I am a camper here and I have been going for seven years. The time I spend at camp is the highlight of my entire year. I enjoy every second. The people here are great, the value for the money is great, the selection of activities are great, and the religious aspects are great. As far as the healthiness of the food is concerned, camp offers a salad bar for every meal. Due to the price, it is difficult to feed the kids anything very expensive, but some meal such as taco Tuesday, chick patty Friday, pizza Monday, pasta dinners, grilled cheese, grilled chicken, are iconic camp meals and are looked forward to. If you are considering sending your child here, I strongly recommend it. I don't know where I would be without camp, and I have enjoyed every moment that I have spent there.

Both of my children have attended this camp for many years. The activities are great, the cabins are terrific, and the price can't be beat! I love that they both come home singing new Christian songs and having greater knowledge of the Word. That said, the food is a real concern, as it is not in any way healthy and both kids need a week to "detox" after camp. And, maybe the deal breaker, my son was bullied many times (as were other boys in his cabin) and no one seemed to feel it was an issue. My daughter has had a more fulfilling camp experience, so maybe the issue is just with Brookwoods. Overall, I think the values and attempts by the staff to provide a good experience for the kids are genuine.

My son's second year. Extremely friendly and dedicated staff, beautiful grounds and views. They offer a very diverse selection of activities. Only comment is the food. They should have more of a daily selection with kids in mind. Healthy food can be fun and delicious for kids. We will definitely be back! Regarding the previous reviews/comments on religion, they are very casual and inviting in their approach and you should not reconsider based on it being Christian based. We almost did and he would have missed out on a great experience!

This camp is ok but I just wished it wasn't only Christian. There are probably people who are not Christians that want to come here. But the counselors are nice.

5/5/5 because I mean it. This a dream camp. I spend my days waterskiing, paintballing, sailing, swimming in the clear lake, having campfires and smores with friends, dance parties on the docks, boat trips with music blasting, spa nights in the cabins, singing and dancing in the woods, meeting inspiring people, laughing endlessly, and loving every moment! This camp has changed my life by shaping the person that I am today, and I cannot express in words how incredible it is. The people are kind and fun at the same time, making every night feel like a sleepover and each day, an adventure. If you are considering going to this camp, please, please, do!

I went to this camp for 7 years in a row 2002-2008. I think it was absolutely the best experience i will ever get in my life. I owe my faith to that camp. I'm sending my kids there when I grow up, I feel sorry for people that didn't grow up with this camp in their life. I respect this place a lot and get sad when I think of being too old to go now. Thank you BW and DR. <3

STAFF: The counselors are college age so they teach you a lot but hang out be cool as if they are your age. FACILITIES: Cabins are equipped with bathrooms, showers, and sinks. Both boys and girls lodges have foosball, table tennis, air hockey, sofas and fireplaces. All buildings are clean and new. ACTIVITIES: Everyday you can waterski, tube, swim, sing, dance, blob, ride bikes, wakeboard, wakesurf, sail, rock climb, play sports, scuba dive, snorkle, horse back ride, do art, riflery, canoeing, kayaking, archery, drama and so many more. PERSONAL ATTENTION: The #1 goal of all staff is to make sure they have happy campers. They are so compassionate, and helpful. If you ever have a problem, they will do everything in their power to help. MONETARY VALUE: Definitely deserves a 5. I would not be going for my 4th year if it wasn't. I come home each year with a better respect for my parents, new skills, hobbies, friends, wisdom, and knowledge. I have also had SOOO MUCH FUN!!!

I absolutely love this camp! I have found that everyone there was nice, polite, and just the right amount of crazy fun. Every year you can make a dozen or more new friends. The staff are like kids, fun, crazy, and silly! This was the most perfect balance of outdoorsy and sanitary. I loved all the activities (I personally recommend ceramics, sailing, and BB's or riflery, depends on age). Never once once I pushed aside by anyone, everyone is like family there! I do believe this is a great camp.

I attended 30 years ago. My son attends now. The camp was run by Miles back then, and by his son today. A lot of what I loved back then still exists, but I am surprised at just how much better other things are. Was happy to see things were not left to decay as time went on. As others have said in their reviews, the experiences in Brookwoods lasts for a lifetime. A person's ability to better themselves both personally and spiritually is limited only by the drive of the person. After I became too old for camp, many of the interests, desires, and training stuck with me. Bud's SCUBA training. Mark's hiking and wilderness training. I bought my own sailboat after missing it at Brookwoods. I'm a certified rifle instructor after learning at Brookwoods. I've gone on to climb every 4000 ft peak in NH after getting my first dozen while in Brookwoods. At the time, the inability to have a radio or other 'modern' entertainment seemed odd, but now I relish the times I can turn it all off

If any parent or guardian is reading these comments to see if they think their children should go, LET THEM GO! This will be my third summer in july 09 and i truly can't say enough about the place. Every summer when i get back from camp i have better respect for my parents, friends and my life. This appreciation does not just occur within the first week of coming back home it stays with me for the rest of the year! This camp has changed me in the biggest of ways. Everyday i try to include the unincluded in my school or try to be friends with a new person,or even when i have a disagreement with a friend i try to just let it go. After i've done something god i think that god and others would be proud of me for i think of camp. I think of the wondrous property, my cabin friends, and most importantly my councilors from that previous summer who had guided and helped me to become a better person. With each good decision i make the first thing that pops into my head : CAN'T WAIT FOR NEXT YEAR

I think camp was the best thing that ever happened to me. I sooo want to be and LDP already. I try to act a little homesick for my mom, but I'm really not. It is home away from home. I met my BFFL there, too. GO TO CAMP DEER RUN! DEER RUN ROCKS! Also, I think that brookwoods is good because the boys seem to like it and if its anything like deer run, its awesome. I loved it there! I wish I lived there all year round! When I give 5 5 star ratings, I mean it. The only bad part was I slipped and fell running and somebody signed my courses up for me. But even still, even though those were the last things I would have picked, they were still pretty fun. At camp, you make friends for life.

...There are no words amazing enough to describe this camp and how much it means to me. I went there for ten summers before becoming too old and I miss it every single day. I'd be a completely different person if I had never gone, I've met WONDERFUL people there, and I have countless unforgettable memories. I'd give anything to spend my summers at Deer Run again!

I don't think i could imagine my life without this camp. before i spent my first two weeks at DR, i had trouble expressing my christian faith. and now, after three years, soon to be four years, i flont my faith, and wear a cross every day. i love everything about Deer Run. the activities, the counselors, even the camp itself is truly beautiful. it's just a special, amazing camp. i especially LOVE the counselors there, especially Annie, of the Gazelle 07 summer cabin. i count down the days that i get to go again this summer, I CAN'T WAIT GOD!

This camp is my favorite place in the world. It is my second home and family. I was a camper, LDP and on staff for 12 years and I have very fond memories. The staff is exceptional and they are great role models. The camp progam is second to none - the activities are well thought out and they incorporate christianity into everything. This encouragment allows kids and adults to become stronger christians in their home lives. This is done subtlely with out pressure.

This camp is the most important thing in my life. The most definitive moments have been there, it means the world to me. Not only is it amazing, regardless of whether the kid has a relationship with God whatsoever or is really close with God... this year will be my seventh year and I hate to think about who I would be today if I had never gone. Counselors and staff, (even kitchen staff and maintenance) are all friends and huge parts of my life, role models, and teachers. I love this place more than anything else in the world. The most beautiful place I've been in my life, truly.
