5   Everyone, at some point in their lives, should have a Wazi summer. There is truly nothing like it. As a staff member for their 2013 season, I was skeptical about what working at a summer camp would entail. What I learned, however, was through the love and devotion to preserving what it means to be a kid, the Parker family has nurtured into being a place where children can severe their ties to the digital world and live in the moment. With a wide variety of activities, a culture laden with tradition, and the back drop of woodland Maine, Wazi has it all. What impressed me most about Camp Waziyatah was the environment the counselors work so hard to preserve for the kids. The whole camp unites as a family, with nobody left on the outskirts. In a whole summer I never saw any child without something to do and a friend to do it with. I am so proud to be a part of Camp Waziyatah and would recommend this camp to anybody looking to provide their children with a summer camp experience. RID: 47037

2/10/14   5     5     5     5     5   I can say without exaggeration that working for Camp Waziyatah has been the best experience of my life. I signed on thinking i was going to have a pretty fun summer in Maine, but watching and playing a role in the way that Wazi positively shapes the lives of the youngsters that attend turned out to be completely transformative for me as well. It was in the way that every single child that stepped foot on the camp became a happier, more outgoing version of themselves, seeing a child reach the top of the climbing tower after being too scared to come near it just two days earlier, then stand up on water skis and learn to ride a horse for the first time. The Parkers have truly poured their heart and soul into making Wazi a safe and exciting camp experience - from the authentic and very well maintained facilities, to the meticulously selected counselors that forge true life-long connections with their campers. In a very real way, Wazi is the greatest place I've ever been! RID: 46732

2/3/14   5     5     5     5     5   After attending Camp Waziyatah for 6 straight summers, I can honestly say that my camp experiences have shaped me into the person that I am today. A combination of memories leaning to sail on Lake McWain as a camper, mastering all of Baker Jim's recipes as a Junior Counselor, and developing leadership skills as a counselor laid the foundation for my expectations out of life. Camp Waziyatah truly gives kids a world of good, creating a safe environment to where they can create memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. A combination of beautiful lakefront scenery, an enthusiastic staff, and good old camp tradition, makes for the summer of a lifetime. Though my years spent at camp have come to an end, I will always look back on my time there with fondness. RID: 46696

1/23/14   5     5     5     5     5   My daughter Sydney is 17 and has been at Wazi for the past 5 years. This summer will be her 6th and final summer. She's gone from scared yet excited camper for 3 years, to proud CIT, then busy JC. This year she hopes to be a staffer. I cannot say enough about WAZI. She LOVES it. So much so that her college essays are titled "Wazi: Where Happiness Lives". The friendships she's formed are deep, true and will last a lifetime. The camp has a nurturing and stimulating culture that has given her such a sense of belonging and mindfulness. I was terrified the first year. It felt like I sent her off into the great beyond. Its nerve wracking the first year! When she came back to Miami, I asked "on a scale of 1-10, how did you like it'? She said 42! Gregg and Mitch really love the camp and have taken great pains to ensure the campers have an unforgettable, life changing summer, each and EVERY year. I have recommended Wazi to parents whose kids were skeptical but are now converts. Go WAZI! RID: 46622

1/12/14   5     5     5     5     5   I spent two years at Waziyatah as a counselor and can tell you that it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I was tentative at first, but adapted to my surroundings and genuinely enjoyed the Wazi way of life. My cabin was not just a place to sleep,  it became a home. My campers were not just faces from New York, Florida and California; they were unique guys with individual skills and identities. But before I even knew it, the summer was already ending. After a few tear-filled days and hundreds of phone numbers and Facebook names exchanged, everyone went their separate ways and found themselves back in the real world. But even after camp, I could feel a real change. I wholeheartedly believe every kid should spend a summer at Wazi; whether they are social butterflies or shy they will become more well-rounded individuals and find strengths they never thought they had. I can almost guarantee by the end of the summer that they will be begging to go back. RID: 46564

1/9/14   5     5     5     5     5   My child has been going to Camp Waziyatah for several years. I remember the first year we sent her for only two weeks to see how she would like it, and after one week we got the call begging us to extend her to 4 weeks! Since that time, every year when she gets home, she starts to count off days until summer again. The owners of Wazi and the staff have created an amazing environment for the kids to learn, grow and build lifelong friendships. They are always responsive to answering questions, keeping you updated on your child and ensuring their individual needs are met. In such a picturesque setting, it's no wonder why our child doesn't want to leave. Every year has been better than the next for us and our child. Not only is it a very special place, but the staff creates a bond that last far beyond summer. RID: 46526

