The was my sons 5th year and he says it bleeps getting better. Going back to moosilauke is his one request for next summer. He keeps in touch both friends over the year and picks up where he left off. And as a parent I appreciate the social emotional coaching they sprinkle into that my son comes home a better man each summer. Love this camp!

This was our third year at Camp Moosilauke for our oldest son and the first for our youngest—and we couldn't be happier! The staff and counselors were absolutely fantastic. Both of our boys came home raving about their excursions, the wakeboarding, and, most of all, the great friends they made. The camp creates an environment that’s both adventurous and welcoming. They're already counting down the days until next summer!

I was a camper myself and had the best summer of my life there. Twenty-five years later, I sent my son in 2024 and again in 2025. He had an incredible experience both years and can’t wait to go back next summer.
What matters most is how he came home each time—with new confidence, lasting friendships, and experiences that simply can’t be replicated at home or on family trips. That’s the magic of camp.
What’s especially unique about Moose is the variety—it’s one of the few camps where kids genuinely get to do a bit of everything: outdoor adventures, waterfront activities, arts, and more traditional sports. The balance keeps things exciting and helps kids discover new interests they might never have tried otherwise.
Moose stands out as an exceptional camp. Bill and Sabina are outstanding directors who truly understand boys. The facilities are exactly what you’d hope for in a camp, and the staff is top-notch.

Our son started at Moose when we has 9 years old. He finished as a 15 year old. Moose helped make our son the young man he is today - resilient, kind, and empathetic. Moose fostered a sense of independence for our only child. He learned to believe in himself and developed significant leadership skills during his camp years - all while having the greatest summers ever. We strongly recommend Camp Moosilauke for your son. Moose will be forever in our son's heart, and we will be forever grateful to the incredible Moose team.

We love Camp Moosilauke for our son! it helped build character, resilience and confidence in him. The staff is amazing and knowledgeable, which is comforting to us as parents, knowing your child is away from home. I would recommend it to any family, and I look forward to my child going back next year!

My son was having a very tough middle school experience and was feeling demoralized. A friend recommended Moosilauke last year and Sabina did a great consult and we were able to send him. He did a mix of arty stuff (woodworking) and outdoor activities. Guys from his cabin confidently introduced themselves to me at pick-up, and he gladly showed me around the camp - which was fabulously low tech. On the ride back to the airport we sat in silence for a bit and he turned to me and said, "Mom. I'm not 'The Weird Kid.'" He had made friends and been able to be himself and I think it was really impactful for him to go to Moosilauke. He returned this summer and also had a very positive experience. And when I was unable to pick him up due to Covid, Sabina and the staff immediately helped us pivot to getting him to the airport and home without me. Very glad my son went to Moosilauke, and this year he also came back hooked on Texas Hold 'em, which we've been playing since he returned :)

Our son has now attended Camp Moosilauke for two years and has loved every second of it. What we like most is the balance of down time to play cards with his friends and also to be challenged to do big hikes and water sports. He comes back asking to go back right away for next summer so we know how much he loves it. He always tells us how great the counselors are too. We highly recommend.

This was our son's first summer at Moosilauke, but his third summer as a camper. Moosilauke was a wonderful second camp for him. Our son experiences anxiety, and the camp nurse, Mia, as well as one of his cabin counselors worked with him to overcome his anxious feelings and thrive while he was at camp. He made friends easily, and enjoyed all the activities he participated in. We are grateful to Sabina and Bill for continuing to offer boys a loving and fun summer camp to call home each year.

Can't say enough good things about this camp. My son came back more independent, confident and self-assured. I really appreciate their "unplugged" policy - no screens (the occasional drive-in movie as a special treat!) and I really loved getting the hand-written letters home. They have a great policy of encouraging boys to try things that they haven't done before - my son jumped off a cliff into a river, went wake-boarding and fell in love with Lacrosse and sailing. Bill and Sabina and the rest of the staff are fantastic - truly kind and communicative - and I'm thankful for their efforts in preserving this wonderful place

My son has attended camp Moosilauke for the past two summers and had an extraordinary time both years. Asking to return for a 3rd. He enjoys the variety of activities, the traditions and the outdoor adventures. Bill and Sabina are incredibly attentive. They respond quickly to any and all concerns. All concerns coming from a nervous mom, my son has no complaints. His letters are upbeat, he returns home joyful and with loads of stories and happy memories.

Why all 5s for Moosilauke? The intention of the camp, the camp directors, the counselors, the program they set up, and the way they execute it every summer. My boys absolutely love it there, and they love it while growing in multiple ways, learning new skills, and becoming independent in a way they couldn't do at home. I feel grateful to have found it.

