This place is heaven on earth. The community of girls and women is so strong. Once you go to Walden you're a Waldenite for life. It's such a special, happy, and magical place.

It would be literally impossible for me to fully describe my camp experience. Walden is without a doubt my favorite place in the entire world. The past six summers have been a true blessing. Walden provides an amazing haven from the real world. The counselors are beyond amazing. I have never met a cooler and more fun group of people in my life. And then there are the campers. Its hard to describe a Waldenite. Its someone who is loyal, caring, generous and dedicated. A waldenite is always willing to share with you, talk to you, or just plain be with you. Walden has truly made me who I am today, more than anything else in the world. I wouldn't know how to be myself if not for these past six summers. Although I can't go back, I know that Walden will always be a part of me. #cherish, does summa nites.

i cant even begin to describe walden. walden is my home. my best friends are at walden. the counslers and so nice supportive and funny and help you through everything, and are amazing in their activies. the food is very good for camp food! :) walden teaches everyone so many valuable lessons for life, there are to many to say. if you are thinking about going to walden, do it! you will not regret it!

I went to Camp Walden for 6 summers and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The girls and counselors at Walden are some of the most amazing and unique people I have ever met in my life. I experienced new activities, parts of maine and mostly about myself. Walden shaped me into the person I am today. I would recommend it for anyone who is looking for a true Maine camp with values and extraordinary activities, experience & friendships. Thank you Walden, for not only providing me with the best 6 summers of my life, but friendships and values that I know will be with me for the rest of my life.

Amazing doesn't even begin to describe what this camp is. It is full of laughter, unity, so many inclusive people, love, and so many traditions that make you hungry for more. The songs, and endless activities and traditions, especially the people, are what makes the camp special. This camp is for anyone; it is so AWESOME! The friendships and memories I have made will stay with me forever. At first, I was scared of the idea of going to a sleepover camp. Now, when we leave, I cry. It is unbelievable how this camp has changed me. I love every single person there, and I can't wait to see them all again. B11 2012. <333EAO!

Camp Walden has been a very bad experience for me personally. While I love the activities at walden, the people have been awful. I used to think that I had such great friends at walden. But all of the girls are very cliquey and when I went home this year, the girls started to cyber bullying me and shun me when we would see each other. My best friend ditched me and I don't think I will be going back. The camp though does have wonderful activities. The food is okay and the waterfront is gorgeous. Their fields and basketball courts though could be majorly improved. There is no electricity in the bunk, and people are very judgmental of how much money you have and what clothes you wear. To fit in at warden you have to be like everyone else and never say anything when you are being excluded. The only good staff are the returning counselors. I would reccomend this camp to someone who wears the same thing as everyone else. I hope everyone's walden experiences are better than mine have been.

I would not be the person I am today if it weren't for camp walden. Choosing to attend walden was the best decision I've ever made in my life. Walden taught me the meaning of true friendship. I will never forget the things I learned from walden, the life-changing experiences I had, and the friends I made (whom I will remain close to forever). Walden is the greatest place on earth

After going to a different camp for four years, Walden was exactly the thing I needed to regain some self confidence lost at my previous camp. The staff are the sweetest and truly become like friends. The girls are THE BEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD! They are all nice and are my best friends ever! Sure, the facilties aren't perfect, but those who go to Walden don't want them to be changed. It would, in a way, ruin Walden's charm. I love WALDEN! EAO BUNK 12 2010!

Walden made me the person I am today. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to go to Walden for six summers. My camp friends and still my closest friends more than a decade after our last summer. I hope one day I will have daughter(s) who will become Waldenites too.

Went to Walden for 7 yrs in the 90's and was a counselor in 05 and 06. It is my favorite place in the world. Just as stated below me in other comments, walden made me who I am. Coming from the south, it also allowed me to experience things that I never would have been able to. My sister went as well and it brought us closer together. I still keep in touch with people from my first summer in 1991. Thank you, Waldem, for the most amazing summers of my life.

Camp Walden has become a significant part of who I am today. The Honor System and amazing friendships made it one of the most wonderful experiences of my entire life. Walden's activities were great -- I learned so much, broadened my skills, and felt my confidence increase exponentially. I am still in contact with my friends from Walden, and return there whenever I can. It is a place rich with history and tradition, with a big loving heart. I can't wait to send my daughter there for her Bunk 12 year in 2021! EAO!

I went to Walden for five summers and am a third generation camper. I can honestly say that I would not trade my experience for anything. The girls I met at Walden became some of my closest friends and made me into the person I am today. The camp's central focus on the "honor system" creates a tight-knit community and emphasizes the importance of honesty, cooperation, trust and respect. Although the food and facilities are less than five star quality, this allows for materialism to greatly fall away and campers are able to truly gain all the benefits of friendships, activities, and Walden's rich traditions.

