Click to report rating    6/11/21   4     4     4     5     5   this camp… oh wow it really is an amazing place! it is a very very relaxing place! i don’t think it’s soo religious and i’m not religious at all yet I LOVE IT!!! everyone is included in everything! no one ever feels unheard or left out. it is going to be my fifth summer this year and after COVID it’s gonna feel like a huge relief. it is literally my home away from home, and i look forward to it every year. some people say the unit heads never remember peoples names and aren’t the best, but from my experience they are amazing! they give everyone attention, and they recognize me WITHOUT my glasses (which is very hard to do i may add) overall i really recommend sending your kid here. your child WILL be accepted and WILL be loved.  7/23/14   2     4     2     3     2   This is the same for Crane lake Camp which is owned by Camp Eisner. Basically there is too much religion. Kids can go to temple at home. Facilities are fine. RID: 47682

6/26/14   5     5     4     4     5   i love eisner camp! i am going back for my fifth summer and i can't wait. in a lot of camps i know there is a definite caste system, but that's not the case at eisner. while there are more popular people, everyone has friends and is included. my friends and i aren't the popular people, but that's fine and we have so much fun regardless. all of the shy and quiet kids are included. the counselors in the bunk are really awesome and attentive to every camper. however, the unit heads and senior staff suck, my unit heads don't even know my name! unless you're a really loud kid or take a lot of meds the senior staff don't give you any attention. food is great, facilities rock. only thing i wish was there was more nature and not so much indoor stuff. TOO MUCH AIR CONDITIONING! activities are fun but i wish there was more variety. the services are so fun and make me LIKE being jewish. it's not overly religious, just the perfect amount. outgoing or shy, YOU WILL FIT IN AT EISNER CAMP! :) RID: 47463

12/10/12   3     5     5     5     5   Eisner is a great place. What's sad however is that while the staff, unit and department heads are all wonderful, the directors are pretty AWFUL. I usually don't write in all caps but when I saw awful I mean it. Louis Bordman is an angry, egomaniacal, self-centered individual who makes life quite difficult for all staff that work for him. Without some serious changes to the senior staff I fear that many campers and staff members will stop coming back after getting tired of working for Louis. Without him I would give the staff a "5". Working at camp after being a camper there was a great experience, aside from Louis' presence. I love working with kids, regardless of the lack of sleep and salary, but working for senior management that looks down on all staff, treats them like children (be they 22 or 28), and is impossibly resistant to change, makes me and many others stay away from Eisner until Louis retires. That day cannot come soon enough. RID: 43190

7/5/11   5     5     5     5     5   Eisner is my home. The staff is good, though sometimes there is one bad staffer, or a staffer who is a little to enthusiastic. They are all really eager to help campers in any way. The facilities are very good. Eisner is improving them every year. Just this year, they redid all of the old bunks. The new bunks are very roomy and do not have animals living in them (some of the old bunks had some animals). Also there is a fairly new indoor sports and fitness center that is really great. There are a wide variety of activities available. Many of them are great learning experiences. There are 3 activity periods-one more sporty (ex soccer, boating), one more "artsy" (Drama, arts and crafts) and one instructional sport (volleyball, basketball) Every week, you get to choose your top activities for each. Then, the staffers will place you into activities based on your choices. You do not always get your 1st or 2nd choice though. Eisner is the best place in the world RID: 36289

Click to report rating    3/30/11   2     1     1     1     2   Eisner was terrible expirence for me. i was with my friend (i was like 8) and a mosquito was on the ceiling and we started screaming and conselours were like shut up just kill it. i mean come on we were 8 yrs old, r u kidding me! RID: 35496
Click to report rating    10/1/10   5     5     5     5     5   Eisner is my home. Not my second home, my first. i grew up there. 10 years. My best friends in the world all went there, its how we met. my couselors and my entire unit were family by the end of the summer. The activities are creative, and it makes you feel connected to Judaism. the staff doesn't force Judaism on you, but instead they give you new inavative ways to express yourself through art and song and dance and writing. i love it. its worth the money, trust me. RID: 34168
Click to report rating    6/29/10   5     4     5     5     5   The best camp ever! It really is where best friends are made and you make them through fun games, sports, bunk time, and bonding activities. If you're looking for an exhilirating Reform Jewish experience where your child will have no trouble making friends, this is the place to send your child. RID: 33185
Click to report rating    6/21/10   5     5     5     5     5   Eisner is an amazing place where every child has experiences that last a lifetime. Friendships formed there are the deepest of all. The best times of my life were spent at Eisner. This camp is like no other, all the campers call it their 2nd home by their 2nd day. RID: 33079

