I've been to 3 other scout camps and this was one of the best. Food was the best of all the other camps I've tried (Wente, Whitsett, Fleishman). Lots of shade, fairly hilly, no water front (pool only). Well organized with good staff. Indoor dining hall, family-style dining with designated waiters for each table (much better than camps like Fleishman and Whitsett where every boy/man fends for himself in a line that stretches forever). Period-style merit badge schedule. Five 1-1/2 hour periods per day. Again, much better than camps like Fleishman that only have one period per day (results in way too much free time for the boys, i.e. time to get in trouble). We stayed in Fricot Meadows camp site which I don't recommend. It's on the windward side of camp (cold and windy every afternoon) and it's on the side of a hill so there's no flat spots for setting up a tent. The site had a dozen or so platform tents, some newer than others. 2 shower houses but they were centrally located.

After going to another camp after years of Royaneh, I realized it is not as great a camp as I thought it was.

Royaneh looks like it was a nice camp 40 years ago. Unfortunately they have been unable to keep up with the times and trends of scouting. They need to let go of old traditions and make some new ones. The program felt static and dry, the staff were friendly but tired. I want a bigger program and a more exciting experance.

I've spent half the summers of my life at Royaneh. It's like home for me. Come check it out, it's a great place.

Awesome camp - just spent a week there and can not tell you how great it was. Staff is super helpful and the food was fantastic. I will definitely be back next year

This is an awesome camp. The counselors work hard to help the scouts be successful in the merit badge learning process. The food is excellent, plentiful and tasty. There is a rope course and a horse program as well as the traditional shooting sports and scoutcraft programs. There are activities for scoutmasters. This camp is strong in history and tradition while continuosly striving to meet the increaing needs of the troops. Recent improvements include new cabins for scouts and staff. The pool is currently being demolished to make way for a new pool. Call 1-800-231-7963 for more info.
