Camp Pennbrook changed my life! I created such close bonds with so many of the counselors and campers, many of whom I still speak to regularly! The staff always made me feel safe, loved, and valued! The facilities are beautiful and extremely safe! The food is also so good! The activities were always so fun, and I always loved that I had the ability to play and be active without fear of being judged. Camp Pennbrook taught me how to be confident, and it is something that was noticeable when I left camp! So many people noticed that I was more confident and overall more happy after the summers I spent at Camp Pennbrook! I am so grateful for all of the staff, campers, and Camp Pennbrook for all they have done for me!

Camp Pennbrook changed my daughters whole attitude. Not only does she look better but she feels better on the inside. If you’re looking for a camp that will have your child rethinking their health and overall well being this is the place for you. Thank you Camp Pennbrook for giving me my sweet girl back!

Attended this camp as a teen and I’m sorry it’s still active. It was my first time away from my parents, I was painfully home sick and would cry often and beg to call my parents (they had a policy that no phone calls for the 1st week). The director told me at one point while having breakfast that the only way I would be leaving the camp was via hospital with tubes up my nose. I was 14. I am now 38 and I’m still haunted by this. The other campers were sweet and one counselor at the time was wonderful but it was a traumatizing experience overall.

I attended Camp Pennbrook for two years as a camper and came back years later to be a counselor. During my first year as a camper, I was initially homesick from never having been to a sleepaway camp before, but by the end of the summer, I didn't want to go home. Camp allowed me to form close friendships with other girls who I stayed in contact with after the summer, provided me with great knowledge about healthy habits that I could take home with me, and the program helped a lot with my confidence. Aside from the support I got throughout the summer, camp was also so much fun. I looked forward to all of our activities throughout the day and to the cool events and trips we had. My camp experience impacted me tremendously, which is why I came back as a counselor with the goal of providing that same experience to my campers.

Parents beware! Don't make the mistake we did by sending your daughter to this camp. We signed her up for 5 weeks and brought her home after 1. There was a total lack of supervision. Someone affiliated with the camp took pictures of the girls in their underwear (without parental permission). No one could tell me where those pictures ended up. No one could assure me that the middle-aged male director of the camp did not have access to these pictures. There was bullying by a girl with pink eye who walked around cursing at everyone and who rubbed her hands in her eyes and then the eyes of other campers. My daughter came home with a terrible case of pink eye and was traumatized. So much so, she won't even consider another overnight camp. I just can't emphasize enough that you should take the $$ you spend for this camp and hired a nutritionist/dietician and help your daughter at home. We did and she has already lost 30 lbs without being mistreated, infected, or having her body exposed

I just signed up my daughter for her second summer. She had a wonderful experience. At first she was a homesick but we figured it was normal since it was her first time away. After the first week she was in great spirits and enjoying her time, she even extended an additional week.

I've been attending this camp for many years, now I am a counselor. I have enjoyed it and learned many things about how to take care of myself and feel confident. This place is my second home and I come back every year.

Being a camper here definitely gave me a boost in confidence and helped me feel comfortable with myself and feel comfortable around others. This camp is like a second home where you develop a bond not just with campers but with the counselors as well and it just keeps making you want to come back every summer. I was able to gain skills from this camp that I would not have gained from being in school. Camp Pennbrook has become my home and I will always keep coming back.

As someone who transitioned from a camper, to a counselor, to someone who worked in the front office, I can confidently say this camp is a transformational, motivational, exciting and fun learning experience. Not only are campers taught healthy ways to eat, they are taught ways to realistically apply them in their every day life. Campers receive personal attention, fun and interactive classes, as well as an opportunity to achieve a common goal, to lose weight. Not to mention the trips to Broadway musicals, theme parks, and concerts!

Camp Pennbrook is a great experience for girls if they are willing to put in the work and if they want to be there. Some campers are forced by their parents and their experiences arent 100%accurate. This camp is great and a safe environment to make friends and improve your health

0 stars !! I sent my stepdaughter for summer camp. It was extremely pricey so I thought you get what you paid for. But it was the worse for the price we paid for. The staff and management did not address any issues my daughter had or even ignored our calls and emails. This was a really bad experience.

I have been going to camp every summer since I was 9 years old and I am now 18. And this summer I will be returning as a councilor. Camp has done so much for me that I am beyond grateful for. It has made me more confident and positive. It also helped give me guidance in life, it helped me realize what I want to do. I’m going to go to college to be a nutritionist and I’m becoming a personal trainer. Camp is where I’ve met my best friends for life. Some people at camp can be judgmental and cliquey but that is expected from a all girls camp. But the majority of the people are not, everyone has the best interest of everyone at heart. Camp is mine and many others safe haven.

