I loved my time at camp Arowhon! The activities were fun (all except swim in a freezing lake). My counselors have been amazing and I'm still in touch with my LIT 7 months later. However Mara is rude and disrespectful to the LITs and staff. I took off points from monetary value because of how much camp Arowhon costs.All and all I loved the camp and can't wait for the coming summer.

My son went to Camp Kilcoo for a year and hated it, but when he came home from Arowhon, he was borderline depressed because he missed camp so much! 11/10

Not great for staff but great for campers. Staff are required to go to 11pm meetings and are often kept until midnight. They are badly paid and urged to give it their all. Kindness, fair wages and decent labor practices are needed to make it good for more than just the campers.

My son was a first time camper this summer. He was signed up for 4 weeks. This summer he wants to go for the whole summer! There is not a day that goes by since he has been home that he does not reminisce about his time up at camp. Camp Arowhon comes highly recommended

I was SHOCKED that for a camp that "says" it focuses on building kids self-esteem and anti-bullying that the camps owner Joanna Kates would be so incredibly rude, dismissive and overall have such a lack of empathy when dealing with parents. She called me in regards to a discussion about a special needs camper and could not have cared less about my experiences, opinions and the needs of my own child. She showed no interest in having a calm two-way conversation and essentially lectured me in how to manage "kids with special needs" without even one question about what works in my household or trying to get to know my child as an individual. I was so disgusted with my experience and terrified to entrust someone so self-absorbed and heartless with my children. I would NEVER recommend this camp to anyone as long as this woman is setting the tone and direction for the camp.

Ok, its my 4th year going to Arowhon this summer and it is the most funnest camp EVER! I have made the best memories there, it was super! There are all kinds of super activities and the staff are SOOO nice and the food is really yummy! I tried Wapomeo or however you spell it, but it really was super boring and there was definetley not enough things to do at all. Arowhon is soooo fun that I just cannot explane how fun it is in words!!! Check out the website!! I LOVE THIS CAMP.

OMG this is the bestest camp in the world, i wouldn't go any were else. Memories are amazing. Activities are so much fun. Staff are so nice and welcomeing. I love it. I started to play gutar their and now i play at home. My best friends i met at this camp. Parents don't understand the actual expireinces that kids have so their comments mean nothing. I absolutly garentie you kids will have the greatest time of their lives. Oh and the food is amazing joanne kates is a food critic you no so we have the best food ever. Every week we have special events like circus day and those really rock!! oh ya canoe trip is probably one of the best parts i swear they are the bomb the 4 days goes by so quickly and you can go for longer ones to. We also have races in sailing and canoing. Oh and rumack who is head of surf is so awesome i love going their cuz he always makes funny jokes. You can get awards in different activities sand they get anouced to the whole camp. CAMP AROWHON IS THE BOMB.COM!!!!

Owner & director has a very bad temper, usually reserved for parents. She is very rude. Two other moms told me about this before I sent my child. They believed, though, that this was reserved for parents only. Clearly, the kids adore camp. However, my child's last summer at camp was a disaster due to this woman's temper. This kid was so traumatized that we were in counseling over it. I tried to talk to my child by phone when letters reflected discontent,but Kates won't let kids come to the phone. If I had known how bad the situation was, I would have called law enforcement to get my child to the phone. This occurred years ago. I am amazed that Google search does not show this issue.

My kids LOVE Camp Arowhon. My daughter has been a camper the past three summers. She hates to leave and can't wait to go back. My son was a camper there before working as a counselor the last two summers, so I have the inside scoop on how well the camp is run and how well the staff is trained. The safety and well-being of the campers (both inside and out) are the first priority. Pre-camp training for staff is thorough. Possible scenarios of camper life are role-played and discussed, with topics ranging from conflict resolution to homesickness. Bullying, however covert and subtle (which among girls is often the MO of choice) is not tolerated. Although land and lake sports are taught, there is a special emphasis on water safety. All staff is certified in life saving and every camper is required to attend swim classes until they earn their Bronze Medallion. I couldn't recommend it with more confidence. The kids have so much fun.

I remember my first day at Arowhon, I was so nervous,I only knew a few people. Luckily for me, the staff and campers were so nice and helped me fit right in. This will be my 6th consecutive summer at Arowhon. I keep going back because I have created strong friendships with the staff, campers and a sort of personal bond with Algonquin Park. The best part about Arowhon is that you really get into contact with nature and the camp is very respectful of its surroundings. All in all, I could never imagine going anywhere else... O, yea, Leon's Camp, Leon's Camp ;P

It's a super good camp '06 summer 2nd session was the best! The only problem is that it's a month long which can be long for SOME people, but not me :)

This is the most amazing camp ever. I've never met one not noce person their. The activities are awesome. The food is pretty good as camp food goes. I can't wait to go back next summer. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else in the summer. AROWHON IS THE BEST CAMP EVER! YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY GO THERE!

This is probably one of the better camps around. Their counsellors are all ether former campers, or VERY qualified University or Grad School students, even teachers! Great Camp for new campers as everyone is SUPER CARING!

Beautiful camp location and facilities. Highly recommended for campers. Staff though are snobs and the director Joanne is a total control freak who will drive you insane. Not a problem if you are a camper but if you want to join as a new staff member you better leave your self respect at home. New staff won't fit in unless you kiss a$$ for a few years.

I Enjoy Every second i spend up at arowhon. i feel safe and looked after. The food is average even though the director is a food critic. Overall Arowhon is the Best!!!

I went for 2 years for a month each and loved it.. The only reason I left was the price!! For that price I could almost buy a car!!!! It was ridiculous!! The activities were amazing and so were the staff and the food but not worth a cars price!!!

The staff are extensively trained (trust me, I am one) and they are constant check-ins with their supervisors. I had to take off a point for the Monetary Value just because the camp is so ridiculously expensive. The activities are taught by highly-skilled instructors who ACTUALLY know what they're doing (unlike Camp Tamarack, which I went to as a camper before I came to Arowhon). The activities are structured so that campers can learn new skills and train to improve these skills, and campers can receive awards for reaching certain skill levels. Also, Arowhon is a safe environment and is a great place for kids to both grow and have fun. I met some of my best friends at Arowhon, and I personally think that it's the best camp out there.
