Hi, I'm writing a review for my kid because he complained about this camp today. First of all, the staff, the staff here aren't bad but the rules are very strict. One time my son was sick and he felt like he would throw up, so he called home on his iPhone, but instead of the head director(Scott) caring about him being sick and asking about how his condition was, he said WHY ARE YOU ON YOU'RE PHONE. Instead of caring for the children, he punishes them for doing what they should've done. He said next time your son does that he will go to the office for a whole day. He makes the camp unfun and cares so much and yells at everyone. Facilities are decent, as the camp is run down, but ever since 2023 they have gotten worse and so has the food. One time they gave my son some stale bread, they also only use wheat bread. The activities are decently fun, but they don't have enough boats for everyone, and fishing doesn't have real rods. They don't give personal attention, and don't go please.

I was disappointed in the bus so I drove my children. There was a woman that yelled at the children and staff. Made me wonder how she spoke to them when parents were not there. No you are not my daughter's favorite. While some of the staff was attentive others talked about inappropriate topics in front of my my son. I really wanted to like the camp and have not decided what we wanted to do next summer.

I have been going to gate hill for five years (about to start my 6th year), and it is great! (Mostly). The counselors that I have gotten so far, most of them have been great. They are fun, easy to talk to, and get to know you well. The division leaders and facilties I have had throughout the years have also been quite good. They are very understanding of one campers needs, strengths, and difficulties. However, some of them are a bit quirky. The activities are amazing. They have a great aquatics program, suiting each camper regardless of swim level, and feature sports, outdoor activities (Like Go-Karts, Archery, Ziplining,etc.) Starting from kids entering 3rd grade, there is a program for kids who prefer arts and science over sports, which is great especially in the older years because then they put alot more sports into the schedule. They also have an elective program which happens 2 times a day, where the camper can choose an activity they like to participate in, however, each electiv

This will be my son's third year at Gate Hill. I cannot find one thing to complain about. First of all, the owner is on site, available, attentive and kind. This attitude is pervasive to the staff. The staff is happy, friendly and mature. They work with your child. My son has a lot of fears, they never push him, and they make him feel included. The facilities are beautiful. I have visited other local camps, that appear to be outdated. I, also, appreciate that kids come form all over. The camp in non-uniform which I think is so much nicer and more relaxed. The food services are good, the counselors are wonderful, and lastly as an extra bonus there is a towel and bathing suit service. We love GATEHILL.It is pricey, but in line for this area.. but you can see that the money goes to make this very special camp what it is.. outstanding!

Horrible bus counselor. Staff did not listen to campers about issues and needs. No independence and poor variety of restaurants for teens on trip. Overall disappointed

This summer will be our daughter's 4th summer at Gate Hill. She started when she was 3 years old and every summer she has loved it. Everything about Gate Hill, from the staff, to the variety in activities and the way the program/facility grows with the campers, etc. has exceeded our expectations.

I sent my 2 children to Gate Hill this summer. I was promised a lot of things that I did not get. I was promised a 45 minute bus ride from Tarrytown. My children were on the bus for over an hour every day. When I called to complain< Josh told me not to worry and that my children loved the bus. They told me that they did not want to go back. They hated the bus. My son loved his counselors, but my daughter did not like hers. She always was yelling. My biggest issue was that the no one would call me regarding issues.

Excellent communication and facilities. Well maintained. Everyone is very friendly; counselors seem to care (unlike in other camps). Drawbacks: not too appealing to competitive kids; heads of division mostly public school teachers that run the groups as if they are in public school (handing out suspensions for indiscretions) and do not necessarily adapt the groups to different kids' personalities and needs, which is the reason I lowered the "personal attention" rating. For the money you pay, you expect some personal touch in making sure different kids' needs are met, rather than trying to fit and hammer the kid into their perceived mold.

The counselors are really fantastic. Some are international from Austrailia, etc. they are required to participate in the kids' activities, not just sit there and watch. The pools and gaga domes are what my son likes the best. He has gone there 4 years straight and did not go with anyone he knew. He made a couple new friends that he hangs with all year long. Thank you, Gate Hill for making me feel so comfortable!

I spent a large portion of my childhood at Gate Hill and now work there as a counselor. Not once in all my time there have I ever thought of going to another camp. Gate Hill has activities for all ages, ranging from your generic arts & crafts and baseball, to camp favorites like gaga and tower. I love special event days, especially olympics (our take on color war). Counselors are hired with the different age groups in mind and are placed in accordance with their style and personality, be it leaning more toward being a parent, or more of a big brother/sister type of role model. The different programs and activities keep kids returning year after year, a lot of them eventually becoming staff members. Most importantly, Gate Hill provides an environment that fosters and develops friendships that last a lifetime. I made some of my best friends at Gate Hill and I see my campers getting closer every day.

This is the second year my daughter going to Gate Hill and she absolutely loves it. The kids from her division (explorers)are like families and she has made great friends there. Everyone is kind to each other there is no bullies. She loves Bob and said he is like grandpa. They have nice workshops every week. She wishes that their division can have overnight trips like Mountaineers. Overrall it is the best camp she has ever attended since age 4.

My kids have been going there for 3 summers. I have never felt a worry when my kids were there. My kids absolutley love it! the best part is they have adults watching your kids not just teenagers. Plus they are the only camp in the county with a splash park! Believe me my father in law is the health inspector for Rockland County and he highly approves u can't get better than that!

I went to gate hill for 5 years. I met so many people. I loved my counselors. The best part was the food.... YUM! You get the main dish but you can also get peanut butter and jelly or a bagel. There is a no peanut butter table for those who are allergic. They have a lot of pools and great waterslides. Its eight weeks of bunches of fun. GO BOB!

i have been at gate hill for 6 years and this camp is amazing this camp has the best swim program in all of rockland. i have learned to swim from the greatest instrutors. the conslurs are okay but there are awsome divison directors to assist the conslurs. I was never really upset at camp except on the last day. the last you make a memorie box, have a dance party and they burn a carboard year that represents that the next summer is close. i allways met new friends and most of my friends i knew for 5 or 6 years and are still coming to camp with me. and in november there is a reunion that u c all your friends and play fun games. I think you should check out gate hill day camp because its fun and the BEST DAY CAMP EVER

Gate Hill was a fun camp and I liked to go there. I liked some of my counselors but some were weird. They had really good food and a lot of food choices. It is fun so you should go there.yay!

Gatehill is a great camp. I have been going there for 4 years and it is so much fun. The staff are nice and fun to be with. There are fun activities such as go carts that go up to 5 miles per hour and tower and the two ziplines and much more. If you come to this camp you will have so much fun.

My kids went to a more expensive day camp slightly closer to our house and that was not worth the money. This camp is AWESOME. The camp is warm, nurturing, attentive and fun. My kids never complain about anything they just want to share stories about their fun day. Great place!!

My three very demanding kids (all under 10) have been there for several years now and I never hear complaints from them. They always seem to have a story to tell and there are lots of different themed days. There is a focus on swim instruction and my three learned there early on. My picky eaters love the food. The directors and the staff are very involved & stay in touch with parents. These folks love what they do and do it well. Reasonably priced for the area.

I went to this camp for five years in-arow! It is the most cleanest camp ever! Everybody there is so careing. They also have a masckot named Buddy! He is Awsome to. GO TO GATE HILL DAY CAMP!

this was a pretty good camp. the coiselors my first year were super nice i even kept in contact with one of them and my second year i didn't like my counselors and i never really had made friends so i wasn't too happy but the camp itself was great!!