I went to Camp Pennbrook as a camper and then later returned a few years ago as a counselor. As a whole I would say that camp changed my life for the better. I meet some amazing people over my years here who have grown to be my best friends. Most of the staff have been campers themselves so they understand what it's like for your kid and how hard it is to lose weight or to be in a weight loss camp setting. The facilities at the George School are wonderful; air conditioned rooms, only 2 girls to a room and clean communal bathrooms that are clean every week day. In terms of the work outs, they range in difficulty depending on the age group but ultimately they challenge the girls to push themselves. As a whole, Camp Pennbrook is a home for me where I know I can fully be myself. The people who come back year after year are amazing individuals that strive to make each girls experience at camp good.

My 10 year old daughter attended Pennbrook last summer and had a blast! She loved all the counselors and activities, the facilities are all fantastic, and she had no complaints about the food (except for the lack of salt for her eggs). It's an all-girls camp, so there's bound to be some clique-forming going on, and gossip is probably inevitable, but she didn't experience any negativity at all, socially, and is looking forward to going back this summer. She had fun staying active with her new friends (there are a TON of trips/activities that are not weight-loss related- this is a FUN camp) learned a lot about avoiding diet trends and eating mindfully. Overall we were both very pleased with the camp and the staff.

I sent my 13-year old bookish, mildly overweight, socially anxious daughter to Camp Pennbrook in June 2016, and three weeks later I got back a confident, adventurous teenager who had become comfortable in her own skin. My daughter lost about 6 pounds during her stay, and gained a spirit of adventure and a willingness to step outside of her comfort zone. For example, she took a few tennis lessons at Camp Pennbrook, enjoyed the game, continued lessons after arriving home, and with a little encouragement from her home tennis instructor, ended up trying out for her school's Middle School tennis team (and even made the team!). Since returning from Camp Pennbrook, she now reads food labels closely and chooses foods based on their nutrition content and calorie count. She said to me a few weeks ago, "I finally figured out the balance between exercise and eating.": This is a direct result of the teaching at Camp Pennbrook. Camp Pennbrook is truly one of the best investments I've ever made.

I went to camp pennbook as a camper and was a junior counselor and then again as a counselor. The girls were rude and bullied me. When I called my parents they were very upset and they called Flip and the head counselor and they both said this was not happening but they were not there to witness this. Also the director said 80% of us would end up with eating disorders. This place is a breaking ground for eating disorders. I ended up in treatment for four years. Be careful

2nd and final summer. Very disappointed in the staff this summer, the staff was VERY immature about very serious camper conditions. And talked cramp BEHIND campers back. I guess the didn't realize I was there? Which is not professional at all. I DON'T recommend this camp.. all the girls and campers are in their own cliques and make it well obvious that your not welcomed. THE END.

Do not listen to anything the negative people below are saying... I will be returning to camp for my fourth summer this upcoming summer, this place is a blessing. It is my safe haven, all I look forward to throughout the year is camp and I still see and talk to my friends from there every single day and they're the light of my life at this point. Flip is a wonderful man with no harmful intentions in any way, he is generously giving his time and money into these girls. I have nothing bad to say about Camp Pennbrook, It's a beautiful, safe, loving environment and I have never met a girl who didn't have any friends.I highly suggest it. All of the negative comments complain about the workload, but it's a weight-loss camp, it wont work if you don't work your hardest; plus, if someone is not athletic, there are plenty of activities to fit their desires!!! I absolutely love this place, highly suggest it.

This crappy place is still opened? I wasn't a camper, but the theatre instructor and counselor back in 2008. If you worked half the program and then left, there wasn't a prorated rate, you pretty much forfeited the pay that u had already earned. My roommate's car was stolen from camp. Flip did nothing to assist her. Instead, Flip withheld her pay for not completing the program and she had no money to get home! Heartless!
I would NEVER send my kids here. The camp did not have any locks on thebedroom/dorm doors. Belongings were stolen and not replaced by the camp.
Younger kids are not permitted to call parents to say they want to go home. Some younger campers experienced extreme bullying, overheated rooms w/no air conditioning, and deplorable dirty conditions. We were told explicitly by Flip himself to "keep them away from the phones." If they hurt themselves, Flip would make the call himself & minimize the injury to prevent the child from telling her parents that what was going on.

