Click to report rating    8/8/13   5     4     4     5     4   I am a parent who sent my child to SIG last year (Horrible!) and CTY this year (Wonderful). CTY was a great experience and while my child was shunned at SIG at CTY she was embraced (I think the atmosphere was cultivated by the staff and management at both camps and obviously CTY wins there). She is a happy camper this summer and has friends she is staying in touch with. At SIG I did notlearn how bad her days were until camp eded and she came home to cry and worry if her new school (middle school) was going to be as abrasive and unfriendly as the kids she met at SIG (sad how a few unfriendly folks can target a person and any potentially friendly kids were scared away). So sad at SIG, so glad CTY exists. RID: 45573

Click to report rating    4/2/07   5     5     5     5     5   Definitly the best academic camp ever! The aspects of the camp were very educational, featuring college classes for middle school kids. RID: 9370
Click to report rating    3/2/07   5     5     5     5     5   CTY is the BEST!! The 3 weeks I spent there were the BEST of my life. At this camp, learning is mixed with fun activities, so it's educational yet fun and exciting. Also, living in the dorms with hallmates is really fun and forms really tight bonds among campers. The hall residence assistants (RAs) are soo friendly, helpful, and great in general. The facilities are very nice and clean, as they are normally used all the time during the school year by college students. Every weekend, campers can do activities from sports to arts and crafts to mystery activities. Also, there are always theme days, such as Casino Day, on the weekends and dances on Fridays. Campers develop a sense of independency at CTY, yet they are watched and paid attention to. PLEASE don't rule out this camp because it's an "academic" camp. It's an AMAZING place to spend the summer and is so unbelievably fun. I made a lot of really good friends here. I recommend this camp for ANYONE and EVERYONE who is eligible to go!!! RID: 8250

Click to report rating    10/20/06   5     5     5     5     4   CTY at Johns Hopkins University has got to be the best experience in my life. There was a very diverse community of intellectuals my age there who all wanted to learn something worthwile. The classes were typically college or high school level (the camp is for middle and high schoolers), and all of them are taught by highly qualified teachers. Not only was this camp prestigious for its academics, but it also provides the student with social activities. In JHU, there were "meet markets", dances, talent shows, carnivals, gambling, the olympics, and much more. All of this combined to be one of the greatest (if not the greatest) camps I have ever attended. It is beyond fantastic-it's spectacular. RID: 4184
