Click to report rating    3/24/25   5     5     5     5     5   Camp Green Lane is the best thing that has ever happened to me. All I do during the school year is wish I was at my summer home away from home. I will be entering my fourth year this summer and I'm beyond excited. this year is gonna be the best one yet I can feel it. my heart and soul belong between the arches and life always gets better at Camp Green Lane. Click to report rating    9/2/22   1     1     1     1     1   My son spent four weeks at the program. He wrote me a letter in the mail claiming to have been punched. When I spoke with the divisional director, she informed me that there were troubled kids in the bunk—not my own—and that a solution was being worked on. I persevered, and while they were both present, I questioned the camp's owners. Boys will be boys was the response from one, while the other told me that it was essentially all my child's responsibility because he was displeased I was raising concerns about the circumstance. Since then, I've learned that my son wasn't the only one who had issues. This camp is not something I advise. RID: 53610

3/25/16   5     2     4     4     1   This review is because we sent our twins to this camp last summer 2015 and put a deposit of $1500.00 down for this summer 2016. We found out in January we would not be able to afford camp this year.We told them in January. They told us the cut off to back out is December, which we had not read the fine print anywhere since we signed up at visiting day last year in a tent, where they took your check and looked on the computer for your child's name and that's it. I signed a paper on the clipboard which was a permission to register them again. I did not read it, they said just sign here. There were no signs posted about them keeping your ENTIRE deposit if you cancelled after December. $1500.00 is a lot of money to keep. We are 61 years old. We would never send our kids back because the owners are dishonest. There was 6 months to go when we cancelled before camp even starts. RID: 49495

1/2/16   5     5     4     5     4   camp green lane is the world to me. I've been a camper for 10 years. All of those comments below with nock a mixion and Kwebec, are all comments of campers from there camp, and wouldn't know better. The facultie and green lane were so loving and caring, and I trust all of them very much. If I had a problem, I would go to them and know that they would help me. The relationships with the were amazing. They treat everyone with respect, and would do anything for us. The activities at green lane is amazing. The lake is not a fake filtered lake, like u would find at nock-a-Mixon, with the air condition cabins(not much of a camp). In any real lake , you would expect mud. It's not much of a lake if it isn't.... And I never complained about the food. It's not a 5 star restaurant qualities food, but it's better than the food from many other camps , such a kwebeec, that has flies in the tunas r wouldn't care for real garlic bread, but for cold stale hamburger buns drenched in garlic.  7/24/15   3     2     3     3     3   It is important to know what you're getting here. I sent my son here for two years on the recommendation of a close friend. The lake on the website is not the lake at the camp. The lake at the camp is more of a mud filled pond. It is really also advertising. The food is simply bad. Lots of unhealthy, fried food. It was tiring hearing my son, who often doesn't care what he eats, complain about the food. Thete have been some good counselors but we have also had counselors who were to immature to even acknowledge us on visiting Day. It was as if they didn't know how to talk to adults. My son certainly had some good times here or else we wouldn't have sent him back for the second year but by that second year even he, at age ten, knew there had to be better places. We ended up sending him to a camp with much more choice, better trained counselors, and much nicer facilities RID: 48924

2/18/15   5     5     5     5     5   The counselors are beyond amazing. They talk to you about anything you want to tell them and are always there to listen to you and make your day better! All the staff have such kind hearts. The owners Adam and Jay are amazing. They met there wives at Green Lane as kids and now own the camp together. The memories I have made at Green Lane and friendships do not compare to anything else in the world. I would do anything to give all you the same experience as me. Green Lane is the right choice. The cabins are so cute and they just redid all the bathrooms! The activities are so fun! There is carnivals and dances and Olympic games! They are always getting us campers involved in something! Take my word for it I have went here since I was 8 until I was 24 I love this place thats why I am telling you this so you consider making Green Lane your summer home. your kids will become obsesed with Green Lane and never want to leave! The campus is very nice, the bad reviews make up that it is dirty! RID: 48428

