CHIMNEY IS THE BEST EVER!! Don't listen to any of the bad reviews because really, they just aren't true! One year I almost left mostly because of my anxiety and the staff convinced me to stay, and I ended up loving my cabin and having the best time! It can take a little time to get to know people in your cabin, but everyone is literally the nicest. I'll be traveling a lot next summer and can't come to camp, but I wish I could! I hope to see you next year!:)

My daughter goes to Chimney Corners Camp and I can't speak highly enough of their staff and values. I love that it is an all girls camp, and that there is no technology.

Do not go here. This is a place that promotes exclusion. The staff are not caring and don't listen. Activities are not fun, food is bad. 3 summers here in Tinui and Sunit and no more for me. Hated my cabin every year and counselors did little to help. Only "popular" kids are liked. Find a better camp.

I attended this camp for two years. I struggled the first year because I am a very socially anxious person and being constantly surrounded by people was stressful. There is a bit of a toxic positivity problem. Often when I was sad I would be told things like PACE (positive attitude changes everything) instead of being helped. My councilors and cabin mates were very nice, and I enjoyed the activities, so I came back. The next year I was in the adventure odyssey cabin. We got to do some many incredible things. That year my sister attended camp. She was bullied by her cabin mates. She told the staff but not much was done. During family visits, she went home. When talking to Shannon about this decision she says Shannon made her feel very guilty about wanting to leave. It’s a good camp, but not perfect.

The staff don't pay attention to the troubles I'm in. I'm going through rough times and I thought camp would help. Instead I was bullied, injured and crying a lot. The staff didn't care. The activities were boring and I never want to go back again.

My daughters have been attending CCC for the past few summers. Pros: friendships with a diverse group of enthusiastic kids, counsellors who care, and fun activities that keep them so busy they don't have time to be homesick or bored. Campus facilities are summer-camp bare bones, as are most of the activities - which is what we wanted. Some cabins are new & gorgeous, while others show their years. Cons: mother-daughter weekend is an exhausting, thinly-veiled fundraising event, where there really is no unscheduled time to simply enjoy catching up with your child. They should limit this to a one-day family visiting day, which would be more inclusive and much less burdensome on the rest of the family. and last but certainly not least, the program cost is prohibitively high, especially in comparison to equivalent NE camps.

As a former Chimney camper, I was excited to send my daughter here for her first camp experience. While I will say the staff is great and enthusiastic, the camp itself is still on the tired side and lacks the wow-factor that we were hoping for. The waterfront is off the beaten path, very small and activities are just ok. My daughter had to choose 10 total, and received her bottom 6. I attended a day of activities w/her which were completely sub-par and non-eventful. While her two counselors were nice girls(17 and 19), myself and a few of the other parents agreed they lacked the enthusiasm we were hoping to see, for overseeing eight , 8/9 yr old girls. One of the girls was extremely homesick and needed to be derailed from that. Her counselor was in laying in bed and the girls mom had to plead for assistance. The camp overall is "ok" however we will look elsewhere for next year to get more for our $$ spent.

This camp has changed my life. I spent my first summer at Chimney Corners Camp last summer. I made friends that I would have never made if I hadn't gone and I felt, for the first time in a long time that I could truly be myself 1000%. The staff were amazing and the best role models I could have asked for. I am seeing these bad reviews and I can't even believe them because this camp is truly amazing. There is a vibe here that is truly unexplainable. The activities were well thought out and fun, the staff is trained well and they always know how to comfort a sad camper. I urge you to send your child here. Their life will be changed forever!!

The tagline of Becket/Chimney Corners is "Changing Lives for Good." What it should be is "We Don't Change with the Times." This camp is completely insensitive to how families have changed over the past 60 years. They still operate as if it were the 1950s when families were typically compromised of a mom and a dad. Of course this is much less the case today when families are often led by two moms, two dads or a single parent. Nevertheless, Becket and Chimney Corners refuse to acknowledge this change and forbid male parents of girls and female parents of boys to attend their mom's and dad's weekends. While most forward looking organizations are working to find ways of being inclusive, these camps are standing still and even worse discriminating against non-traditional families. If this type of attitude prevailed in overall society, we would still have segregated schools and there would be no same sex marriage. The leadership of these two camps should be ashamed of themselves.

My son just returned from his first summer at Camp Becket. As he was making his own breakfast this morning his comment was, "Camp Becket has taught me to be more responsible." He has ADHD and life is not always easy for him. His counselors were understanding and supportive and great about communicating with us. He can't wait to go back next year!

Camp Becket/Chimney Corners discriminates against gay/lesbian/single parent families by requiring that family members be of the same sex as the camper in order to attend their Dad's/Mom's weekends.

Oh god. I literally cannot begin to describe the heaven which is Chimney Corners. I just got into the camper exchange program, and although it's only my third summer coming up- it is literally my second home and favorite place in the world. The friends I have made will stay with me forever, the counselors like older sisters, the campus- beautiful and well kept, the activities helpful and engaging, the songs- loud and proud, and the overall spirit- irreplaceable. If you have a daughter who is interested in summer camp- point them this way. My only regret with the camp is not going earlier, that's why I convinced my mom to take my 8 year old sister for the first time this summer. She loved it and is returning!! I literally can't stress enough how magical CCC is.

This is an amazing camp for girls that focuses on traditional values and allows girls to learn who they are. The older campers and staff are great role models for the younger girls and teach them the confidence to be silly and be themselves. Of all the things I have done as a parent for my daughters, I know that this is the best thing I can do for them. They have grown inside into wonderful caring girls with self confidence , respect and empathy for others that will be a foundation for them the rest of their lives. They also have alot of FUN !

