I only toured this camp recently however it was clear that they need to put a lot more money into the camp. The Director who toured us was super nice however by the lake they had hooked up a "water fountain" to hose water that tasted like plastic. There is no towel service for the kids. This is a problem because towel service reduces impetigo from spreading which is a huge issue when campers are using the same towel for seven days and it truly never dries between uses. Similarly priced camps are also giving campers safe, filtered water. Bunks had giant wall fans covered in major layers of dust. Many, many counselors on our tour were sitting around at tables not doing their job and it was clear that counselors were not on top of things. The cafeteria was stuffy and the bowls and plates were very old and worn. The kitchen floor also didn't look super clean. If they invest some money into this camp it could be amazing but they also need to invest in getting better counselors.

This camp was not safe for my child. It was to focused on intercamp and should have payed better attention to color war and intra camp activities. Food was also not great.

Camp Caribou has been the best part of my life for the last 7 years. There is not a day spent during the school year in which I am not thinking about camp or talking to all the amazing friends that I met in my first summer. EVERY kid and EVERY counselor at Caribou are the nicest and coolest people in the world. The mix of friendly athletic competition and bonding time is perfect. The Lermans as well as the counselors have helped me grow into a man these last summers and I can truly say that I would not be the same person without Camp Caribou. Although the facilities at Caribou are some of the best I have ever used, the counselors the camp hires and the bonding between bunk mates is what sets Caribou apart.

Camp Caribou is a place where one can feel like a member of a family when its true family is in fact, far far away. I spent 11 summers on the 200+ acre peninsula, half as a camper and half as a member of the staff, and cherish the time I had up there, often looking back on it lovingly. While the amenities at CC are reason enough to bring a camper back, it is the intangible that sets Caribou apart. There is a warmth that runs through all things caribou. There is a sense that all activities there, activities that may or may not be enjoyed all year round- soccer, fishing, canoeing... are somehow made better, more pure, by camp. And it is this warmth that brought be back summer after summer, the warmth I still hold on to- the warmth that still binds friendships, still nurtures memory, and unsurprisingly, still guides me in my future. With the ever-growing Lerman Family at its helm, I, even as a young man, look forward to the day when I can send my son to sunny Camp Caribou.

Never have I felt more at home away from my actual home. Camp Caribou is truly a special place, one where I have made friends that have become as close as brothers. The administration, the staff, and the campers all provide an incredible environment where everyone is accepted. I can honestly say Camp Caribou has helped me grow as a person more than anything else in my life. I attended as a camper for 6 summers and am now a part of the staff. Every year, I still look forward to that day at the beginning of the summer when I get to return to my home away from home.

Camp Caribou is truly a home away from home. I've been a part of the Caribou family for 9 years now as both a camper and a staff member and I can't imagine spending my summers anywhere else. I met some of my closest friends at this camp. I'm very surprised at some of the negative reviews that I have seen here and I urge anyone reading to take them with a grain of salt. I can honestly say that I've had nothing but positive experiences at Caribou. The counslors are great, the activities are fun, and despite what others here have written the food is delicious! My father went to Caribou when he was a kid and 40 years later his face still lights up when he steps foot on the peninsula. One of his favorite parts of the summer is getting to come up for father son weekend and relive his time at camp with me. Camp Caribou is truly a special place, and I'm eternally grateful for the wonderful summers and lifelong friendships that it has given me.

Camp Caribou was the medium in which i formed my closest friendships and made my most cherished memories. Caribou gave me the opportunity to explore who I am as a person by having the chance to participate in numerous different events and activities. Caribou is my home away from home.

Owners are not attentive. Truly not worth the money. The buddy my son was assigned to told us he was not going back should have taken that as a sign. My son went off to another sleep away camp and has been there for 7 summers. This was not a case of it not being the right fit. Camp was no where near what it was marketed to be. Skip this one go somewhere else.

Camp Caribou is such a special and spirited place. The Directors and all of the administrative staff and counselors are all caring and professional. Both of my sons truly love it there. They could not even imagine a summer spent anywhere else! It's fun, safe, and they positively transform every summer.

guys this is the best camp in planet i don care camp highlands or lorale foods okay and the facilities are awsome adrenline os the zip line is so good the only problem is 7000 buks a person is a rip of i have 5 brothers asll wanna go we cant afford it that reaslly suks not a discount but guys if you can come come oh ps bill is verymean yelled at me for standing up thretend to cut m legs of so avoid him but you have to go lol

I have been at camp for ten years both as a camper and now as a counselor. Never a dull moment at camp and some of my best memories in life are from camp. My best friends are all from camp and i have met the greatest people from all over the world. Camp Caribou for boys...unforgettable summers.

