This camp is just so amazing I love it so much this year will be my 3rd year and I just can't wait if you are trying to decide if you want your kid to go here do it they will absolutely love it. This camp has the BEST counselors that are nice kind funny and ALWAYS positive they bring you to a good mood when you're sad and they will hang out with you when you are playing games they will do funny cheers at lunch with you and will always put a smile on your face no matter what. Going to this camp made me so happy and I'm so happy that I did they made me feel so special and happy and when you're there you don't ever get judged and it makes me so happy that I can go to a place and feel welcomed calm and happy. So, if you are ever thinking about sending your kid there DO IT.

Simply cannot day enough about this place as a former camper and now a parent. There are a million summer camps - and then there is Tecumseh. Anyone who dings Tecumseh for no electricity in cabins or bathroom facilities is missing the point. By design, campers are disconnected from their regular world, without the comforts, technology, etc. so they communicate, become independent and are not spoiled. Great coaching, mentoring and a fantastic new director. It is not for everyone. Tecumseh is for kids who want to reach their full potential as a person first and an athlete second. Sports are a focus, but so are mountain trips, a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta by campers and counselors, and camp prayers and huddles (both involve counselors sharing experiences to help shape values). Tecumseh is not for everyone - only send your son if you want to be a part of a great tradition that will push you, mold you and create lifelong bonds. Counselors are fun - kids have a blast. The Best.

Amazing Summer Camp with an emphasis on sports which builds character through time tested programs. Camp Tecumseh changed my son's outlook on life.

If you are a parent considering Tecumseh for your son, ask yourself the following questions: why do they ask that my son have a lock for his trunk? Why does a Tecumseh boy below refer to boys who can't "cut it" at Tecumseh? Why does another review say it is "loosely run"? Why do they employ campers to do work that all campers could contribute to? Why do they give out awards based, in part, on "manliness" and "work ethic"? Tecumseh caters to a specific boy: highly athletic, confident, assertive, and preferably from an affluent Main Line Philadelphia family. I hope that they are pursuing a cultural shift with their new director but even his bio speaks only of his being a highly decorated lax bro, and says nothing about his love of camp, let alone Tecumseh. World class coaches and athletes are great, but if not paired with a resolute focus on values like kindness, inclusiveness, self-discovery, respect, and selflessness, a camp's culture is just off.

Tecumseh has a great marketing video, but if you’re smart don’t buy the hype. We sent our son who loves sports and were very disappointed. Supervision and communication with parents is poor. The Director is new and doesn’t know how to deal with parents or cultivate a sense of trust. Tecumseh attracts a Philly-centric group. The typical profile of a Tecumseh boy is a Main Line, Elitist, Lax Bro. Tecumseh masks its shortcomings under the guise of tradition and rustic, but it seems to be a breeding ground for privileged bullies who are not nice. Not to mention the food is horrible, they have one outhouse as a bathroom, give lip service to instilling values, and have a win-at-all costs, exclusionary, favorites mentality for their most important intercamp competition (fyi: this is camp, all kids should play something; and it’s not a rivalry when you lose once in 18 yrs). We wanted to love Tecumseh, but having experienced it firsthand we can’t recommend it at all despite a wonderful setting.

This is the greatest camp on God's Green Earth. Founded by 3 track & field Olympians in 1903, the sole purpose of the Camp is to turn good boys into better ones. The natural and built facilities are everything that anyone could dream of while the professional guidance and coaching will give a camper the confidence to compete in any circumstance knowing that the goal is to improve yourself in body, mind and soul and if you can win that's great but your life is a process not a certain outcome or result. The other campers are terrific, motivated young boys and young men who come to realize that they are able, that they aren't just another kid to the people at the camp. Everyone comes to know that it's a special place and as time goes on that it's far more than that, Camp Tecumseh is where boys work hard and play hard to become better athletes and better people and as they accomplish it they do so partially by helping their fellow campers, counselors and staff do the same. Beautiful!