Where do I begin? Last summer was my first year at Chimney. At the time, I was twele and really nervous about finding friends/being homesick. I had never been away from my parents for more than a week. When I got to Chimney, they welcomed me with opened arms! I had a good mix of girl who had been going for 7 years and girls who had never gone in my cabin.! I made COUNTLESS friends from all over the country!! Some were just like me and some were polar opposites. The food was homey and delicious, the staff was great, the spirit is something you can only find at Chimney. Honestly, in only 4 weeks i learned about friendship, hard work, kindness and enthusiasm, and it really changed my life. Although I will only be going to my second summer, i have already convinced my seven year old sister to go, so she can go and not miss all the years i did. I found my second home, and a second family at CCC!!

Chimney Corners in the Berkshires is my home away from home. It is the best summer camp I have ever gone to and it changed my life. I love all the people I met there, campers and counselors alike, and I keep in touch with them all year round. Chimney Corners is a place where you can be your best self and have the time of your life. I have gone there for two summers now and I could not have been happier anywhere else in the world. I recommend Chimney to girls of all ages with all my heart.

Wow, where to start. How about when I skinned my entire leg while playing basketball and then got called a wimp by my counselor when I asked to go to the nurse and then my swim instructor made me swim with it. How about the snobby kids? Overpriced much? Or the other crap counselors? At least I could hide from everything in the library.

I just finished my Aides summer at Becket (an LIT program) and the past 8 and 1/2 weeks have been the best of my life. The tradition of over 100 years is prevalent in everyday life, which gives this camp character. The facilities are great, the food is amazing, and most importantly the people are incredible. The staff all have history as campers then LITs, which makes the staff/camper relationships so very unique. The bonds that are formed here are lifelong. I love this camp and everything that it stands for. Becket onwards

Staff: The staff are former campers, they are qualified, they love camp and they pass that on to the campers. . . . Facilities: The cabins are rustic and comfortable, the lake is clean, the ropes course is amazing, the barn has adorable animals, perfection. . . . Activities: The activities are varied and taught by experts, you come away every summer with newfound skills and passions developed in activities. . . . Personal Attention: I've never encountered another place that values each individual more than Chimney, you are taken care of and loved for who you truly are. Every willing individual feels a part of the Chimney family. . . . Monetary Value: Priceless, if I had to pay $10,000 to go to CCC every summer, I would. . . . There is no better gift I have received than my summers at Chimney Corners Camp.

The Staff at the camps are incredible because of the extensive leadership training programs to guide campers from being campers to being staff. This creates a community at camp unmatched by any other because all of the counselors have been to camp as campers. They always have the utmost spirit and care for the campers and the camp. Counselors pay very close attention to the dynamics in their cabin and work hard to fix problems that may arise. Program areas offer many opportunities to campers, with archery ranges, ropes courses, lovely waterfronts, wood shops, and much more at both camps. Cabins are rustic yet comfortable, in beautiful natural locations. Both afternoon activities and cabin/unit activities are always so much fun! The values that this camp is based on are what really set this camp apart- the emphasis on acceptance and embracing life create an incredible camp experience. PLEASE send your children to these camps- they will have a great time.

My sister went in the 80's & said it was life-altering. I sent my kids (girl9/boy11) for the first time & life-altering is an understatement. My daughter is quiet, reserved & was HORRIBLY homesick the first 3 days but the kids, staff & program worked it's magic & now she doesn't ever want to leave! I just returned from Mom's weekend & she is confident, responsible, GLOWING! The girl power & positive vibe is palpable. Becket is no different. My skeptical/negative ex-husband returned from Dad's weekend a converted groupie. My boy is more cerebral & musical than sporty & he says he's coming EVERY year for EVER. Good thing we got a scholarship, but if we didn't I'd get 10 jobs & pay twice the $. True testament is 80% of staff are former campers & 100% donate a portion of their meager salary to the scholarship fund. The independence, morals, confidence & virtue extolled at Becket/Chimney is priceless. It's childhood Nirvana! An alternate reality DOES exist. Drink the Kool-Aid! Fantastic!

I will be completely honest; this camp is not perfect. However, the flaws are so few that it is very unlikely that you will find a better camp experience. I would not be exaggerating to say that this camp changed my life. I had always been self conscious, and I was constantly upset about my image and my flaws. Chimney Corners does what middle school didn't; it embraces expression, and it proves that people love you for who you are, and it doesn't fall into the trap of creating pretenses of what you should be. Every year in the limited time frame, I establish friendships that are the closest I will ever come to sisterhood; I love the girls just as much as my close friends at home that I have grown up with, and I trust them much more. The atmosphere is indescribable in its warmth and availability. I can say with conviction that the days I've spent here have been some of the best of my life.

Before Chimney, one would have never thought me to be the one who goes to sleepaway camp for one, or sometimes two sessions. My first summer I was eleven years old, going into sixth grade, and VERY shy, so choosing to spend my summer there was probably the boldest and smartest decision i have made so far. Chimney Corners is truly a special place. It really helped me step out of my shell and comfort zone. The staff there truly love what they do and are incredibly enthusiastic, especially towards the campers. This really reflects on the campers as there are minimal cliques and no judgement, so you are not afraid to just be yourself :) Because of this camp this once shy little eleven year will be spending five weeks with ICEP Peru and will be applying to be and AIDE next summer. This camp is turly life changing and I recommend it to anyone who would like to make life long friends, as well as have the summer of his (for Camp Becket) or her life.

I have two children who currently attend Becket/Chimney Corners. I, myself attended and was a member of the staff. My brother and two sisters also attended the camps and all of us are in agreement that these are two excellent camps. The camps focus more on how to get along rather than how to compete. They teach you how to live your live as an individual, a member of a family group, and a member of a community at large. The camps are beautifully situated in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts and both have their own lakes. There are loads of activities for individual or team participation. I have a very soft part of my heart for these camps and it gives me great pleasure that my children are enjoying themselves as much as I did. I highly recommend either Camp Becket or Camp Chimney Corners to anyone looking for a summer for their children where they can live in a natural environment, learn a bit about themselves and getting along with others, and just having a great time!

