I had high hopes for this camp. Unfortunately my child did not have a good experience here.

I have attended this camp for 15 years and it significantly changed my life for the better. It made me more open, more comfortable with myself, more outgoing and more independent. I felt that I could explore my religion at my own pace and didnt feel pressured to fit any sort of religious role. It is truly a jewish camp for kids not a camp for jewish kids. I felt loved and appreciated. I cannot speak highly enough of this camp.

This camp scarred me for life. The staff was completely intolerant because I'm atheist. The kids were just as bad, if not worse. The food was revolting. Garbage tastes better than the food they serve at this camp. The bathrooms and lodging facilities are old and disgusting. All in all, this place is NOT worth the time and money so don't even bother.

I went to this camp as a kid, teen, and worked there twice. I like it a lot but I have to say that the description is wrong, it is not a traditional camp. Color war is sort of a joke, sessions are 2 weeks long, it just does not have a traditional camp feel (I now work elsewhere which is actually a very traditional camp). JCA is a good place to send your kid if you just want to give them (or yourselves) a 12 day break while letting them make some new friends and learn about Judaism.

The photo specialists at this camp are amazing! I love the awesome sideshows they make every session and how they put tons of totally rad pictures up on the website for our parents to see. The rest of camp is awesome too! JCA is just BETTER!

I love this camp so much because of all the awesome musical performances: in just one summer we had Rick Recht, The Israeli Scout Caravan, some people from Darfur, AND Robbo. This camp is the beat camp ever! The only way it could be better is if we had an omelet bar once a week for breakfast. CARAVAN: BA, BA, BA, BA, BA, BAAAAA!!!! Bar is BEST!

I will be going back to JCA for what will be my 9th summer this year. I wouldnt dream of working any other place! It truly is a magical place and provides a safe haven for kids to grow and gain independence. I am still in touch with the kids I met as a camper and long to provide my cabins with the same amazing memories that I walked away with. Camp JCA provides more than just a place to retreat, its a second home to campers and counselors alike, we as staff look forward to summer just as much (if not more than) the kids do.

This camp could not be more amazing. Coming back there each summer makes you wonder how you could have ever left in the first place. It holds a very special place in my heart and always will, the people I have met there and the things I have learned there are what I can always count on when ever I need them. I could go on about just how much it has changed me and shaped me into a better person. I love it more than anyone could ever imagine, and JCA is without a doubt the most amazing camp out there!

This is the best camp ever! JCA is like a giant ice cream sundae with lots of different toppings like whipped cream, nuts, marshmallow sauce, and 50 cherries, but it doesn't have any calories. It's that good. You can have as much as you want and you will never get fat.

Camp JCA Shalom is a home away from home for my children. From the counselors on up this camp is first rate. The location is beautiful and rustic just as a camp should be. My children brought home a strong sense of community, and an appreciation for the enviroment. My children would never think of attending another camp.
