I worked at Belvoir for over ten tears as a photography teacher. These were some of the happiest summers of my life. Being part of a community of supportive artists from all disciplines, building deep connections with incredible students and their families as well as peers, and growing as an artist and person alongside them, contributed toward BT being a touchstone of excellence and joy in my life.
The only thing better thank working at Belvoir is being able to have my children be part of the tradition. I have three very different daughters and each one has a place at Belvoir. Somehow they are even more obsessed than I am. It is their home-away-from-home, where they feel nurtured, understood, safe to explore their interests and selves, and to build deep friendships. I am forever grateful that Belvoir exists and that Diane is continuing to grow and carry on her grandmother’s and mother’s visions. She is a wonderful and caring director and someone I am proud to count as a true friend

My four daughter have all attended Belvoir over the last 15 years. The experience at this special place has changed my daughters lives. Each has grown and found interests that I know they will have for the rest of their lives. Belvoir gives young women the opportunity to develop life long friendships and being part of a very special community.

Belvoir Terrace is the perfect place for artsy girls to develop deep friendships, discover who they really are outside of school and family, and make meaningful progress in music, art, theater, and dance. At Belvoir, my music-loving daughter (piano, violin, voice) discovered she is equally passionate about drawing and sculpture. She also fell in love with theater -- as an audience member. She LOVED watching her camp-mates in the 25+ end-of-summer performances! Co-directors Diane and Nancy have created a supportive environment where campers feel encouraged to take risks and try new things while developing mastery in their area of focus. Best of all, my daughter describes her camp-mates as "sisters" and says the Belvoir community is her other family.

Belvoir Terrace is my home away from home. In my 6 years there, now going into 7,I have made incredible friends from all over the world who I see as my sisters. I have learned so much from the wonderfully professional and supportive staff. I have grown immensely as a performer and as a young lady. I count the days until the summer begins because Belvoir is truly magical for me and the other girls there. The friends, memories, and lessons that Belvoir has given me will forever be in my heart. I cannot thank Nancy and Diane enough for creating this truly extraordinary place.

My daughter's 5th summer at BT is approaching, she has literally been counting the days since last summer. She found a perfect home at Belvoir, a unique and gorgeous place, where she can do what she loves (make art) all day every day for 6 1/2 weeks, and at her own pace, which is slow, thoughtful, meticulous. The best part is the deep connection she has made with friends at Belvoir, which she doesn't have at school. I think it's because this camp is full of girls like her: devoted to their artistic & other passions, knowing they are in a safe and beautiful place to explore and express themselves, and loving the camaraderie that sleepaway camp provides, particularly an all girls camp. My daughter loved being in the "House" as a young camper, and then loved moving up to the Chalet (both very far from luxurious) BT is costly but the value is forever, which is true of extraordinary things. ps-she is a public school kid in NY & we have a great friendship with Diane, Nancy and other parents

Belvoir Terrace is a truly extraordinary summer camp for girls! The wonderful owner/directors, Nancy Goldberg and Diane Marcus, are incredibly caring and involved with all of the girls. During their amazing summers, the girls grow not only creatively, but also emotionally. The teachers are warm, caring first-rate professionals. In addition to developing their creative talents, the girls make enduring friendships with girls from all over the world. This summer, our oldest daughter will be going back for her 4th summer at Belvoir Terrace. Last summer, she absolutely loved her musical theatre, opera, Shakespeare, water color, and dance classes. This summer, our other two daughters will be going for the first time. I'm certain that they will all have an extraordinary summer!!!

I went to Belvoir Terrace for four years, and leaving was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. It was a place I could go and forget about everything at home - be with people who were as passionate about the arts as I was, learn from the best teachers around, and just, be myself. It's amazing to be a young girl at Belvoir and completely look up to the oldest "Cottage" girls, and then finally become one yourself! I highly recommend Belvoir... any girl would love it!

