It was a overall not fun or good experience, the boys were treated badly and found a bunch of bugs and uncleaned messes around campus in the lodge and in the bathrooms.

Ridgecrest Camp for boys is a camp which is extremely religious and close towards god. There are several mechanisms in place which serve this purpose such as 'devos' and Sunday church. With this in mind, lets talk about the fundamental aspects of health the camp may fail in. Firstly, Ridgecrest for boys often fails in the category of sanitation involving their Egypts (designated lavatory per age tribe). The sinks are dirty, the showers are flooded, the shower locks are broken, and its bug infested. It is entirely cleaned by non professional interns. The cabins are also bug infested and can vary in cleanliness because its cleaned by the campers. In terms of the food - there is often lack of variety. While there is a salad stand, some days its inaccessible due to tribe events. There is a waiter system where 2 kids in a cabin serve everyone else in the cabin. if a kid is sick they may infect their entire cabin. The activities are fun though but can get repetitive if you've been here long.

I love this camp. I went here for the last five years. After a while, it starts to feel like being a part of a family. Everyone knows everyone and its so much fun. Four square is awesome.

This is the greatest place on earth. Send your son here. Camp Ridgecrest changed my life - aside from my parents, Ridgecrest was the greatest influence in my life. My advice is to start you son early and keep sending him to camp every year. This is a place where boys grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. This is a place where Christ is honored.

My father went, I went, and my nephew went. If you are thinking of taking your child, please do! They will remember the greatest summer of their life forever. Such a wonderful place! Nothing has ever change since my father went. And the BUG juice was pretty good to. ;-)

My 11-year-old son just returned home from Camp. He had a fabulous time. He is more physically fit and more confident. This was our first experience with Camp Ridgecrest and WOW were we impressed! Top-notch staff and counselors. Great food and activities. Beautiful location. This is something that he will always remember. He can't wait to share his experiences with his friends at school and he is already talking about going back next summer.

I was a camper there only one summer, but it was one of the most memorable times of my youth. I was a counselor there for three summers, and I can vouch that the staff is very dedicated to the boys.

I was a staff member at this camp back in the late 80's. I can't speak on this camp today, but they have the Same Director today as they did 20 years ago. I can speak from experience that the kids come first here. Their Spitirual and Physical well being are paramounty. I can truly say that at the end of each session, I felt like I had 10 new little brothers. Now 20 years later, I still long for my days as a counselor at Camp Ridgecrest. I would love to work there full time...sincerely, Bashful Beaver (Raleigh, NC)

The best camp I've ever been to. I've been to 3 different camps, and this was by FAR the best one. Everyoen is friendly, the food is home made, the activities are the best, and Ron is the man! What's not to love?

Our son is currently in his third year at CR. This year, at 11, he said he wanted to go for 4 weeks. At the half-way point, mom and I made a surprise visit to see him and what we found was a semi-clean young man coming of age. There he was sitting in the cafeteria eating a sandwich and watching the craziness of all the new campers checking in. His voice was coarse, his stare that of a someone who had seen too many wonderments in too short a time. I always find it amazing how much he grows while away at camp, but this year it hit me particularly hard - he's already talking of staying longer next year, and if he decides this course, I see no other action than to support it. Ridgecrest is just one of those very special places that brings together the very best of everything (staff, activities, leadership, and just plain fun) and each year we do not spend the money thinking of it as an expense, but rather an investment. Camp Ridgecrest is an incredible place where a boy can just be a boy!

Summer 2006 was my son's first year at Ridgecrest and second year at a summer camp. Ridgecrest exceeded my expectations. We are both very protective of our only child and felt extremely comfortable leaving him at camp. The staff was wonderful - caring - understanding - compasionate and most inportant - they were fun. We registered for the 2007 session as soon as it was available. Our son checked their website EVERY day and let us know when registration was open. His desire to go back told us we made the right choice when we chose Ridgecrest.

