Click to report rating    10/14/17   5     5     5     5     4   Our child attended for the first time last year and immediately felt like it was home. She is counting the days until camp starts again. We felt very well informed about camp and had any concerns or questions addressed within hours. Our younger child will also be attending for the first time this summer. We highly recommend it. RID: 51421
Click to report rating    4/28/17   5     5     5     5     5   I heard about this site from a friend of mine who was looking for a camp for her son. I am shocked to read some of the things that people have written. They clearly have not been at camp recently. Last year was my son's first year at camp and the camp is beautiful. The facilities clearly have been upgraded. Yes, there lake is not huge, but my son is there to play sports and do what activities he wants, not what he is forced to do. Communication has always been nothing but great. I speak with Odie and Elliott and they are always responsive, understanding and genuinely care about what I have to say. Same day response 100% of the time. I recommend this camp to all of my friends. RID: 50668
Click to report rating    12/2/16   5     5     5     5     5   My child has enjoyed Camp Lindenmere for the past 6 summers and can't wait to return again this summer as an LT. She has made so many great friends from all over the world and I know she will keep them forever. There are so many great activities for everyone to try and the staff is amazing. They watch out for the children but make sure they are having the best summer of their life. Camp Lindenmere is a great place and everyone should send their kids there. RID: 50276
Click to report rating    8/20/16   4     3     2     4     5   Decent camp with a very friendly, caring, and close-knit environment. From my experience there throughout the last five years, I found the bunks to be exceptional by camp standards, the food to be better than that of most camps, and the counselors to be responsible and friendly. However, the facilities are just okay (Lots of sports fields and nice buildings, but a small campus with no real lakefront) while the 'choose your own activities' philosophy is flawed, and most kids above the age of 13 just choose to ditch many of their activities and chill. Also, while friends from more expensive camps bragged about trips across the nation, Lindenmere has no overnight trips. It's slightly lower (But not low) cost than most traditional camps gives it value while attracting less spoiled kids, but forces them to cut some corners. While I enjoyed my time there, I would have enjoyed it more if the athletic instruction was up to most camp's standards. Overall, good but not great. RID: 49985

7/20/15   5     5     5     5     5   Choosing a camp ranks up there with finding a college, all the research and recommendations does not guarantee it will be the right fit for your child. I learned this last summer when I choose the “wrong” camp. From the time I contacted Lindenmere, and spoke to Dani, she put my mind at ease, and I was confident my son was going to have quite a memorable summer. What I liked best was the camper gets to select their own schedule based on their own personal preferences. The activities are so diverse: horseback riding, go carting, trapeze, the list is endless. The food is absolutely scrumptious, and the daily blogs keep you posted about events. The staff and division leaders are both professional and attentive, addressing all my concerns. Seeing my son’s smiling face everyday in photos is proof that this camp exceeded all of our expectations. Further confirmation is that my son, was was enrolled for three weeks, requested to stay another session because he absolutely loves it. Sign up! RID: 48900

8/1/14   5     5     5     5     5   Camp Lindenmere has been home to my kids for many summers. This place has transformed my kids. They are better people because of the camp, its owners, its counselors and leadership. They are always responsive to any issues that my kids have and are there to help always. My kids cannot stop raving about the food, the activities and their counselors. They absolutely love it! I would highly recommend Camp Lindenmere! RID: 47748

7/23/14   1     2     1     2     1   The camp is run by management that do not understand the meaning of customer service. Our child went to the camp for several years Lack of care by the owners is what really effects the camp. They are blind to the economy and raise the cost without many upgrades. The activities are limited and many they show you are for equipment that is usually out of order, cheap or broken. Their go carts are generally broken most of the summer. You will find that you pay for 6 weeks what most camps charge for 7-8. The timing is odd with their visiting day -1 day before the end of camp. Food is mediocre at best. Its always chicken. They have no problem yelling at parents if they feel that you are not supporting their crazy policies. You never feel like a customer, more like a bother. When contacting them about issues you often blown off. Look elsewhere if you really want a good camp for several years for your child. RID: 47675

7/20/14   5     5     5     5     5   My twin Girls just camp back from 3 weeks at Lindenmere . They were begging to stay longer. The staff is amazing so attentive to campers and parents. The activities are so diverse everyone can find many things they like or try new things. My girls loved the good. The facilities are kept very clean and they are always making them even better. The girls made many friend and memories to last forever. I already signed them up for next year. Was the best experience . RID: 47647

