I attended this camp as a staff member for one year. During my time there, I witnessed many other staff be unfairly treated, including myself. There were incidents of staff drinking and smoking weed while they were supposed to be watching the kids during an overnight trip. Who was fired vs who was not? totally based on your relationship with the director. there is so much to unpack right there. during my time there, I was also fired. I was unfairly accused for allegedly not allowing a child to eat lunch. there was no investigation held, nor any questioning of what I had actually said. you would expect with what they charge, they could afford to have a structured organization that includes HR to ensure no staff is neglected. However, they continually utilized shaming tactics and minimal training on how to manage kids, esp when most staff were hs or college aged. you want to go support an organization that cultivates respect and takes accountability? take your money and go elsewhere.

Everything is smoke and mirrors, small example staff is told to give the children tiny dentist cups of warm water (no ice) during the hot day (because the camp is just cheap), yet at pick up time, when the parents are arriving, low and behold the directors give the kids full size cold water bottles to head to their car with, making it appear to parents they get that all day long. Even worse, they tell the campers Year after Year to come work with them, convince the parents to PAY them to have their child learn to be a counselor, then basically use them as CHILD LABOR, yelling at them instead of teaching them how to manage children, making them change children’s clothing and help them in the bathroom which should not be allowed, forcing them to watch autistic children they can’t possibly know how to handle as they are under age themselves and worst of all paying them only $2.50 per hour under the guise that they will earn tip money to make up for the fact that they don’t pay them anythi

This camp used to be pretty good - my son attended it for 4 years. Under the old director (Paul), things actually got done. Under the new director, they are much more focused on finding excuses why something is OK the way it is, rather than finding ways to fix it. My son gets bullied constantly by an aggressive child in his group. We reported it to the camp director and others repeatedly, yet they fail to do a single thing about it. The counselor is also useless, as his abilities do not appear to extend beyond saying "Don't do it" from time to time. I am at a point where I will be calling the Policy Department and my attorneys to deal with the camp management. Stay away, unless you want your child traumatized for life.

This is my daughter's first year at Country Roads. She didn't know anyone when she started. So far she is very happy with her group and her counselors. I met her head counselor and she is very nice. The kids do a lot of different activities from animation to trapeeze, to archery. The camp also serves lunch and provides towels for the children. All I have to do is pack a swimsuit each day for my child. My daughter likes the food too! There were a few times I had to call the camp with questions I had, and they got back to me within a few hours. There are also special events. This week was carnival. From what my daughter tells me the kids played various carnival games and ate cotton candy. My only criticism is that there isn't much to do on oppressively hot days. The kids basically stay in the pools all day long. I wish the kids would have more chance to go into the air conditioned buildings. Otherwise my daughter comes home every day telling me how happy she is, and that makes me happy

I love this camp! The staff are nice, but facilities at times aren't so nice. For example, once,a towel was covered in dirt and the pools could be dirty. The activites are fun, and the staff watch you all they can, but sometimes, BARELY, they can be distracted. <3 it and bottom line: I recommend this to others!

My son is very happy with the camp. The varsity trips are fun, and each week they have something different. Snow mountain was the best, per my son. Really enjoys it. Alot of the kids in the area also go there, which he also likes. No complaints.

i completely agree with the comment below me. i was a specialized leader in an art program at country roads and they had no premade program created for the summer, they had me make one up before camp started but then threw together something completely different at the last minute. i never had enough materials, directors ignored any requests i had, and threw out many projects that the kids had made because, and this is a direct quote, "what parent wants to see this garbage? they wont hang it up if it doesnt look nice", so every week i redid all the projects before they were sent home and had kids crying to me saying it wasnt theirs..this camp stunts children's imaginations and creativity which essential to their growth and learning. hands down the worst camp i ever worked at. and highly inappropriate for children.

Ive served in the camping industry before and must admit this has to be one of the WORST run camps Ive ever seen. Staff training is subpar and is evident in the counselor/camper relations. Administration there has poor communication not only with staff but with parents as well. Supervision of the campers is severely lacking. Activities are thrown together at the last minute and poorly planned and when hiccups occur, staff is blamed. Camper projects deemed unattractive have been reworked for parents to the dismay of the campers who do not recognize their own work. Many times i had also witnessed things that would be considered inappropriate such as counselors wearing inappropriate swimwear (bikinis) and obscene conversations in the presence of campers. The CIT program is poorly run negatively impacting not only the teens involved, but often time the overall camp atmosphere. The facilities are underused and the special events are questionable. Chocolate pudding wrestling?

they were upset with my son, even though I told them that he has ADD they didn't supervise when the other kids kept picking on him and were annoyed when he became upset with the other more athletic kids for being mean to him. Katrina the director was not very understanding with him and they pretty much threw him out after two days because he hadn't made any friends instead of showing a little compassion. She also was very nasty with me and made me feel it was my fault my son didn't fit in with the kids who bullied him. My son reported being dunked by bullies in the pool and ignored the rest of the time. They certainly didn't try to make him feel very welcome. They were also upset with him because he did not like any of the food they offered. My son was traumatized by this experience.