I LOVE EISNER SO MUCH IT ISNT EVEN FUNNY!! YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY COME! it is the funnest thing in the world all the people are so nice they are my BEST FRIENDS IN THE WORLD<3 like i would no joke die if i couldn't come back to eisner. i have more fun in those two months than i do in the whole rest of the year. And don't listen to the bad posts. the people who said those probably such losers that they had no friends and thats y they hate it. its REALLLY hard not to have friends at eisner and theres no bullying OMGFGGG ITS AMAZING!! RID: 26331
Click to report rating    6/24/08   1     1     1     1     1   I went to this camp for a hebrew school retreat and the camp was disgusting! I stayed in the manor house and there was a mouse in our room! It was a really weird and gross camp and I don't recomend it at all. RID: 24223
Click to report rating    6/20/08   5     4     5     5     5   Eisner is so much fun, although I never got to climb the tower in 2 years!!! Other then that, it's great. I'm missing the school trip to Medieval Times to go to Eisner. Every jewish kid should come here. I have a friend from Switzerland who comes here EVEEY YEAR!!! RID: 24021
Click to report rating    5/13/08   5     3     4     4     5   I basically grew up at eisner. i was there for 7 ****ing years. i loved it. i was a trouble maker so there were definitely some difficult times. food is decent. counselors are ****ing amazing. i love them. i know that its old and theres no real lake but who cares? we have beautiful pools. lakes are nasty anyways. and if you dont like the jewness of it then don't come back. it can get annoying, but you get used to it. best times of my life were spent at that place. can't wait to be a counselor. RID: 23133
Click to report rating    3/7/08   4     4     4     4     4   its really good if you like art and you like going to services. i did not lie it so much because im not upsessed with jewish services and art i mean if u really like art and u want an old world felling go to eisner. the people are really nice. i went when i was going into second grade RID: 21046
Click to report rating    2/28/08   3     5     5     5     5   OK, THIS CAMP ROCKED! I went there for my first time last year, and I have to go back. I mean, thats where my parents met. You never know what happen to me! Good food, plenty of attention, and some of the greatest activities, but my councelers could have been better. Before I went, I was nervous about being bored at the services, but the view behind the outdoor sanctuary was AMAZING! Eisner, best month of my life. RID: 20771
Click to report rating    2/28/08   5     4     5     5     5   AMAZING CAMP!! THIS WILL BECOME UR LIFES OBSESSION. U MAKE AMAZING FRIENDS AND THE COUNSELORS ARE THE CRAZIEST PEOPLE WHO R TRAINED BY THE BEST! RID: 20768
Click to report rating    10/13/07   3     3     2     4     3   i went to this camp. it was ok. if you like art its the place to be. the food is good. it is a very old camp. theres not a real lake. the lake that they have used to be a pool. you cant really do anything in it. it was my first sleepaway experience. it was a pretty good experience. its a very jewish camp. they had services every morning. its not religious thopugh. the people are very nice. especially the owner. they have a humungous pool.with idf i remember correctly a waterslide. you have two elective periods a day no matter how old you are. another good thing about this camp is it is close to a big town. its not like its in the middle of nowhere like some camps. so on visiting day there is hotels to stay in and thats very nice. the cabins are pretty nice. so overall this camp is very artsy and if you like sports more then art it wouldnt be the ideal camp for you. the only reason why i didnt like it was because i dont love art.so if you like art its the camp for you. its a good value. RID: 16171
Click to report rating    10/2/07   5     4     4     5     5   Eisner is my home, my life, and my reason for being. The people I love most in this world go to Eisner. The staff are fantastic, and I highly recommend coming back as staff, all you Olim 07'ers, as long as you can put up with Louis. Kellner's this summer, so that should be cool. You'll really appreciate our home ten times more as staff. And yes, it's a big camp, but within ten minutes of getting there as a first time camper (or even staff member) you should have at least three best friends for life. Great times, and I can't wait to go back for staff week '08! RID: 15758
Click to report rating    8/23/07   5     4     4     4     5   OMG! this summer has been the most phenomenal summer i've ever had! its my 6th year and my first time going both sessions...lemme tell ya, my first maccabiah was rockin' and i got to win my first time too! there r services every night, but its really nice to have to relax and reflect on the day you've had...which usually is incredible. cant wait for next summer to come rollin' along...isnt it great? OLIM '08! RID: 14381
Click to report rating    8/22/07   5     5     5     5     5   i don't know what everyone is talking about, eisner is old but it is amazing, you wouldn't even relize that it was religious, everyone is so nice and caring and it's so much fun! If you really want to rate the camp you go there yourself and you decide if you like the camp. No doubts that you wouldn't! RID: 14360
Click to report rating    6/21/07   5     4     5     4     5   This is such a good camp there is too much good stuff to say about it i cant put it all down in 1000 characters dont listen to the bad reviews theyre just written by loser liars who have no lives five days until camp baby i cant wait sorry about the lack of punctuation RID: 12316
Click to report rating    6/20/07   5     5     5     5     5   I LOVE THIS CAMP I ALLREADY MET A GIRL THAT I LOVE THAT LIVES NEAR ME BUT WE MET IN CAMP BUT WE GOT KICKED OUT FOR MAKEING OUT lol RID: 12266