Our 9 year old had his first year of camp at Moosilauke and had the time of his life. He had so many new experiences and gained confidence with all of them. He enjoyed the trips- to cliff jumping, drive in movies, and ice cream. The staff were utter professionals not to mention the owners who are excellent communicators and have a clear ethos about how to support the development of boys, which you can read about on the website. Briefly- they should be supported in learning new things, experience life screen free, and respect each other. We feel very lucky to have found Camp Moosilauke and highly recommend it.

Our son had the amazing opportunity to attend Camp Moosilauke this summer in Orford, NH. To say this was an amazing experience for our son is an understatement. The family run camp is superior in their ability to connect with kids, build community in four short weeks and empower these boys to become confident, kind, and resilient. Camp Moosilauke is a paradise for boys and as a parent I simply couldn't have been more thrilled with the entire experience.

My 9, almost 10, year old son just returned from 2 amazing weeks at Camp Moosilauke. This was his first sleepaway camp experience, and as parents, we were understandably a bit anxious leading to drop off day, but boy was that unfounded. Bill and Sabina were there to greet us at drop off, along with several of the counselors and responded right away to an email to ask how he was doing on day 2. The app the camp is using to share photos was fantastic - we saw our sons activities daily - with him smiling in almost all of them! Most importantly, at pick up, he was effusively positive on the whole experience. He made great friends, liked his counselors and can't wait to go back next year. While he's only been back a few days, we've genuinely noticed more independence from him. We're officially part of the Moose family now!

Our 10yo attended Moosilauke for the first time this summer. We had researched camps after a previous negative experience and we are so grateful for the nurturing care and preparatory contact Sabina provided in giving anticipatory guidance by answering our many questions and giving our son space to share his wonders and worries. After drop off, the first post card we received was, “I’m so homesick, please come pick me up.” The second was filled with adventures that also acknowledged evening time was the hardest for him. The third postcard was full of his experiences and the last was, “I’m having a great time. Love you, Bye.” We picked him up after two weeks and he sat in the back seat on the way home recounting his week and singing a camp song created with lyrics about Moosilauke to the tune of “Home”. Now he tells us and everyone else he had a great time and how he really wants to go back. Camp Moosilauke worked its magic in renewing our son’s belief in camp. Ours too!

My son Deven has been going to the Moose for four straight years and I can't speak more highly for how Bill and Sabina run this place. They build a community around helping boys build confidence, encourage risk taking and "being comfortable with being uncomfortable." With a strict no screen policy the result is my son comes home more confident, a pleasure to be around and has lifelong friends and experiences hiking, waterskiing, camping and exploring. This camp is worth every penny and my only regret is that I didn't go there when I was younger!!

Moose is my son's safe place where he can try the scary and hard stuff. That is such a gift to him. The staff is just amazing and there are so many activities and opportunities for the boys to move outside of their comfort zone in a fun and supportive environment.
I truly believe that my son's summers at Moose have given him the skills, confidence and perspective to succeed in any environment. I know that he will continue to draw upon his experiences at Moose to help him as he experiences challenges in the future.

My kids just completed their third year of camp. The thing that sets Moosilauke apart from other camp experiences is the culture of acceptance, mutual respect, and zero tolerance for bullying. There aren't many places you can send your kids that teach them how to be good humans, but Moosilauke does this! Personalized attention is also incredible, both from the counselor-camper ratio, Bill and Sabina, and the rest of the staff. The camp runs extremely professionally with prompt, thorough notification and attention for any injuries or illnesses. My kids have developed confidence, maturity, and lasting friendships. Definitely recommend!

My teenaged son was a camper here this summer. This is a very professional, well run and amazing camp for boys...super friendly and responsive director and staff, welcoming atmosphere and just a mentally and physically healthy for boys to spend time. Absolutely life-changing and positive experience for my child....he had only excellent things to report, returning home happy and relaxed... and can't wait to return. Highly recommend!

This camp is truly one of the best. Not only is it in a beautiful setting, but One of the highlights for our family is the encouragement to try new things. My son had never tried tennis or lacrosse and is proud of gaining those new skills. Along with trying new things, they are also great at fostering decision-making in allowing the boys to decide what they want to do at times too. 10/10 definitely recommend!

