3/18/14   1     1     1     1     1   All of the 5 star ratings you see don't matter. The people who made camp so amazing, hired the best counselors ever, and were with us everyday have left. Now, it's like one of our summer dramas has come to life -- Plantation has been taken over by the scary ranch people, the mean office manager, and the crazy people who live in the big mansion in the middle of camp. Only thing is, in our drama Big John's voice woke us up from the horrible nightmare and now those people really have taken over camp. So sad. I'm just glad I'm too old for camp though my cousins will never get to go there now. RID: 47053
Click to report rating    7/17/13   5     5     5     5     5   Amazing, amazing place; worth every cent. The world should run more like Plantation with more people like Kelly and John in charge. My daughter has spent 2 summers there and talks all school year about going back. RID: 45211
Click to report rating    4/2/12   5     4     5     5     4   My daughter loved, loved, loved her experience at Plantation last summer and cannot wait to go back. She doesn't even want to look at other farm camps. She loved the gardening, the chores, activities, the staff, hiking, canoeing, visiting Fort Ross, and all of the animals. She was a little shy and reserved the first day, but by the time my husband visited halfway through camp, she could not wait until visiting time was over so that she could get back to her regular camp activities. I agree that the camp is a little expensive, but the experiences my daughter had turned out to be priceless! RID: 40693
Click to report rating    1/18/12   5     5     5     5     5   The staff is excellent, fun and youthful. The activities are always fun, kids want to be involved. My child was very shy before she went, and when she returned from camp she was outgoing and happy. Although it is a bit pricy, you get what you pay for! It's an awesome camp!! RID: 40145
Click to report rating    5/28/11   5     5     5     5     5   Plantation was by far one of the best experiences my kids have EVER had. The location, the friends, living in tents, caring for animals, hikes, making things. The beauty of the place is that rather than your kids being force fed a schedule (like school) the kids are able to choose what activities they do. And if they like it they can continue or try new ones. This part of camp was what struck me the most as it empowered my kids to choose and create their own day. It gave them confidence and I really noticed this upon their return. Parents worried about boys missing their video games...DON'T. They won't Parents worried about home sickness, Don't, they aren't for long. You will have a stronger more independent kinder child upon their return. A wonderful experience!!! RID: 35974
Click to report rating    5/25/11   5     5     5     5     5   Plantation Farm Camp sent my child home a more confident child. Where else could you build forts and learn to use the six magic words "What can I do to help?" Caring staff, fun activities, great surroundings. Our family could not recommend a place more. Click to report rating    3/23/11   5     5     5     5     5   I am the parent of two boys who have been campers at Plantation from the time that they were 9 and 8 years old respectively, for a total of about 18 camp years. As a transplanted East Coaster who attended summer camps for 8 weeks every summer from the time I was 9 yo and also worked as a camp counselor for many years, I am well aware of the high caliber of the staff and programming at Plantation. PFC is the ABSOLUTELY BEST CAMP that it has been my pleasure for my sons to experience! It is a warm, caring, and safe environment that fosters a sense of adventure. Camp allows the children/teenagers to explore the world around them and push themselves to do new and different activities that often times are not a part of, nor even available, in our busy (urban) daily lives. It also is low key enough that the kids can just relax and be themselves. John and Kelly are superb camp directors and surrogate "parents away from home"! Plantation is a camp that has something for everyone. RID: 35401
Click to report rating    3/3/10   5     5     5     5     5   I couldn't love Plantation more! I spent 8 summers as a camper and am about to embark on my 5th summer as a counselor. Everything about Plantation is aimed at bringing out the best in people and teaching everyone about community, environment, friendships, and so much more. I could go on forever singing the praises of camp, but I'll let you see yourself... I guarantee you'll keep coming back! RID: 32273
Click to report rating    10/24/07   5     5     5     5     5   Honestly, I can't imagine sending my kids to any other camp. The shorter camp that they went to doesn't even compare. They have made so many friends, their self-confidence is amazing, and have love every minute they are at camp. Being on the farm and having excellent food, sleeping out under the stars, hiking to the beach are just some of the things I hear about all year until it's time for them to go back. RID: 16462
Click to report rating    5/19/07   5     5     5     5     5   This camp has been around since the 50s and still maintains the core traditions upon which it was founded: cooperation, teamwork, respect, and fun. You come away with a sense that it's your own special place. Can't recommend it highly enough. RID: 10957
Click to report rating    1/16/07   5     5     5     5     5   The most incredible experience of my entire life, Plantation gave me self confidence and taught me lessons about myself, others, and nature. From horseback riding to friendship bracelets I was able to choose what I wanted to do everyday and when I wanted to. It is small enough to know everyone but big enough to be able to hang out with different people. My parents truly did me the greatest favor my sending me to camp, and it will always be my home away from home. RID: 6848
Click to report rating    12/3/06   5     5     5     5     5   i cant WAIT to go to camp again next summer! i am literally counting down the days. cant describe how much i love this place and everybody who goes there. RID: 5606
Click to report rating    10/17/06   5     5     5     5     5   I attended this camp as a child, and now my son goes there as well. It was (and is!) the most special place in my life. The chance to take care of animals on the the farm, the opportunity to ride horses, hike to the beach, swim in the lake. But most of all, the directors and counselors have created a safe place for my child to be himself, to grow, to learn, to play. He is his most confident, his most joyful, when he is at camp (and for a while after he comes home). I can't recommend Plantation enough. RID: 4057
Click to report rating    10/9/06   5     5     5     5     5   I've been attending plantation for 5 years. This camp welcomes all children and really is a home away from home. RID: 3852
Click to report rating    10/8/06   5     5     5     5     5   Basically the best camp ever. I've been rocking it for 7 consecutive years. It's actually my second home. I'm sure many others would agree. RID: 3832
