The camp encourages mean girl behavior. They do not know how to deal with children who are being bullied by other campers. Ruined sleep away camp for my daughter. Wish I had chosen a different less entitled camp. My daughter only stayed a week and that was too long. The girls were very cliquey, mostly care about what brands you have and do not support girls that come from different backgrounds.

They care more about profit than people ad it becomes very apparent as soon as the campers arrive. As a counselor all my reporting about issues and my campers well being goes ignored, and management is unable to organize and facilitate safe and fun activities. They treat staff poorly, don't communicate well, and gaslight us often. It's exhausting for us and even more so when we can't attend to campers needs because of it. I have to believe there are better places to send your child and better places to work as a counselor because my time here has me counting down the days and I'm not the only one. If you send your child here note that the few phone calls and singular visiting day to amount to even close the experiences they are having here and the camp is designed to load on a whole bunch of bad and when you're at your limit give you something good. (i.e. an entire week of issues and poor communication then a trip to 6 Flags). They underpay and overwork, and value $$ over the kids.

This summer will be my daughter’s third year at Danbee and she absolutely loves it! She talks about Danbee year round. Her letters to us always rave about how much she adores her counselors and bunk mates. She has been able to try so many new activities and has even become quite skillful in them. Taking her home at the end of seven weeks is equally heartwarming and heart breaking- she never wants to leave camp and cries the whole way home, which confirms we have chosen the right place. She loves the food and says they have lots of options during meal times. The directors have been very involved and a pleasure to communicate with. It is clear that they love what they do and care dearly about their campers. We are so happy to have found a place like Danbee! Our daughter looks forward to staying through her Wel-B-Yon summer!

This is our daughter's 2nd home! The theatre and dance programs have given her confidence both on and off the stage. She also started loving lake activities that she used to be scared to try. The new directors seem very motivated in empowering the girls. My daughter has loved her bunkmates and has kept in touch with them all year. She can't wait to get back to Camp Danbee!

PARENTS READ THE BAD REVIEWS. I KNOW FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE THEY ARE TRUE. THESE LITTLE GIRLS ARE ABSOLUTELY VISCOUS TO ONE ANOTHER. THEY RIP EACH OTHER APART. They only behaved one time when the boys came for the dance. Counselors can not do anything to help your child from the bullying because management does nothing. This is a camp where it is run by the campers not the counselors. There is nothing prestigious about this camp. It is all smoke and mirrors. PLEASE LISTEN TO THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS. All the bad reviews are true. Read them and then RUN!!

We are beyond pleased with our first summer at Danbee!! Our shy 9 year old daugther went to camp for the first time and came back a new version of herself. She's more confident. She speaks up for herself. She lights up when we talk about camp. She cannot wait to go back!! Neither can we.

My daughter started Danbee in 2019 and had such a wonderful summer. She was (we all were really) nervous that she was too old to start camp (she's in 6th grade now) but we could not have been more wrong. Danbee welcomed my daughter with open arms. The girls in her bunk were kind, funny and energetic. She loved the activities, she loved the traditions, and could not stop talking about the dancing. I was most impressed with how the camp handled some difficult girl dynamics in the bunk. I never expected everything to be smooth sailing with a bunch of 12 year old girls - but I felt so comfortable with the way the staff helped to resolve the issues. For a first year camp experience - I could not have asked for more! She's already talking about next summer.

Simply, we love Danbee! My daughter first went I. 2016 after a sub par experience elsewhere, and never looked back. She started going into 6th grade, and was a little nervous about being “old” when starting but she quickly made friends with the other girls (some returning and some new like her). They’ve been in the same bunk since! She’s already sad that 2020 is going to be her last summer at camp. My husband and I are just so glad she’s found a place where she is happy and growing!

We toured 4 camps before deciding on Danbee. My daughter has now completed her 2nd summer and I have been above and beyond happy with the communication, programming, counselors and the friendships she has made. We were worried about having her start camp as a 6th grader but she was warmly welcomed by all the girls. Danbee is a special place and my daughter is counting down the days until she is back with her summer friends!

DEAR PERSPECTIVE DANBEE PARENTS AND CAMPERS, IF YOU WANT YOUR CHILD TO WALK AWAY WITH A SCARED MIND AND BODY, DANBEE IS THE PLACE FORE YOU! I went for two years (2014-2015) and both summers were a living nightmare. In my first year, I only went for three weeks, and I was isolated completely by both my fellow bunk-mates and counselors. The girls in my bunk would treat me like complete trash (call me names, comment about my weight, the stuff I had, and made fun of my family). Danbee, if filled with JAPS (jewish-american princess') who expect you treat them like they own the camp. Counselors, must turn the other cheek for fear of being fired. The camp director Jay Toporoff ignores the problems of these girls, and favors returning and rich campers. I have never been in a room filled with more ENTITLED, disgusting human beings, who have no other pleasure then to make sure others feel poorly. All I can say is, if you want your daughter to turn in to a monster, this is the place for you.