My son just completed his second year of camp at Moosilauke. He has a summer birthday and had the best 11th bday ever this July. His only complaint after his first summer at Moose was, "It wasn't long enough." So this year he attended for 4.5 weeks. He will definitely be returning next summer. While camp offers plenty of sports - my (not-super-sporty) son's favorite part of camp is the fact that everyone fits in and everyone has a chance to shine. He loves woodworking, arts and crafts, and outdoor hiking and climbing and bike riding. The activities on the lake/waterfront are unbelievable and he learned to waterski this summer! The boys all seem super super nice. Such great opportunities for FUN!

My twin boys attended Moosilauke for the first time last summer and it couldn't have been a better experience. They were exposed to so many different activities and every day was filled with fun and excitement. Bill and Sabina love what they do and they have created a community of kindness and opportunity for our lucky sons. We look forward to another great summer next year! The photographer was also terrific and gave parents tuning in at home some great snapshots of camp life!

My 10-yr-old son was a first time camper this summer at Moosilauke and loved it! Lots of activities he was familiar with (baseball, tennis, lacrosse, basketball, ping pong), and lots of new stuff - water skiing was the favorite! I felt completely comfortable with Bill and Sabina and knew he'd be in good hands. It was his first overnight camp experience and he wants to stay longer next year. Great communication from the directors. Beautiful setting, too.

My husband attended Camp Moosilauke and was eager for our sons to follow in his path. I was hesitant as it is very far from our home. One visit with camp directors Bill and Sabina McMahon and I was sold. Fast forward 5 years and our boys looks forward to camp all year long! They have each had an incredible time, trying all new and different activities. Its great to watch them push their own limits in a place where they feel free, supported and encouraged to do so. They have made wonderful friends and gained confidence, poise and life skills that I know they will carry with them as they age.

We have 3 boys and they have attended, collectively between them, 7 summer sessions at Moosilauke, and counting. We have nothing but the highest praise for the camp. Our boys love the culture of the camp, the friends they meet from around the US and the world and all the amazing activities that aren't just traditional team sports (camping, wake surfing, mountain bike riding). As parents, we love the philosophy of the camp (positive risk taking) and how the administrators and counselors really take the time to make sure that the boys are growing and learning over the summer. We recommend Moosilauke to all our friends with young boys who want a summer camp experience that strives for more than candy and canoe rides.

We can't say enough wonderful things about Moosilauke. Our two sons, age 9 and 11, returned from 2.5 weeks of camp this summer begging to go back for 4.5 weeks next year. It is undoubtedly the highlight of their summer, and they come back more independent, self-confident, comfortable trying new things, and able to have fun without screens. Bill and Sabina run a well-organized program, the food is great, the facilities are beautiful and clean, parents are kept very well informed, and they care for each boy individually. They are serious about their philosophy of kindness and inclusiveness for all, while encouraging boys to try new things. It is good, clean fun for boys, and the way summer childhood should be!

At 12yrs, I wanted to send my son to a camp that was more than a week but not the whole summer, as he really was hesitant to go. I believe in providing out of the home experiences for my children to grow. My son was not an exceptional athlete nor a true outdoorsman, so the goal was to find a camp that was run- not by teenagers- but by experienced educators who understood and knew how to challenge boys, while being supportive. I wanted a curated structure that seemed thoughtful and Moosilauke was just that. Sabina and Bill know everything that is happening, are personally connected to the boys and will not only keep you on the loop- but handle all situations skillfully. No need to worry and loads of great- almost daily- photos on the web! My son went as a resistant boy and came back after his 4th year with a strong group of friends, heightened maturity, a willingness to try things he may have opted out of before, more trusted adults in his life and an eagerness to return as a CIT.

This was our 14 yr old’s second Moosilauke summer. He loves this place. Sabina and Bill and the whole staff create an environment that’s welcoming to all kinds of kids. The grounds and location are gorgeous. They’re serious about their philosophy that campers try everything and be supportive of each other. Our son reports that the highlights are: the counselors, overnight camping trips, mountain biking and the food. No electronics for 2.5 weeks and he still had a blast. Our only regret is that we didn’t learn about Moosilauke sooner!

My 11 year old son was anxious about going to sleep away camp. I selected Camp Moosilauke because I wanted a camp that focuses on teamwork, character building and taking risks. I didn't want the usual stress of competitive sports. After 2.5 weeks at camp, he didn't want to come home. The counselors were kind. The activities were a blast. He came home from Camp Moosilauke looking healthy, relaxed and happy.

