Click to report rating    8/23/18   5     5     5     5     5   I attended Camp May Flather for seven summers, from 1958 to 1964. Now, at age 70, I still have vivid memories of the friendships, the connection with nature, the laughter and the sheer fun I had at CMF. Camp May Flather was one of the most formative experiences of my life! RID: 52212
Click to report rating    8/5/17   5     5     5     5     5   Amazing camp. I rated everything a five. The staff are helpful and kind; they try their best to make camp a wonderful experience, and they do their job well. The bathrooms smell, but this isn't a five star resort, and camp isn't all about pristine bathrooms. They have a plethora of fun activities to enjoy, from a challenge course to hiking trails to a creek complete with a swimming hole. The camp may seem expensive, but you pay around 400-450 dollars for a fabulous experience; compared to other sleepaway camps that amount of money is very low. Definitely recommend. RID: 51174
Click to report rating    1/16/17   5     5     5     5     5   I love this camp so much! It was the best camp i have gone to. It had a great, supportive environment. They have activities like, climbing, challenge course, archery, creaking, crafts, games, making pudding, canoeing, rafting, caving, all-camp, pool time, volley ball and rest time. The facilities are great, they have cabins and tents. I have slept in both. The cabins are nice, it just depends on how many people are in your cabin. The tents are great and spacious. I really enjoy this camp and i go back year after year and see all my favorite counselors. They have great food and you get snacks all the time. I was never hungry at this camp and you also get dessert at almost every meal! CMF is a great place and I recommend it to all campers. CMF makes everyone comfortable and if you do not want to do an activity you don't have to. They call it "Challenge by choice".I make so many friends at CMF and I see them every summer! RID: 50354
Click to report rating    6/19/16   5     4     5     5     5   I looooooooooove CMF!! All of the councilours are fantastic, and go by nicknames such as "Nutella" or "River". I gave the facilities a 4 b/c the latrines are a little gross, but this is camp, not the ritz! The activities are great, and no matter what program you sign up for, you still get to do swimming, crafts, archery, climbing, etc. in my group, we also did the challenge course, cookout, parties, hiking, and swimming at a creek. The councilours are really caring, and at night, they will tell you a story if you like, and then they will give you a high five, hug, or handshake if you like. The monetary value is fabulous for everything you get to do. This is my 2nd year attending CMF, and I plan to go there until I'm too old!!! RID: 49681

12/3/14   5     5     5     5     5   So for staff I rated it a 5 because they are all so nice, sweet and they will do anything for the girls (Once a counselor give me her shirt when I was cold) and the relationship you form with the counselors is amazing. For facilities I gave it a 5 because yeah, the bathrooms are a little smelly, but this is camp not the Embassy Suites! The showers are amazing, the Stone Lodge is beautiful and the history behind it is phenomenal, the Mess Hall is one of my favorite places on camp, so full of life especially during meals. Activities earned a 5 because they are perfect every group gets to rock climb and do the challenge course at least once a week and every group swims unless there is a conflict in schedule. Personal attention is a 5 because if I was sad counselors I didn't ever know would ask me if I was okay and if I needed something. And monetary value is a 5 because its $400-ish for the time of your life. I would recommend CMF to anybody (who is a girl)! It really has changed my life! RID: 48184
Click to report rating    8/23/13   5     5     5     5     5   I love Camp May Flather. I have been going to this camp since I was 7 and now I am 14. I have even gotten 3 friends and my little sister to go to camp with me and they have all had an amazing time. I enjoy Camp May Flather because the counselors are very friendly and care about each girl, and will take time to see if they are okay if anything looks wrong. The counselors are very nnice, funny, and caring. The food is amazing. I have never had a dull/bad time at camp. My parents even have told me that they can see a difference in how I act before I leave for camp and how I act when I get back. They say I always seem happier and get along better with my siblings when I get back from camp. The food is amazing as well. They serve three meals a day and all are amazing and they have many alternate options for people with dietary restrictions. (I know this because I am a vegetarian, and the vegetarian options I have gotten were amazing.) I love going to Camp May Flather,it is the best. RID: 45824
Click to report rating    8/13/13   5     5     5     5     5   Camp May Flather is honestly the best camp i've ever been to, The counslers have always been there for me, my friendship was at stake and one of them was a amazing person and helped me all the way through it. I still talk to my counsler through letters till this day. May Flather also has AWESOME activities such as archery, climbing wall, and depending on what program you take, is a special one! I would totally suggest this camp to someone looking to experience new things, and just to blossom into a new person. My parents always tell me that I come back from camp a better/cheerful person. Camp totally has changed my life. I love it and I'm planning to go and become a CIT and eventually a counselor when I become the age. Camp MayFlather totally helps you become a leader and makes you realize the positive things in life. Hopefully, if my kid is a girl when I become a parent when I get older, I'll make her go to MayFlather. It's close to my heart and I would do anything to go another year. RID: 45671
