Ok camp but does not have the history of Eisner. Overly strict cell phone policy. Not only do they take it away from you but they kick you out of camp for a few days.

Crane Lake Camp truly changed my life. I spent many wonderful summers at this camp and made friends that will last a lifetime. I cannot imagine what my life would be like without Crane Lake and I plan to return for many summers in the future.

What an awful camp. It was overcrowded and always dirty. They check everyone for lice on opening day and it doesn't stop lice from being part of the summer experiences. The terrain is all rocky and hilly and it is impossible to walk around without getting scraped and hurt. The religious stuff is over the top too. you can't even use the bathroom without getting a Hebrew lesson. Kids are crammed into the bunks and the counselors are nasty and/or overwhelmed. The parents are completely cut off from their kids so there's no escape. Even if you write them a letter that you are hating it, when they call the staff will downplay what you say and you are trapped like a prisoner until your sentence there is up. Terrible place.

After having spent 6 summers at CLC (and more to come), it has quickly become a huge part of my life. The campers and staff there truly are a family, and you make the most amazing friendships every summer. While CLC definitely doesn't have the most high-end facilities or the best food, that's completely negligible in the grand scheme of things, as your summers there are centered around making lasting friendships and participating in the camp's overwhelming spirit and outstanding traditions. Additionally, while some may complain about the Jewish aspect of the camp, I believe it just adds to CLC's overall spirit and allows kids to really connect with their religion more. CLC is an outstanding Jewish sleep-away camp that means the world to me, and I highly recommend.

I have been going to CLC for 7 years. This is the place i can be myself. I would not trade it for anything. I love all of the friends that i made and the times i have spent on camp. I wish everyday that i can go back this upcoming summer but i have to go on a trip with my family. But i will definitely be going the summer after. I can't imagine my life without camp.

The first two years I went there I loved it. In my third year there the new director had ruined everything!!! I still made many new friends and had a lot of fun. The one time I didn't behave well, they completely overreacted and they weren't interested in my side of the story. The camp mom interrogated me in her office as if I had killed someone and they threatened to send me home. I don't know why but I still want to go back (I think it is because of the amazing friends I made). Also, for some reason, the camp schedule interfered with my bunks' schedule and we only did archery once (I went for a month) and we missed the camp out. And the food was terrible until the chef was fired. There are some great things about this camp, but I don't like the tone that the new director sets.

Where to begin, this camp was awful. There were a bunch of religous fanatics. Also, a counselor said to me" ______ you have no ****."

I went to a different camp for 5 years, and it was an emotionally scarring experience. When I came here, I was immediately accepted and I felt right at home. The jewishness is a little bit over the top, but it definitely gives the camp a lot of spirit. The counselors are amazing, and everyone is so close to one and other. This is definitely the definition of a great jewish camp.

This camp used to be good when the Ulanoffs owned it but now it is owned by Camp Eisner who cares more about Camp Eisner not Crane Lake. This camp is too religious maybe the kids should just go to their local Temple for the summer instead of trekking up to MA.

I know my rating's look bad, but that deffinaltley was not my impression of the camp. I'm not sure why some people don't like this camp... i guess wherever you go you may or may not fit in, but when i went i found the people to be very nice, and it's coed, so i love that because my first summer i didn't fit in with the girls, but i was friends with a lot of boys. the facilities are eek, the food blech, but i like the jewishness because i think it makes the camp feel like a community. a lot of people think the services are boring, but i always liked them. it is a lot easier to make friends here than it was at some other camps i went to that were all girls. overall i LOVE crane lake a LOT.

i love crane lake, and for me it is like a home away from home after just two summers, but when people say they feel unpopular i understand, but i have this to say. there is no such place where nobody is mean and everyone loves everyone. but, at crane lake i think everyone has the oppurtunity to bond with counselers and campers, even if they dont feel like they're the most well-known or popular. i love crane lake for the people, who really will love you when they get to know you. clc is amazing and i love it, even if the bunks are a little leaky... i think its endearing.

i love CLC!!! this year will only be my second year, but relly, its like my 2nd home. i have made so many friends there and talk to them daily. i even talk 2 the counselors really often, and am like best friends with one of the maintenance guys. it was sooo fun, i loved all the water activities and everything the best. the only thing was the bunks which were infested with bugs, but hey, what can you expect from a camp bunk?

i see how some people think it is a great camp, the people, the activites and everything. but, you have to understand, these are the people who made friends easily, people who fit right in. there are some people who don't, and at clc there is no one who cares. i went for 2 summers. the first summer was terrible i made no friends and npt because of what i did but no one felt the need to include me. i went for a second summer and the same thing happened. its good for sports and activities but if u are looking for a summer home that truly is one big happy family inclduign EVERYONE, this is not for you. and i would know.

This camp is amazing because there are so many kids from so many different places. Crane Lake is a bubble free from the outside world. You are free to be yourself and act individually. by attending Crane Lake I gained a lot of self respect and self confidence. This will be my sixth summer and I really look forward to it.

it will be my 11th summer at crane lake this year in 2007 and each year was better then the last. I started at the age of eight before the camp became part of a jewish orginization. The lifelong friendships and memmeries are some of the best experiences i ever had and will have. I am sad this coming year is my last but i will never forget how crane lake made me the person i am,

crane lake has made me who i am today because of the experiences i've had. this summer will be my 7th summer at camp and i am so excited for OLIM '07!! i don't understand how people can have a bad time - you just have to be open to trying new things and in the end you will see how much you loved it. i was so scared to do the high ropes course blindfolded, sleep out in the woods, go wakeboarding - but after i did it i felt so great and i dont think you can feel that anywhere else - "it's a place where you can be you, its a time for fun and wishes that can all come true"...the kids are great and the staff is so great...this summer my staff were what made it my best summer yet because they were just like another camper yet could help us with any problems we were having...i love crane lake camp and always will <3

this camp is my second home. i was there for nine summers. i was a color war captain for the white mobster, and won fight song in 2000. i love this camp with all my heart. my dad was a counselor there in '75 and '76. my brother is a counselor there too. i wish i could be a counselor, but i hav another job. i visit every summer. herb is like a second father to me. it became a jewish cam in like '99. it has changed a lot, but i still love. it just got a little to jewish for me. i am old school, but clc is clc and i will always love it.

this came was my home for 4 summers and i wouldn't have changed anything for the world. i've made some of my best friends there and i loved every minute of it, for you people that hated it, you probably sat in a lump on your bed the summer and made no effort. Camp is what you make of it and no place is going to be fun unless you take advantage of everything.

Crane Lake was the worst camp. I loved the jewish part, but the counselors favor the kids way too much and I did not feel that I could fit in. At this camp, it was either you were popular or an outcast. Do not go to this camp it was a waste of a summer. I thought I would love it but it turned out I strongly disliked it. Don't make the same mistake as me.

Crane Lake has undergone some huge changes the past few years. It went from bring an independant camp, to being taken over by UAHC/URJ, then combined with nearby Eisner, now is reinventing itself. The camp traditions are gone, although new ones are forming, and with time, this will become a camp worth coming to.