12/12/13   5     5     5     5     5   Camp Waziyatah was the best experience of my daughters life! We are counting down the days until the first session this Summer - but thank god for Facebook and Instagram so that she is in constant contact with her 12 new best friends. I researched many camps and thank god we found Wazi!! It has changed my 13 year olds and my families life forever. I never went to sleep away camp and I was very nervous about the experience - but to wake up everyday to see pictures of your child Happy, Safe and enjoying activities they have never done before was incredible. Of course the setting is beautiful but I can't say enough about the Owners, the counselors, nurses, travel coordinators and according to my daughter...the kitchen staff. How is it possible that my child raves about cooked carrots!!!! Thank you so much Wazi family for all of your hard work, guidance and love for all of your campers --- We can't wait to see you in 6 months. RID: 46371

7/19/13   5     5     5     5     5   The best decision we've made in a long time was sending our 9 year old son and 11 year old daughter to Camp Wazi this summer for 4 weeks! From the night in February when Gregg and Natalia Parker (the owners) came to our home to spend over an hour with our kids talking about the camp and answering all of their questions, to the first day when our slightly timid kids walked onto the camp and was greeted immediately by wonderful counselors and staff! Every day, my kids tried new things, made amazing friendships with kids from all over the country and gained an independence and confidence that is simply priceless! Our kids are already asking to go for longer next summer! Gregg Parker was incredibly responsive to any of my questions or concerns and even went as far as to call me to update me on my son (who I had not seen in a picture yet on the first day! This is the best money we've spent and we highly recommend this wonderful, family owned camp. RID: 45241

7/16/13   4     5     5     4     4   My daughter went to Wazi for the first time last year, she was 14. It was an amazing experience : she enjoyed making new friends from all over the world, activities all day, outdoor spirit, excellent food, beautiful setting and we have been happy about the organization, communication from the staff, personal attention from Gregg and Mitch. In our today’s digital world, it is also fantastic to discover a place where they can disconnect and come back to great values: friendship and nature. Of course she wanted to come back this year and I registered her for 2 weeks. She begged for an extension and told me that she was so busy and so happy that she really wanted to stay the full 4 weeks session. We miss her but the pictures show her always smiling and so joyful that we accepted to wait 2 more weeks to see her back home! RID: 45192

3/29/13   5     4     5     5     5   My 13 y.o. daughter tried this camp after being talked into it by her best friend last year, and it was the best thing she EVER did!! It was a life changing experience for her. My shy and reserved daughter came back from camp all smiles and confidence. The camp staff bent over backwards to accommodate her so that she could attend camp with her best friend, so that it wouldn't be a scary and overwhelming experience- even allowing her to come "off session" due to a pre-booked family vacation. Although that meant she arrived late, and the other campers had already bonded, the staff and campers welcomed her with open arms and made her feel part of the group instantly. She tried many new activities, made diverse friendships, stretched herself in ways none of us thought possible, and made memories that will last a lifetime! As she embarked on a new high school search this year, she drew on her camp experiences to help find her way. When I say "life changing", I mean it!! RID: 44136

3/5/13   5     5     5     5     5   My children have attended Camp Wazi for the last five summers as campers and now they are counselors. To sum it up my daughters live for the summmer. The Camp Waziyatah experience has changed there life. They have built lifelong friendships and experiences that they will remember for there lifetime. The Parkers are amazing "hands on" camp owners and directors and have made camp a wonderful home for my kids each summer. The camp itself is on the most gorgeous, picturesque piece of property with the charm of Maine and the facilities are rustic and comfortable. My children love their activities on the lake. They learned to water ski and they are lifeguards as counselors so they can continue to spend time doing what they love to do. They love the organized games and look forward to the yearly contests. They even look forward to eating in the dining hall and especially enjoy theme nights like yummy taco night. The value of Camp Wazi for me is priceless. We will be back! RID: 43884

3/4/13   5     5     5     5     5   Our son is 12 and Camp Wazi was his first "away" camp experience. We learned about Camp Wazi through a Camp Fair in NH. We were immediately drawn to the Camp's mission & values; environment; Maine setting; and all the activities they enjoy. Brad was a bit apprehensive to leave his dog and us for 2 weeks; however, on the day we arrived, the assimilation was fantastic! We enjoyed about an hour of touring and getting to know new friends at Wazi with Brad before we set him off into his journey. Having the ability to call the Counselors to check in on Brad on occasion; as well as to send him emails and receive a few postcards from him was a GREAT way to allow Brad the autonomy to participate in a true camp experience! We highly recommend Camp Wazi and Brad looks forward to his next reunion with Bunk-mates and friends from all over the Country! Bursey family RID: 43880