We are a two generation Belvoir family -- I attended for 7 summers (two sisters combined for 17 as campers) and my daughter is eagerly looking forward to her summer #4. Belvoir is a place where the best of each girl is celebrated, and lifelong passions and friendships are born. The process is valued as much as the final product -- so each camper has the unique opportunity to challenge herself under the exceptional tutelage of incredible artists, many of whom hold masters and doctoral degrees in their fields. In my experience, theatre and dance staff are careful in reassembling productions so that roles are apportioned as fairly as possible -- tho hovering parents may disagree. However, if you want your daughter to grow and flourish in a warmly supportive environment dedicated to excellence, as an artist or spectator, there is no better place on earth. I have never seen a camp as dedicated to nurturing girls and young women.

Belvoir Terrace truly changed my life growing up. I was given the chance to attend Belvoir many years ago and to this day I remember it like if it was yesterday. All the faculty and staff treated all the campers equally in a fun-loving environment. We were educated in the arts and I truly believe Belvoir has made me who I am today. I gained self-esteem and confidence everyday I was there. The caliber of all the Faculty is exceptional from Dance to Acting to Photography...the list goes on. Yes, there may be hundreds of wonderful camps out there, but Belvoir will change your child's life as a performing artist. I now own my own performing arts conservatory and I owe it all to the Directors and Faculty at Belvoir. I was given the chance to spread my wings as a child 15 years ago...thank you Nancy and Diane for believing in all of us and for creating such an amazing performing arts camp for girls. I highly recommend Belvoir Terrace to any girl who has a true passion for the arts.

It pains me to have to write this review. I truly wish that I could look back on my time at Belvoir Terrace favorably. I should begin by saying that the teaching staff at Belvoir are truly EXCEPTIONAL, and they provide top-notch training in the performance and visual arts. However, only a select few campers get their money's worth at this camp. The directors and staff make it glaringly apparent that they have their favorite campers, and these "Belvoir Pets" consistently score lead roles, solos, and the like. Everyone else might as well not even exist. I arrived at Belvoir later than most, and because of this I was subjected to a completely intolerable social atmosphere. Yes, the girls were cliquey, but that's nothing new. These girls, however, were downright CRUEL to me. Because of this, my experience at Belvoir Terrace was forever marred.

Since 1999 Belvoir was, and continues to be, my home away from home. As a professional in the Arts, I feel that I owe a great deal of my knowledge of and respect for the business to my years as a camper. Not to mention the fact that I count the girls from my age group and beyond as some of my closest friends to this day. Go visit. Meet the owners and the staff. You'll see for yourself how wonderful they are. I feel lucky to count them as my friends and I am forever grateful to have spent my summers at such a magical place.

I have been going to Belvoir for a few summers now and plan on continuing to return for as long as I can. A lot of people think that the directors are mean and not fair. Although they seem that way, they have your best intrest at heart and push you to do your personal best. They personally try and get to know everybody-- which at points makes them seem nosey. The staff cares about your well being and encourage you to do your best. If you are looking for a traditional camp where you can play pranks, skip classes, and be unproductive Belvoir is not the right place for you. If you want to learn a lot about the arts and expand your knowledge on any given subject Belvoir is a great place. I have made all of my best friends from camp!

My daughter was completely miserable at this camp because she felt out of place in this atmosphere of privileged, spoiled children. The camp director was oftentimes rude and hostile- completely the opposite of what is advertised as a nurturing place for young women. She claims it is in the name of running a tight ship and instilling a sense of morals, but with her, Hypocrisy gives a stunning, all-star performance. It was clear that this camp did not operate democratically and was intent on preening only an elite population of girls based on social status. I would not recommend this camp to anybody who wants a summer program for their daughter based on substance. If you want a serious program in the arts and music, this is not the place, and it is certainly not worth the money. If you want your child to be in the company of divas, pick up bad habits of self-entitlement, and aspire towards dilettantism, then this is the perfect place.

