Click to report rating    5/18/24   1     1     2     2     1   Words summers of my life. Staff were ignorant of needs, pushy, and overall not supportive. The structure of morals and way of life is completely outdated. For a camp that pushes feminism and gender equality, the way of living within your time there does completely the opposite. RID: 54009
Click to report rating    7/20/19   5     5     5     5     5   Absolutely LOVE camp Fleur de Lis!!! It's my daughter's happy place. This is her 5th year and now she is a CT (counselor in training). When she started camp 5 years ago she could barely swim and now she's a lifeguard and the waterfront/lake is her favorite place to be! She has made wonderful friends, loves the counselors and activities - she would stay all year if she could! We wouldn't change a thing! Great balance of activities and relaxation with friends. Feel so lucky to have found Fleur de Lis! A very special place. RID: 52751

Click to report rating    2/27/17   5     5     5     5     5   The staff is super trained in every activity and really attentive because they have so many compared to other camps. The facilities are definitely rustic but are well-kept and historic. They also offer a ton of activities and are focused on community and friendships which is so good! RID: 50497
Click to report rating    10/25/16   3     3     2     3     5   Meh.. the only reason I gave it a 5 for monetary value is because it's pretty cheap. However, the facilities are mediocre. They don't tell you that you'll be required to swim in a freezing cold lake every day and most of the water front activities are only available to people who are at the top swimming levels. Most of the staff is nice, but they seemed to get a bit sick of the kids. RID: 50199
Click to report rating    6/14/13   5     5     5     5     5   I have been going to this camp since I was 9. I've convinced family and some friends to go her and they all love it! So many people come back year after year, keeping traditions alive, but the new people each effect and change camp in their own way. Each year I go, I love it more and more and each year it gets harder to leave the incredible bonds made here. Keep in mind that campers do have to go for at least 3 weeks after their first year and while most campers go for longer, this long of a time (that doesn't seem long while you're there) is not for everyone. The only two complaints I've ever heard is that people get homesick (which usually goes away after the first week) and one girl did not like the fact that we have responsibility and "chores." For most campers, the "chores" become an easy part of the day; things like making your bed, cleaning your tent/cabin, helping out in the dish room or setting tables. I LOVE THIS CAMP! SEND YOUR KIDS HERE! RID: 44766
Click to report rating    3/2/13   5     5     5     5     4   My daughter lives for month every summer at FDL. When she is having trouble at school, she just counts the days until camp. My nieces went here for many years also, and LOVED it. Laurel Lake is beautiful, a many activities are centered around the lake. Other activities are also offered. Lots of tradition and singing. Costs are high ($1,000/wk), esp. compared to Y camps, but lower than some comparable private camps in New England. Staff is great. Facilities are rustic, but isn't that the way camp should be? My daughter loves the food. I feel that there is a bit too much sugar around, but they do get a lot of exercise. And I love that my daughter is "unplugged" all summer. RID: 43862
Click to report rating    1/9/13   5     5     5     5     5   this summer is my 5th year and the past 4 were the best summers of my life! now if your kid does not like FDL it's is probably because they are not adjusted to be away from yet. so if your daughter complain thats means she wasnt ready RID: 43350
Click to report rating    12/8/12   5     5     5     5     5   I love this camp!! It's amazing and has made me a better person. Some of my best friends are from camp. RID: 43182
Click to report rating    6/12/12   1     1     1     1     1   Fleur de Lis is definitely not worth the money. If you send your daughter here, she will come home rude and snobby. The girls were very mean to me and not welcoming at all. I hated my summer here. RID: 41281
Click to report rating    6/12/12   4     3     4     4     5   Spent a good length of time here. Staff is generally caring, knowledgeable and can relate since many were former campers. Tradition is VERY important here. Staff cliques and favorite campers are apparent. Facilities are meh but its summer camp, it doesn't take away from the value of the camp. Diversity is a joke. Generally families of upper to upper middle class white families. Amazing dock and waterfront. Camp revolves around the waterfront. That and the rifle range. Campers are expected to take care of camp too with chores as well as clean and maintain tent/cabin. Younger kids in cabins, the older in canvas platform tents. Great friendships do emerge! Tradition tradition tradition. Great value for your money compared to comparable camps and experiences. RID: 41272