1000 words is not enough to explain what BCCYMCA can do for people. I spent 10 summers at Chimney Corners--six as a camper, one on a YTP program, one as an Aide and two as a counselor. This camp builds kids into strong, confident, people who truly believe in doing what's right. The staff return year after year to give back to camp what it gave them, but they continue to learn. This is not a fancy camp--this is a camp where you learn what it means to be a good friend, how to help and respect others, and how to be yourself. The community reaches back so many generations, and there's a good reason why: the women who went to Chimney Corners want their daughters and granddaughters to experience the magic too. In a beautiful, rustic setting, with your best friends by your side, you learn what it really means to be happy with yourself, and that is a rare thing for kids today. Easily the most formative months of my life were my summers at Chimney.

My sister and I were CCC campers in the 70s, my brother attended Camp Becket, and we always looked forward to returning. There was a lot of excitement in the car as we drove back to camp and I still remember many of the songs. We would run through the repetoire on our drive! Currently my niece and nephew attend CCC/Becket and are having a great experience. It was lovely to tour the camp a few years ago and observe all the changes made since I was a camper. One of the neatest things about touring both of these camps is the culture - immediately apparent as campers and staff members greeted us during our walk. We had wonderful guides for our tours - former campers who had become staff members in both cases. Campers (and former campers) return to CCC/Becket over and over because of the culture. The expectations that the Becket/Chimney Corners YMCA organization has for developing and maintaining a supportive and caring community are top notch.

I was on staff at Becket for 7 summers and currently have two boys attending for their second year. Becket was a significant force in helping to shape me. Friendships I made thirty years ago remain strong because of the bonds and shared experiences from Camp Becket. My sons are having a similar experience. The camp facilities are rustic but very top shelf. There is no power in the cabins, which adds to the sense of camping. Traditions abound as this is one of the oldest continually running camps in the nation. The staff and campers are extreamly diverse, internationally and ethnicly. Although run by the YMCA, all creeds are welcome and feel at home in the basic values of the "Becket Way". Becket is not for everyone, but the majority of kids love it. Super jocks may want more intense sports. Becket is about playing the game, not winning - but the kids win a lifetime of memories. Dad's weekend, a major tradition, allows fathers to spend a weekend sharing the experience.

Chimney Corners has been my home away from home for 9 years. As a camper, aide, and staff member, CCC has helped me grow as a friend, a team member, and a leader. Chimney helps girls become independent and self-confident while teaching them to have a positive attitude and find the fun in everything. Its facilities provide something for everyone and its staff provide positive role models for campers. I will, without a doubt, be sending my daughters to CCC one day.

I think most of the bad reviews that are all 1s are mostly from chimney, chimney is amazing, but everything about becket is the most amazing thing in the world. people who have all one's are few, and obviously had a bad time because of bad connection with staff or cabin mates, but that is exteremly rare, when i firrst went to becket 6 years ago...it changed my life. i could never even think about leaving. becket has amazing optipons besides regualr summer camp such as the youth travel programs wich can take kids accross the world. bottom line about becket is BECKET IS MORE THAN A CAMP ONCE YOU GO..-YOU HAVE A SECOND FAMILY.-

I was a camper and staff member at Becket, & am therefore obviously and unabashedly biased, but would like to add one anecdote. Over the years I have become friends with many people who went to many other camps - some great, some good, some bad. Never, NEVER, have I met another person who feels such a connection to their summer camp as the one I have maintained to Becket throughout my adult life. More importantly, I have never met anyone else who feels that their camp has had as important and positive a role in their lives as Becket has had on mine. Camp is not for everyone and no camp is perfect, but Becket is unique, and the older I get, the more true this holds. Most camp counselors at Becket were campers too, who come back to impart the same values and provide campers with the same experience that their counselors provides to them. It is not just a summer job for most counselors, but something they would rather be doing than anything else. Campers knows this & appreciate it.

Everything about this camp is just perfect. The staff are not only hilariously funny and outgoing, but they really do care about and spend time with the campers. Going to Camp Becket has changed my life. The Becket Way is a lifestyle, something that I have taken with me outside camp for the past 8 years and counting. I would not change one thing about my camp experiences. This place is definitely one in a million.

This was my 3rd summer at camp becket and as soon as we left the gate I said "I am going to be here the rest of my life" This is not just a summer camp. This is a environment where differences and the instabilities of the outside world are dropped and all people can be friends and enjoy the beauties of nature in a loving caring environment. This summer as well as my other summers were the best of my life and I plan on enjoying this gift for as long as I live

Many of these reviews seem planted, because while BCC is nice enough and a good value, it is far from great. The girls seem very nice on the whole. The facilities are decent but the fun activities seem a bit oversubscribed. Tough for kids to get in to the activities they want. Also staffing seems light and the Lake is only available on a limited basis for swimming. There seems to be a big lice problem here. Last year, 5 of 8 of my daughter's bunkmates got lice, and this year she has another bunk mate with lice. The long time campers report big lice outbreaks every year. The worst part in my mind is that it is a camp requirement that all mom's attend "mom's weekend" which involves a 2 night camp out in a tent with your child. Rain or Shine. It is lovely for bonding but camping is not for everyone; yet if you do not participate your kid will feel left out since they really pressure moms into coming. Unless you are up for the 2 day camping thing I would find another place.

I was a Chimney camper for three years during middle school, and went on TLS (one of the service trips for teens). I was an awkward, nerdy kid at that age and had difficulty making friends back in school. At Chimney, I got a clean slate - an opportunity to make friends, to develop self-confidence, and to learn more about who I was and who I wanted to be. Chimney instills wonderful values in its campers - independence, community, friendship, respect, and service. I'm now 26 and training to be a doctor, and feel that a large part of who I am and what I care about I owe to Chimney. I cannot say enough good things about this camp. If you have a daughter you are considering sending to CCC, I whole-heartedly encourage you.