Attend here for five summers straight and love it with all your heart- just don't expect to be invited back for your final "cottage" year. I'm sure my parents were really happy to have spent tens of thousands of dollars on a camp that eventually only cared about their prettiest private school girls, most of whom no longer even work in the arts. And while an absurdly large percentage of the girls invited back did eventually attend ivy league schools, I could only surmise one thing: They were perhaps quite intelligent and talented, but they were also very, very rich! I must admit that I, too, have eventually gone on to attend one of those ever-snobby ivies, but at least I can safely say that it wasn't due to a family legacy or fancy schmancy high school education. THANKS BELVOIR T!!! (::vomit::)

As I looked over other reviews I noticed the difference between campers reviews and parent reviews. Being a college freshmen and having attend Belvoir for 4 fabulous summers, I can now look back through a different set of eyes and see the positives and negatives people see and speak of about Belvoir girls. Belvoir allows girls to study with professionals in a given career for 7 weeks in the summer but at the same time, Belvoir lets you meet lifelong friends. Granted, I haven't kept up with my Belvoir friends as much as I would have liked but at the time, and even now I still consider them some of my closest friends. Some parents comment that the girls are unwelcoming and unfriendly but what they fail to realize is that girls are petty and thats part of what comes with going to an all-girls camp for 7 weeks. Eventually they come around, and even if they dont, who said you have to be friends with everybody. Looking back on my BT summers, I had an amazing time, that may have changed my li

OK SO! BELVOIR IS MY LIFE. period its the most amazing place ive ever visited and i really don't know what I would do with out it. This is summer was my first year and I was REALLY nervous but I met some people... VERDON '08 and now im basically positive that I can't live without them. The friendship between the 6 of us is absolutely unbreakable and all of them are like sisters to me. The point is that not only did I have an amazing summer and learned a lot but I made friends that will last a life time and no one can take that from me. Belvoir '09 is gonna be amazing can't wait to see everyone I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

I went to belvoir and I was really excited because it looked so pretty, the directors seemed really nice, the food seemed edible, and the place seemed very clean. When i got there i realized the directors were so mean!!!! all they cared about was impressing the parents!the rooms were clean because they yelled at the bunks if they kept it a little messy to show for the tours. They dont let you do pranks and there is no camping or non spoiled kids at the camp. the food was good but there was no variety and if you didnt like the food served they told you too bad.

This past summer was my first summer at belvoir, and although I had to leave to weeks early due to family issues, it was the best 5 weeks of my life! I don't know what I would do without my friends/sisters here. The staff and counselors are unbelievably nice and caring, the food is FABULOUS (as is everything else), it is not jappy, and although a few girls are mean (which you would find at any camp), most of the girls are the best people you will ever meet. The programs are great, and I absolutely love it. I am most definitely coming back for summer 09. DEMILLE 08 FOREVER ILY GUYS SOO MUCH... i have definitely caught purpleitis, and you will too once you go here. Anyone who doesn't like it is insane in a bad way.

I will not be sending my daughter back to Belvoir. While the programs are great and many of the other campers are wonderful and talented girls, she and I both have been very disappointed by the values of the camp directors - they are very status-focused and do not treat everyone the same. While I can laugh about their obsessive cultivation of celebrity parents, what I find unforgivable and appalling is their dismissive and callous treatment of a little girl who is having a tough summer there. My daughter has very much enjoyed the dance and drama programs and other girls, but feels uncomfortable with her observations of selective treatment. I agree with another mother who wrote earlier that they have wonderful programs, but are devoid of heart.

My daughters enjoyed the activites, facilities and counselors tremendously, but had a terrible time with the other campers. Many girls bring designer items such as Prada bags to camp which is definitely not how we are raising our kids. My daughters are both popular girls at home, but the girls at Belvoir were mean spirited, unwelcoming to new campers, competitive with each other and very materialistic. This is probably a good camp to go to if you start at a young age and if materialistism is one of your values. We found it to be a beautiful facility with great educational options but devoid of heart.

I went here for the greatest summers of my life & grew up to perform in 2 Bway shows before getting married. A camp friend from the late 60's (!!!!) remains a dear friend today. My memories of BT are stellar , unmatched by 2 other camps we mistakenly tried. BT girls are not bratty! Only wish I had a daughter as well as my son, to send here! To all of those who said things about Belvoir being a bad place and a night mare- you probably have like long term memory lost and a pessimistic inability to look at the good things about an amazing place. You only really have a bad time if you choose to. Belvoir isn't the best place to be a self-centered brat; then you'll percieve everybody else as being that way. chalet 7 06! wahoo!