1/17/15   1     2     3     3     3   Last fall (2013) I signed my daughter up for the trial weekend camp in summer (2014). IN the spring we took a drive to the camp so my daughter could see it firsthand. Afterwards my child didn't want to go. I asked for a partial refund since I paid in advance for the weekend. The office didn't help me. They referred me to Adam, the camp director. I called Adam and he never returned my call. I waited two weeks and called him again. Again he never returned my call. In the end I had to call my credit card company to get my money refunded. I don't call them often and I had a case so I got my money refunded. For a camp with religious values it's sad when the head of the camp pockets your money. My child and I felt the facilities looked a little old and tired. It worked out for the best that she didn't attend. RID: 48295

Click to report rating    4/10/12   5     5     5     5     5   BEST CAMP IN THE WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD! i have been going there for 6 years and its all i think about! i have created the best friends in the world there! dont listen to what people may say about about. they are not true! camp isn't about having nice cabins its about creating the best memories and friends. there is not one bad thing i can say about this camp. all these bad reviews are false! our camp is a family. everyone is excepted and loved. i dont know about every cabin but my cabin is like a love fest. we couldnt live without eachother and count the seconds till we are reunited. cant even explain how much i love this place<3 RID: 40752
Click to report rating    3/22/12   4     4     5     4     5   Mark my word...this will be the best camp in a few years (I started when I was 11...went through for a few years as a counselor). Now that two young lifers bought the camp (Adam & Jay), their youth will make this into the best camp in the area. Some of the comments on here, are people just trying to belittle a great place...and things that are said are not true. They've just redone some of the bathrooms, and I'm sure they will be fixing the whole camp up over the next few years. The previous owner let things slip (including enrollment)...but camp has the vibe that it is going to be an awesome place. Trust me...if you want to stay within an hour of philly...this is BY FAR your best choice! RID: 40596
Click to report rating    3/14/12   1     1     1     1     1   I had the worst time at Green lane!! It was gross and there was trash everywhere!! There was dirty tampons and condoms on the fields. Little kids were going to the blacktop to go hookup, which i find disgusting. I hate it there. I didn't fit in with my bunk and it was just a horrible experience. Im going to tour Camp Kweebec which i heard was a great camp and I'm very excited for my new camp. RID: 40532
Click to report rating    3/8/12   5     4     5     5     5   i have been going to green lane for 6 years going on 7 and i can honestly say it is my favorite place in the world there is no where else like it i went to other camps before here and they were soo different. camp green lane is like one big family every one is nice and loving. i met my best friends here and im soo happy i can go there every summer .CAMP FRIENDS ARE FOREVER <3 RID: 40477
Click to report rating    3/8/12   5     5     5     5     5   i have been going to CGL for 5 going on 6 years now and it was the best decision i have ever made. Not only did I meet new and amazing friends, I also learned things about myself that I probably couldn't of done without this place. For instance, I found the courage to sing in front of the entire camp. I would not of been able to do so without my camp FAMILY. Because of them i am trying out for new things like americas got talent... Most of all, at cgl we are one big family which is why the staff has aunt or uncle in front of their name. for example, Uncle Mel. I could go on forever about this. Its not just a camp it's my second home. RID: 40476
3/7/12   1     1     1     1     1   Poorly trained and supervised counsellors plus a scary and absolutely controlling owner (Mel). Not a good experience at all. RID: 40468

10/30/11   5     5     5     5     5   My son has been attending CGL for 3 years. It has been an absolutely fantastic experience for him in every way. He has found a place to be himself and be accepted for who he is. He doesn't need to modify his personality to fall into a group. Most of the counselors are previous campers. Almost all of the upper staff are also previous CGL campers. The administration is excellent and runs a great program. The size of the camp is perfect. Your child will be known by name. I highly recommend this camp to anyone looking for an overnight camp. It will become a second family for your child. RID: 37179