My son is at Becket for his third summer right now and loves it. He has ADHD, so it was hard to find the right fit for him, but the emphasis on respect and service to each other has been the right culture for him. There are so many activities and the location is very beautiful. When you think of summer camp, the picture that comes to mind is of Becket because it is very traditional - really a throwback to old times. There are no cellphones, ipods, computers, tv's, etc. I can't say enough good things about Camp Becket.

I love chimney, i have just completed my second year there and plan on going back. the reason i gave personal attention only a four, is because, yes, maybe you don't get as much personal attention as you would at home, but this camp isn't only about you. Chimney focuses on building a strong connection and bond as a cabin group, and sometimes that means you will not be the center of attention, but you have to recognize that it is for the greater good. This camp is very good and i would suggest it to anyone who is willing to work hard towards having life-long friends. (and please don't say everyone here is mean just because you didn't like you counselor)

My son just returned from his first session at Camp Becket, but before he left camp he insisted that we sign him up for 2009. Becket is an unusual place in the crazy world we live in: it's a place where a kid can truly be a kid, learn great values, and have fun. My son adored his counselor and CIT, and made great connections with a variety of the staff at Becket. He came home with great stories, new friends, and a better sense of himself.

I just had the Mom's visiting weekend with my daughter! The camp had such a warm spirit- tons of singing, cheers and activity all around. My daughter has gained so much confidence and independence in the few weeks at camp! It was wonderful to see her away from everyday busy life and enjoying the outdoors and so many different activities. The counselors were attentive, fun and caring and the kids at the camp were spirited and kind. I am so happy with our choice of CCC and look forward to many more wonderful summers there for our daughter. My daughter had tried so many new activities and even many new foods! This was a great choice and a wonderful summer for our daughter!

Amazing, amazing, amazing, amazing. I love this place so much, it's insane. Chimney will always be my true home, and the song doesn't lie when it say "Chimney Corners in the Berkshires, it's more than a place, it's the light that's inside you, it's the smile on your face." To understand how much everyone loves this place, you just need to watch a girl be comforted by her cabin mates while she's homesick, or everyone singing in the dining hall at the top of their lungs, or candlelight/circle of happiness. Basically, it is gorgeous, and amazing, and the best thing ever. Go there!

My child was bullied, and teased her entire stay and no one even cared. The problem was brought up on numerous occasions when my daughter was crying but nothing was done. She said the food was awful, the activities were focused on the "popular" kids at camp and she had no personal attention whatsoever. What type of summer camp is that?

We sent our son and daughter to BCCYMCA last summer and both of them had a wonderful time. Our son is returning this year, but our daughter has chosen to go to more competitive sports oriented camps. We were very pleased with the facilitites. It is what camp should be; simple, rustic and clean. The location is wonderful and beautiful. The vast majority of counselors are former campers, which speaks volumes about the place. Our kids developed greater self-confidence, independence and the camps reinforced our family's values during their month-long stay, which is exactly what we wanted our kids to come away with. This place ain't fancy, but then summer camp shouldn't be. If you are looking for camps that offer your son or daughter a strong general camp experience, without all the frills, but with great substance and at a very reasonable cost, then BCCYMCA should be seriously considered.

Chimney made me a strong, caring, loving person. Its what I look forward to every year. I really could not think of one bad thing to say. The strongest friendships are made at Chimney. The staff is incredible and does everything possible to make every child's time at Chimney amazing. Also, a month away from televisions and computers are just what most children need. Chimney is my second home where I can just be myself all the time. I can't wait for this year ; less than a month! Thank you everyone at Chimney, you have made my life 100000000 times better :D <3333

I went to this camp for just about 10 years and can honestly say it was by far the best experience I could have had as a child. The staff are warm and welcoming, the food was good, the activities were fantastic and the opportunities for growth as a person were just beyond what anyone could expect. The facilities are what camp should be, sleeping in a cabin with no electricity with 7 other peers and 2 counselors. Waking up every morning to another cabin singing and have a packed day of fun every single day of the week, who could ask for more. In regards to the price I am aware that it can be pricey but how do you put a price on a childs ultimate happiness and a chance to better themselves as an individual. I could go on and on about this camp.

I feel like the majority the negative reviews for becket have little explanation and don't make much sense. In my opinion certain kids just don't mesh in the sense that they don't value what the camp advocates. It is much less of a pampered environment than many kids are used to. I think in many cases it can be perfect and for others, it can obviously go down a less successful road. If your son isn't willing to try new things and really grow with a group of great kids and amazing counselors then I wouldn't recommend becket. On the other hand this camp just is the best at pushing open minded kids to their potential. So if the answer to the next question is yes, send your kid to Becket. Does your son have the ability to be a supportive, team player in a group environment? Thank you camp becket, for everything you have done for me.

This camp was fun for the time i was with my counslers because i am a small girl and i am very sknny. The counslers gave me a lot of attetion but the kids didnt like me because the counslers gave me more attetion. I stood up for the homesick children that were getting made fun of because they were cying and the activitys were horrible i was just so bored through the whole day. i went for 2 years we didnt have counslers with us and i had no friend. the other girls would tell the new girls that i was mean and i ended up leaving half way into my second summer.i go to a much better camp now just respond to this letter if you dont like camp and i will tell you mine

This camp is intentionally rustic, but very modern. Beautiful land & lake, great boating, aquatics, etc. It must have one of the best ropes/climbing facilities among camps - every Project Challenge element you can imagine, and then some. Sure, the lawns aren't manicured like at some ritzy camps, but they're helping to raise our nation's children into fine men and women of strong character... not blades of grass.