9/25/11   1     1     1     1     1   Fleur de Lis is awful. You live in stinky tents and all the girls are snobby and rude. They throw girls into the swamp! The counselors are rude and dont help campers. The food is the only good thing. Hated this camp. RID: 36976

Click to report rating    2/8/11   5     5     5     5     5   Fleur de Lis will change your life. It's clear from these reviews that people grow over their summers at FdL and the girls become a family, often growing up together from age 8 through their 20's. I went to camp for nine summers and it made me who I am today. The people at Fleur de Lis are exceptional, diverse and compassionate people. They encourage and challenge each other to be the best they can be, teaching each other self acceptance and creativity and empathy from a very young age. Girls develop an indescribable bond over these summers that help them throughout the rest of their lives, whether they are learning to share a room in college, mentoring a younger child, speaking with adults, or learning a new skill. The confidence, self awareness, and sense of community at Fleur de Lis are unrivaled and I don't know any other friends from home who have been so affected by an institution as I was by FdL.  2/23/10   5     5     5     5     5   This camp is fantastic! I went for 13 years - from camper to counselor - and still count my Fleur de Lis friends as amongst my very closest friends. I will forever cherish my years at FdL. The rustic facilities are not posh - but they are more than adequate. The best thing about FdL are the people. The staff are incredibly supportive of each camper and as a result the FdL community is one that fosters trust and support for each camper and staff member to achieve their individual goals while having loads of carefree fun and living, eating, learning and playing together.  2/22/10   5     5     5     5     5   The camp fosters creative and independent spirits in a healthy and active environment. There is no better place for a growing girl to spend her summer. Here, in the outdoors, amidst of a community of exceptional personalities, the experience is invaluable. The friendships I made at Fleur de Lis, years ago, remain my most cherished. RID: 32230

4/17/09   5     5     5     5     5   This is a camp that knows how to do it right. The staff is committed, fun, and caring. The facilities are more than adequate, yet not "country club", it offers activities for everyone, everyone is a valued member of the camp family, and the experience is priceless. RID: 29506
Click to report rating    9/28/08   5     5     5     5     5   I spent my first summer at this camp in 2008. I was SO glad I went. My cabin-mates will be my best friends for life, and the staff was fabulous. I love living in the platform tents, and the activities were super fun. I miss this cam pa ton, and I think about it every day. I'll be going back next year! My favorite part is how we always sing songs. RID: 26772
Click to report rating    9/5/08   5     5     5     5     5   This is the best summer getaway EVER! I spent 14 summers at FDL, starting in the youngest age group and all the way up to serving on the administrative staff. Send your daughters and grand-daughters! Life long friendships and wonderful memories... you can beat FDL! RID: 26349
Click to report rating    6/26/08   5     5     5     5     5   Fleur de lis is the most amazing place on earth. I attended for 8 summers, 1968-1975. My daughter will start next summer, she is 10. I know she will love it as much as I did. It will celebrate 80 years in 2009. Send your daughter, you will be so happy you did! RID: 24311
Click to report rating    6/13/08   5     5     5     5     5   The people who gave this place such bad ratings have got to be kidding themselves. I bet they haven't even gone! I love this camp so much; it's my home away from home. The counselors are wonderful, the food is great, the activities are a blast, and the friendships are the best I've ever made. I love this camp so much. Girls have got to go, and parents, you'll be so glad you sent them! RID: 23809

Click to report rating    12/10/06   5     5     5     5     5   I went to this camp for 10 years when I was growing up. It was the best decision I ever made to keep going back. My best friends in life are the people that I met during those 10 summers. This past summer I sent my children there for the first time. They absolutely adored it and came home counting down the days until they could go back. It is definitely a great camp for girls to attend. RID: 5855
