8/14/18   5     5     5     5     5   I cannot stress enough how this camp has changed my boys' lives. My older son has been attending overnight camp for 6 years and my youngest for 2 and they come back each and every year more confident and joyful! We believe in the positive outcomes of YLCC so much that my wife and I have devoted our volunteer hours as some of the on-site doctors and nurses just to be around the positive and infectious energy YLCC provides. As someone who is currently defending her thesis within Master's of Arts in Leadership and has studied the outcomes of various leadership stules, I can assure you that YLCC provides a safe environment for your children to experience values-based, ethical, distributive leadership as well as lifelong lessons of service, accountability and optimism to all the children who are lucky enough to attend. As a mother and RN, I wholeheartedly endorse this camp for your children and will be proud when my sons become counselors there! RID: 52183
Click to report rating    8/13/18   5     5     5     5     5   My twins daughters have attended YLCC for three years. They have attended other camps in the past, however none of these camps compare to YLCC. The staff at YLCC is amazing. I had to drop my daughters off late this year and they missed registration. Upon arrival we immediately had staff members making the girls feel welcome as though they and not missed a thing. In addition to an amazing staff, the girls also love the wide variety of activities. They also comment on the amazing food each summer. They are currently at camp and I can hardly wait for them to get home and hear about their amazing experience. In this day and age, it is so amazing to have a camp where kids find the joy in life from those around them and do not need technology to get that joy. The campers also learn to express gratitude and this amazing lesson follows the girls home. The girls have been fortunate to have many life experiences (travel, competitive sport ect) however this camp was the missing piece! RID: 52180
Click to report rating    8/12/18   5     5     5     5     5   If there was a “superb” rating YLCC would get it from us, and so many families like us whose kids have been attending for years (in our case over a decade). This camp and its staff are compassionate, empathetic, open minded, and positive influencers. The camp is diverse and encourages campers to be themselves and to simply excel at that. As the parents of an LGBTQ child, we have been overwhelmed by the support received over the years - and knowing that bullying and negativity towards others who might be considered “different” is NEVER tolerated, providing a safe space for all of our kids. Our son is already counting down the days until next summer! RID: 52167
Click to report rating    8/12/18   5     5     5     5     5   My children have attended YLCC for 4 years and it's the highlight of their summer. The program teaches leadership skills, how to work as a team, gratitude and a ton of fun summer activities. One of my favourite things about YLCC is the residual kindness my kids share with others. From the day they return from camp I witness them being kind to each other, thoughtful to strangers and even more helpful around the house. The lessons that YLCC shares spills over into their daily lives. The camp is fun, adventurous, organized and staffed by a team of well-trained and caring counselors. Our kids have learned boating skills, archery, rope climbing, hiking, crafts, camp songs and more. Our 14 year old son eats a TON... and he was very happy with the food at camp. Our daughter is a little picky but she too was pleased with the options. They have already decided to return for a 5th year and are planning the return with the friends they made at YLCC. I highly recommend this camp. RID: 52166
Click to report rating    8/12/18   1     1     2     1     1   This was my sons first camp experience,I called YLCC and asked before I registered him if they could handle a camper with his experience, mostly 15, and is excitable and makes mistakes.dealt with Stu, and Ashley, a senior camp counsellor before i registration. In short, they asked me to get my son.On his last day a bell went missing and even though my son (they admit) was not involved, he witnessed something and they were upset he did not say. This is how they responded. They burst into his cabin first thing in the morning, told him to hurriedly pack his things as they stood over him, he left half his things at the camp. They told him to sit in the office, there would be no further participation, he wasn't to use the washroom.I was told he was disrespectful for not saying what he knew. senior counsellors are inexperienced, unprofessional and do not work with young people. Equality and diversity training is a must, they treated my son in a biased manner. This place is not caring. RID: 52162

