I went to camp wabasso and overall liked it but the staff was okay but some people were kinda of mean, also 2 girls in my cabin were homesick and the counslers just left them to cry and keep every one else awake. The facilities were good except for the bathrooms :(. I loved the activities! Also we didn't get to do all the activities we wanted.

I love camp Wabasso. Every one was so nice. I can't believe any of YOU people think it was bad. You haven't been there if you rated it badly. The activities were fun and i made friends easily. Every homesick girl was attended to. I love my camp! In case you didn't know, Christa McAulliffe went there.

I went to camp here for many years back in the early 70's. Some of my fondest memories are from my times spent at Wabasso. I was on the waterfront, and we always took a 3-4 day cannoe trip down the CT River. I don't know if they still do that, but we had soooo much fun!!! I don't remember the camp song I keep reading about, but I do remember a welcome song: "We welcome you to Camp Wabasso, might glad you're here - (missing a line). . . and raise a might cheer. We'll sing you in, we'll sing you out, and then we'll raise a might shout - Hail, hail, the gang's all here, welcome to Wabasso!" I wish we had a a camp like it here in Miami.

This is going to be my 5th year at Wabasso and I love it! I've meet some of my best friends at camp, and can't wait to meet new people too! The staff is AWESOME!! A ton of them are from other countries, which is awesome. and lots of them come back for a few years, so you get to know them even better. You sings TONS of songs at camp, get to swim all the time (even across the lake!!) have floating camp fires! go kayaking, play tons of games and last summer we got to hike a mountain nearby! I'm so excited for this summer to come already!!! i love wabasso!

Excellent camp.. The horse program is very good, along as you don't mind spending only a few hours at the barn and a half hour on the horses. This is fine with most campers though, cause you get to do other camp activites. Very good food, positive enviroment, welcomming staff!!!

From what I can tell from the interview that I had with them the camp director seems to have a pretty good head on her shoulders and it sounds like there would be no reason for any negative comments to sent her way. I'm excited for this summer.

Camp Wabasso is amazing! It has an environment that makes everyone feel comfortable and at home. I have visited several other camps, and to be perfectly honest, i wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. The staff there is awesome, all of the counselors seem to really care about the campers and are always there for them. There are lots of different programs to fit anyone's interests, such as horseback riding, drama, boating, & several others. One of the awesome things about Wabasso is that at the beginning of your session, you plan your own camp experience. You get to chose what activities you want to do, when you want to have cookouts, what you want to make, ect. There are so many awesome traditions there, such as camp names, going around the tables on your birthday, ad singing rock. Every year i go to camp, i come back a stronger and more confident person. Wabasso allows you to be yourself while trying and learning new things, making friends, and gaining self esteem.

I went to Camp Wabasso nearly 20 years ago, when I was 8, and it was a terrible experience. They assured my parents that the camp was accessible for physically disabled kids, but once I got there, they threatened my parents that if they did not send someone out to "handle" me, that I would be sent home. Aside from that, the staff and activities were horrible. It's interesting to see that even after 20 years, it's still getting bad reviews. Do they still sing the Camp Wabasso song? "...some call it fun but you may call it gladness...come join the fun and you'll forget your sadness...xomething something..."

This summer will be my fifth at Camp Wabasso.I'll be there as a counselor in training for 3 weeks.I've really gotten attached to it and I can't imagine going anywhere else.As a response to the negative reviews here, I honestly think that it was just bad luck that you didn't get a good group of girls. I've always been very happy. The long walk up to the hills isn't that bad by the end of the week, and i love coming home in such great shape. The raids are well-meant and usually the other cabin steals you to bring you to a cookout at their site. Basically, you just have to have a good attitude. Not everybody enjoys camp, even if it is as amazing as Camp Wabasso. I would suggest this camp to anybody, including younger girls, and I'll be bringing my 8 year-old cousin with me this year. The only reason I didn't give this camp a 5 for monetary value is because I'm going to have to pay $800 to be a CIT, when I'll be working for them anyway. It will be great experience though, so it's worth it.

This camp was without a doubt the worst i've ever attended. I went to this camp in the summer of 2004. I was placed in a cabin with more then 15 other girls, i hardly learned any of their names. The camp was set up in little communities, i was in the Riding community which consisted of two cabins who were always feuding with eachother. One of the camp traditions consisted of "raids" which meant people from other communities bursting into your cabin in the middle of the night ordering and pushing you around. It was terrible. I also felt sick one night at a campfire and was ridiculed by one of the counselors when i asked if i could go back to the cabin to rest. During the day when we would go riding we would have to walk a mile up a hill to get to the stables. The counselors also would yell at you if you said ew when the horses****ed on your boots. The food was terrible. The activities wern't great either. The best part of camp was when i jumped in my car and i left at the end.

this camp was so awesome! The programs are really fun, the cabins aren't very trashy ( there waaas some obscene things written on the screens, but what can you do) and the counselors really payed attention to each girl's individual needs. The counselors in my unit were Smiley, SnowFlake, and Indy in 06 and I found Indy to be especially helpful whenever someone was upset or had a problem, she always seemed able to relate to whatever the problem was. Snowflake was so much fun to talk to because she has so many interesting stories and she is like the sweetest person ever, and smiley was just insane, but in a good way. I cant wait to go back next summer!
