Click to report rating    3/21/20   5     5     5     5     5   I literally love this place. The staff make it like your totally at home. It is a Christian camp, so I would not send children of other religions. Other than that the camp is great, and you learn so much. RID: 53181
Click to report rating    3/30/17   1     5     5     5     3   I went to camp Edwards my entire childhood every summer and was in the leader in training program to be a staff member but left due to ideology issues. First of all this is a Christian camp and should be advertised as such, which it is not. Every story song and activity ended with a Christian brainwashing session. I was given responsibility of a cabin group and was tasked with the bed time story. I gave a speech about the dangers of drug use rather than the standard camp Edwards doctrine and was asked to leave because I wouldn't proselytize. It's OK to run a religious camp but if the children are from agnostic or non-Christian families, the camp should either make their Christian sentiment known or maybe only take Christian children as campers. The most shocking event was that for the blue ceremony the camp actually desecrated a native American totem pole by carving it out and hiding a nativity scene with Jesus inside it. How disrespectful to natives and confusing to kids!!! RID: 50576
Click to report rating    8/6/13   5     5     5     5     5   It is literally the most tight knit group of staff in any camp around the USA. They all work cohesively to assure that all the kids are having the best time if their life. I have been going for 10 years and plan on sending my kids there when I get older. Every age level is given equal attention and everyone gets along. The leader in training program along with the junior leader programs are fantastic and every camper that has gone through the programs has had some type of personal growth. Being a camp counselor there is the most rewarding job in the world because of the fun the kids have and the special bond you create with them. Best camp in America no doubt. RID: 45539

4/21/08   5     3     3     5     3   The staff did a great job of easing my daughter's homesickness when she first arrived. She really clicked with the staff and came home wanting to be a staff member when she got older. I was surprised at the amount of time the kids spent doing activities they could've done at our local park & rec program and I suppose I was expecting more rustic or outdoorsy activities and less stick & ball sports. We initially missed the part about the extra fee for non-YMCA members, but it wasn't too expensive. My daughter wanted a camp that offered horseback riding, so we tried another one the following year without much luck (she spent more time on a bus than on a horse). She's getting older now and closer to staff age. I'd like to send her back to Edwards to be staff, but they charge for their LIT program. One of her friends goes to a camp that doesn't charge their LITs, so we will try that one this summer. RID: 22468

Click to report rating    11/20/06   5     4     4     5     5   I have only gone here for a couple year but each year I have LOVED it. The whole staff is friendly and there wasn't one of them I didn't like. The food is really great, and the cabins are pretty cool too. The activities are planned so each age level will enjoy them. Everyone at camp is all so close which makes it really sad to leave. RID: 5143