Click to report rating    9/25/14   2     1     3     1     1   We sent our 2 boys to the camp in the summer of 2014. We were horrified when we picked our child up after a week there to find out he was bullied, under fed and under cared for. The staff did nothing to deal with the issues that were taking place and in some cases fostered a week long hazing for our boys. Yes we know boys can be boys but at some point the instructors and CITs should be taking responsibilities for their cabin. We tried numerous attempts to reach the owners of the camp but they refuse to call back. To top it off our son lost weight due to the lack of food for campers. RID: 48018
Click to report rating    10/7/13   4     2     2     2     4   Friendly staff, not sufficient food for older children...child is not a picky eater and lost 10 lbs (10% of body weight) in 2 weeks...was so hungry when got home and complained of not enough food...the boys and more aggressive kids took more and often there was not enough left...poor evening supervision of older kids RID: 46082

Click to report rating    3/28/13   5     5     5     5     5   We have three children, two boys and a girl ages 10, 12 & 13 and they have been going to YLCC for over 5 years. They started at the day camp which gave them a great idea of what camp life would be like. They have tried other camps in the past along with YLCC but all three of them (who have three distinct personalites)have all said they only want to go to YLCC!! Our kids have made friends with other kids who come to YLCC from all over the world! This is the BEST summer camp with the BEST staff! We believe it is the BEST summer camp experience for kids!!! Click to report rating    3/28/13   5     4     5     5     5   I can call YLCC my home. It truly is a life changing place. The staff are supportive and inspirational, and the activities are fun and rewarding. If you go into it with an open mind, it can be the best couple weeks of your life. RID: 44124

Click to report rating    3/28/13   4     4     4     4     5   My daughter loves this camp-comes back a kinder person and learns great leadership skills. She gets to meet lots of new people and learns to accept others the way they are. Accommodations are good-food is awesome. Had some good staff-and not so good. Overall she loves it here and is enrolled for her fifth year for this summer. Great value for the money. I know my daughter is in good hands while she is at YLCC. RID: 44118
Click to report rating    3/28/13   5     4     5     5     5   Having been a camper for 4 years now and having attended multiple other same camps I can honestly say this is the most amazing camp ever! The staff are amazing and give every camper personal attention! The cabins are on the small side by very comfortable and clean! You never feel unwelcomed and you spend the whole time laughing and having an amazing time! The programing is so much fun and there is never a boring activity! I often find myself thinking of camp experiences and laughing. Although the food wasn't as good this summer as been its been in the past it was still very good! I would highly recommend this camp to anyone! RID: 44117
Click to report rating    3/28/13   5     5     5     5     5   YLCC is by far one of the greatest experiences that I have had the pleasure of experiencing and I would say to anyone who is looking to discover themselves should go here RID: 44115

Click to report rating    8/21/11   2     3     2     3     2   After many years of summer camps, both as a parent and as a camper myself, I would only rate this camp as "fair". The Staff are friendly, but are poorly qualified and lack appropriate skill area training. There isn't really any "instruction" in areas like waterfront or archery. Arts & Crafts are simple and basic - cheaply done, repetitive activities. Cabins and bathroom/bathing facilities are acceptable. Bathrooms are in a central bathroom house, with no facilities in cabins. Food is passable. However, despite reassurances that accomodations will be made for allergies (nuts, dairy & eggs in our group of children & thier friends - 8 in total) and vegetarian - NO acceptable options were prepared. Meat-free simply = the same meal, but with the meat removed (one meal was lettuce salad & bread only), grilled cheese lunch = child was given only bread. This camp prides itself on "motivation" and it does that well, but not much else. It works well as a retreat, but better summer camps exist. RID: 36794
Click to report rating    5/29/11   1     1     2     1     1   this camp was horible all the sites with reviews all say the exact same things in the exact same order it is the camp putting these up no one who went liked it a girl broke her arm and they did not care and the staff were all really rood RID: 35982
Click to report rating    12/3/07   5     5     5     5     5   This camp changed my life. It is one of the most important things to me now because I met some of my closest friends there. The people I spent two weeks with in the CIT program of '07 know more about me and who I really am than most of my friends at home. We shared many tears, from happy to sad on the day we left. You can let down your guard here and be accepted no matter what. There is no other place on earth like this one, and its all because of the people who created it and run it. They are angels in disguise. RID: 17682
Click to report rating    11/11/07   5     5     5     5     5   With an incredibly passionate staff and profound leadership workshops, YLCC is a place where you can be truly be yourself and learn just how far you can go. I started as YLCC as a camper and CITed this past summer. I cannot rave enough about this camp- great people, great programs, great food, great memories. RID: 16995