Click to report rating    6/16/07   4     1     1     2     1   The staff are nice, but there is not much personal attention b/c our cabins are so big. The lake is contaminated so we can't swim there which stinks, and the facilities aren't that great anyway. All in all its not great. Try Becket I tried Eisner didn't work but Becket was great. RID: 12099
Click to report rating    6/7/07   5     5     5     5     5   Eisner is the greatest place on earth. This will be my six yr.(OLIM 07!) food is actually good(disregard everyone else, i am very picky and i eat 95% of it), the activities are awesome, the staff is amaizng, if there is anything you ever need to talk about, counselors are always there to talk. although we arent good at sports, we participate in a lot of tournaments and do well quite often. The Infirmary(nurse) can be made better cuz they sorta dont know what to do for a lot of things. Maccabiah is soo much fun. everyone gets so intense and since its not supposed to be talked about in bunks, fights about what team is better dont occur. You get so close with your bunkmates. Some of them have become my best friends. RID: 11645
Click to report rating    3/18/07   4     2     2     3     3   OK. Eisner. It was okay, I guess. We all had the same schedule and there was a lot of violence in the cabins. But other than that, there wasn't much fun. Everybody hated each other. So yeah. I guess it was okay. And we had services every night. EVERY NIGHT!!!! Completely pointless. I honestly think we were giving the lord Adonai too much attention. Once or twice a week is okay. But every night?! Come on! But regardless, I have heard worse things about Crane Lake. They have rats there, apparently. Oh, but Maccabbiah's cool. Yeah. That was pretty cool. So if you even consider going to Eisner (which you shouldn't; instead go to French Woods or Stage Door Manor), go second session. 'Cause Maccabbiah's da bomb wit a capital O. RID: 8783
Click to report rating    1/1/07   5     4     4     5     5   Excellent, warm, loving -- everyone who ever experienced time at Eisner feels like family -- forever!!!! RID: 6404
Click to report rating    12/17/06   5     5     5     5     5   7 years of my life. Olim '06. Obviously the rating for Eisner is not as high as it should be, because there are people who attend our rival camp who have apparently posted here. The personal and spiriutal connections are very present. The camp is not overpopulated. The bunks are fine, if you clean them correctly obviously. The food quality is declining, but it's still decent. RID: 6066
Click to report rating    12/3/06   1     1     1     1     1   dont spend your hard earned money here. there were wayyy to many people and i didnt feel a good connection. the food sucked and the cabins were gross. RID: 5621
Click to report rating    11/11/06   5     5     5     5     5   My son has gone for three years and loved it each time. He stays in touch with his friends via email and some visits during the school year. Lots of personal attention. Great counselors and activities. Please disregard above comments from jerks about multiple camps. It's not credible to think that one camper knows about Eisner AND Crane Lake and all URJ camps. They are different. You only get to go to one at a time. RID: 4884
Click to report rating    11/3/06   5     4     4     5     5   I never went to Eisner for summer camp but it still holds a dear place in my heart. Every year in November, my temple along with 3 others goes up there for the weekend. I've had some of the best times there ever and met some great people and that was ONLY 3 DAY!! I can't imagine what it's like for a whole summer. Eisner will forever be special to me. Especially playing Apple Quiditch in the mansion and dropping our wrapped up eggs down the stairs. So many memories that I will never forget! RID: 4550
Click to report rating    10/17/06   5     5     5     5     4   crazy expensive but the most amazing place ever where every summer is the best of your life. the people you meet are incredidable and there is a lot of international staff that are really cool. it is religious but only to the extent that your with other jews which can be cool since atleast where i go to school there are 5 other jews in my grade. you have a lot of choice in what you do. the only thing you have to do and dont have options about is swim but the intstuctors are cool and on most days swimming is a looked forward to part of the day. there is an animal farm that is really cool. it is often described as a home away from home but to me its just home and more so than where i live. eisner is the reason the summer is my favorite season and the people who are ther make the time spet pricless. RID: 4058
Click to report rating    10/7/06   1     1     1     1     2   Really bad. The food is not good, and the stuff is really bad. The counselors dont want to be there, don't go! RID: 3814
Click to report rating    8/25/06   3     3     3     3     1   it sucks because its so big and you dont get to know anybody. i dint like it but i can see why some people would RID: 2401
Click to report rating    8/25/06   5     5     5     5     5   This camp is AMAZING! I just got back and loved every minute of it. I can't wait for Olim 07. It's been the best six years of my life. There's not way you can't love it. I miss it it soo much. I LOVE EISNER! RID: 2391
4/11/06   5     4     1     4     3   I went to iZNR for four years-- great time, but it was lacking something... I enjoyed my friends, the councelors, the judaism, the activities, but there was just some disconnect. I found my answer in a book called How Goodly are thy tents-- about Jewish camps-- a book worth reading for those who are unsure about the camp expierence. RID: 132