Click to report rating    7/12/13   5     5     5     5     5   I love coming to Camp May Flather! The staff is amazing (and part british <3), they care about every girl and are extremely easy to get along with. The food is great too, we ate 3 meals a day, and one night we got to cook our own dinner. The art lodge is really nice (minus the hill you have to climb to get up to it) and has fun activities (we did tie dying). The pool is great and it's not head to pass the swim test at all :) RID: 45135
Click to report rating    12/23/12   5     5     5     5     5   BEST CAMP EVER! May Flather has the best facilities, most exciting activities, and an incredibly enthusiastic staff! RID: 43263
8/8/12   5     5     5     5     5   How dare you people critisize Mayflather like this! I just got back and it was the best week of my entire life! The counslers were AMAZING! So maybe sometimes we do something silly, but REALLY. Platform tents are usually more popular than the cabins because 1. they're bigger 2. Bugs get into cabins too, but because the tents are brightly colored you can remove them before going to bed. There is only one girl scout camp in virginia that has flush toilets, and the camps there are NOT worth it. The toilets are always dirty and no one ever refills the toilet paper. At least here the biffies are clean, even if they do smell a little, it's not like you can smell them unless you're in the stall, and if you can't put up with that just go home. Mayflather was the best thing that ever happened to me. If you're stubborn enough to hold a grudge against one time that may or may not have been that bad, don't ruin it for someone who might miss out on the time of their life because of you. RID: 42286

Click to report rating    10/16/11   1     1     3     1     4   These counselors are the worst. They treat the girls like they're five, are rude, and for the most part they're not nice people. The facilities are disgusting. It wouldn't be too difficult to enclose all of the bunks but May Flather seems unable to. As a result, girls get bitten by bugs while they sleep. Although the camp provides mosquito netting, it almost always has huge holes in it. You have to go everywhere with a buddy, even if it's 4 am and you'll only be walking three feet to the smelly latrines. You have to drag one of your bunkmates out of bed because you get in huge trouble if you go by yourself. Worst camp that I have ever been to. RID: 37065
Click to report rating    2/13/11   5     5     5     5     5   Ihave been to this camp for 3 years now, andit is one of my favorite places. The people are amazing there- counselors really enjoy dong everything. They make everything fun. I love making new friends each year at camp. There are a lot of activites at camp- canoeing, climbing tower, rock climbing, hiking creeking, games on the green, arts and crafts, cookouts, and more. Camp May Flather is a grreat place to spend the summer- I look forward to it all year. RID: 35093
Click to report rating    6/3/10   5     5     5     5     5   Camp May Flather is an amazing camp. Out of my seven years going to camp, all of them have been spent at May Flather. The staff is exceptional and are truly wonderful and adventurous people to be around. The activities are thrilling for all ages and send you white water rafting one day to climbing a real rock face another day. Celia has been an amazing camp director and has spent quality time bonding with the entire camp body. Everything at this camp will send your children on the best adventures of their life! RID: 32898
Click to report rating    7/18/09   5     5     5     5     5   I've been to three GS camps (CMF, CCT, and CPW) and even tho I've only been to May Flather once it is my favorite. I loved how the camp director actually was involved with us and how the staff really liked participating in the activities with us. it has the best shower facilities, mess hall, international (and American) staff and lay out. I really enjoyed spending a week of my summer there. RID: 30450
Click to report rating    5/21/09   5     5     5     5     5   May Flather is an amazing camp under great leadership. Your time spent there is so fun and you get to do lots and lots of activities. I have gone there for five years now and am always excited to return every summer. They have caving, real rock climbing, climbing tower, games on the green, swimming, canoeing, campfires, cooking, and so much more in a great area. The staff are always amazing to spend time with and the camp is well worth a long visit. RID: 29814
Click to report rating    3/19/09   5     5     5     5     5   This is, by far, my favorite camp out of the 3 I've been to (CMF, CCT and CPW). I've been going to camp for 6 years, and 4 of those years have been at CMF. I like how there are often returning staff, so you know a lot of councelors as soon as you get there. Also, there are many activities to choose from and there's almost always something for everyone. Hopefully I'll be CITing there during the summer of 2010 :) RID: 29315
Click to report rating    4/2/08   5     4     5     4     5   Girl Scout camp is Fun. You have to help around camp, one day you do flag, or a hopper(setting tables, getting food, and cleaning up) you have to clean your site. But you get to go on hikes, go to the lake, clime the rock climbing wall, and if you sign up for the right session you get to go caving. Camp is a tun of fun! weather you go with or with out a buddy.