7/20/14   5     4     5     5     5   Camp Lindenmere is a magical place! My 2 boys have spent 3 summers there so far and they love it! The camp attracts really nice and friendly kids. There is no tolerance for bullying; they proudly send kids home if they are detracting from the experience for others. The counselors are amazing and if they aren't, they get sent home too. My boys have gained so much confidence there. And for my younger son who has struggled a bit with homesickness, the camp has gone out of its way to keep him happy and engaged with reassuring updates to us. The parents of the kids are great too and we have made so many great friends. I didn't want to leave visiting day because I was so enjoying the time with my boys, their friends and the other parents. My only 4 is for the facilities; the newish owners are starting to put money back into the camp; there has been a lot of focus on the arts and now I'm hoping they will update some of the sports areas too. Regardless, I would highly recommend this camp! RID: 47645

7/6/14   5     5     5     5     5   Our son is a first time overnight camper who is having the most amazing summer. The counselors are attentive and caring. On day 3, he suffered a broken bone (accidentally). The staff immediately knew what to do, took excellent care of him, and adjusted his schedule to keep him busy with excellent activities, as much as possible, as if nothing happened. The nurse stayed with him by his bedside all night and kept us informed with every step of his progress. They even had his entire bunk visit him, and he could not get back to his friends/bunk as fast as possible. The camp provides all that it offers. We could not be happier. RID: 47530

10/26/12   5     5     5     5     5   This will be our daughters second year at Lindenmere. For being a first time camper we couldn’t thank the directors, her division leader and staff enough for ensuring that our little girl had the best first camp experience. The director and division leader spoke with us after her first few days at camp to let us know how she was settling in (how she was handling homesickness, the food, and all the great things she was trying) and this communication continued throughout the session as well as a daily blog that was written with such a clear detail of what’s going on at camp; which made us feel like we were there experiencing everything with her. She loved her counselors, loved being able to pick her activities, and from the constant chatter we know she has made friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. We are all counting down the days till 2013! RID: 42937

10/20/12   1     2     1     1     1   My child was miserable here. Bullying is rampant, activities are so crowded...my daughter would show up at the trapeze and not even get a turn for e whole period. Director is completely in attentive and has "favorites" who can do no wrong. My daughter has now been at another camp for two years and is very happy. I didn't know about is review site back then, but I have to say that I am very suspicious of all of the 'all 5' reviews. It looks like they were entered just to pump up the rating. RID: 42907

8/18/12   4     4     5     3     4   Great activities, great that the camper can choose their specialty. But there is not enough supervision of the campers. There is no overall bunk counselor who is with your child hour to hour. Also, my child did. It know where to go at times, and there was no counselor around to ask. But, still, she had a good time. She enjoyed her activities. RID: 42423

8/6/12   5     5     5     5     5   Our 3 children just got home from 6 weeks at this wonderful camp!!! this was our oldests 2nd successful summer & our younger 2's 1st. They all gave it a 10 out of 10 experience!!! The owner, director, and staff was exceptional...they believe in their kids and want them to be successful. After having a nightmare experience at a high-end traditional camp, we were not sure how this camp would be for all our kids...it was simply wonderful. Our children grew in ways that we never expected. the camp is all about respect & being an individual, kindness...and to accept people for who they are... what better values to instill in our children. even when bumps hit along the way (home sickness @ visiting day) the camp staff embraced our child and never gave up. they proved they really love their kids! we are so blessed to have found Camp Lindenmere RID: 42238

