This camp is extremely poorly managed. The director is immature and unprofessional. Everything at camp is unorganized, for some of the counselors that teach swim lessons don't even know how to swim, the lunches are barely edible, and the activities are never fun and always unorganized. It's such a pity because the campgrounds are beautiful, but the camp itself is so poorly ran it's not even worth spending your money here. More and more people I know have stopped sending their kids there because they do not have a good time and they are treated poorly by the director. If you want what's best for your kids, spend the extra money and send them to banner, Apache, or just a park district.

Camp Henry Horner is truly a magical place to spend the summer. As a staff member for seven years I feel lucky to be a part of this camp family. Camp has let me grow as a person, supervisor and as an educator. Through the staff development I have improved mu communication and leadership skills in a fun, safe and friendly environment. From the lake to the pool to the ropes course and everything in between Henry Horner's main goal is to provide all children with a safe, exciting and amazing summer. How lucky am I to say that Henry Horner did that for me as a child and now as an adult as well!

This camp has been apart of my life as far as I can remember providing me with experiences and people who have shaped me who I am today. I'm lucky to have been a camper and employee at camp. The work camp does is fantastic and helps kids get outside of their comfort zone in a safe, warm, family-style environment. As a employee I felt encouraged to develop positively in a loving culture that gave me endless opportunities for growth. I don't regret one second I've spent at this camp and I am extremely thankful for everything it has given and taught me.

Camp Henry Horner is my Families favorite place to be! The Director, Isaac, gives out his cell phone number and makes families feel comfortable and children welcome! As a Mom of young children, this is the ONLY Summer Camp for my family! Thumbs Up!!

I have had experience with this camp for two years now and I absolutely love it. The staff are incredibly welcoming, helpful and EXCITED to be working with the campers. I like that this camp offers day and overnight camp options where campers can truly grow and gain lasting friendships, skills and camp memories. The lake, pool, zip line, ropes courses, and countless activities offered have my campers overwhelmingly excited to return each summer. I love CHH's smaller, family-like feel and I know that no camper will feel lost here. It's such a friendly environment and what better way to foster friendships and growth than through a summer camp? I can confidently say that you won't regret sending your children to this camp.

Camp Henry Horner has given me more than a decade of amazing experiences. I have attended as both a camper and counselor. During the school year, I work in education. Recently, a student of mine asked me: "What is your favorite place on earth?" Surely you can guess the answer at this point, but for those of you wondering, it's CHH. Some of the reviews featured on this site are appalling. Camp Henry Honer can offer a camper, or counselor, an unforgettable experience for 8 weeks each summer. The staff at this camp, from top to bottom, are incredibly passionate, creative, and devoted to making every summer as memorable as possible. These next few sentences will address some people's issues with the facilities and their cleanliness. IT'S A SUMMER CAMP. Chill. Not everything is pristine. But what is used by campers, I can assure you, is cleaned diligently and on a very regular basis. If you have the opportunity to be at CHH you would be wise to take it. That decision is impossible to regret

Camp Henry Horner has been apart of my life for the past 14 summers. There are always the counselors that you or a camper isn't going to get along with, but almost all of the staff connects with one another and their campers. Do some of the facilities need a revamp? Yes, but it's camp. It wouldn't be camp if it wasn't the way it was. I love this place and if you want to work in a woodsy area, then this is the place to go. If you want your child to have a true camp experience, then you're going to the right place. Not many kids these days play outside without their electronics in hand. But here they would get the chance to run around and have a run time outside. You're only a kid once, why not be a kid at one of the best places out there.

Think twice before working or camping here. It's not as great as it looks on paper. Horrible, unhealthy, disgusting facilities. Management is unorganized, unprofessional, and unreasonable. There are far nicer camps that treat their STAFF and CAMPERS better at a much lower fee with nicer facilities. Parents and potential employees, please think twice before committing to Camp Henry Horner!

Worse summer camp I have ever worked at. The staff are treated awful. The director will hire internationals in to do a certain job and then mid way through he will force them to do two jobs and tell them they have no choice. There are no morals and values from the higher ups and director himself.

I will not send my children here or recommend any one to work here until Isaac Brubraker no longer works at camp. He is lazy, disrespectful, rude and unprofessional. Camp Henry Horner was a great place before he took over, but it will be awful until he leaves.

STAFF EXPERIENCE: Do not work here. I repeat, do NOT work here. They are so disorganized! Try having to plan for classes a week in advance but not getting the schedule until after your first class of the week gets there. It isn't a good system for the campers and it definitely ins't a good system for the staff. Think twice before sending your kids here and think at all about working here.

The staff here are great. Everything else? Not so much. The facilities are terrible! Don't believe me? Check out the showers in the bath house behind the kitchen. Yes, your children are expected to shower in those. (If you don't have time to tour, imagine years of mold and dirt left to sit and slowly climb its way up the walls. They do not clean anything there.) The organization is appalling. No one talks to anyone in senior staff. This causes so many problems and really is frustrating for children AND counselors. For how much this camp costs, you are better off sending your child ANYWHERE else. Unless management seriously changes, you're wasting your money on this camp.

Camp Henry Horner is my favorite place to go every single summer. I have been going for 11 summers now and have a blast every single year. Each week we go on a field trip to different places, so that makes it exciting. We sometimes ocasionally have overnighters which are my absolute favorite at CHH. The staff are amazing and many come from England and Australia which makes it fun to learn new things about them. The food is great especially the pasta on Fridays! The pool, lake, and ropes course are my favorite things to do. My one suggestion is that they should redo the bathrooms. I try not to spend much time in there. Other then that THIS CAMP IS AMAZING. I have made my best friends here.

It is a pretty good camp. It is a really big camp but it has many many different fun activites. Like horner idol, green and white day, the Olympics and many more. The only thing I don't like about the camp is that it is a 45 minute drive down there. I love the staff the r so nice .

CHH is my favorite place in the world. Spent 4 years as a camper and made new friends that are now my best friends. The staff is fantastic, and you stay in touch with the overseas staff that you became friends with. So much to do, this place is the best.
