Picked up my kids there and was shocked at the conditions of the washrooms and cabins. Facilities are run down.

The cabins are pretty gross, and if you want to have shower, you'll have to go to a separate place full of bugs. The councillors are terrible; occasionally you have an awkward situation where the campers are better than the staff. The faculty, however, are awesome, and I can't figure out why any of them would want to continue teaching there.

I have attended as camper and am on my 4th year as staff. I love the intensive music instruction, I think the band/orch/jazz programs are run very effectively, but feel the guitar and MT programs need some work. Guitar seems a little removed from everyone else. The MT program is undergoing major renovations currently, as the latest director has been detrimental to the program, regardless what some may say. She had very little regard for her staff, not bothering to learn names, and resorts to bullying to get things done her way. It is ineffective and just creates more MT campers with the same mentality. Since we are on the Wahanowin site, many of the problems belong to them. I believe the majority of staff that stay on from Waha are tired out by mid-August and do not give their all. They have often have foul mouths around the campers, smoke near the cabins, and do not keep their mouths shut on certain topics. The buildings are unsanitary and food is bad. Waha needs a going-over.

It is an amazing camp. At first I was very hesistant to attend, but it turned out to be great. You are able to improve musically a lot and there is always something to strive for. The kids there are fun and easy to make friends with (no popular cliques or people putting you down). I personally like the food there but some people dislike it. However tuck is always great for a snack! I've gone there for 3 years and I plan to attend one more year before hopefully becoming a counselor. I definately recommend this camp to anyone who loves music, whether you can play well or are just learning. Awesome place to have fun and make life-long friends!

There's a definite learning curve here. The first year I was there, I learned a helluvalot. The second year, I learned a fair bit. The third year, I didn't learn much. There wasn't a fourth. The facilities vary from pristine to ramshackle; Big Barney's pretty modern, but we had ants in our cabin ceiling. The councillors... the rec staff are excellent, but the music staff are selected for musical ability, which makes them great to learn from, but perhaps not suited to handling campers. The food is a mixed bag: when they stick to camp classics, it's excellent, but when they try and do modern things, it's disasterous: the "Chinese food" was particularly nasty. As to activities, it shows that Waha doesn't get many campers over 15: as an older student, I despised evening programs, and I wasn't alone, but everyone was still shanghai'd into showing up. The value for money's pretty darn good, but Interprovincial Music Camp seems better on the whole.