7/20/12   5     5     5     5     5   My son just returned last week and LOVED camp. We thought he would play basketball and soccer all summer, turns out he loves electric guitar! He thought his counselors were "the bomb" and we loved Mitch's daily blogs. What an amazing summer! Our only regret is he wanted to stay 2nd session and they were full :( We are already enrolled for 2013 full summer. We love Lindenmere! RID: 41807
Click to report rating    7/17/12   1     3     3     1     1   The owner is uncaring and won't even speak to parents when they contact him with a problem. The directors and group leaders are in denial about anything that's not perfect at camp. They wouldn't admit that anything was wrong or try to do anything about it when my child was miserable (mostly because her counselors were cold and inattentive). RID: 41766
Click to report rating    3/14/12   5     5     5     5     5   I have gone to Camp Lindenmere for two years now, and it is the best part of the year. You will make friends memories that you will never forget. My first year, i only went for 3 weeks and i was sitting on my plane home crying because i didn't want to leave. every sunday, kids call home on their phones. If they don't have a phone, they can call from the office. Also, on thursdays we go on field trips and have barbecue for dinner. Every counselor is super sweet, they have every activity you can think of, and everyone makes friends. They have a soccer field, a basketball court, a tennis court, two flying trapeze, and so much more. Every night is an evening activity and canteen with a candy bar and ice-cream. If you are looking for a camp to go to, Camp Lindenmere is the place you should go to. Check their website: camplindenmere.com . It will be a summer that you will never forget. RID: 40535

Click to report rating    7/26/11   5     5     5     5     5   My children ages 12 (girl) and 9 (boy) are spending their 3rd and 2nd summers at Camp Lindenmere. It seems that every summer just gets even better than the last! My kids are going back for sure. This is an incredible place where kids get to choose what they would like to do every single day. The staff is warm and loving and they nurture each and every child. "Amazing Mitch" as the kids call the owner is clearly in his element as the Camp Director. His heartwarming daily newsletter still make me cry after 3 summers of reading them. Odie, the Boy's Camp Divison Leader has been my "go to" person and he's wonderful at keeping in touch and lending a hand. The kids adore him. CHildren not being kind to others is not tolerated. This is not the place for bullies or showmanship. This is a camp where a child grows emotionally each day and at the same time has a blast. It's a place where a child is not afraid to step outside the box. Its a paradis amdist the many choices out there. RID: 36528

7/14/11   4     4     3     4     4   This is my daughters FIRST for camp experience and mine also. Camp was recommended to me and I am HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY. My daughter is shy/introverted-she called to say she wants to STAY another 3 weeks! I have e-mailed and received a quick response. The camp counselor called me 2x to let me know how my daughter was. We visited the camp & were pleased w/ the updated conditions, cleanliness and programs offered. I was pleased to find out that a child was sent home for bullying/inappropriate behavior. It is good to know that the camp does not tolerate unacceptable behavior. My daughter went without a friend - on her own and is happy there. I have met a few "moms" and am looking forward to continuing a friendship. Counselors from australia/england have been pleasant, kind, respectable. I gave activites 3 to be fair-my daughter is still there so until I get feedback from her, that's my rating. I gave rest 4, again b/c until I see/hear/talk w/daughter. I will re-post. RID: 36395

7/13/11   5     5     5     5     5   My two daughters are currently at camp. This is their third year and they seem to love camp even more this year. The activities that THEY CHOSE are better than they expected and are just loving camp. I am currently lookin at pictures of my children and I don't think I have ever seen them smile as much. Camp Lindenmere, the owners, and the staff are doing a fabulous job this year! RID: 36386

7/13/11   5     5     5     5     5   Lindenmere is an extraordinary camp run by an extraordinary man and staff. My daughter is attending her second summer there, and we (and she) couldn't be happier. The facility is beautiful, the activities are plentiful, and camp-wide activities are imaginative and fun. The culture fostered at LIndenmere is one of kindness and acceptance. Last year, a small clique developed in the bunk. The staff addressed the issue immediately and took the time to encourage new and broader friendships within the bunk. I take offense at the attacks on Mitch on this site. Mitch's passions are kids and camp, and nowhere will you find a more dedicated and devoted director. Yes, kids are sent home, and I can unequivocally say it is always with GOOD and substantiated reason and not without warning the child first. (A violent child was dismissed from my child's bunk this summer.) My child has grown immeasurably from her experiences at Lindenmere, and I recommend this camp wholeheartedly. RID: 36379

7/12/11   5     5     5     5     5   Camp Lindenmere is the best camp! Every summer my kids have amazing experiences - from the activities that they choose themselves to the counselors who are awesome to the campers to the camp leadership... it is all amazing. We are so luck to have found a camp that is run so well. They truly care about my kids and I know that my kids feel that love all summer long. Best of all - the food is awesome - so my kids don't come home complaining about the food or anything. They spend the whole year counting the days until they return to camp. The best part of the camp is that the kids are able to learn and grow and make their own choices. They are in charge of their own destiny and their own schedule! How cool is that for a kid! Thank you Camp Lindenmere! RID: 36377