CCC is my favorite place in the world. I've gone to CCC for four years now and I will never stop going. CCC truly transforms you into an independant, wonderful, beautiful, exceptional woman. You will meet your best friend at Chimney Corners and you'll never want to leave. Each year that I've gone I've been in the same cabin as Noelle Austin and I truly love it there. If I'm not at CCC, I'm thinking of CCC. If I'm at CCC I have the time of my life. It makes me cry every time I have to leave because of the friendships with the girls and staff, the activities that are always fun and exciting, the excellent food, and the moments, those moments that you will remember and cherish forever. I live in NJ and it's a 4 hour drive to CCC but the entire ride up I'm so excited. I can't stop thinking of all the wonderful times I will share, the new activities I will take, the horses I will ride, the friends I will make, CCC is the most magical place in the world. Chimney Corners is my second home! <3

"You'll like the Becket way, my friend, you'll like the Becket way. " I was a camper in the early 1980's, progressed through the aide program and eventually became a staff member. 20 + years later I am still in contact with some of my Becket friends, who know me well and are like my brothers. The Camp Becket mottos influence my life to this day. Also, many Becket/Chimney boys and girls turn out quite well! Everyone I know went to great colleges (Ivy and prestigous liberal arts ), and did quite well professionally. The college I graduated from (a prestigious liberal arts college)was the college one of my counselors graduated from. He was a role model and hero. It is an honor and privilege to have spent my summers at Becket. I read some of the negative reviews on this site. Do not let them discourage you! I disagree with all of them and consider them to be generic, superficial & nonsensical. Becket is an investment in one's future and personal growth.

I wouldn't reccomend this camp because the staff was very unhelpful and didn't even acknowledge any of the problems my daughter was having. It is also rather expensive.

A rating of 5 in every category doesn't do BCCYMCA justice. Chimney has been my home every summer for over 10 years. I began as an excited 8 year old camper and have just completed my second summer as a staff member. I feel as if the values and lessons I've learned and the experiences I've had through BCCYMCA have prepared me for everything I will have to face in my life. I have formed relationships with women and men of all ages that have become profoundly important in my life. Summer camp is something I truly believe every child should experience, and BCCYMCA is a wonderful choice.

I have been going to Chimney for 8 years now. These summers have been unforgettable. I never had a summer when i didn't want to go back, and know I will continue to go back for years. Chimney staff are so enthusiastic and fun that it makes the spirit intoxicating. My cousin and brother went/ go to Becket now and they love it too. Send your kids to Becket and Chimney because, as opposed to other camps, they teach you morals. I konw that I wouldn't be the same person I am today without Chimney. Becket and Chimney's Youth Travel and Service programs are fantastic; I still keep intouch with my frineds from Costa Rica and talk to them every single day. Basically Chimney is the greatest. AIDES 08 i love you already :)

Best place I have ever been in my life. I have spent 9 summers at Becket, and every year it gets better and better. Next year I will be returning to work on staff in an effort to pass on this amazing place to a future generation. The people you meet at Becket are second to none, and the originality of the fun activities makes the whole experience extremely enjoyable.

I am 13 years old and this past summer was my second year as a camper at Chimney Corners. I absolutely love this camp! I have made so many new friends and the counselors are beyond amazing! I cannot wait to return next year! I would also like to make a special shout out to the intermediate cabin Olympus of summer 2007 first session (my cabin) and the intermediate cabin Shangra-La of summer 2007 first session. I love you guys and I cannot wait to go on ICEP, be an aide, and a AC/counselor with you guys! Chimney Corners Camp rocks!

Camp becket is simply the best and most beautiful place you could ever want to spend your summer. I just finished my sixth summer as a camper and had the best time of my life. Any time I have the privelege to spend at Becket is just so cherishable and it just might be my favorite place in the world. Just the thoughts of waking up to the cool mountain air, spending thime with friends and counselors, and closing out the day with cabin chat make me long camp all throught the year. It is truly the best camp in America!

I went to this camp for a year before I went to Camp Longhorn.... I hated it so much, I tried to BREAK MY ARM so that I could go home. I had my cabinmates jump on me. It only sprained it so I had to stay. It was horrible. Don't even give it a try, you'll regret it.

there's just one thing i can say about chimney: CCC IS THE BEST CAMP EVER!!!! ive been going to chimmey corners for 2 years, and those have been the best summers of my life. i will admit, that not everything about the camp is perfect. my firsst summer, my counsler wasn't all that great, but my AC compleatly made up for that, but then, nothing is perfect, not even the best place in the worls. befome i came to CCC, went to another sleep-away camp for two years. Camp laurelwood, the camp i previously went to, wasn't a very good camp. my second summer there was the worst summer of my life, and right after i camp home from laurelwood, i began looking for a new camp, and one of the ones i looked at was CCC. the best two summers of my life have been the ones where i was at Chimney. all of the staff are amazing!!!! the activities are great! the friends you make at CCC are the best friends you will ever have. my CCC friends are closer to me than any of my other friend. CCC IS THE BEST!!!!

It dawned on me today that I have spent half of my summers at Chimney, I started when I was 8 and now I'm 16. Those summers at Chimney were the best of my life. The staff is focused and intelligent, and they can come up with fun activities at the drop of a hat. This summer I went on REACH which was the best experience of my life. All of the YTP trips that BCC offers builds leadership skills while doing community service work. Next summer I am hoping to be an assistant counselor at Chimney to give back to the camp what it has given to me. My life would not be the same without Chimney and I highly reccomend it to any parent or child looking for a summer camp.

