The camp director, David is amazing. He is so responsive to my concerns and has the best interest of all of the campers in mind all the time. I couldn’t have asked for a more caring and wonderful atmosphere for my two children! Absolutely recommend!

Over-priced and poorly managed. Very regret sending the child. Very doubtful about the qualification for the staff and the director.

If you’re thinking about sending your kid here think again. First of all, the people who run this camp are corrupt. The two top people running the camp ARE MARRIED!! Talk about conflicting bias much? They're able to hire/fire whoever they want because of it. Also, they say transitional camp but they are anything but. They don't check IEPs for some campers and leave (specialized) camp counselors to handle them when these children should have never been accepted into the camp in the first place and need to be receiving specialized help from a professional therapist NOT an arts therapist for only one day! And when that kid (understandably) begins to lash out by hitting other kids, counselors, biting them (!!!) because they can't handle transitioning or over stimulation? They blame it on the camp counselor and inevitably try to force them to leave the camp before they reattempt the same thing. Also, camp counselors are not paid well or enough and don't even get a break from the kids for lu

The supervisors talk down to you & do not treat their staff &/or campers well @ all! There are daily a.m. songs @ a rally that needs to be attended on a daily basis. I’ve seen staff members that aren’t even allowed to have a full lunch period ; due to the fact that they were cleaning up the mess from their campers .

Over the past ten years or so, Buckley Country Day Camp has lost its "family" feeling that made it the best camp anywhere! It seems to be just another camp and lots of the old staff have slowly left. The new staff lack in quality and in caring. The fact that Buckley has had four different camp directors in the past five years point to the troubles that are brewing at this camp. The rooms are clean but boring. It is in a school and it seemed like that it was just a camp in a school if that makes sense. The quality of the food has gone down drastically since they removed the "family chef" and put in a "company chef". Eating food became old after two weeks since the choices were limited and the snacks were cheap. Doubt we will send our children back to Buckley.

Buckley Country Camp is the premier day camp on Long Island. Offering exceptional programs and activities, combined with exceptional indoor and outdoor facilities, Buckley Camp offers campers the opportunity to personalize their schedule based on their needs and interests through workshops that are taught by adult experts. Through constant adult supervision and low staff to camper ratios, camper safety and individual attention is secured. The camp is truly interested in communicating with parents to determine family expectations and to develope a program that meets the needs and interests of every camper. But most important - Buckley Country Day Camp is a great place for your child to make new friends and to have fun. The staff goes out of their way to organize terrific special events throughout the summer and to make every camper feel special. I can't think of a better way for a child to spend their summer than to be part of the Buckley Country Day Camp family.

My older child has been going to Buckley for 8 years and will also go this summer. My daughter has been there for 5. Both of my children learned how to swim at Buckley Camp and the counselors are so attentive and caring. My son learned about rocketry, dinosaur dig and acting.

I went to Buckley for the past 8 summers. But this year I was a CIT and it was a horrible program. They don't teach you anything, you don't have a homeroom in the school like campers do. If you want to send your child to this camp, send them there before they turn 13 because it has a more structured program for them.

Buckley is the best camp I have ever went to in my life! The only bad thing about the camp is swim and the food. During swim, they force you to go in the water even when it's cold and rainy outside. The food is absolutley horrible! The camp will not let you bring home lunch for an unknown reason and if you bring home lunch, you'll get in a lot of trouble.

A great camp, but it's mostly aimed towards younger kids. If you're over the age of 12 and like athletics, time starts to drag. So do some of the special events they organize, but friends and fun counselors make them fun. The swim program is excellent, though, and the fields and equipment for everything are kept in great condition. Everything is air-conditioned indoors, including the amazing gym. Friends come with time, although its easier if you head off to camp with someone you already know. The counselors are extremely helpful, and help us out in every activity. I've been going to Buckley for three years now, and I'll be going back this summer. It's a lot of fun.

I have to admit this camp had lots of programs. They never changed though so that was kind of boring.I don't really like this camp because they treat you like 5 year olds and won't let you out of their sight! They make you sing Buckley songs and the pools weren't clean at all!!The food was HORRIBLE.As in NOT GOOD AT ALL!!Oh and by the way.Their cookign program might seem fun, but the staff usually does all the cooking while you stand there and watch!!My adivce, anyone over the age of 10, DO NOT GO TO THIS CAMP!!

My daughter is in her 6th year at this camp. She has enjoyed every year. She likes being able to chose her activities and the opportunity to try something new everyday. The only thing she did not like was being shut out of the elective that she wanted. Otherwise, the facilities are amazing. The staff is great and the workshops appealing and well run.

I love Buckley to bits and pieces. I met all of my friends at Buckley because I hate everyone in my school. We have so many inside jokes and memories because Bukcley is the best camp ever. Deborah AKA Gwyeneth and Kelly are our all time fave consuler. Also Mac because he LOVES his CIT's! It is so much fun and the food is great, very high quality. I love chicken day! Really fun workshops. Sewing is my favorite. i HIGHLY reccomend Buckley!

I went there for 7 years and really enjoyed it. I was recenty called up by the administrators to do my Josh impersonation routine over the phone and I heard the familiar laughs in the background.

i went to this camp for the first time last year and i was counting down the days till i left. everyone made fun of me and called u oink because im a little chubbie. the bus ride each day was such a pain i was forced to sit alone which made it even more embarrassing. i once heard the counclers talking about me! how rude. only one other kid would talk to me (debbie, thank you). plus lunch was impossible. it was outdoors and there are always bees.

A truly wonderful camp experience for both parent and child. Counselors really care about the kids and keep them happy, safe and entertained. The swim program is excellent: really boosted my daughter's confidence and skills from day one. Lovely children and parents: no behavior problems; I believe is due to the skilled staff. Staff seem to know every child personally. This is my 7 yr old daughter's first time at a camp and my fears were alleviated the first day. Any issues you raise (mine were minor)are addressed immediately and professionally. My daughter did not know anybody and felt comfortable the very first day. She absolutely LOVES Buckley. Even the bus service is excellent and consistant with the same lovely driver and counselor every day that knwow you and your child--excellent safety plan in place for bus and camp re: drop-offs and pick-ups. Although never on a school bus b4, my daughter LOVES the bus ride-songs, games, etc.We will be back to Buckly for many years to come.

I made a lot of friends here. If you are planning to go there for sports or drama, then this is the wrong camp. It's just a normal camp. Pretty fun, though.