Absolutely AMAZING camp. My 11 year old son just returned from his second year of the 2.5 week session and is once again begging to do 4.5 weeks. Food was great, sports were amazing, counselors were spectacular. But overall the best part of the camp is the spirit and philosophy. Boys being independent, taking positive risks, supporting each other and enjoying friendship. Thank you, Camp Moosilauke! This is a fantastic overnight camp for boys. My husband and I researched hundreds of camps. We instantly fell in love with Moose when we saw the video on the website about the camp's PHILOSOPHY. The philosophy is so true and very important to help boys grow into fine young men. Our son has gone to Moosilauke for four years. He counts down the days until he is reunited with his Moose brothers. Not only is our son off electronics all summer, but he gains self-esteem and confidence and learns how to take positive risks in land sports, water sports, and mountain adventures. Bill, Sabina, and all the counselors are the scaffolding that support, encourage, nurture and teach the boys how to be their best self. This is truly a wonderful place to send your son. I know my son will continue to enjoy many more summers at Camp Moosilauke. Thank you, Moose for all you do! Moosilauke Parents

As a kid I never went to sleepaway camp so the idea was a little foreign to me when we first decided to sign my 10 year old up. Sabina, Bill and the entire staff were role models and we couldn’t have asked for more. We will be back for sure.

What a wonderful environment for boys! My son has been part of the Moosilauke family since 2014. Here's what comes to mind when I describe Moosilauke....caring, nurturing, building independence and confidence, developing sports and outdoor skills, and just lots of fun! The directors (Bill and Sabina) take EACH boy under their wings and are personally aware of what's going on with each child. The camp day is organized around activities - with a good mix of encouraging the boys to try new things and allowing them to focus on their own areas of interest. My son loves the special trips such as whitewater kayaking and overnight hiking. Moosilauke is about building new friendships and just allowing boys to get away and have fun in an unpretentious outdoor environment. Over the past 6 years, my son has grown and thrived as part of the Moosilauke family!

My son just finished his 6th year at Moosilauke and has loved every moment. It is what camp should be - a place to meet new people, have great outdoor fun, try new things - all in a wonderful nurturing environment very intentionally set by Sabina and Bill and their staff. My son has grown so much as a result of his summers at Moosilauke - encouraged to take risks and trying new things that I know he wouldn't have otherwise done. Every summer has brought on new adventures and experiences that have made his summers so wonderful and fulfilling (all the while growing as an independent young man)! It is the best!

I cannot say enough great things about Camp Moosilauke. It is without a doubt my son's favorite place in the world- he looks forward going back from the moment he leaves. He comes home every summer excited about all the new things he's tried and we see the increased confidence that results. In that regard, the directors and staff are truly excellent at encouraging the boys to try new things and step outside their comfort zone. Take a few minutes to read the Director's blog on the Moosilauke webpage- it sums up their philosophy beautifully.

We left our reluctant 10 year old, crying, on the first day of the 2.5 week session. A 1000 character review cannot possibly summarize how impressed we were with the staff at Moosilauke. The directors assigned a designated "scooper" to help ease the transition, and when that didn't work, took over themselves. Within 2 hours, we had an email from the director. The camp also posted pictures online. We had been told by friends that kids who are having a difficult time would write home everyday. In the entire 2.5 weeks we only received 2 letters! At Moose, boys can be whomever they wish to be. Whether your son is athletic in nature or not, there are anchors at Moose that kids find and gravitate towards. Soccer lovers may not even play soccer because there are so many other exciting choices each day! For example, our son's favorite was arts and crafts! Hiking mountains, camp-wide Olympics and loads of free time to explore and talk were among the other camper favorites. A great choice!

This was our second year at Moosilauke and four days after camp our boys are already counting the days until next summer. Bill and Sabina have created an environment where the boys truly do feel safe to try new things and the children come home beaming with confidence. Our "ball-players" discovered they love windsurfing, canoeing and lacrosse. We also love that campers come from all over the country so our boys have made new friends from NY to CA rather than going away to camp with all the same boys from our region.

This was the first time our son attended an extended sleep away for boys. Camp Moosilauke's did a great job allowing our son to fit in and challenge himself with new experiences. He met many new friends and wants to go back again. That speaks volumes! The independence these young boys get is what this generation needs to pull them away from highly scheduled life and technology.

These are my son's five words about Moosilauke: Adventurous fun outdoorsy sports fishing. Bill and Sabina have a well thought out approach to camp. I love the camping and overnights and the positive approach toward sports and competition. they bring out the best in the kids. We are definitely going back. Thank you camp Moosilauke.