I cannot speak highly enough about Camp Becket. My oldest son has attended 3 YMCA camps, including prestigious and highly rated Camp Seagull. Becket far outshines the others.
The culture truly fosters responsibility, achievement, trust, communication, introspection, working as a team, giving back, and "thinking outside the box"--all while having fun! The Becket program includes small details like brain teaser riddles while waiting in line or for activities to start. Nightly "cabin chats" challenge campers to problem-solve about cabin group dynamics or examine topics like social responsibility, loyalty, emotions. My son comes home a changed person: calm, focused, caring and self-motivated--not always traits associated with teens! His friends even notice the difference.
The staff roster reads like a list of future leaders of America. Most of the counselors attend Ivy League or elite colleges, and display an impressive range of accomplishments--great leaders/role models for your ki

i have gone to becket for 3 summers as a camper. i am hoping to do the Aides program next year. it is hard to describe how amazing becket is. i have never had as good friends, or as good experiences. Becket helped me find myself, and try new things. i have never met people who are as accepting as those at Becket. when u r there u just feel comfortable. nobody expects you to be anything you aren't. it is the most amazing place and i strongly encourage parents to send their boys to Becket, and girls to chimney. it has changed my life. and has transformed me into a better person.

Two of my children have attended Becket and CCC respectively for many years. I have been a staff member. I have worked in outdoor education for many years and I believe this camp has the best long term graduated curriculum I have ever seen. They start with children as young as eight and develop people all the way through teir early college years. This is not a summer experience it is a lifetime commitment that carries through generation after generation of the families who attend. Becket's guiding principles were recently circulated through the management at Bath Iron Works (handed to me by a friend who works there). The influence of the program is spreading.

I attended Chimney Corners both as a camper, counselor and administrative staff--truly a lifelong impact. I learned an appreciation for the outdoors that's with me to this day, met amazing girls and women who shaped my interests and taught me about a bigger world, and gave me the space to learn and try new things--tough when you're 11 and 12 years old.
I'd highly recommend CCC.

We've sent 2 boys to Becket for 6 years. What a terrific place. They love it. Becket's focus on developing superior character sets the theme for a terrific summer and for lessons of living a good life. "Be a Becket Man" is a commonly heard rephrane which means do the right thing. We could not have expected a camp to do more to develop our boys into more caring, well rounded thoughtful individuals. The Becket philisophy and Mottos are simple, humble effective tools for life that develop boys into leaders through exemplary living. Free from the distractions of technology and co-ed competition, the camp is a beautiful rustic setting where boys flourish.

i love chimney and always will...but sometimes working for them they can be a little unfair...they try and get certain people in trouble for things that almost every other staff member is doing! it hurts because i have been there for my whole life and have impacted many campers lives, but in doing so i feel as if they are punishing me for being a good staff member. they need to be more aware of the entire staff and not just individual groups. If a staff members mom donates alot of money or is on the moms committee they tend to look away at what that staff is doing, but try to punish others for the same thing. i will always respect ccc for the values and bonds it has given me, but will not be able to forgive.

becket and chimney are the best camps in the world. the opportunities that these camps present are endless and unique. youth travel programs such as ICEP, YAS, REACH and TLS are one of a kind, and without a doubt life changing. the aides program creates a brotherhood and sisterhood that cannot be understood unless you experience it. it's amazing to see mothers and daughters feeling the bonds of sisterhood. i've never seen another camp so dedicated to creating good character, and with staff more united in this cause. every staff member has the basic moral values of a becket boy or chimney girl, and once you experience the camp you will know just what that means. all in all, these camps attract the best people you will ever meet. if you want your kids to look up to some amazing, responsible, and great young adults for a summer, becket and chimney are the places for you. your kids will have more fun than they have ever had and be in an extremely rich and loving environment.

Chimney Corners has changed my life. It has made me a mature, independent, responsible, and loving young woman. I wouldn't trade the experiences I've had here for the world. There is truly nowhere else on Earth like this little peace of heaven in the Berkshires. I will be returning for my eighth summer as an assistant counselor. I met my best friends (my sisters)at Chimney and they taught me that people will love me for who I am. Words can not express what CCC has done for me. I truly reccommend it (and Becket) to anyone!

My two sons, now fifth and eighth graders, had a SUPER time last summer! They are returning this year for four more weeks of activities and fun. One of my sons has serious food allergies -- he had a positive experience regarding the levels of understanding, compassion, caution, and attention that he received. We feel comfortable sending him back! My husband had a relaxing, "bonding" three days with the boys during Dads' Weekend.

Though I am certainly somewhat biased by my history with Becket, I have worked with many other camps, and feel that I can fairly say that Camp Becket is the most child and adolescent centered environment I have ever encountered. From their first day of employment, all staff members (many former campers themselves) are instilled with the idea that Becket exists to meet the diverse needs of campers. This leads to the remarkable phenomenon of staff opting to spend their free time with campers, building relationships that are immediately validating and supportive, which often last into adulthood. Though it is a nearly ideal physical environment for such accomplishments, the lifelong character development that takes place at Becket is much more a product of the unique and wonderful people who have devoted tremendous talent, time, and energy to its historical and continued success.

As a returning staff member here and a past attendee of other New England summer camps, I can truly say that I didn't truly understand camp spirit until I came to Becket's program staff. The leadership is amazing, and because of them the staff is always in high spirits despite the difficult tasks they face. Because of their infectious optimistic spirit, the campers have a better time and feel more at home in a place where homesickness is everybody's problem. The camp also holds fundraisers and raffles to give camperships to people who cannot afford the already low cost of camp.

I have been going to BCCYMCA since I was 3 years old. This place is literally a part of me. I was a camper, I went on an ICEP trip and I was part of the aides program. Unlike some feedback below me ICEP was one of the greatest experiences of my life. On my trip we got to explore the culture and while there were boundries, these were just for my own safety. I got to experience people first hand and I would recommend Chimney Corners/Becket to any human being in the world!!