Danbee is not the quality camp people believe. My daughter has been SO disappointed by this camp. With Jay Toporoff as the director it is his way or the highway! There are many other great all girls camps to choose from-go that route.

Our daughter loved Danbee and is counting the days until she can return. The camp is on a beautiful lake and offers a wide range of activities from lake sports to woodworking to dance to cheer to land sports. It has almost anything you can think of and the girls can customize their schedule through their electives. while the campus is spreadout, the younger girls are in one section with their own pool and the older camper bunks are in a separate area so it works well. Our daughter enjoyed the camraderie of the dancing in the dining hall and made great friends.

DO NOT WORK AT THIS CAMP! GO if you want your kids to be indulged brats. It's about money for managers. They CLAIM they expect good citizenship from the girls, but the girls aren't accountable. Jay namedrops saying things like "Your dad runs mtv. You should know this song!" Girls berate & abuse counselors; laugh when the counselors cry. counselors are paid squat. The kids PAY a lot, so counselors are expendable. Kids peeked at me showering, repeatedly poked my breasts & made fun when I menstruated. When I told management, they said, "but they're good kids". I was told to lie about it to the parents. Danbee hires a TON from UK. It's Indentured servitude. If a counselor quits, she payS Camp America the money Danbee paid CA to find us. Most of us got sick due to exhaustion & SCREAMING all the time (they call it spirit, but it's vocal torture and fake dancing)10 of us wanted but couldn't afford to quit. Jay lied to us about the job. Don't get suckered in. Once there, you're trapped.

We toured Danbee and liked it a lot. The facilities are beautiful... But the camp is very spread out and all the campers wanted was a ride in the golf cart to their next activity! All the girls eat at the same time and at first it seems fun but within minutes it becomes chaotic. If you are looking for a large camp with great facilities Danbee is a good choice. However, we decided to go with a smaller camp that gave its girls more personalized attention.

this past summer was my last summer as a camper and I'm so sad that i can't go back. i went to danbee for 7 years and had the most amazing time. i met the nicest people in the world, some of which have become my best friends/sisters. i know that sounds cheesy but its true! the activities are amazing, the staff is great, everything about camp is unbelievable!! when you're at camp you just feel like one big family and its the most special feeling!!!! my wel-b-yon year was everything i expected and more. it was incredible how my age group went from 4 bunks to 1 united house and it was sooo much fun to be with everyone. I didn't really appreciate camp until this year when I couldn't go back. Its the best place in the world!!!

ever seen the movie mean girls? this is where those type of girls go to camp when they're younger. i was in complete culture shock. i've never met such fake, caty girls in my life. and then the counselors aren't allowed to do anything about the poor behavior for fear of pissing off a source of money. jay and most of the staff really do mean well but at the end of the day they're a slave to the money and that has a negative effect on the overall camp. if you have a ton of money and want your child to either become an overachieving mean girl or to get bullied by manipulative brats, then by all means send them here.

So, in all the camp was not awful, it just was not good. It is not too expensive so campers do not have to be wealthy to go there. You also get a fair amount of personal attention. The problem is everything else. When I came home I cried all the time when I though about how the girls treated me there. The told me my **** were too big and made fun of the way I talk. It was so mean. The councilors didnt even do anything. One of their boyfriends would come every night and they would make out in front of all of us. I thought the camp was overall pretty bad.

Danbee is my home. It has brought me so much joy throughout the years, and the friendships i have made will last me forever. At times i wonder how Ill get through the rest of my life knowing that I wont get to go back. Wel-B-Yon 09 is going to be amazing and I know it will be the summer of my life. The friends you make, the experiences, the lessons you learn...danbee is my favorite place in the world and it will always be with me. Send your daughters here...danbee makes you a better person, and to be a part of something like this, another family...theres no other feeling like it.

this camp is ridiculous. the directors do not care for anything except money and are always giving tours. staff are lectured on the way to treat kids: not allowed to lecture the children if they misbehave or are acting up because they might write it in a letter home and the camp would look bad; we are told to lie to parents on parent visiting day and tell them their kid is wonderful even if we have a negative comment to tell the parent. we are told not to tell the parents anything bad about their kid and if we have nothing good to say about their kid, we are told to lie and make something up. counselors are put on the bottom of the priority list, especially if we are first-timers. we are nannies and slaves to the children. we have to do everything for them.