The only thing that is wrong with this camp is the broken relationship with their once sister camp, Merriwood which is located next door on the same piece of land. Different parts of the same family own both camps and, as far as anyone can tell, the owners don't speak. The boys are aware of the bad blood between family members and it creates a terrible and uncomfortable feeling for all when the camps get together. Since all involved in running both camps are , assumedly, adults- I suggest they work out their argument and move on. Childish behaviour does not belong in a summer camp environment.

Moosilauke is a dream for a parent. The boys are "unplugged", experience the outdoors and sports in a safe and uplifting environment without bullying or judgments. New campers are welcomed by existing campers. There is structure but also choice. A wholesome environment with an authentic desire to allow the boys to grow both in terms of their physical as well as their emotional well being. Throughout the summer, the boys are given leadership opportunities and are encouraged to try new things. I couldn't imagine a better place for my son to spend a month.

No one knows boys better than Moosilauke. They are truly experts at instilling confidence, sense of adventure, exposure to nature, and lasting friendships. Everyone is loved and accepted no matter their talent, athletic ability or size. It is a welcoming environment where boys can shine. Our son always comes back more independent and happier. We started when he just turned 8 and he is now 11. We are Moose-ers for life.

Our son completed his first summer at Moosilauke this year, and Moosilauke far exceeded our expectations as parents as well as our son's expectations about sleep away camp. The directors and counselors are fantastic and all hold true to the values of the camp. My son tried all sorts of new activities, met great friends, and loved being up in the beautiful NH mountains. He wears his Moose gear with pride and definitely will be going back next year. We can't recommend the camp and staff enough.

It is nearly October, and still, a few times a week, my seventh grade boy asks me to ask him questions about camp, so he can remember all of the great times and tell me about them. His experience was so amazing that when asked by his grandfather his least favorite memory, he simply said,"leaving camp." I had high expectations for Moosilauke, as I know the owners personally, but my expectations were exceeded. The camp encourages kids to new things in which they will succeed and excel and this confidence building follows the boys back to their lives at home. My son is anxiously awaiting next summer!

My son finished his 4th summer at Moosilauke and like past years, he had a wonderful time. We like the fact that this is a smaller camp and that the kids come from all over, not just the east coast. The boys all get to know each other and the camp is serious about respecting each other and others. And it is the perfect combination of sports and traditional camp activities like hiking and canoeing. I cannot recommend it enough.

My son had a fabulous time at Moosilauke this summer. He went for the 2 1/2 week session and it was his first time at overnight camp. He felt comfortable very quickly and loved the activities and supportive environment. He enjoyed his fellow campers, he loved the down-time activities as well as the multitude of organized activity options and he appreciated the non-competitive but energetic spirit of the camp. He told us immediately after he came back that he definitely wants to go back next year. He wants to go back for the longer session b/c he had such a wonderful time.

The boys came back raving about camp, and they have the following feedback: Certain staff members would be unhelpful when the boys asked questions while learning new sports. This was taken care of by the camp directors and the offending counselor will not be returning. Otherwise everyone was wonderful and engaging. The cabins are a little old, the toilets are "gross", but the showers and beds are great. They loved all the activities and the variety of trips available.

My sons have attended Moose for the last 4 summers. This is a camp where the directors are truly concerned with social-emotional growth and positive peer interaction, rather than providing a three-ring circus. It is a terrific group of directors, counselors, and campers. The activities offered span a huge range, so there is bound to be something that each boy will be good at, as well as a new skill to learn or improve upon. There is a positivity that is palpable when you are on the grounds. My boys have made friends that I imagine they will maintain for a lifetime.

We couldn't have asked for a better place to send our 10-year old son for his first overnight camp experience. When we picked him up at the end of the month, he had the largest smile on his face that we had ever seen. He was carefree, open and so proud to show us around what he considered his home for the summer. He learned that he loved canoeing. He learned that he could run a mile in under 7 minutes. He made friends from around the country and the world. As he explained when he got in the car: "It has taken me years to make the friends I have at home. I made that many friends here in the first week!" Suffice to say, he is coming back next year!

My son attended Moosilauke for the first time this summer (4.5 weeks) after finishing 2nd grade. What a wonderful experience for him! The camp is extremely well run, and the owners really understand what boys need to thrive and develop in a healthy direction. Our son tried new activities and also participated in many traditional sports. The counselors are excellent, facilities meet all needs and are sufficiently rough (it's a camp, not a hotel). Our son is eager to return again and again and we'll definitely be sending him to Moosilauke.