2/13/13   5     5     5     5     5   As a former Wazi staff member I'd like to tailor this review to "newbie" parents. I hadn't considered sending my children to sleepaway camp but had the opportunity to work there last summer and my teen kids came along, as well. I had a great vantage point in that I could observe all of the kids, including my own, and learned a lot about the camp experience in general and what makes Wazi special in particular. I enjoyed watching my shy teens jump right into the action, welcomed as if they were old timers. Seeing 150 campers living full time without the usual parental/household influences was fascinating. I saw relationship building, problem solving, tremendous love and support, and all of the usual humor, fun, games, and noise. I finally "got" what camp is all about. Mitch and Gregg Parker are clearly devoted to their camp, and work hard at safeguarding all aspects of camp life. To sum it up: I'm putting my money where my mouth is and transitioning from staff to paying customer! RID: 43681

1/23/13   5     5     5     5     5   What a blast!!! I visited Maine last summer for a tour of camps with my 7 y/o daughter. Wazi was 3rd camp we saw. Spent two days there and she didn't want to leave. (We didn't bother going to the 4th camp on the list.) The facilities were great; staff and campers even better! Her favorites were water skiing (camp has its own end of a private picturesque lake); climbing wall; the "blob"; arts. Makes a parent feel great seeing child having so much fun. She'll be back with her new friends (and to make more) this summer. A bit hesitant to send her so young, but she got tons of great support and attention from staff and other campers. The camp has a wonderful sense of community where all campers see each other everyday, so great for those who want to send siblings away together. Wazi was exactly what I envisioned when I was trying to figure out the perfect camp for my daughter (and my son in a couple more years). Will update my review after this summer, but don't expect any changes. RID: 43474

9/25/12   5     5     5     5     5   The rating "excellent" or "superlative" should be used for this camp, not "good" as your scale shows. My daughter has attended Wazi for the last 2 summers and lives and breathes for camp as a result of her experience there. Bonds developed w/friends for the rest of her life will form a sisterhood she would never have had it not been for Wazi. Besides friends, interests she never knew she had have been sparked with the activities offered. Wazi provides a safe environment in which to grow, mature and practice her individuality. Camp owners Mitch and Greg have encouraged this, offering her the opportunity to demonstrate leadership skills in a very direct manner as she was elected captain of one of the Color War teams. As a result, she has planned her next 4 summers there to be CIT/counselor. Mitch and Greg have created a very special environment I haven't seen at other camps. In short, my daughter's life has been and will be enhanced by her Wazi experiences. RID: 42755

8/26/12   5     5     5     5     5   I was a staff member at this camp for three years and would recommend it to anyone considering a summer camp. The directors put such a strong emphasis on making sure you have a positive influence on the campers I found it to be an incredibly rewarding experience to work there. One thing I found so great about working at this camp was how well the director's did at making it more of a home than a summer camp. When a child is away from home for the first time there is a lot of apprehension that may come with being away from home and the directors made sure that every staff member was completely trained to handle this situation efficiently. I personally felt that I matured an incredible amount while working at this camp. I learned so much about diversity that I'm confident that Waziyatah truly bettered me as a person and I feel it has the same influence on the camper. I recommend this camp to any one who wants to send their child somewhere that can have a great influence on their child. RID: 42516

8/24/12   5     5     5     5     5   This is my 8th summer at wazi and words cannot describe how much I love it there. I basically grew up at this camp and learned so many things that school could never teach me. You start of the session being complete strangers with someone and you leave camp being best friends. The friends I made here I keep in touch with all year round and probably will keep in touch with for the rest of my life. All year camp is all I can think about and where I want to be, when camp finally starts you just feel at home again, it's a feeling out of this world. When leaving, its always hard to say goodbye. I could never even being to describe how this camp has impacted and changed me as a person, I can't even imagine what I would be like today without it. I feel so unbelievably lucky to have experience such an amazing thing in my life, the experience is worth all the money in the world. I could go on and on for hours, but let me just say that every summer is unforgettable and I will remember forever. RID: 42486