The place is dusting... In the bathrooms there are no stall doors, not a place to send your child.

When you show up at Tecumseh it may not seem like much, but by the end it becomes your home. Counselors are incredible, campers are great, food is nothing to brag about but not awful, the values taught are very important too. Everyone here changes as a man and as an athlete. The negative reviews are obviously from the rival camp Winaukee which is known to teach kids 0 values. Tecumseh's teams are also winners. Since going there none of the teams have had losing records and many teams are undefeated. Tecumseh is awesome and the greatest place to send any young athlete

CT is the best place on earth. Every single counsellor has vast experience in the sport that he coaches. At Tecumseh, the good athlete can be turned into the great athlete. Campers are encouraged to step out of their comfort zone and try something new and make new friends. I myself have been a camper there for 4 years, and I have learned how to win and lose with class. The food is OK, but CT is a sports Camp, not a luxury cruise. The facilities are wonderful and are maintained beautifully by Tecumseh's hard working maintenance staff. Each camper receives terrific 1 on 1 instruction and attention from the counsellors. There is no other place I'd rather send my summers than Camp Tecumseh.

I read these negative comments and I smile. I can only imagine they were written by Winnaukee and Pemi girls or kids who simply can't cut it at Tecumseh. Tecumseh is a special place, a spiritual place, a place where bonds and friendships are forged for a lifetime. I can't not say enough and how lucky I was to have attended Tecumseh (2000-2003). I came from the suburbs of Chicago (only one from Chicago) and was welcomed with open arms. The sports programs are top notch and the counselors are superior to any other camp. Tecumseh is a place of integrity and you can see the difference in Tecumseh Men in the way they carry themselves. God Bless Tecumseh. Justin Rue

We just picked up our 9 year old. He had a wonderful time. He was a bit homesick in the beginning, but the counselors and staff at CT handled it perfectly. He was only there for a few weeks, but he seems to have grown in so many ways. He is more mature, seems to have learned a lot, and made many friends. I was astounded by the type of training he received, particularly as he prepares to play football this fall. The facilities are exactly what a traditional summer camp should be.

One of a kind camp. Nothing in the world like it. Send him to Winnaukee if you want to raise him to be a brat.

This was our son's first year at Tecumseh. He had a wonderful time. The rustic facilities were exactly what we were looking for. the instruction and activities were well balanced. he had an overall great experience and will be returning.

Incase you didn't notice the only bad coments are from winaukee kids (it is a poorly run attempted improvement) the truth is Tecumseh is an original, we have the oldest camp traditions in the country. The counselors are highly experienced high school and collage coaches. Many D1 collage athletes come up to help you master sports, sportsmanship, and class. The Tecumseh staff and campers make CT the greatest place on earth.

This is a boot camp. Counselors are disrespectful and treat people like garbage. They have no consideration for any of the campers, just for the money. If you want a nice, organized and athletic camp, send your children to Winaukee, it is right down the road.

If you are considering Tecumseh for your kids, know this: it is a BOOT CAMP. Most of the boys shave their heads, and they are allowed to wander off camp and in to a conveinence store across the street without even lettin a acounselor know. It is just a big farm. Trust me, I've been there.

Such a great camp. Not for the rich new yorker type but they cam go to camps with TVs in the bunks and arcade games. Every kid there is great at sports and we always win lakes region tourneys, I always come back stronger tham before. It is very loosely run (but still very safe) and lets everyone to do summer their way. You get out of camp at least 3 times a week for sports or a trip to the movies or Jo-jos general store (a convenient place across the street where we cam buy some junk food and stash it in the cabins). There are unique activites found in few other places such as (real) rifelry, fencing, windsurfing, high diving, wrestling and rowing, not to mention other great ones found elsewhere. Campers also get a lot of personal instruction. Cabins are in the middle of the woods and very fun and rustic (probably shouldn't go if you get scared easily though) and you form friendships that include nearly everyone. Food's not great, but almost everyone comes back for a second year.