To be brief, Moosilauke is much more than a summer camp; it is a home. On the outside, it may appear to be just another camp, offering traditional sports and basic activities. Only once you see and experience it firsthand can you truly understand the “magic” that happens there. The directors and staff are completely devoted to the wellbeing of each child, and the camp size enables them to have an active relationship with every camper. For boys aged 8-15, Moosilauke not only offers them a place to try new things, but also gives them a place to grow both individually and socially. By focusing less on success and achievement, campers are given the opportunity to communicate and generate relationships with those around them. By the end of your two or four weeks at Camp Moosilauke, you leave with much more than a new group of friends. You leave with a new family, and no matter how many compliments you can give, words cannot describe the impact that Moosilauke has on those who go there. BEST!

I attended Moose between the summers of 2001-06. I have a summer birthday, so my first year it was hard for me to miss out on being home during my 10th birthday and didn't go back the year after, but I immediately missed it and was back again for 4 straight summers after 6th grade. Moose was a phenomenal part of my growing up, and I hope to send my boys there when I have kids. The staff there is so loving, and I cherish the memories of my time there. From my first time hiking up Mt. Cube to canoeing to Hanover, I look back at all of it fondly. In an age where technology is so prevalent, it is great to have a disconnect, even it if is only for a few weeks, to be able to try things you otherwise wouldn't be open to. I still proudly sport my Moosebears shirts from 2001-2006, at least the ones that still fit me. I can't speak for monetary value because my parents were the ones paying, but I have to say it was absolutely worth it, some of the best summers of my life.

My son attended the 2 1/2 week session at moose and I can tell he enjoyed it tremendously. He said it was a wonderul experience and he was able to try all of the things not available in the city. He met many friends that he still talks to during the year. He also highlighted how fun and caring the Moosilauke staff was. He has gone for 2 years and will definetly be attending next summer. As a parent I feel very comfortable leaving my son in the hands of Bill and Sabina.

This was our younger son's 1st overnight camp experience, & before going (despite his older brother's love of Moose), he was not sure if overnight camp was right for him (he loves summers/friends at home). 100%: he had the time of his life. In his own words: "Moose was one of the best times I've ever had in my life". Just yesterday morning driving to school happy about his fall, he spontaneously remembered and reminisced about first meeting his cabin-mates this summer (seasoned moose campers already good friends w/each other), and how genuinely open and friendly they were towards him from day one, telling me: "that's just how Moose is - everyone is so nice all the time." Both our boys have echoed this sentiment repeatedly, that literally, there is no unkindness at camp, and true deep friendships abound there. His last letter home ended with "I'm having a ball. Honestly, I don't know where the time has gone". We couldn't be happier about Moose. It's the opportunity of a lifetime.

My son has attended Moosilauke for the past 2 summers, both years attending the 4.5 week session. He has loved it. As a parent, the whole process was organized and easy, and I was confident that my son was having fun, doing new things, and safe. My son says the staff was attentive and good at their assigned sports. Good trips, good balance of sports and outdoor camp activities (hiking, mountain biking, camping, etc.) Nice facility on a lake. My son had the opportunity to choose what he wanted to do each day but was also encouraged to try new activities like water skiing, sailing, lacrosse, etc. Highly recommended.

Our son has attended Moosiilauke for the past six years. Without question, sending him to Moosilauke was among the very best parenting decisions we have ever made. Our son describes Moosilauke as "the safest, most comforting place in the world." The camp's "secret sauce" is its remarkable culture that empowers boys to take positive risks and makes them feel better about themselves. The camp leadership is caring, thoughtful and VERY involved. Bottom line: Camp Moosilauke has positively contributed to the outstanding young man our son has become.

My son has attended Moosilauke for 8 years now, ever since he was 8 years old. This camp has been an amazing experience for him. His 2nd favorite day of the year is Christmas day, and his 1st favorite is opening day of Camp Moosilauke! He was really young when he first started, and back then the camp was nurturing and terrific for him, and over the years the experiences and activities have grown with him so that he is 15 he is enjoying the intense hiking and camping trips. He really absolutely loves this camp. We highly recommend Camp Moosilauke.

My son just finished his third summer at Moose, and it's been wonderful for him. He's not a perfect fit for the camp, not being very athletic, and he still has had great summers. The Directors urge the kids to explore, and to stretch, and they do. The owners, staff, and ethos of Moosilauke are caring, thoughtful, kind, and absolutely dedicated to the moral development of the kids. And to fun. The facilities are beautiful. I love this place. I have found the Directors and staff tremendously responsive, effective, and wise. Several of the owners/directors are educators, and it shows. They are very much concerned with every aspect of their campers.