I went to Camp Ridgecrest for a two week session back in summer 1993. I was six years old, scared to death, and returned for 11 straight summers, no questions asked. The staff are the heart of the camp, Christian-minded, adaptive, and some of the most FUN people I've ever known. The Facilities are excellent, and improvements are almost constantly being undertaken. Many activities are pre-planned, but your daily schedule is really up to you, customizable through what activities you chose to sign up for when you arrive at camp. Because of CR I've made lifelong friends (many of them staff), grown closer to God, and amassed countless good stories that all begin with "One summer at Camp Ridgecrest..."

Ridgecrest is an amazing camp that allows for campers like me to partake in a wide variety of atheletic, social, and environmental experiences ranging from camping to the legendary "Sock War" all while in a Christ centered environment. I have tried other camps and can attest to the fact that there is no place like this on earth. There is no other camp i would rather go to. Parents, do your kids a service and send them to Ridgecrest.

This camp has been a tremendous influence in my life. I spent 10 years at this place and learned a lot about interacting with others. It is amazing to see a place where kids do not even think about playing video games, watching television, or whatever kids do with their palm pilots these days.
I placed a 3 due to my reservation with the staff. I honestly have not been to the camp in quites some time and do not feel comfortable marking a 5 for this category. They may be fine now but as I recall my last few years the trend of staffers was definitely moving in a direction that left me uncomfortable. Uncomfortable mostly because of an overly aggressive notion these young people brought to the camp - very much a "we want to change kids lives" This is a great goal, but these inexperienced youths create an artificial goal of changing lives. This is not to say they are bad or they are not qualified. It is simply a reservation.
Fives all the way for the rest of the camp though LOVED I

One of the reasons Camp is amazing is because it is a Christian camp that although it has Baptist affiliations has a very caring and nondenominational approach. However its purpose is not to help a child struggling with his sexuality, as was the complaint below, that is between the child his parents and God. Camp was an amazing place for me to find God in a breathtaking surrounding.

I was a camper for 7 years and on staff for 1. Camp Ridgecrest made me the person I am today and it was the highlight of my year as a kid. I'm not sure if this is helpful to anyone considering going to Camp Ridgecrest, but my only proplem with the camp is that as a kid struggling with his own sexuality, they didn't offer a place where I felt safe to be who I am. Other than that, the camp experience is invaluable.

I was a camper for 9 years and a staffer for 3. Camp Ridgecrest has had a huge impact on my life and it certainly has changed my life for the better through being a camper and even more so a staffer. Whenever I go back to visit I can see that it is changing lives just like mine everyday. I highly recommend this camp to both campers and staffers, it really will change your life.

I've been a camper at Ridgecrest, and this summer I am gonna be part of SALT, which is a junior counselor type of program. Camp has done so much for me and my friends/family, and everyone who goes year after year can only admit how much one can learn at camp.

I grew up going to Ridgecrest and also have worked on staff now for a combined 11 years. Ridgecrest is my second home. There's nowhere else I'd rather be. Campers grow physically, emotionally, and spiritually while having the most fun they've ever had in their lives. Trust me, you want to send your son here. As soon as I have children and they're old enough, you better believe they will be here every summer.

More rustic than most. (that's a good thing) Best staff around. Really turns boys into men, and the kids think they're just there to have fun. Campers, staffers and parents are all better off after a summer involved with this camp.

AMAZING! I went as a camper and have sent my son last year. His counselors were amazing one went to school at Wake Forest and the other at Baylor. One even sent my son a letter/ newsletter. Its great to see that he actually cares even after camp is over. My son wants to go back so bad and even wants the same counselor. There is nothing like hearing BoBo! Skeewatindat! Ridgecrest Lets Go echo off of the mountains in the valley in the morning at Morning Formation. You just can't go wrong with Ridgecrest.

What a great camp! We drove all the way from Michigan to send our son to Starter Camp. He had never been away from home but did fine. The counselors were very mature and well-educated. The scenary is beautiful. He definately will be going back next summer. He especially like the overnight hike.

Camp Ridgecrest (not to be confused with Ridgecrest Conference Center or Assembly) was an AMAZING experience for our young son. He has been going for the past 4 years for 6 week sessions and can never get enough. I went as a camper and so did my father. It hasn't really changed at all, whats great is that my son is going to Camp with the son's of guys I was at Camp with. AMAZING EXPERIENCE FOR ALL INVOVLVED.