I went to this camp for 7 years and they were the greatest summers of my life. The campers that go here are amazing, the counselors are amazing, and Bill and Martha are amazing camp directors. They are like second parents to me. They are care about the kids and how each one is adapting to camp life. This is the best place for any parent to send their kid for camp.

This camp is truly amazing! All the boys who attend love it, they form amazing friendships while having the experience of a life time. I have worked here for 6 years now and couldn't be happier. The directors, Bill and Martha, have a very hands on approach and know all the kids and staff well. They enjoy spending time with the campers during the day doing lake swims or road runs. At Caribou we ensure that all boys are happy and enjoying every aspect of camp. A happy staff, great facilities and amazing boys make for unforgettable summers!

Greatest place I've ever been. I went for 8 straight summer and all of my best friends in the world are from this camp. Program Director is one in a million and makes the camp atmospher amazing.

Going to Caribou was the best 11 summers of my life. Bill and Martha really care about every camper, and give individual attention to everyone. I would entrust Bill and Martha with my life and the life of my loved ones. I went to camp with two of my brothers, and we all loved it. My oldest brother went to another camp for 1 year, and then came to Caribou for 5 years and brought my other brother an I. The cabins are very comfortable, and the athletic facilities are all very good. The counselors are trained thoroughly and excellently. Each counselor really wants to be there and enjoys camp and treats the campers with great care. I would recommend Caribou to parents and children alike.

I went to Camp Caribou for 8 years as a camper and they were the best 8 summers of my life. The kids and staff always made me feel welcome and all I have are good memories of being there. The facilities are great, especially the gym where I spent most of my time. Bill and Martha are incredible people who taught me so much and truly made me a better person. I made many lifelong friends at caribou who I still keep in touch with today. Great Camp!

Bill and Martha are awful directors only want your money. They do not care about the kids at all. My son went for one year as my neighbors highly recommended caribou. Well lets just say that their idea of a safe environnment is not mine. After doing some investigating there was an issue at caribou years ago that was in the local news concerning safety. Was my son fine at camp, yes he is a great kid with a good head on his shoulders. Would I sent him or one of his brothers back absolutely not. I know what good camp is as my daughters and older son went somewhere else. Caribou falls short on many points.

Horrible camp. Brother went for one year, all they want is your money. He went somewhere else for five years and it was amazing. Would never send a child to caribou. I think safety is an issue and directors are awful.

This is a special place. Bill and Martha make this camp a cut above. They are both out and about with the kids and are truly surrogate parents. Evening activities are creative and fun, with Wednesdays and Sundays reserved for all-day special programs. As beautiful a setting as you could imagine.(private peninsula, only camp on lake)

Worked here for one summer- worst summer of my life. Working for Bill and Martha is horrendous! It is amazing people still send their children to this camp when there are so many better options for the same money. Another review mentioned the one year counselors- that is true, one summer with Bill yelling at you and screaming "you owe me money" in staff meetings- (saying basically don't take it easy the last week or so of camp) is by far enough. The facilities are pretty basic, but nothing like many of the other camps we visited in the summer- some of them were amazing. My suggestion, pass up this camp and move on to a better choice.

All of my children started camp at age 8 in Maine.This was my fourth time sending a child to sleep away camp. Worst experience ever. Owners care nothing about the kids it is about money. My son had two counselors who did not want to be there. Luckily the next year my son went to a camp that was safe and fun.

Overall, Camp Caribou is USUALLY a fun place. The activities are really repetitive at times, and can get REALLY boring and not worth it. The food is terrible (but the owners don't seem to care enough to change food services), and the counselors are for the most part, ignorant. A lot of them are 1 summer counselors only at the camp so that they can tour the country afterwards. The counselors only care about their days and nights off, and could really care less what anyone is doing, especially to each other. So many things have been done by campers to campers, not even as pranks, but because of their hate for one another, and these problems are not even addressed by the owners, mainly because the counselors don't care enough to report it, and sometimes even join in. Further, the camp highly denounces pranks, unless by the oldest campers, so campers do much harsher things in more secrecy.