My sons love every moment of their time at Moosilauke and arrive home full of smiles and joyful stories about their adventures and the friends they have made. This is what camp should be-- full of fun and adventure and free of pressure, judgement, and technology. Our son just got home from his third summer at Moose and there is no where else he would ever want to be. He calls it his "second home". Bill and Sabina (Directors) know every kid personally (that just doesn't happen at camps with 500 kids). We love how they combine required activities with free choice later in the day. They like to challenge the boys to try new things in a comfortable environment. Lots of inter-camp healthy competition but everyone gets to play. He has met the NICEST boys from all over the country (and a few from Europe and South America) who he keeps in touch with during the year. Moose will always be a special place for our son and our family. I am so very glad we found it!!

Every letter we received from our son could be an ad for Moosilauke. The spirit generated there is electrifying, and he was excited every minute of his stay. The maturity of the leadership is impressive, and allows us to feel comfortable leaving our son in their competent hands. Since we shopped around for camps, we do know that there are camps out there with better facilities (ziplines, climbing walls, etc.), and it's not cheap. But it's worth every penny, and there's so much to do that a 5 in facilities isn't necessary. If your son likes sports and healthy competition, it's worth looking into this camp. We love it.

Moosilauke is a very special place, not only because of it's beautiful location on the New Hampshire/Vermont border, but because of the wonderful staff and amazing directors, Bill, Sabina, Port, Heidi, Ken and Ingrid. They "get it" they understand how to work with boys in a positive and productive manner. Building boy's self confidence and eagerness to try new things. My son lives through the school year to attend Moosilauke every summer. Thanks to the excellent and caring staff he is a more well rounded young man, willing to take a risk and try new challenges. I give Camp Moosilauke MY most treasured possesion each summer, my son, and they give him back to me a little more mature, a little more adventurous, a little more tolerant and a young man filled with joy and pride. I highly recommend Camp Moosilauke - 109 years in the camp business and still a very special and unique gem.

We have 2 sons both of whom attend Moose. It is the highlight of their summer. The owners and staff are exceptional. The camp has a wonderful philosophy of encouraging boys to try new things outside their comfort zone while at the same time spending time enjoying what they love. The activities are perfect for boys. The boys are busy sun up up sun down. They are outdoors all day and active. The excursions off camp are exciting and age appropriate at all levels. It is a great escape from the plugged in world that most boys spend the rest of the year involved in. No electronics, just outdoor and rustic. Oh and the food is great too! The set up of activities is perfect with boys spending the morning in planned activities by age and the afternoon in choice activities. We could not have found a better, kinder, supportive environment for our boys to spend a month away.

Beautiful natural setting, rustic cabins, days filled with fun adventures, delicious, healthy food. The most caring, kind, safe, energetic, compassionate, encouraging, exciting, fair, disciplined, educating while having fun, creative, safety-first, committed, dependable staff one will find. We have been happily recommending Camp Moosilauke to many of our friends and families for years. Moosilauke is a fantastic camp led by wonderful directors and a caring staff. I was very anxious to send my children to sleep away camp but Moosilauke has made the experience unforgettable for both of my children and it has let my own worries ease. My children participate in so many activities each summer including water skiing, hiking, tennis, baseball, etc. Most importantly are the values Moosilauke teaches the boys. My boys have tried activities they would never try at home but they feel safe and encouraged enough at camp to try them. I strongly recommend this camp to anyone looking for an amazing sleep away camp for their children! It is one of the best!

I was a new camper this year at Moosilauke and a had an awsome time. This camp gave me great opportunity's that I could not do anywhere else. What I liked best about the camp is trying new things. I climbed my first mountian here, Mount Moosilauke and a great time doing it. Another thing that I liked is the staff, they were all friendly and understanding. The campers were all really fun also, I got along great with all of them and made a lot of new friends. This camp was not only the highlight of my summer but the highlight of my year and I look forward to coming back next year.

My son just got home today from his first overnight camp experience and he is so happy. Everything about Moosilauke was well done. We were drawn to Moosilauke from the first time we saw its video and the camp and it's directors delivered exactly what they advertised. The setting was idyllic and all the adults seemed competently in control. My son loved the activities, the food, the spirit of the place. I think he really felt part of something and proud of himself for having the nerve to do it. I couldn't be happier with our decision to try Moosilauke.