Walden is more than just a summer camp, it's a family. Girls in my family have been spending their summers at Walden for three generations, which should make quite the statememt as to how incredible this camp is. At Walden, you aren't just taught to hike, swim, water ski, and so on (although your days are filled with those fun activities and many more), but you are taught about honor, respect, and integrity. Meanwhile, as girls return to camp year after year, you leave with friendships that will literally last you a lifetime.

I spent a total of 9 summers at Camp Walden - 5 as a camper in the 90s, and 4 as a counselor in the 2000s. I feel like it will take a lifetime to even begin to articulate, let alone integrate, what an invaluable impact and tremendous influence Camp Walden has had on my life. How I understand myself, interact and collaborate with others, and negotiate a sense of self with and in the world at large. The values, traditions, friendships, and experiences presented and provided by Camp Walden are profound and unique. There are few places that allow a young girl to cultivate such a strong sense of self and ability to be truly independent and ambitious. That said, it is important - when choosing a camp for any child - that the space be the right fit. For me, and hundreds of women before me, and girls to come and presently there, Walden is a magical fit.

I was a camper at Walden from 2000 to 2005 and loved every moment. The activities and trips are great but, more important, the friendships formed (which still last every bit a strongly four years later) and the confidence and independence gained are invaluable. Walden is a non-competitive camp run based on Honor System, both of which allow being a good, nice person and being a friend to be more important than perfecting a tennis serve or becoming a stellar horseback rider (although one can certainly play a good deal of tennis and ride horses.) If that does not appeal to you, Walden clearly is not the right camp for you. However, if you want a camp of friendships, century-old traditions, songs, and independence, Walden is the best camp in the world.

If you want a camp that imparts good values, teaches girls how to be happy, and where your daughter will make wonderful lifelong friends, then Walden is paradise! It is the best thing that ever happened to my daughter!

This camp is absolutley horrible. They make you sleep in tiny bunks with no privacy at all, along with 10 other people. The showers barely work so everyone smells horrible. The activities stink and nobody really wants to participate in them. The counslers for the activities knew nothing about the activitie they were coaching. The food could make you throw up, they claim they have options for everyone because they have a salad bar, but the salad bar has limp, brown veggies. The nurses haven't got a clue and can't help you if your sick. They force you to participate in sports you really dont want to play, and swim in the discusting garbage filled lake when its cold outside. The outdoor trips are even worse, they make you sleep in gross, wet tents that smell and are clasterphobic. The girls are really jappy and are mean to everyone who didn't have family members who went to this camp. They dont care about anyone being happy there, only about looking good to parents. I looooooooooove this camp!!! it's my home!!!! It's such an amazing place, all the people there are so nice and the campers and counsalers really make you feel welcome and happy there. I don't think I'd be the same person if I didn't go to this camp, it's such a great place to grow and be your own person, while having fun at the same time. I consider every girl in my age group there one of my sisters, because we are that close. I've been going here for four summers and I'm always so excited to go back, it is my absolute favorite place, with all the fun traditions and all the special moments.

Number rating could never express what Walden is about. It's not about fancy facilities or intense training (excluding the phenomenal tennis and horseback riding). I would not be the same person if it was not for this camp. The values I learned through the honor system and traditions are values that will stay with me my entire life. All of the girls there are down to earth, open, and unique. If it were not for Walden, I would not be the same confident, unique individual I am today. The values instilled in me at Walden have helped me through life immensely, including high school and college. Traditions, old and new, have been continued for centuries, including the camp fires and dining hall singing. Going back to visit and seeing the camp exactly the same, but with new spirited, bright individuals makes me happier than any glitz a country club-like camp could buy. If your daughter goes there and gives it a chance, she will be grateful for life. EAO

This camp just really confuses me. I don't think that they hire very great staff for the activites that they work in. Some of the girls are very awkward and make you feel kind of uncomfortable a) becuase they are too comfortable (aka walking around the bunk NAKED) and b) they don't really talk and you kind of feel bored. Just a very weird strange camp.

not the right place for my daughter, she didn't make friends, and wasn't assisted by the counselors in the least. they didnt seem to know how to help her...it was frustrating and sad for me as a parent not to be able to help her when she was so far away. maybe good for some people, but if your daughter needs that little extra bit of attention, you should probably look elsewhere.

I go to walden and it is AMAZING!! all of my friends are so nice and i had the best camp sister ever. i made all of my friends on the first night of camp and we are all practically sisters now. EAO EAO! walden is the most amazing experience! you should consider sending your daughter here, it has been the best experience in my life. everyone is so nice and the counselors are amazing! the activites are so fun and the food is really good. you should totally check it out!