12/6/10   5     4     4     5     5   Now that i am 16 and i look back at all of my 7 summers spent within the arches i can truly say that green lane isn't like other camps. yes the facilities may be not the greatest, but the atmosphere and the spirit within prove to you one of the golden lessons in life that everything you have may be the best, you may not be living in the "nicest" place in the world, but its the people you spend it with that makes it fulfilling. i dont go a day without sending a text to one of my camp friends or writing in our facebook "thread". these girls are my sisters and i would do anything for them. green lane teaches you lessons like that. especially at friday night services when Mel gives you a key lesson speech each time, when you go back to your cabin all you want to do is snuggle with each camp friend and tell them how much they mean to you. though i wont be back this summer because i need to do things for college, i will alway think about green lane. it is my home and it will forever be. <3 RID: 34548
Click to report rating    10/31/10   5     5     5     5     5   Camp Green Lane has taught me to be someone special. It has influenced my life heavily, in a sense where I'm a much better listener and I can relate to many other kids. Although you wouldn't say this is the "nicest" camp in facilities, food, etc. the overall camp experience is amazing. The people, counselors, friends, etc. are the best thing that I have ever experienced. Camp changed me as a person, especially Green Lane. If you are reading this right now, I definitely recommend you taking a tour during the summer to see everyone having fun! I am obsessed with camp and thats all I think about. My camp friends are my best friends and no one could ever replace them. I love camp green lane, and I hope you soon love it as well. RID: 34338
9/5/10   2     3     3     1     3   I started at CGL when I was really young and it used to be the most magical place in the world, but in the past few years it has gone down hill. Mel only cares about money, the counselors only care about themselves and their favorite campers. Also, the counselors partake in dangerous and illegal activities that could put the children in danger. Cabins are moldy and dirty no matter how much you clean. Staff is treated like crap by Mel. Jon is great, the camp would be so much better if he owned it. RID: 33988
Click to report rating    8/23/10   1     1     1     1     1   I went here years ago. My counselor was one of Mel's relatives and as such felt she was above having to do her job. She gave her favorite campers special treatment. I remember one girl in our bunk didn't like the camp and went home, and parent was coming on a tour-so we put sheets on her empty bed and decorated it with stuffed animals, which I consider a pretty dishonest thing to be teaching kids. One boy in another bunk was badly injured by broken glass from a dart thrown by his counselor that shattered a light bulb above his head. I saw them carrying him to the infirmary-an image imprinted in my mind to this day, he was covered in blood. Some personal items of mine were stolen by other campers in my bunk and put outside where they were ruined, some were not returned at all, which greatly upset me. The reaction from my camp counselor and Mel was just "oh well, it happens" rather than an actual attempt to find who had done this or even to talk to the bunk and say "this is not ac RID: 33847
Click to report rating    11/25/09   1     2     5     1     4   I went to CGL for the first time last summer. I can honestly say i didnt have the best time. The girls in my bunk were extremely cliquey and mean when together. but indivisually, were great girls. When I was homesick my counsler saw me crying and said, quote,"I dont care, I'm going to bed." But I'm definatley not saying ALL counslers are bad. So I say that if you are going to send your child to camp greenlane, send them atleast under 10. RID: 31620

Click to report rating    11/25/07   4     4     5     5     5   Great value for the money. Senior staff are fabulous and the bad counselors get weeded out quickly and sent home. Not fancy, just fun. RID: 17429
Click to report rating    10/1/07   5     4     5     5     5   I was at CGL from 1988 to 2000. I can assure you that this is a magical place. The people are fantastic and the memories are even better. This is a great bang for the buck camp where children always come first. You'll never meet a better bunch of people who will certainly become a part of your family. RID: 15726

Everything from color war right down to clean-up is fun! Once you get to know your bunkmates, let the good times roll. I have never had a doubt in my mind that greenlane isnt the best place on earth!      10/14/06   2     3     3     3     2   The owner Mel is very controlling, sometimes scary. Way too much emphasis on sport, structure and planning of days is way over the top. RID: 4013
Click to report rating    7/31/06   5     5     5     5     5   I just signed up for Summer 2007. When I went on the tour, I thought it was AMAZING. Everything there looks like fun. The owner, Mel, is sooooo nice and so is all the staff. The kids in the bunk looked very happy. It is a very down to earth camp, it is all about the kids having fun. It is not expensive, which makes my parents happy. Colorwar last a whole week. There is also a carnival, Olympics, Halloween, and other fun things. I KNOW I WILL LOVE GREEN LANE. RID: 1704