7/4/11   3     2     2     1     2   Our child went to this camp for a few summers. Based on the experience, we have to agree with the 11/2010 poster regarding the owner's lack of professionalism and good judgment. In our view, he is ill-suited to run a camp. The facilities are mediocre (e.g. no lakefront), but the camp is less expensive than others, so you get what you pay for. Parents easily can do better for their kids than Lindenmere. RID: 36287

1/23/11   5     4     5     5     5   I've been going to this camp for 5 years and am EXTREMELY excited to return for summer 2011!!! The post below upsets me because I couldn't disagree more. The directors are amazing and give every single camper the attention and care they need, and are always there for me. The memories I made here will never be forgotten. The activities are AMAZING. I especially love the dance and circus programs! I've learned so much from this camp and each and every camper gets to grow and become independent. I cannot stress enough how I would recommend this camp to anyone and everyone! RID: 34914
Click to report rating    11/11/10   1     3     3     1     2   The camp has varied activities. But pls, think twice. My experience was terrible, particularly because of the owner who has a volatile temper and is extremely unprofessional. My young teen attended camp for 4 summers w/out incident & has never had a single behavior problem in school. Yet she was discharged after 10 days from this camp because she is a bit quirky which annoyed her bunk mates who conspired against her. The camp did not reassign her, never mentioned that she might be kicked out til we got the call to pick her up. After 4 hrs of asking to speak w/the owner to explain, he came on and yelled and called our child horrible names. We picked her up; next day, we saw that the owner boasted abt the discharge in the camp newsletter. The owner never gave a reason for sending our daughter home, but he promised refund which took FOUR MONTHS to process.I'm willing to concede that a camp has a right to say who stays and who goes, but there is no justification for the owner's conduct.  7/11/10   5     5     5     5     5   This is an amazing camp directed/owned by an amazing man. Those prior who had negative things to say about Mitch have no grounds for their comments. He is extraordinarily flexible, willing to listen, pours his heart, soul and money into this place and gets to know and love every single kid at this camp!! I have an 11 year old daughter who has returned for her 2nd summer and my son age 8 begged after going up for visiting day last summer to go for all 6 weeks. My kids are night and day when it comes to activities and Lindenmere has it all. It is a camp of choice! Each child does the things that they want to do every single day. The staff is warm and kind and very easy to communicate with!!! Each and every child is celebrated for who they are as unique individuals. The social and emotional well being of each child is clearly a very important component of this camp. It is a summer experience for life and I feel blessed to have found this paradise for my kids!!  6/22/10   3     3     1     1     1   My daughter went to this camp last summer and she had a peculiar time. She thought the directer was tremendously unfair, but loved the staff members. She HATED the activities and said they were "boring" but said the facilities were nice. Overall it was ok, but she isn't going back. RID: 33094
Click to report rating    12/22/09   5     5     5     5     5   I have been going to this camp for 4 years and am going back for a 5th. It is my favorite place in the world and could not imagine a summer without it. I have made friends who come from all different backgrounds and places, creating such an interesting mix of personalities. I have made such good friends in the campers and the counselors and cannot wait until I can be a counselor inn two years. I STRONGLY recommend lindenmere because all of the staff are exceedingly friendly and the whole environment makes you feel welcome. RID: 31768
Click to report rating    9/14/09   5     5     5     5     5   I was a camper at Lindenmere 34 years ago and decided to look it up when deciding to send my 2 boys to camp. My boys had the best time, and I must say that it was an investment that we do not regret. My children loved the staff, as well as the facilities, and the camp director was always available to us. He kept us informed and when we couldn't make it up to the second visiting day and he helped us to make sure our younger child understood that we would have been there if we could. Overall I thought the staff was caring and the facility was beautiful. I was thrilled to see that the camp is still such a special place, and that my children have memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. RID: 30968

7/7/09   5     5     5     5     5   This is the PERFECT camp for a family looking for a small, incredibly warm and loving environment for their child(ren). This camp truly practices what they preach in terms of the emotional well being of each and every single camper. It is clear from the owner's daily newsletter that this camp is his life and he gets great happiness out of the kids making Lindenmere "their own". It is a camp of "choice" and the kids really get to be individuals and truly shine. In my opinion camp does not get any better than Lindenmere! RID: 30340