You only have to hear Bill speak once on the psychology of boys to realize that this camp really knows what its doing. Camp Moosilauke physically hasn't changed much in the over 100 years it has been operating nor over the 40+ years our family has had boys attending. And that is how it should be. Heavy into sports and outdoor/wilderness experiences, this camp remains unplugged (boys have no cell or Internet service and no video/game devices allowed); technology replaced by chants in the dining hall, color war, waterfront sports and camp fires. Boys are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones in a supportive environment. 'Everyone plays' and camaraderie expected. The facilities are rustic and they should be - this is camp! But, as a result, on those cabin walls are carved the names of past campers, long-ago summer crushes, and other camp memories; you can feel the tradition. Our family cannot rate this camp high enough; this chart only allows GOOD but it's GREAT!

My son when to Moosilauke after spending two summers at another sleep-away camp where he had trouble making friends. I worried about sending my son to a new camp where he didn't know anyone but decided to try after meeting Bill and hearing positive comments from other parents. All I can say is that the peer culture at the camp is fantastic! My son came home confident having made a lot of friends. He also really improved his baseball pitching and tennis skills in only 4.5 weeks! The staff is fantastic. The setting gorgeous. A very special place indeed!

This is a fantastic camp with strong values, old fashioned methods and great camp spirit and back- to- basics activities. Strong on sports and wilderness activities in an idyllic setting with a multi-generational family ownership. The leadership is amazing- the owners divide up responsibilities and each in invested in their jobs. They take their responsibilities seriously. Many campers return as counselors. Many families send their children and their children's children. The only negative is that the facilities can be upgraded and it would be nice to have a full summer option utilized by more boys. But it's a perfect balance of an all-boy atmosphere without bullying or machoism and a "sister" camp on the premises which offers both the option of sending siblings to the "same" camp, but separate, and having a girl camp for social life. Not to be missed. A very special place

We could not think of any better way for our boys to spend 21/2 weeks each summer than at the base of Mt Cube on Bakers Pond. Swimming, fishing, boating, playing all sorts of sports and being challanged to try new things in a safe environment while learning priceless life lessons. The Miller family and the staff take their job at Moosilauke very seriously providing tools needed to help these boys grow into responsible well rounded young men. From the moment we pick the boys up they are counting the minutes until they are going back! The pictures provide a snapshot of their daily life while they are away and the weekly newsletter keeps parents updated on everything from what their kids are doing to what they are eating! The stories that are told in the car on the ride home are priceless. My only wish is that they would have a parents camp!

I could say many great things about Camp Moosilauke based on our family's experience over the past four years. This would include the beautiful setting, range of activities, and facilities. However, what sets this camp apart from others is the quality of its management. Running a camp, inspiring young staff members, and recognizing and addressing the physical and emotional needs of boys is incredibly hard work, if the standards are high. It requires dedicated, inspired, and experienced leadership and constant attention to detail. This happens at Camp Moosilauke. I feel fortunate that my boys have experienced this fun, challenging, educational, and nurturing environment each summer.

My boys have attended Camp Moosilauke for 3-4 years now and love it! The philosophy of the Directors in educating boys is phenomenal. Their extensive background in education and management really shows. They take the enterprise and responsibility very seriously. The staff is dedicated and returns year after year (many are former campers or part of the owner's extended family). The balance of competition, nurturing and encouraging the boys to take on new challenges is great. The boys who attend come from a variety of states (even other countries) and are a really nice group. I have not heard any negative things from my boys about their interactions with the other campers. They all love the camp and have such loyalty.

My son is ten and this camp was fabulous. We were looking for a camp which would allow him to just be a boy and learn to enjoy the simple things in life -- and we found it. Moosilauke is free of electronic distraction and all about helping boys become responsible caring members of society. The overarching focus is on creating a community in which boys are responsible, yet having a great time. My son came home in great physical shape and ready to fold his own laundry and take better care of his belongings. I find it to be one of the few places in our modern world that support his character development and provide guidance, as he matures, of how to be a man.

I am a parent of two very different boys. One very smart, but socially insecure and very sensitive. The other is Mr. social. Both love camp. It is a place that pushes them to get out of their comfort zone and take risks, but in a positive and safe environment. This is no-frills camp is a good way. No electronics, no airconditioning, classic New England camp fun for boys. At New Years last year I asked my boys for a higlight of the year. both had experience from camp. It really is a special place.

this is the best camp EVER! I had SOOOOOOOOO much fun there. They have swimming, sailing, water skiing, wake boarding, canoeing, wind surfing, fishing, baseball, tennis, basketball, football, etc. They have everthing, and it is part of my summer vacation.

This camp is for tough kids. The "scholarship" kids (the ones from the Bronx) band together and often pick on the kids from the suburbs. This camp can be a fun experience, but if your child is susceptible to bullies at all, do not send them here - The staff attitude is "suck-it-up".
