They do have a medical facility. If your child needs it, they will get poor bedside manner and treated like cattle. My son was sent back on trail to me after a 3 day infirmiry stay, still vomiting!! I decided the only way for him to get decent medical attention was for me to return with him and get face to face with a good dr after weeding through the others that had bedside manners of a veterinarian. Only with me there did anyone take the time to actually speak with my son to help heal him. They all seem to forget that these young men can still be uncomfortable talking about medical issues with strangers and none put forth an effort to help him. A few were so rude as to not even introduce themselves and treat him like cattle being processed through, even while i was there!! If we are raising and training our youth to be good men, why does philmont medical staff not treat them accordingly? I will never trust my child's well being to philmont medical staff again.

Im going for my second time this summer and I can't wait. It is an experience that will last a life time. If you plan on becoming an eagle scout, or just like to be outdoors. Then Philmont is a MUST.

I loved Philmont. I went first in 2000 and stayed at the base camp then went again in 2004 and went on a trek. Those were great memories and now I look forward to a possible summer job there. I think it would just be amazing to work there. I cannot wait to go back!!!

I've hiked at Philmont twice, nothing can compare with standing on top of the Tooth, Phillips and Baldy. The best camp in the counrty in my opinion. Finally returning on staff this year as a PC at CITO

I haven't had the opportunity to go here as a camper, but I worked at base camp last summer and am going back to work in the backcountry this summer. It is an amazing opportunity to be at Philmont and if you can possibly go...go. It's definately worth it.

I loved Philmont. Standing on top of the tooth of time, walking through hidden valley, throwing tomahawks, flying missions in the red roof inns =P. The staff are the best, the trails are incredible (especially compared to the White Mts where I normally hike) the campsites are pristeen, and the views are fantastic. Getting back to base camp at the end is great to, you get to ring the big bell and eat your first real meal (there is a great pizza place in Cimmaron =D ) and you get your first shower in two weeks. If your troop is offering this trip definetly go, it's not that hard and it is the best time you will ever have.

Easily the best camp in the nation. Quality programs, and nice facilities. Have been there in both summer and winter and both programs were BSA's best.

Philmont is the best backpacking experience that can be achieved anywhere. The staff is fantastic, and and visit to Philmont will create a positive lifetime memory.