Click to report rating    11/24/08   5     5     5     5     5   My child had a wonderful summer and we had the exact opposite experience as the last reviewer (who does seem to be in the minority). The choice program is great -my child chose to do so many new things and learned to rock climb and do trapeze. My child enjoyed all the trips and the freedom and being able to make her own schedule and meet kids of different ages. I found Charles to be extremely responsive --all calls were returned same day. I felt the directors and division leader really knew her well. I loved that in 6 weeks you get 2 visiting days, unlimited packages, 2 way e-mail and 45 calls every sunday. What can I say--she had a great time, can't wait to go back and that's all i could ask for. no camp is right for every child. RID: 27686
11/19/08   1     1     1     1     1   My son had a horrible time at this camp. The new director has no business working at a camp. He's unfriendly and not flexible with anything he does. My son will not be going back and I will definitely not recommend this camp to anyone. RID: 27590

Click to report rating    8/17/08   5     5     5     5     5   I totally disagree with the last review. My kids have been at Lindenmere for years, and this was their best summer yet! The new management team is wonderful. They are highly attentive to the children and parents. All phone calls were answered the same day with caring and insightfullness. My kids loved the improvements to camp,as well as their counselors. And we loved knowing they were being cared for so well. We got 2 letters a week, and who care if they ate too much chicken!!?? Best summer yet! Thanks Lindenmere! We would HIGHLY recommend this camp!!! RID: 25762
Click to report rating    8/11/08   2     5     3     1     3   We found counselors ill equipped 2 deal w/younger children; issues, social skills, personal hygiene, grooming, camaraderie & good sportsmanship. Even less equipped 2 deal w/communicating w/parents. Head of counselors was liason between parent & counselor. Parents should be allowed 2 speak directly w/the persons in care of their child on a day 2 day basis. Parents were not allowed 2 escort kids 2 their bunks upon arrival this yr. Bunks were nice but in 1 case the head a bed was next 2 & up against a fuse box that was not key locked. No ladders 4 bunk beds. Kids were taught 2 climb on the wooden slats at the foot of bed 2 get 2 top bunk. Children were not encouraged to write letters this year. Children conveyed that there was 2 much chicken 4 lunch & dinner. The kids missed the diversity of foods they'd eatan in the past. Money better spent in more vigilant & sensitive staffing. Quality is worth more than quantity, glitz & #'s. My camper refuses to go back. We loved the old Lindemere. RID: 25599
Click to report rating    8/9/08   5     5     5     5     5   I could not disagree more with the previous rater. The new directors may have delegated more responnsibility to others but the previous owner took on too much and spread herself way too thin. As a parent, my emails and phone calls were returned the same day vs, the prior years wben I had to call several times to get a response. The new owner added many activitites, (go-karting,, cooking, canteen games, etc) and improved the theatre and courts. My daughter was reluctant to come back last summer but loved it this summer and does not want to leave. I will highly recommennd this camp to anyone that asks. RID: 25528
8/8/08   1     3     3     1     2   After many great years at Lindenmere, this summer was very poor. The new owner and Camp Director do not have the passion that the previous owners/managers had. The staff say they are unhappy and several are unprepared to work with children. The owner is disconnected from the parents and the Camp Director seems ill prepared to manage the camp. It's a shame because Lindenmere "rocked" for many years. We would not recommend this camp to anyone who asks. RID: 25514

8/11/07   5     4     5     5     5   There should be another category entitled "friendliness of kids". My kids have been to several camps and didn't care for the snotty attitude of the kids. The campers here are warm, friendly, and if there is any incident it it dealt with immediately. The new owner and the director knew every child by first name, and knew what made them special. My kids had the best summer and cannot wait to return. RID: 13855

I have met people that I ordinaraly would not have, and established many irriplacable relationships. I have always felt comfortable around the majority of the staff members, and am amazed with their patience and dedication. Go to lindenmere if you like an environment that is Homey with rustic appeal. It is a place where you can relax and just be yourself. Summer 2007 will be my fith summer at Lindenmere and i am extremely excited! :) (yay) RID: 12443
