Attended Camp Rays from ~2007 - 2012 at multiple locations and another comment saying that most campers are greeted with a dry 'Good morning' and others with hugs and smiles really resonated with me. They have a massive problem with favoritism and judge kids based on how they appear, how well off they are, or what schools they go to. Kids are grouped into good/friendly and bad/troublesome and are treated as such all summer and counselors will gossip about campers. I look back on my years there with contempt except for one counselor Jessica who was the only one who made any effort to be kind to me and made me feel seen. The staff just collects their checks and go about their summers. I recognize that I went years ago and hope the counselors now have a lot more empathy for campers than they did in the past. Terrible memories! I only went here because it's what my mom could afford for my sister and I. Made one lifelong friend who was also outcasted by counselors and other campers.

My son attends Camp Rays, Dodson site. The first year in 2022 he had a great time. This year 2023 it’s not the same. The Directors greet the campers in the morning but definitely show who they favor. The greeting for some campers are a dry Good morning while others get hugs and smiles. My son doesn’t want to attend because one of the camp counselor’s told him to shut the hell up. There were a few other incidents that I’m not too happy with this year. The Directors were nice last year but this year has been a different experience. It’s a shame.

My son has been going to this camp for the past 3 years. He's always excited to go back every summer. The staff is amazing and they care about the kids. I always recommend Camp Ray to my friends for their children, they defiantly won't be bored at this camp.

I sent my child to the Montessary school on woodlawn ave first it is the most expensive but you get what you pay for most other camps are about 2 to 3 times more money this school camp offers a pool but the pool has not been open for about 2 years I guess you pay more for the pool but in this case you still pay the full price with no discount for no pool it was the hottest summer in years yet the only used the sprinkles 3 time the whole summer also they say the hours are up to 5:00 pm but they stop activities around 3:00pm so most people just pick up their kids at that time they hang around gym which has filthy garbage under the bleachers not beening picked up counselors should tell kids to use the garbage cans the only thing my child liked the most was meeting new friends and the trips 1 time during the week no communication about the BBQ at the end of camp and they just served hotdogs and watermelon with chips parents were welcome but not notified my child does not eat hotdogs

My son started at Pre-K camp in Yonkers then on to Camp Rays. This will be his 4th summer going and he absolutely loves it. He doesn't even want to consider anywhere else. Yes the schools are old and not perfect but the prices reflect that. Want shiny and brand new facilities and super organized days? Then you will pay at least 3x more. Camp Rays is a very good summer camp.

This is my daughters 1st year at camp and she will be 6 next week. So far it has been amazing and she literally cannot wait until the next day to go back. The counselors all seem very sweet and my daughter adores them and talks about them all day. She loves the trips, swimming, dancing and everything else they do. So far I can say that I am very pleased.

My son was at Montessory Academy camp Rays. The facilities were scary, unwelcome, dirty. The dressing rooms and pool were very old looking. My son was 6 years old who loves swimming, did not want to go swimming in that facility. Some of the counslers were not the best examples for children as well. Worst camp. My son does not want to come back.

This was my first time and they did not follow the schedule and it was not fun. I dreaded going everyday. We just played hand games on the dirty ground outside in the hot sun and if we didn't do that we sat in a classroom all day. The sports we played were unorgaized because the counselors let the kids do it.

They didn't fallow the scedual.All they did was play sports.If I wanted to play nothing but sports I would have went to a sports camp.I am never going back.Next year I'm going to a learning and/or art camp.
