The staff are all super friendly, caring, and sweet. The food is so good, just thinking about camp food sends me into a food coma. All the girls are supportive and amazing - every year the girls in my cabin start out as my friends and end as my sisters. The atmosphere here is truly unique. The riding is phenomenal. They split everyone into different riding groups based on abilities. The advanced groups will work on their equitation, some dressage, and of course, jump! Beginners also have fun. At the end of 2 weeks, they were able to trot, canter, and jump x-rails! Trails and hunter ring are so much fun, and cross country is so exhilarating. You can learn to play guitar, do archery, etc during activity time. Evening activities include scavenger hunts, army-crawling to the other side of camp, and a play.I love the people+riding. Saddlewood is really heaven on earth and you will not regret coming here! RID: 52027

6/20/17   5     5     5     5     5   I've been going to saddlewood for 8 years. It is the best camp ever and is now my favourite place in the whole world. The counsellors are super awesome and the owners who run the camp are so friendly, hardworking and care about every single camper. Every horse that I have ridden there has been amazing and I have formed a special bond with each and every one of them. Always lots of tears when it's time to go home. The cabins are super nice, the activities are fun, and the horses are so well cared for. The food is so good and I eat way too much while I'm there. This camp is more than just a camp. I've made so many memories there and some of my best friends. It's truly special. I would honestly recommend it 100% to anybody. So much love for this camp and all of the special people and horses that make it so incredible. RID: 50854

3/11/17   1     3     2     1     3   Terrible. I was a camper here for 2 summers, at the ages of 14 and 15; now that I'm finishing my Bachelors, and have been employed by licensed child care centres as well as other highly respected camps for children with special needs, I am appalled at the level of unprofessionalism and recklessness of the camp and its staff. The counsellors are chosen through a game of favouritism, and have very little experience or interest in working with children; it is a way to extend their time as campers there. As a 'new kid' there, and one with a learning disability that affected my comprehension which the camp was informed of, the staff were frequently snappy and showed no intention of being supportive adults. A few of the older staff were good, but very little attention was given to children who were new; there was clear favouritism amongst campers. Riding instruction and facilities were good, I did make a lot of progress. I would not recommend this camp to anybody who wants their kid to be re RID: 50536
Click to report rating    8/30/16   1     4     3     1     2   The riding is great and there are A lot of different activities but the staff made my experience at this camp awful. There were definitely a few nice staff, but the majority were rude and didn't care about anything. When I arrived at camp I was welcomed by two staff lying on their beds using their phones. The councillor was extremely rude to me and didn't care about anything at all. The cit was even worse. One day she was lying on the ground and I accidentally tripped over her and instead of asking if I was okay she SWEARED at me and told me to watch out. All of the staff were mostly sitting there using their phones. The afternoon activities are horrible. At archery, all the bows were broken, at guitar, all the guitars were missing a string or two, at animal house, a bunny bit me, and at arts and crafts, we made bracelets almost every day. I was expecting more variety. There also isn't any tennis or mountain biking as advertised on the website. This camp is awful exept for the riding. RID: 50048
Click to report rating    7/16/16   5     5     4     5     4   I love the x-country field... Tons of fun!!! The counsellors are amazing, and I made a lot of friends. The food is great, the evening activities are awesome. I loved riding my pony, Hannah Montana in silver. You learn so much in stable management, and the facilities are AMAZING. I love cantering on trails, you are going soooooo fast. Overall, fantastic. RID: 49778

Click to report rating    1/24/14   5     5     5     5     5   Saddlewood is the most amazing camp! in fact, its even more than that! its a place where everone can be themselves and don't have to worry about what other people think about them!:) but the pest part about camp is the riding! my first year there a rode the best pony skittles, and my second year I rode a pony named hannahmontana! they were both super amazing and loved to cuddle:) if youre looking for a camp.. go to Saddlewood!!!! Click to report rating    11/23/13   5     5     5     5     5   Swood is THE BEST CAMP EVER!! I have been going for three years and I have ridden Larkin (who's a bit of a brat), Sundance (who is the most awkward pony ever) and Scooter (who is the BEST pony on the planet!) All the horses are well trained (except Black Rain and Christopher Robin) and the conditions are safe and beautiful. The cross country is SO much fun and so is hunter. The food is mostly fried and don't drink the orange juice or milk, but other than that it is epic! come to swood!!! RID: 46296
Click to report rating    9/14/13   5     5     4     5     5   I love here. First year going to overnight camp so I felt lonely and such and cried the first day (lol!) but my counsellor helped me out and gave hugs and words of comfort. The horses and ponies are good, but some of them are flimsy lol!!! But they are cuddly and well natured. The counsellors was the highlight of the trip. So welcoming and they were always there to talk to when I was feeling down. Also, a lot of people come to this camp. This year, a girl from Germany and hong kong came to this camp!! RID: 45991
Click to report rating    8/18/13   5     5     5     5     5   Saddlewood was my first overnight camp experience and I was really nervous to go because I'm a really shy person, therefore, not the best at making friends, but as soon as I got there the staff made me feel really welcome and always helped me if I needed anything:) the campers there are the nicest girls ever and I've made so many great friends. The cabins there are awesome and don't normally get hot ( especially the lower ones) the activities keep everyone entertained and are super fun!:) I have to say one of the things I look forward to is the food! I could live off it!!! The horses and ponies there are the nicest in the world and I absolutely loved my pony there Hanna Montana :))) no matter if you're a persons who's never ridden in there life before, or a seasoned rider, saddlewood is the perfect place!! Click to report rating    11/21/11   5     5     5     5     5   Saddlewood is the best horseback riding camp ever. People come worldwide. Last year, there was a girl from Spain! The horses are healthy and treated when they need it. One thing I like a lot is that they give you an option not to do the activities if you don't feel well. The counsellors are really nice too. They honestly help you with anything. It was really fun having random dance parties and the food is delicious. Stable management is fun. But the test at the end is really hard. The cabins are really nice. Especially Cabin 4. Archery is really fun, the pool is nice when there's a heat wave. Camping is really fun. Especially the camp fire. And all the evening games are exciting. I like ugly counsellor. It requires creativity. If you're considering going to saddlewood, do it! It's worth every single penny. Memories that will last a lifetime and everlasting friendships. I can't wait until next year! I <3 Rocky and Ginger! RID: 37324
Click to report rating    10/20/11   5     5     5     5     5   Saddlewood Camp is by far more than just a camp. It is a place in which campers learn to be confident in themselves, gain social skills, and improve themselves as horsepeople and equestrians. The staff create a fun and casual atmosphere while maintaining order. The campers are always busy and happy, and the facilities are beautiful - clean pool, lush grass fields, rolling hills, renovated cabins. Every camper will get a horse that they love and will bond with it in their own way over the course of the 2 week session. If you're considering Saddlewood, you won't be disappointed - it is a unique and unmatched experience. It has personally changed my life for the better. RID: 37117

Click to report rating    3/7/11   5     5     5     4     5   I went for my first time there in 2010 for 1 session, now it is 2011 and I am going for 2 whole session! I am soo excited. I read one of the comments, and THEY 100% TAKE CARE OF THEIR HORSES! They love the horses, they want them to be fully rested before riding again, and give them some breaks in the middle each session, the riders take care of the horses, so if you say that the staff don't care for the horses, you are wrong and if you think so then you take better care of them. I love saddlewood! RID: 35285

You will get amazing riding, both if you're advanced or a complete beginner. Many/most aspects are horse-related, but there are lots of activities and events that aren't. You'll remember this camp for the rest of your life... RID: 3611