My daughter is now attending for her fourth year and has lost significant, but healthy weight each year. This is not an easy camp as there are constant activities and less electronics so if the kids are not on board, they will be miserable, which probably explains the bad reviews. My daughter has a bad knee and it acted up last year and she went to the nurse and then urgent care and we were called. Health is not ignored. My daughter can go to the nurse anytime. Her money has never been stolen, no valuables were taken and if it gets too hot, the girls are taken to the beach or sleep in the main activity room. From age 14 on, the dorms have a/c. My daughter loves the food and the trips. This is not a resort camp - its an intense activity camp but if your daughter is committed and wants to lose weight and change her lifestyle, she will love it there.

please, please, please do NOT send your kid here. I went here last summer and it was without a doubt the WORST summer and experience of my life. The rooms are small and UN-AIRCONDITIONED. The showers are so so so small and dirty, the counselors DO NOT care about you at all! All i did was cry the whole time and the counselors would yell at me for crying. They don't care if you feel like you're going to pass out or need more water. They'll just ignore you and go on their phone. You cannot use your phone the first week so you cannot contact your parents for an entire week, and once you do get to use your phone - for an hour, of less if the counselors are feeling annoyed that day- they tell you to not tell your parents if you didn't like it. I was constantly home sick and crying. The kids at this camp are spoiled rich kids who make fun of other kids and steal. The guy who runs the camp-Flip- is a con artist who does not care about you or your kid - just your money.

Camp Pennbrook was a really good experience for my daughter. She went for 4 weeks and lost 16 pounds. She enjoyed her time and admits its hard but she expected that. Some of these reviews I find very unfair. If your daughter is not ready or on board for it dont send her because most likely her experience and yours will not be a good one hence the bad reviews.

Camppenbrook is not worth your money , pls look another camp,do not waste your money in this horrible place ,were the staff is careless and rude , they even curse . Your money and clothes will be stolen , I was left to sleep on A box spring without a mattress , for 3 nights , which hurt my back. I told the councils who promised to take care of it and nothing was done for 3 nights. I could not complain to my parents cause we were not allowed to use our phones. Food was under cooked or dry so I guess this how you loose weight. Keep reading the bad reviews they are the honest ones , The good reviews are probably written by the councils, or who ever. finally if you'r deceived by the open house scene which is totally fake, and decided to enroll despite of reading the horrible reviews, then my advice to you is to pay one or 2 weeks in the beginning , instead of a big lump , which some parents did ,and lost because it of the zero refund policy so

If you want to lose weight then yea you could go here.. If you also wanna be ignored made fun of and treated horribly then yes go here! I attended for 4 weeks but had an AWFUL time. They told all us girls "if you're homesick or hurt don't tell your parents" I will not be going back. Several girls were injured and NOT being treated properly. I had many issues with my roommates - my first day they said to tell them if I did so I did and nothing was done about it. Beds suck and air conditioning never worked when I was there. Bottom line, find another camp it's not worth your money.

this is the third year i have attended camp pennbrook. ive lost over 30 pounds and return yearly not to continue to lose weight, but to maintain and see my friends. camp allows me a scond home and comfort that i dont find in school. the campers and counselors understand what its like to be over weight and related better then any other camp ive ever been to. i love that we take trips everywhere and is more realistic then the other camps i looked in to.

DO NOT GO TO PENNBROOK! THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE! The staff does not care about the campers at all! The owner Flip is a con artist. I was being bullied for no reason, and sometimes even the counselors would join the campers in the teasing. I had money stolen from me and other items and they found it in another girls room, but did nothing about it! I was tormented so much I was diagnosed with clinical anxiety and depression. The camp is NOT a "safe place" for girls with self image issues. At times its worse. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS CAMP! SAVE YOUR MONEY!

Pennbrook was a horrible experience. Although I HAD lost 22 pounds, the staff really ruined everything. There were only 2 counselors that seemed to care about the girls. I had a horrible ear infection, and it came about 3 days before I was going home. I had asked the head counselor if I could go to the nurse, and she sarcastically said "wait till you get home" since I was extremely homesick. When I got home to a doctor, my ear was full of blood and puss. A couple of months later, I had gotten forms for the next summer sign up and part of what one of the directors said was "you'll love how we treat our second year campers". Shouldn't we all be treated the same? If you are looking for a weight loss camp, I believe Pennbrook is NOT the way to go.

This is such a great camp. I will be going back for my third year and am so excited. The staff got a 4 out of 5 because some can have attitued, but at the end of the day they pushed you to reach your best and did not let you quit. Facilities are great. Two to a bedroom and bathroom. Maids clean everyday. Activities are great and you get a free choice period to choose what you'd like to do. There is also private tennis lessons and personal training. The trips are the best! I have met so many of my best friends at this camp and it has changes my life! Go to Camp Pennbrook!!!

Camp Pennbrook honestly changed my life. I lost about 18.5 pounds in 4 weeks and continued to loose it at home. I have gained some weight back, but I get monthly calls from the amazing directors and tips and newsletters. The friends that I have made here have changed into my sisters. I have never had such support. There are amazing trips and although u dont always like exercising, you get the laugh hysterically with your friends when you cant do something. I never once in my time being at CPB was hunry. The food is amazing and I am planning on going in 2007. It has changed my outlook on life and I am so much more pleasent because I can fit into things I couldn't even imagine. I highly recomend CPB because you are friends with most people, their are no cliques and u are friends with people who are 7 and 21. GO TO CPB !
