8/23/19   2     2     4     4     3   I went to this camp for seven years and had a good time. My last year, I was having issues with my mental health that affected my camp life. I was anxious because of the requirements and not having my normal coping mechanisms like YouTube. Two days after a panic attack, they sent me home with no warning. They didn’t talk to me or my psychologist, who they knew I spoke to. They didn’t consider any options other than the easiest one for them. I have sent them an email, and the response was sympathetic, but they didn’t seem like they regret their decision. If you are considering going to this camp and have mental health problems, seriously consider how you’d be at this camp and how many/what accommodations you need. (If you are going into the LT program, consider how you cope under stress.) This camp can be fun, but their lack of understanding of mental health and how to deal with it has changed my opinion about this place. Being sent home like this is not something that you want. Click to report rating    8/1/19   3     3     3     2     1   My son attended the sleepaway portion of this camp. Parents are not informed in advance that there is unlimited sugary snacks and desserts at all 3 MEALS (yes, even at breakfast!) Doughnuts, cake, pastries...yes, UNLIMITED!! No child can set there own limits when given the amount of selection they have, My son told me he was unable to fill himself up on regular food without having high sugar foods. In addition, the parent handbook states the beverage options are 'juice and water'. It never mentions unlimited sugar loaded sodas at every meal! I guess this is the way they entice children to want to come back! In addition, the camp is much more expensive that similar camps. For the money they charge, each camper should have their own personal nutritionist! The food quality is very poor. One get the impression the money the parent spend is not spent on their children, and ther eis alot of graft. With the diabetes epidemic in this country, it is shameful. RID: 52783

8/17/15   1     3     3     1     1   Terrible experience. Lots of bullying and the director and assistant do nothing to help address issues. They have an anti bullying handbook but do not follow their own guidelines. Some campers who are bullies are children of employees and I found this to be reason for the lack of action. Not a safe place to send a child if you are concerned with bullying or favoritism. Very expensive and not worth it. I would choose a different camp. RID: 49084

The staff has 1 day check-ins with the campers in their cabin talking about their feeling health their day and about anything else, this camp has a very big variety of activities, money well spent. Click to report rating    10/6/10   5     5     5     5     5   We've been sending our children for 6 years and find the program, and maturity of staff to be as good as any I have heard of. Great traditions and great location. We have noticed a number of upgrades to the facility over the years including Art Center, Boat House and Swimming Pool - very nice. The cabins could use some attention. My daughters cabin is a little tired but some of the boys cabins have undergone recent renovations. Hope the girls are next. My kids wouldn't look anywhere else and can't wait to be JCs. RID: 34195

Click to report rating    8/17/08   3     5     5     4     3   over the three years i've been going there the activities there are top of the line, but most of those statements are true, yes you do have to haves there or your screwed, counsilors are jerk and screw up your day some times, and take things way too seriusly RID: 25778
Click to report rating    2/9/08   4     5     5     5     5   I went to this camp for 3 years!!!BEST TIME OF MY LIFE!! i met the most amazing people there and i wish there was more room for older kids so i could be with my friends again. CCSC <3!!! RID: 20046
Click to report rating    1/30/08   3     3     4     2     1   A camp that focuses a lot on teen issues like drug use where drug and alcohol use on campus seem to be recurring problems. Probably more the fault of the snobby adolescents in attendence. Kind of cliquey, good activities, counselors are mostly good, but there are huge inconsistencies. Sexual harassment runs rampant at least male on male. The administration is not at all open to making personal choices besides those that they tell you you can make which they are usually forced to by law. Wally, the JC director, is not quite all he is cracked up to be. While he is a nice guy, he does not make everyone feel equally well liked. Severe problem with lack of discipline that could ultimately cost the camp a lot of money. I would think twice before spending the $$$ required. RID: 19650

Click to report rating    11/12/07   5     5     5     5     4   I spent 11 summers at CCSC at every level from camper to head counselor. I loved every summer. The staff is amazing, and the campers form close friendships. It is in a great location, directly on Cape Cod Bay, and has a strong tradition of over 85 years of camping in a family atmosphere. I highly recommend this camp to anyone. RID: 16997

Click to report rating    6/18/07   1     2     4     1     1   Male counselors are not in the mind set to make camp a good experience for the boys. Girls program seems much more nurturing. Boys were threatened and requests to call home denied. My son left early along with 3 other campers in his cabin. RID: 12185
Click to report rating    6/13/07   1     4     2     1     2   I went to ccsc for 3 years and I made great friends but i HATED my counselours because they favored and one told me to shut up and go away. I LOVE SAILING THERE. My sis loves it but i like BUCKS ROCK more! RID: 11947

Click to report rating    11/5/06   2     3     4     1     2   For the counselors its about socializing. Lots of couselors in training with other things to do than support the younger campers. Great if your 15 or older! Not so great for the younger boys though. Wouldn't recommend it. Especially for the money. RID: 4618
Click to report rating    7/12/06   5     5     5     5     5   CCSC was the best! i loved the counselors and everyone there was so considerate, and sweet! i am too old to camp there now, but i go to drop off my sister, and everyone still remembers me! 5 stars! RID: 1370
Click to report rating    6/22/06   5     4     4     4     3   It was fun! and while it is kind of hard to be a first year there, ask someone for help and they'll give it. RID: 1046
Click to report rating    6/7/06   2     5     2     1     2   There wasn't much thought or attention given to first time campers. everyone just sort of assumed you knew what was going on and where everything was. a bit annoying that way. RID: 694