Going to Chimney Corners is absolutely one of the greatest places on Earth! It truly is my second home. I'm absolutely sure that your daughter will fall in love with Chimney's devoted, caring, and attentive staff, the rustic and comfortable facilities, and the fantastic, fun, and creative activities. Chimney finds fun and interesting ways to enforce important morals that I've carried with me throughout the years. I always look fondly back on "camp days" filled with new friends, singing in the dining hall, and the place where even a thunderstorm can't dapen the fun. Chimney Corners changed my life, and I recommend it without a shadow of a doubt.

this is the best camp that i have ever been to in my life... it has given me something unforgettable.. this camp gives you life long friends and an great experience. chimney taught me so much over the past few years, from friends to personal problems ive had to deal with. from the staff to the food, facilities, and people, chimney is one place where someone can really be themselves, and be accepted for who they are. this year i am doing icep new zealand, and i am excited because i know that chimney is giving me the opportunity to have a life changing experience, and i am so grateful for there generosity. I would reccomend this camp to any girl, or guy( for becket), to attend, it will be unforgattable, something you will hold near and dear to your heart. therefore, i would happily recommend this camp to anyone!

I attended becket for four years as a camper, and participated in the youth travel program's trip to Chile. The four summers that i spent at becket and that in Chile with other becket and chimney campers were the best of my life. everybody else has already commented on how great everything about the camp is, and it is all true. what separates becket from other camps even more, however, is the lessons that a camper and staff member come away with. while i was there, i found a new respect for myself, learned to respect others on a whole new level, and learned how to live by the moral codes taught at becket. everyone there is nice to each other, everyone is accepted, and when you leave the camp, you bring home an understanding of how to respect others and act like a kind person. there should not be any second guessing when picking a camp. AMICI!

I spent 10 great summers at Camp Becket. They were some of my fondest memories of childhood. Becket is not a sports camp, or a religion camp, or a drama camp, or any type of specialty camp; IT IS A SPECIAL CAMP. It's a place where boys learn to be men and learn to explore themselves. I can honestly say it has shaped me to become the person I am today. Although we now live in the DC area, we continue to send our sons to Becket. I would recommend it for any boy around the world--and it has a global campership!!

I wrote my college entrance essay on my amazing experiences at this camp. I hope that expresses the level of importance and impact that camp has had on my life. I entered the Junior Unit as a 9 year old camper in 1989. I spent my last year as an assistant counselor, 9 YEARS later in the very same cabin, just on the other side of the wall. What an amazing and full circle experience this was for me. There are no words to describe the magic at Chimney. More ways to learn, grow and express yourself than you can imagine. What better gift to give your children. I personally can not WAIT to send my own kids.

I myself am an alumus as is my brother and we both have great lasting memories from these camps. I am still in contact with friends I made while a camper at Chimney Corners. I highly recommend these camps to anyone who is looking to give their child a once in a lifetime experience. The staff are incredible and the facilities are unparalled. Your children will be safe and meet wonderful friends.

I have nothing but great things to say about Camp Becket in the Berkshires. In my 3 years as a camper, I was taught many life lessons, met many new friends who I am still in contact with, and have such amazing memories like dominating at four-square, sock ball fights, rock climbing trips with the Climbing Cabin, and the one-month journey to Yellowstone. It is a place that will always be in my heart.

My five and counting summers spent at Becket have been the best experience of my life, and the "Becket Way" has changed me much for the better. My entire year is spent counting down until the day i go back to camp, as the friendships i have made at Becket are far stronger than those i have made at home. Becket has a way of bringing out the best in everyone, and the staff is extremely helpful in all aspects of camp life. Becket has taught me what it truly means to be happy, and that living without television and unlimited supplies of junkfood is very, very possible. I would gladly spend every summer for the rest of my life at Camp Becket, and never, ever get bored of it. Further, it's a great place for the aspiring four square player to hone their skills.

i had such a great time with campers and staff during my first summer at Becket in 2005, and I could feel the whole-hearted spirit embodied in every person associated with the camp that i had to make the 12 hour trek again in the summer of 2006. Unfortunately i cannot make it there this year :( -kevin groat

i loved becket ymca. as a first year camper, i was homesick, and was truely afraid of being away form home. by the second day at camp, i had new life long friends. i have returned every summer since 1999, and hope to stay connected to becket for the rest of my life. the camp celebrated its centenial in 2003. I have sepnt many summer days sitting on the library porch (thats right, we have a library) reading a book, spent hot afternoons sailing and occasionally falling in to cool off, or climbing on our high ropes course. Becket gave me the push i needed to find the best in myself. Becket help me set goals, and made me aspire to meet them and surpass them by leaps and bounds. Whether you spend one summer at camp or 10, you will alway live the becket way.

My mother worked at Chimney when she was a teenager, and I went to camp starting when I was 10 years old and moved all the up to being a counselor. I loved camp from the very beginning and since then the place and the people who just keep coming back have become an important part of my life. Being all girls at chimney gives young girls to freedom to express themselves without fear and discover parts of themselves they had not even realized yet. The beautiful natural setting of woods and lake are refreshing and fulfilling for our bodies and souls in a world full of cement. The community feeling and stong love of the camp gives all who come a rare sense of family and community rarely found in day to day life anymore. Long Live Summer Camp!

Even though I have nothing to compare CCC to, since it's the only camp I've ever attended, I wouldn't want it any other way, because I can't even imagine what a better camp would be like. EVERY SINGLE person, staff and camper, is an amazing, kind person, and fun to feel at home. Everyone feels accepted, and no one can resist the Chimney spirit. It is the most wonderful environment, both spiritually/emotionally, as well as physically (the landscape is beautiful, with tons of trees and grass). You're guaranteed to leave with AT LEAST 8 "sisters" by the end of the summer.

This upcoming summer will be my 11th(!!) summer working for the Becket/Chimney YMCA and my sixth on their staff.
This is where I matured as a young adult. It is where I learned to live by a moral code, to appreciate nature, and to respect every person I meet. Without the experience of attending Becket I would not be the person I am today and there is no where in the world more dear to my heart.