This camp has taught me some of the most important qualities of life. My family has grown so big with all of the amazing people I have been #blessed with. Every single detail about this camp is beautiful. All the activities I have learned will only take me farther in life. This camp has made me pee my pants with joy every summer. The staff are so involved that no kid is left w/o having a great time and getting to pick what they want to do. I was even impressed with the selection of food!  4/25/12   5     5     5     5     5   Words cannot express how Wazi has changed my kids lives. They have met life long friends, have become independent and have gained so much self confidence. The staff is amazing and the owners truly love kids. One of the best things that Wazi does to separate themselves from any other camp is that the kids have the feedom to choose every activitiy that they go to throughout the day and at meals, they are reunited with their best friends and bunk mates. I love this!!! Wazi really advocates individuality and at the same time there is an insane amount of camaraderie amoung all the kids at Wazi. I went to camp my whole life in North Carolina and you cannot compare the beauty and the experience that Maine/Wazi offers. I wish I could spend my summers there too :)! The kids and staff there are from all parts of the world, which definitely adds an element that is missed in the middle of the continent. Also, there are considerable more(and wide ranging) activities offered there as compared to other camps. My daughters were encouraged to try things that they would not necessarily get to do here and I suspect it was that "try new things" mentality that now has them constantly seeking new adventures here. My daughters will be going there for their third year now (they started at ages 10 and 8), and I suspect that they will be Wazi Campers until they reach the age where they are eligible to become Wazi Counselors. This camp has something which is hard to find these days - a real heart. It is a place that so many people return to each and every year and also a place where new friends can come along and begin building their Wazi memories. It has been an honour to become part of the Waziyatah family and I hope that people continue to come for many more years. One of the things the kids like most is the freedom to choose different activities everyday. They also comment on how good the food is as well, especially the camp bakery. The lake is very clean and the overall environment in Maine where the camp is situated is quite pristine. We always feel good about leaving the kids in such a beautiful place. We're happy to recommend camp wazi to other parents who are considered sleep-away camp for their kids. During the year, the owners/directors hold several events for the kids to get together again (ice skating on Boston Commons once, Roller Skating, etc.) which the kids look forward to as a chance to see camp friends.  8/11/11   5     4     5     5     4   This camp is excellent. It was my son's first camp experience and he was already asking to return next year when we came to pick him up. The staff and admin. are wonderfully attentive and responsive. All questions answered quickly and cheerfully - very proactive! The fundamentals are fantastic, activities abound and are varied, and the staff really know how to connect with the kids! Campers are from all over the country and the world. My son made great friendships that will last a lifetime. I highly recommend Camp Wazi to first-timers and veteran campers alike! Thanks, Wazi, for a summer my son will never forget! RID: 36685

5/4/11   5     5     5     5     5   This summer will be my 11th consecutive year at Wazi, which should already make it clear how wonderful of a place it is. I've been a camper, CIT1, CIT2 and now going into my 4th year as a counselor. It's really an incredible place to make new friends and learn more about yourself. This past summer my 11 year old step brother attended camp for the first time and continuously extended his time there. He took me aside during one social to thank me for bringing him to camp as he loved it so much and he felt so much more confident and independent. This summer his 9 year old sister and his best friend are joining him at camp! Wazi has really great traditions and is such an accepting and fun environment where you make the best friends in the world. I promise anyone would love their time here, you'll never want to leave!  4/25/11   5     4     5     5     4   Camp Wazi is a place of total acceptance. Regardless of your economic standing, race, or religion, you will be treated like a true friend from the moment you step foot on the beautiful property. There are few places in the world that can boast such a diverse landscape along with an ever-enthusiastic staff and dedicated clientele. Any parent sitting on the fence has only to call a Wazi family and hear it firsthand- this place ROCKS! RID: 35731
Click to report rating    7/28/09   5     4     5     5     5   My kids just returned from their first time at Wazi and are still moaning about how much they miss it. They had a fantastic experience and definitely want to go back. My kids felt so safe and nurtured there and now seem more responsible and courteous. These seem to be among some of the core values that are taught at Wazi. I met my kids' counselors and was struck by how kind and caring they were. I also heard about how creative they were especially on special otter days and during evening activities. I was also most impressed with the new camp directors. They are wonderful people and really have their hearts into this camp. They have made some great improvements and I am sure will continue to make the camp even better. Both of my kids became avid water skiiers and raved about the extensive activities from jumping on the blob, to rock climbing and skate boarding. They also loved the food and all of the home baked goodies, including the gorgeous cakes. Finally my kids made great friends. RID: 30569

I feel bad for wazi, it used to be a magical place back in the day. Such a shame, such a waste, it was such a good camp RID: 23040

Click to report rating    12/26/06   4     3     5     5     5   I attended Camp Waziyatah for 6 years as a camper and I couldn't even explain to you what this camp meant to me. I decided to go back as a CIT for my 7th year. I had a good time, though the CIT director left ( we drove him mad) we still accomplished a lot as a group and learned a lot about the camp and about ourselves. This last summer I returned as a CIT2, and it was amazing. I had a blast and I really felt like I was staff (even though I technically wasn't, due to my age and seeing as I was a CIT2). I would seriously reccomend this camp to anyone. It's such an amazing place and I have made the best friends there. The campers are so accepting, they don't care if you're tall, short, rich, middle class, poor, white, black, skinny, fat, ugly, pretty, whatever. I've learned so many life lessons from here and if it's still around in 15 years I'm sending my kids here. RID: 6303