This was my final summer at camp Danbee and it was the best summer yet. I could not say any more nice things about Danbee. I cry myself to sleep every night at home because i miss camp so much and i wish i could go back to relive all of my summers at camp. Camp is my home away from home and the friendships that i have made here will last a lifetime. I know that sounds cliche but it is so true. I have so many sisters it is indescribable. The feeling camp creates is unbelievable. I can't imagine anyone living without camp. The activities are amazing and the staff is so nice and well qualified. Danbee is amazing and so is WBY 08.

The camp was amazing but the girls were horrible. The counselors were not very understanding bc most of them are from different places than us. I loved the spirit but sometimes it was a little too much. We dance on chairs which I loved but we have to dance even when we don't want to and we're tired.I loved it the first three years but after awhile the girls became cliquey and mean. I went there for five years and I decided not to come back. I'm very happy with this decision. One other thing you should know about this camp before you send your daughter there is that every year the camp is getting worse bc there are so many tours and it makes the camp more superficial. I felt that all the director was starting to care about is money. I know of about 35 girls out of 50 who are not coming back. The bunks were great and the activities were amazing but the people make the camp and alot of the people who make up Danbee are rich, spoiled and mean.

i went to danbee for a few years and i didnt have the best experience. after the first or second summer, everyone becomes very bratty and cliquey. the friendships are not nearly as close as other camps. the strictness and amount of rules ruins alot of fun memories and oppertunities. for example, this camp has no canteen to get snacks and hang out in, or going on late nite adventures to other bunks. u should know that danbee is very fake like a commercial. all they care about is looking good for tours and keeping annoying traditions alive. they force u to dance for an average of 3-6 songs every meal every day, if u dont want to dance they yell at u. if u dont look like ur having fun they yell at u. things like that are always occuring at danbee. lastly the counsler/camper relationships r usually horrible b/c the counslers r always international and dont understand the lifestyles of the campers and vice versa, while at many camps, the staff r former campers and return

As their camp physician for one week, a couple of years ago (I am a pediatrician and was a camper, waterfront director and camp physician for over 12 seasons at different camps, Danbee is great all around. My one negative was the lunches which seemed very light and a bit too much of the salad but maybe girls eat less than boys. The directors are top.

i loved danbee, but i dont think its a real camp. i went for two years, going into 4th and 5th grade. the counselors were nice and all but there are too many girls running around so the counselors do not get to personally know you. I left camp after that to go to a different camp with my friend. that place had bad, falling apart facilites, brown lawns, and dirty bunks. but the feeling there was so great, the traditions were amazing and the friendships are lifelong. it will be my third summer there and i love it. danbee is great and the website makes danbee look highly appealing. my one complaint is that is not a true camp because the friendships are not too close. if you want a good safe camp? choose danbee. if you want your daughter (or son) to experience the TRUE meaning of going to sleepaway camp, dan be is not for you.

I have gone to Danbee for 5 years now and this will be my 6th summer. It is an amazing place and a great summer home. Danbee isn't just a place, it's a family. I would highly recommend visiting the camp before applying, because it is very open and hilly so hiking occurs on an almost daily basis. Other than hills, Danbee is a great place, and I would highly recommend it. It may seem expensive, but it is worth every cent. This is my last summer, and I am looking forward to working there in future summers. The directors are really sweet and care about every camper. They know practically every camper by name and even eat and dance with us in the mess hall. If your looking for very fun summer, Danbee is the perfect place for you. The facilities are amazing, as well as the very kind and caring staff. There are always activities available to every age group. Even in the rain, really great activities are planned. You make so many amazing friends at Danbee, and the friendships last a lifetime.

I sent three of my daughters to Danbee, one for six year, one for 4, and the last one had her first year last summer. All three girls enjoyed the camp, especially the all girls environment. The facilities are very nice, and the staff are good as well. There are numerous activities to choose from that keep camp interesting, according to my 7 year old! However, the camp is very large to girls can't get personal attention as easily as in a smaller camp. The camp is also quite expensive considering tuition, required uniform, transportation, etc. However, I would reccomend the camp to any girl looking for a full summer camp.

We have had a very good experience at Danbee but also believe that it is so large that it is difficult if you want the directors to give your child individual attention. Facilities are excellent. Cost is VERY high especially with extras. They are also changing things very dramatically this year...uniforms for older kids, one visiting day, partial summer campers and we don't know how that will effect the overall quality of the camp.