There is no place on earth like Becket, MA, 01223. This summer will be my eighth consecutive summer at Chimney Corners, and my love and appreciation for this place only continues to grow. I have grown, loved, learned, and lived more in a summer at this camp than most people do in a lifetime. I have never experienced such a warm, inclusive, and sisterly atmosphere. The friends I made here will be my friends until I die. There is nothing more to say: experience it yourself.

I have spent a total of 7 years (going on 8) attending and working for Chimney Corners Camp. I must say that it is the best experience I have ever had in my life. If it were not for this camp, I would not be the person that I am today and I would not have the amazing friends that I have. Chimney Corners Camp is a place where you make lifelong friends, have an amazing value system instilled within you, and is a place that you have to keep going till, even when you are no longer a camper. Attending Chimney Corners Camp is the best thing I have done in my life!!

This summer will be my eigth one at camp. I can honestly say that deciding to go to Becket was the best choice that I have made in my entire life. Its 1300 acres (and 90 acre lake) are stunning. Counselors at camp really care about the emotional growth of their campers, and strive to instill in them a values system that guides me as I go about my life during the rest of the year. You or your child will not forget the summer that they spend at camp or the friends that he makes there. Please, seriously consider sending him to camp for a session this summer!

Camp Becket rocks! I have been to several other camps and have seen many different styles of camp life, but Camp Becket has something nobody else, its the combination of tradition, brotherhood, and the outdoor 'roghing it' feeling that makes Becket so unique. Although its been awhile since i've been back to visit, i still hold becket in my heart along with all the numerous friendships and experiances i have had there.

its hard to put into words how wonderful and special this place is...i spent 7 summers of my life as a camper and staff member and my experiences there helped shape the person i am today. it is a truly great organization to be a part of, i met so many interesting people along the way and learned about different aspects of life you would never learn in the classroom. chimney corners and becket offer a very encouraging and positive environment for any age...my memories from camp will always be with me and i still have close friendships with the girls i spent my summers with at chimney. without a doubt i will send my children to becket/chimney so they have the same opportunity to be a part of this magical place :)

Chimney Corners is an amazing place to send a young girl looking to have fun and find some lasting relationships. As a previous staff member and camper, I have found so much support, friendship, and self confidence through my 9 summers at Chimney. As a staff member for 5 years, I have seen girls grow up and become leaders themselves. It is truly an amazing place for anybody who wants to have fun, make friends, learn about themselves, all in a supportive, non-competitive environment.

I spent eight years at Camp Becket both as a staff member and as a camper. It is hard to explain why Becket is so good but once you get there it becomes obvious that Camp Becket is a unique and great place. The staff members have more enthusiasm than any other group of people or person that I have ever encountered. They are completely focused on making sure that very camper has the best summer they've ever had. I guess it is a little corny but, the boys who go to camp Becket every summer leave with a better understanding of how the world should be.

This camp is amazing. I was a camper for two years, after being referred by a family friend, and then was a member of the Aids program, and then a member of the staff. This is a very special place. I consider it to be my second home.

Words can't adequately express what Becket has meant to my life. I began going to camp when I was 8 years old, participated in TLS and the Aides program and then worked on staff. It's an atmosphere like no other. It's filled with support, enthusiasm, FUN!!, encouragement and many important lessons. Some of my most memorable experiences were shared and my best friends made at Becket. It has taught me so much about life and myself and while learning, I was surrounded by amazing people and limitless opportunities. I don't think a "5" and a smiley face can convey enough about my invaluable experiences!

Having attended camp for six years, I love everything about it. In an open environment it teaches good values, self-confidence, and leadership skills. The YTP programs are one of a kind, and the Aides program is as well. The new dining hall is also fantastic. But most importantly, I have made the best friends of my life at both the girls' and boys' camp.

Chimney is the best camp in the world! i had the time of my life at camp. everyone was really nice, and the counslers were really helpful and kind. i have only gone for one summer so far, but the second camp ended i signed up for the next summer. i am really into horses, and unlike many camps i have been to, the horses were really well taken care of. Chimney is the second sleep away camp i have been to, and Chimnew was 1000000000000 times better than Laurelwood. you can never stop me coming here! CCCIS THE BEST CAMP EVER!!I LOVE CAMP CHIMNEY CORNERS!! if you dont like CCC you are crazy. YOU SHOULD DEFINETLEY COME HERE!!!!

Becket is a very nice camp. All the staff is nice, and they help you with anything you need. I've gone for 2 years and I am returning this year. The activities are very well planed and fun. Also, you get to make friend with your cabin mates that may be from all around the country. Becket is the best camp ever!

My daughter's counselor and AC were very unhelpful this year. I was also very unimpressed that she was placed in a cabin with a girl from the same town, I thought summer camps tried to avoid this for fear of a pre-existing relationship. She will not be returning to Chimney Corners next summer.

Chimney is the best camp in the world, next yoear will be my 4th summer. I love it more than life and miss it all year round, I suggest the climbing cabin for 13-14 year olds. The constrution cabin is fun too. This camp is totally worth checking out. I love the people there especially the staff, they're what make it so fun. The food is great too! I love it.

The people are nice, the land is gorgeous, and the activities are fun and i learned alot. PC is the best class to take, and construction is loads of fun, and so is riding (if you like horses) and climbing. the bathrooms are clean and the food is great.

Every summer (6 to be exact) were the best of my life... the environment is great, the activities are so much fun, and everyone grows as individuals in such a positive way!! I highly recommend this for any child (Becket is for boys, and Chimney Corners for girls). It is a summer filled with lifelong friends, amazing growth, and the ebst summer of you life!

My son attended the daycamp program for 2 weeks. He was in love with their nature center - extremely extensive and very knowledgable staff. The lake is beautiful - no instruction, just free swim. The daycamp program is basic - a few sports activities, lake time, nature, blue berry picking, tag games, a program on friendship. Counselors were local and from abroad. Overall, nice basic program that kept my son active and in touch with nature. Very good value. Had to bring own lunch.
